Together at Heart plays similarly to the two other games (Alone Together & Together Apart) had designed in the past. Once you purchase the game, you'll receive a code. One you activate the code, you'll only have 24 hours to finish the game.
This is a 2 player game. One player will select the role of "The Tinkerer" and the other will be "The Controller". Being that I'm a control freak, naturally I chose "The Controller". Each player will be taken to a game platform that will have different game components on their computer screen. You'll have to communicate what you see to each other and work together to solve the puzzles. Make sure to be really careful and don't hit the back button on your browser by mistake. This will take you out of the synced game and because there are elements in the game that needs the two players to start the game together, both players will have to replay the game if this happens. We learned it the hard way.
If you've played their two previous games, there's a lot new puzzle concepts added to this game. One that really impressed us is how the "matter transfer device" worked. It's so futuristic. I was able to send game pieces over to Brandon and he would receive it in seconds to use as part of his game. Why can't they implement this in food delivery world already? Send me some sushi!
The interface was really easy to use. I love the graphics and sound elements. They paired quite nicely with the mechanical theme. Everything was to be used and you'll never know what you'll unmask the next second. We got stuck at two points during the game mainly because we couldn't discover where they've embedded the secret information. I would suggest to make sure to click through everything thoroughly and be very observant.
I love how the puzzles that we have to discover were not out in the open. Everything felt like you need to dig deeper. Usually I'll be rushing to clues if we got stuck for too long during a game but with this game I didn't mind struggling a bit as when we finally figure out the clues, it's quite satisfying.
If you do need a nudge or even the solution, there's a very clear step to step guide on their website.
We loved everything about this game. The storyline was a great way to connect the puzzles. It was clear to us that we needed to find the robot's heart and mend it together to make it function again. The graphics were beautifully done. Each time when we clicked on a mechanism, the sounds would clearly indicate if something was solved or we should be looking for a change in the game. It was a very touching moment when we pieced the two parts of the heart together. This is a great game to play on Valentine's Day. Test how well you are able to communicate with each other and let's see if you're really "connected" at heart!
(If you do decide to try this game, please remember to let them know that you heard it from"ESCAPETHEROOMers"!)
