📖 THE STORY

This room has been made in conjunction with Games Workshop to celebrate its extremely successful Warhammer 40K series. Become immersed in the world of Warhammer and make your way from the passenger quarters through to the escape pod to depart the damaged ship Evadere before it is torn apart.

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

  • The game is immediately immersive from the offset - the outside of the room looks and feels like a spaceship, the part you enter for your briefing looks and feels like a spaceship, and the whole of the game indeed, feels and looks like a spaceship. The decoration is phenomenal and you can see that a lot of budget has been put into the environment and the atmosphere for this one, including lighting, sounds, special effects, props, movement, technology and more.

  • This is most definitely an escape - not a room as such - but the urgency with which the soundtrack and the lighting instill in you is palpable. You feel like you really have to achieve the tasks to get off the ship - or else!

  • You are helped along the way by Servitor - the pilot of the ship who is helping guide you to safety but is wounded. Go to him for help - he has lots to offer.

  • The puzzles focus on physical manipulation of items and the environment rather than codes, logic puzzles or the like. Think keypads rather than padlocks. There is also a good level of communication required. A few more puzzles would be nice, especially if there are 5 people playing. We escaped in 32 minutes which was a great achievement but would have happily spent a lot more time in there doing things and feeling the rising urgency ☺

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

  • It is very dark in the ship. You will also need a good level of mobility as there are some very physical movements and actions required to get about the ship.

  • Warhammer “lore” is that they had a lot of technology they didn’t understand onboard their ships. So if you don’t understand it either, or it looks like something that isn't completable or not actually useful - don’t waste time trying to figure it out, move on.

  • The final part of the experience is a moving module which after I exited felt very lightheaded and dizzy. I’m not normally one for any sort of motion effect but this one did affect me. If it happens to you, tell your GM, sit down and close your eyes. It will pass.

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

The game is very linear, and there was just enough to keep the 3 of us busy. A lot of communication and working together is required, but the spaces are narrow and dark so it's good that it is limited to 5. Pros should escape this room in a very short time so don't rush, just enjoy the authentic experience and good luck!

This room will thrill any Warhammer fan of course, but also any general sci-fi fan, or anyone who has ever thought they would love the chance at escaping from a perilous situation (whilst never actually being in danger!) or looking for a very atmospheric room with some clever tasks and surprises. It does call for some dexterity as well as climbing and crawling, so a great one for kids just don't wear your best trousers!!
