📖 THE STORY

As a group of travelling nomads, you have stumbled into the lair of an evil genie. The genie has trapped your group into a lamp but has given you one hope for salvation. From the pages of 1001 Arabian Nights, find the genie’s favorite 10 stories and he will set you free.

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

  • The set design of the room was well done. Walking in, this is what we would expect a genie lamp to look like on the inside, from the ambient lighting, the decorations on the wall and the lock boxes.

  • The puzzles were just the right amount of difficulty where with the kids we did not get stuck on any major puzzles and the game flowed. No puzzles overstayed its welcome during the game. There were even a few puzzles that the kids were able to solve on their own.

  • The game varied between being linear and non-linear puzzles which allowed everyone to be busy the entire time.

  • We had a great GM who monitored us. She knew exactly where we were in the game and what combinations we tried to help nudge us along the way. All the nudges she gave us were also perfectly worded that she still let us have our eureka moment.

  • There was a smell puzzle in the game which was executed flawlessly because they chose distinct and strong smells so there was little doubt with what they were.

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

  • A couple of the puzzles could of have some slightly better cluing, as the intended puzzles was not super clear. Most of them we were able to solve with a simple nudge though.

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

Along the way to Jasper National Park, this escape room in Hinton was a fantastic stop. The puzzles were solid and kept us going at a nice pace. The room was also fully designed in an Arabian theme. The game offered 3 different levels of hints. Organic was where the GM would give us nudges along the way if it looked like we were stuck or falling behind on time. Normal was when the GM would ask if we wanted a hint if we looked stuck and hardcore was she would only give us hints if we asked for them. We played with organic and found with 2 kids, that helped with the flow of the game and did not give us any frustrating moments. The bulk of the puzzles were combination and key locks which the kids enjoyed opening. Any fans of Aladdin or Arabian night themes would appreciate this game. Not only was the game fun, but we now have some 1001 Arabian Night stories to read up on.
