"Mad World" is a digital escape game designed with an inventory portal we are very familiar with: telescape. We've used it for many remote escape rooms before but this was the first time we've seen it being used with a digital game. After receiving the link, we signed in to it at the same time and used PubHub to communicate with each other.
Our goal was to help the unicorn to get back home safely. The game began with a photo of a room. We were able to click on areas in the photo that had interactive items. If an item could be picked up, it would show up in the inventory. The game was also synced in a sense where if one player entered a password, it'll update the same for the other player. The puzzles were not too difficult but having two players definitely helped with the search process. We also found it useful when one player was reading out clues and the other was deciphering them. Our favorite moments in the game was the prerecorded videos from the unicorn. The videographer chose an animated cinema feel that bought us into a fantasy world.
We took about 35 minutes to finish the game with one hint (there was one puzzle we were confused about from the way it was photographed and have since made suggestions to the company). It was a lot of fun feeling like kids again. This game is definitely family friendly and I'm sure your kids will love to meet the unicorn!
(If you do decide to try this game, please remember to let them know that you heard it from"ESCAPETHEROOMers"!)
