📖 THE STORY
We woke up in a semi-dark room. We don’t know how long we’ve been there. As we opened our eyes, the first thing that we saw was a dead body on the floor and a voice recorder. We pressed play and a distorted voice says: “I wanna play a game………. If your time is up, the gas will kill you all……. Let the game begin.”
🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE
As if the "SAW" movies weren't scary enough to watch at home, we were now put into an exact replica of the scene from the first movie. The props used were matched to a tee to the original "SAW" film.
Unique self-hint system that was relatable to the storyline.
The ambience felt more intense as the story developed due to the lighting change and feel on the design set.
Since restraints were initially used, we liked how we had to work together to free ourselves prior to the start of the game. This made it felt like a real-life situation.
🧩 MISSED THE MARK
There was one puzzle that needed a tall person in order to see the clue. If I was placed there, I wouldn’t be able to see it (I’m 5-ft). It would be best if this could be re-designed or put somewhere a bit lower, so it suits all heights or have a stool inside the room to resolve this issue.
Although the hint system was unique, we found at times it was confusing. There were a few clues on there we were able to figure it out on our own but when looking back at the hint system, it confused us.
It was quite difficult for us to hear the audio hint for a puzzle. If the volume could be adjusted to a bit higher that would be great for players. Although we were also not sure why it would be coming out of there instead of somewhere more reasonable.
A suggestion we have would be to add some music and occasional voice alerts from the killer would be able to add suspense to the room.
🏹 TAKE A SHOT?
PanIQ Szoba should not be confused with PanIQ the franchise. They are separate entities. PanIQ Szoba currently has 14 games available ("Saw, The Real" has an identical room that can be played in competition mode) at their location making them one of the largest escape room companies in Budapest! Most of their rooms are inspired by box office hit movies or recent trending shows. I’m sure you’ll be able to find something there to your liking!
You need to look closely…
