Among the abundance of ads we usually receive in our mailbox, this beautiful bright red envelope caught our attention right away. Our review packet included game 0 which you would have gotten for free if you were a backer on their Kickstarter.

Since GAME I was just one piece of clue paper, we were surprised on how much play time we were able to get out of it. If you are a fan of digging through social media for clues and connecting information together, then you'll love this add-on. It was a unique way to make an introduction for game 1 since most games would have either an intro letter or video. We enjoyed this method of self unveiling through a puzzling journey.

As the name suggested, game 1 was centered around a newspaper. Once we settled ourselves with a cup of coffee and put on the suggested Spotify playlist, we were ready dive into this mysterious package. Who was this secret society that has been watching us? Besides the cryptic newspaper, we also found a railroad map, two posters, two vintage letters, and an old ticket. Since the puzzles were non linear, we were able to work on them at the same time. From crosswords to ciphers to just pure searching, it was quite enjoyable to be able to utilize each other's strength with various puzzles. Even though there were no instructions, it was quite clear on what we needed to do. We always enjoy games that has a nice flow and this one had us solving the puzzles one after another. There's no freebies in this game. Although there's a hint website, you'll still need to solve a small puzzle first in order to reveal the web address.

Scarlet Envelope is truly a perfect idea for this quarantine period. Since traveling is something out of reach right now, we are so glad Scarlet Envelope is able to take our imaginations on a worldwide tour. As we completed this chapter, the secret society has informed us that our next stop will be in France! Looking ahead it seems like even outer space and medieval times are stops on this incredible journey. Are you ready to join us at the "initiation"?
