📖 THE STORY

Leonardo da Vinci, your faithful friend and master, disappeared without a trace a few days ago. Moreover, rumors are doing the rounds that he only owes his famous genius to a mysterious substance. The Inquisition has also gotten wind of this and is already on its way to seize the powerful substance. You can't let that happen under any circumstances! So come on, can you find the substance and get it to safety before they get here?

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

• Exodus has crafted a truly immersive environment, starting with the introduction delivered not only by our in-character gamemaster, but also with subtle atmospheric tweaks in the waiting room that set the tone for our adventure. Thematic music and dimmed lighting enhanced the anticipation, making the briefing far more engaging than simply listening to someone reel off a flat monologue.

• Inside, we found a rustic space representing the living quarters of Da Vinci. True to the time period, we encountered wooden floors, panelled walls, homely furniture, and a work desk adorned with scrolls, sketches, and paintings. The walls were filled with decorative pieces—some of which may or may not contain useful in-game information 😉. For some reason, the floorboards really stood out to us. We appreciated the gamemaster’s early warning that nothing was hidden beneath them, as we were constantly fighting the urge to pry them up!

• The ending provided a satisfying conclusion. A small, but charming special effect gave the impression that we had cast a spell to uncover where Da Vinci had hidden his powerful substance—which turned out to be something quite “sweet” 😉.

• The room offers a broad range of tasks, and we appreciated the effort to tie them to both the theme and the historical time period. This boosted immersion, prevented repetition, and ensured everyone stayed active throughout. While there’s only one task that requires strict cooperation, the rest promote natural collaboration and team engagement.
  

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

• It was great to see effort placed on crafting a more conclusive finale—something that many escape rooms neglect. However, in the heat and rush of the game, a couple of narrative points weren’t entirely clear. I needed to clarify them with the gamemaster afterwards. That said, the experience still delivers a solid, satisfying adventure.

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

I wholeheartedly recommend this room for teams with no to low-level escape room experience. The story is neat, and the tasks are inclusive and interesting. More experienced teams may still find moments of mental challenge, but could feel slightly underwhelmed by the lack of wow moments or standout mechanics

• Exodus is a centrally located location within walking distance from the train station. There is no dedicated car park, however there is plenty of parking within the city.
