"Room 000". You’ve heard stories about this place! As you enter this room, the door closes and locks behind you and the clock starts ticking down from 60 minutes. Apart from the time, the lock from the inside requires a passcode to open, each password letter or digit associated with an item from your surroundings. You know that this place contains all you need to escape safely from this place, so get searching!

At first glance, this game brings back memories of the Flash-style escape rooms I would find in the early 2000s. Each puzzle came into focus with a point and click, zooming into that specific corner of the room. The animation was smooth, and spoken audio is important for gameplay. That was because the hints for each of the individual puzzles could only be found as a looped recording that plays after players click on a phone in the room.

Players will also be able to keep track of their individual puzzle answers and whether individual puzzle answers were correct through a tracking list below the game’s main screen, and keep track of time with the countdown timer located at the top of the game page.

Apart from perhaps one puzzle, all you need to solve all the puzzles is located within the virtual room - for example, even a code hidden in morse code can be resolved with a morse code decoder found somewhere in the room.

A majority of the puzzles are either visual or logic, with a culmination of different aspects of all nine (9) puzzles contributing to the final answer that unlocks the room. With only a looping recording serving as a hint and nothing else, I would recommend having a separate notebook to note down hints and re-construct a few visual puzzles in order to gain a clearer picture of some of these puzzles.

Playing "Room 000" brought back memories of when I started looking for online versions of Escape Rooms when I first started. And because the room was divided so cleanly - not just the rooms, but the puzzles were individual units on their own - it helped us divide and conquer the room itself.

Admittedly, we had to brute force the final password a little due to the difficulty of one of the puzzles. It was only after consulting with the organizer that we realised that it was just a problem with patience and visualization on our part. Therefore, approach this room accordingly!

With self-contained puzzles, and the virtual room loading smoothly, "Room 000" feels like a good game for a team of varying interests in puzzle-solving. Hopefully, all of you will manage to work together to get out of the room before the timer counts down to zero.
