This was our second stop in Bergen, Norway. Escape Hunt is a franchise that started in 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand. Currently, they have spread all over the world. However, they do not produce the same games for each location. A lot of the escape room themes are particular to that region such as the one we are trying today. As we climbed up the stairs to the escape room, we were quickly impressed by the lobby décor. It was very welcoming with a safe place to lock up your belongings before entering the lobby area with tables/chairs and water offered at every location. There’s even a “fireplace”! As we got comfortable, we were debriefed on the storyline of “Escape from Akershus Fortress”.

The story takes place in May 7th, 1945, the day before Norwegian's Independence. We were the last “Pelle-group” of prisoners that must escape the Akershus Fortress before being executed by the Nazis. Time is of the essence! We started out in two different jail cells and had to work together to reunite at the end. We were impressed by the set design as well as the maintenance of the condition of the room. The décor and the props implemented kept with the war theme throughout the entire gameplay. There was one puzzle that we made difficult for ourselves again and had a “duh” moment after. So like all other review posts, for the expert players, don’t over think a puzzle. There was definitely a “bombdiggity” ending! We always appreciate a great experience from beginning to end. So if that's something that you are looking for,, this is definitely one of the locations to visit. Feeling competitive? You can book the same identical room and compete with each other! They also have another game currently at their location called “The Central Bank Robbery” that we would love to try when we return to Bergen in the future. Also, the former manager that we interviewed - Katriina Penttila wrote her master thesis on escape games titled - "History of Escape Games".

Disclosure: We thank Escape Hunt Bergen for comping our tickets for this game. Although complimentary admission was generously provided, it does not impact our opinion on the review whatsoever.
