Escape Trappe - "Spellcaster"
Updated: Dec 11, 2020
📖 THE STORY
We were a group of wizards in training and our mission was to find the Sacred Crystal of the Ancients from the evil sorcerer “Dark Raven‘s" chamber. We have to return it to the rightful owner. If we don’t do this in time, “Dark Raven” will extinguish the sun and the world will enter eternal darkness…
🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE
“Dark Raven” ‘s chamber really suits the wizard’s name. The entire room was designed with pitch black background. This added to the ambience of a dungeon feel. Moreover, it amplified the special lighting effects when they were revealed.
We liked all the “magical” feel of the props used in each puzzle. All of them felt like they belonged in a wizard’s realm.
🧩 MISSED THE MARK
We don’t mind the usage of trick locks, but we thought one was enough as normally they are considered as “time consuming puzzles” especially when it’s hard for game masters to give clear instructions when the players are stuck. Perhaps an illustrated clue would help.
There was no “hint” as to how to start a particular puzzle in the latter stages. It felt like most players would ask for a clue. Even when the answer was revealed to us later, there was really no particular reason why it had to be done that way.
There was a bit of a delayed reaction to a certain puzzle. The game master had to tell us to try again another way in order for it to finally operate.
🏹 TAKE A SHOT?
Although the rooms are quite spacious, we felt that there weren’t as many puzzles to accommodate. Our recommended group size for this is 4 people. You’ll enjoy this room if you are a fan of magical and mythical worlds. Finding things was a bit of a challenge in the room since like magicians, black on black is how they trick the human eyes. Test out your wisdom and see if you can keep the world safe from “Dark Raven”!
Are they in order?
