📖 THE STORY

Cinema complex “The Roxy”… That place has existed for such a long time. You remember your childhood days when you went there to watch movies like "Back to the Future", "Alice In Wonderland", "Jurassic Park", and many more. Recently, you heard the news that the owner of the cinema recently disappeared. No one knows where he went and why he left. It’s up to you to get to the bottom of this mystery. But be careful, danger might be closer than you think...

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

  • This room is a passion project from an interior designer and it shows. The design and details that were put in this room was astounding. You truly feel as if you’re in the lobby of a cinema. There were all sorts of memorabilia from different movies that took us down the memory lane. The set design is top-notch and really adds to the entire atmosphere.

  • The puzzles were also beautifully crafted. They weren’t revolutionary, but they felt refreshing and well thought-out. Moreover, the pacing and the variety is just so sublime: from logic puzzles, to physical puzzles and finally to team work puzzles. the room had everything.

  • The post-signing in this room is also outstanding. With over 60 steps to escape, they have figured out a way where you will never get lost by using the light (in clever ways). It fits perfectly with the room.

  • The story was amazing and it was the final piece that I needed for a perfect room. With a title called "The Movies", there is a lot that you can play with and the GM found a way to overlap the story and combine them into a seamless experience.

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

  • Nothing. This is pretty much a perfect game.

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

YES! Absolutely! This is a room that everybody can and should play. Due to the post

signing system it makes the flow of the room so much better and I think most rooms could benefit from such a system. It doesn’t break the immersion-like rooms that we need to look on the screen for a hint or talk to someone through a walkie-talkie. Although some veterans might think the post-signing seems a bit of a hand-holding, but that would be more of a personal preference. Since this room has over 60 steps, we were gladly taking on those "lights".

All in all, this is THE BEST room I have yet to play. I was surprised not a lot of my friends haven’t heard of it yet, So this was a very pleasant surprise and now I'll be telling more and more of them so that this hidden gem will be able to shine through to the community. So if you are ever in Belgium. GO PLAY THIS ROOM!

ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO

  • There is plenty of parking to be found in front of the building and across the street, and it’s free.

  • The public transportation is very scarce in these parts, so it’s not advised to take them unless you stay somewhere close to the room. It’s a bit in the middle of no-where, but the actual room makes up for the long drive.

  • The lobby is a cozy little glass cage where the host will offer you something to drink and where you can just relax in the glow of a modern fireplace.

  • There aren’t any stairs, but this game isn’t wheelchair friendly. You’re going to have to crawl in some spaces.

  • At the end there will be a snack!

  • They have one other room called "Houdini’s Workshop" which I'm sure I'll return one day to give it a go!

Note: There is a scary part in this room. But if you are with younger kids or you just don't like horror, you can opt out of this phase. The room will be shorter, but still fun for the kids.
