Looking to make your holidays as puzzle-y as possible? Dive into these two holiday themed adventures for a snack time puzzle journey befitting of the most wonderful time of the year. In “Santa’s Wish” you are tasked with uncovering the wish Santa has left in the card while in “Rookie Reindeer” sets you off to discover the name of the mysterious reindeer who can get the gang back together again.

Each holiday card is printed in bright colours on thick card stock. With each card will be a letter from Scarlet Envelope providing instructions on how to begin, well wishes, and a link to the hint site.

Overall I felt the cards look and feel great. They are attention grabbing and having hidden information throughout them so you really are encouraged to explore them. I also appreciated how the letter from Scarlet Envelope has this aged paper look with digital signatures and designs to make it feel personal. It’s a letter within a card!

Scarlet Envelope provides a starting place in their welcome letter but essentially you will find a poem on the inside of each card with riddles like instructions telling you in the first verse what your task is and then each verse after is a clue to guide you to the next puzzle.

“Santa’s Wish” has a more linear set up as you follow verse to verse by “Rookie Reindeer” does have you puzzling out the order of the reindeer to gain the final answer. Each puzzle will provide you with a word that when strung together will reveal a message from each card.

There is a hint site with small clues leading you if you get stuck and I felt it was clear and easy to follow.

This was an incredibly light and easy going puzzle experience that I feel is perfect during the holidays. It consists of visualisation, pattern recognition, logic, and riddles. I enjoyed how some of the puzzles unveiled themselves to you and the ways in which the clues were embedded so well into the theme. I found “Santa’s Wish” to be much easier as the puzzles could be a bit more literal with the clues while “Rookie Reindeer” did require a bit more exploration because it pushed you to flip around the card. I feel these puzzles are great for all ages but they do require some general knowledge, though they have clues.

Overall, Scarlet Envelope have masterfully created a family friendly holiday puzzle card experience that is perfect for the time of year. Visually stunning with just enough challenge, this is something you definitely want to add into stocking stuffers or to celebrate the New Year. Now I hear they have a third card in the works and I cannot wait to see what they create next!
