📖 THE STORY

We’ve recently scored a great deal at an upscale hotel in Newport. What’s the catch? People have gone missing after staying there. But the deal was too sweet to pass so here we are…

🎯🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

  • This is now our favorite set design by RI Riddle Room. We loved the creativity of how they utilized the space to create all the room components that should be in a hotel. The “transportation” device was especially enjoyable. We’ve seen a few similar ones at other escape room locations, but we appreciated this one in particular as they were able to incorporate puzzles within.

  • There were a few physical puzzles that were enjoyable to execute along with the various logic ones.

  • The lighting changes along with the storyline added to our experience and we enjoyed a little “jump scare”.

  • A prop which we encountered in the latter part of the game felt like a nice centerpiece that tied the story together. The interactions we had with it gave us a satisfying output.

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

  • One clue piece at the beginning felt like it should be used as a puzzle element the way it’s currently built. It might help to change it up to cause less confusion among the players.

  • A puzzle during the middle of the game felt difficult to maneuver. We are not sure if it’s intentional in the game design or not but during our play we thought it was too rough for the “two finger rule” and didn’t attempt on moving it until a nudge was given to us.

  • Adding some music (especially towards the end) when we are getting closer to the finish line, would intensify the nerve-wracking moments.

  • A more creative cluing system could be implemented to add to the immersion. Perhaps from those lost souls in the hotel?

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

If you like solving mysteries in an eerie type of atmosphere, you’ll like this room. I particularly enjoy shows like Criminal Minds & CSI, so this is right up my alley. Our recommended size for this room is 4 people. Of course the space can comfortably fit more. We really enjoyed this room and we think you will too!

🔎 🔎 HINT

Put it towards the light.
