In the next installment of the The Winchester House Digital Puzzle games, the historian of this infamous house of Sarah Winchester (who’s husband created the Winchester Rifle) has started to get an uneasy feeling in certain rooms of the house. He is hoping with your help you can unravel the clues left hidden in the walls that suggest spirits are still haunting these halls…but why? And how can you stop them? Better start communicating!

Note: This game is a mixture of history and fiction.

"The Century Ghost" is a digital puzzle game where players are guided by an NPC through the chatbox feature embedded into the website. As such you need access to the internet to play and you need to have the webpage full screened or it will not play (this is more relevant if you are playing on Zoom and want to see your friends). You are also able to share your code to up to three friends so you can all maneuver the game while working virtually, which I really liked.

Taylor, our historian, will provide all the materials we need on our desk as we move through the game so your only task is to analyze the documents, photos, diary entities, letters, and notes gathered by Taylor. Once you have uncovered a name, location, or radio frequency code you message Taylor in the chat box and he will follow through with your request. You will be able to click documents and evidence found in the inventory section at the bottom of the page. If you’re struggling to read anything there is an option to have it transcribed to text which is really nice because it can save you having to open new web tabs to zoom in on documents. This means you only will need one web page the entire time to play which my group appreciated.

If you get stuck, there's a detailed step by step hint system at the top right of the screen right beside the chat box.

This game is a much lighter experience from its predecessor and thus is for puzzlers looking for a relaxing haunt. There are fun historical influences in the story around the legacy of Sarah Winchester and her ever growing house that were infused into the puzzles and narrative. The puzzles themselves range for searching, pattern recognition, logic, and decoding. I found the linear element of the story meant it was easy to move through the puzzles and also build the story. Each puzzle fit the theme well while also adding story. This game definitely leans more towards newer puzzles as the puzzles can sometimes be on the nose with what you need and only one puzzle really led our group to pause for a few minutes. That said when I figure out the twist of the story thanks to the puzzle before Taylor revealed it I got a fun aha moment

Note: If you need to re-listen to the radio because you missed the hint, simply type

“replay” after it.

"The Century Ghosts" is another paranormal adventure that offers players a feeling of immersion of the world and light puzzling to keep you drawn in.There is very little prep needed to start and I loved how you could just launch in and get right down to business. This game can easily be done in groups or solo and its lighter puzzles me you can really engage with your group for a fun evening hang out. This book takes us about 45 minutes to complete in a relaxed walk through. If you’re interested in checking out more Society of Curiosities you can also check out the other digital games like Bewitched Circus and The Glasshouse Ghost or you can dive into their physical mailings like Fairytale Files which offers a detective style experience or Madok’s Lost Treasure which introducing an epic treasure hunt adventure.
