📖 THE STORY

Teams are tasked with trying to solve the riddles left to you by the famous Leonardo da Vinci. Hidden in the attic of the religious Order ‘Priory of Zion’, are a number of tasks for you to solve; succeed, and not only could you discover the true whereabouts of the original Mona Lisa, but you may also be rewarded with a crystal larger and more valuable than anything you have ever seen before.

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

  • The set design uses high quality materials to produce a thematic attic experience with a couple of hidden rooms to explore.

  • We enjoyed discovering puzzles which required team collaboration to complete. Calm and clear communication is needed to complete more than one puzzle and helps ensure the game cannot be railroaded by an alpha-player.

  • Although this is a linear game the flow is dynamic, players frequently move back and forth discovering newly unveiled information to help solve Da Vinci’s final puzzles.

  • The puzzles in Da Vinci are a lot more ‘crunchy’ than those in The Halfling; there are a lot of decoding and logic tests, which our puzzley minds enjoyed working through.

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

  • Unlike most escape rooms which typically employ a ‘one and done’ philosophy to their riddles, there are a couple of elements here which can be used two or even three times. Whilst unique, the implementation was more confusing than it needed to be and we felt that perhaps the game would have flowed better had these tools been separated.

  • The time period of the props used were far more modern than that of the 1500’s, which although doesn’t affect the game play in anyway, it does limit the immersion.

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

Da Vinci is a challenging game which will test both your ability to communicate effectively and to think outside of the box. Lesser experienced teams should not be detoured from giving this a go, but should expect that they’ll need to receive numerous prompts from the GM for guidance… as we had to do on more than one occasion!
