Your land is suffering a horrible drought and the only thing that can help is a sacrifice to the Sun God. You have been chosen randomly to be sacrifice to this God and are told this is a high honour. It is said through your sacrifice the Sun God will provide water from the skies. Yet, as you stand in this temple you question this duty being thrust upon you. You don’t want to die by dehydration to pay homage to this god and you have decided you must escape!

Much like other YouEscape games, you begin your game by logging into a Zoom call with your

Game Master. The game will begin with a camera view on a table with a few items and locks.

Nick, our game master, will provided instructions for the game and also provide access to a

google Drive link that contains numbered files. As you progress through the game more files will become available (either through seeing a message or from being told by the GM), each image within the folders containing key information for puzzles. For these puzzles, you are often trying to figure out a way to make it from one room to another with obstacles in the way that bar traditional entry. As you “explore” the room through the file images, you are given bolded words that are key to watch out for and note. Using these “items” you can tell the GM what you want to do with them and he will explain what happens and whether or not it succeeded in moving you on. When you come across a picture of one of the items on the table you are able to prompt the GM to manipulate it for the puzzle. If you require any hints you can simply ask the GM.

The puzzles in this YouEscape game focus predominantly on logic puzzles. You are faced with a situation where you must figure your way out of a maze-like structure. Each puzzle focuses on unlocking a door or box and they are often multistep puzzles that require you to explore different areas of the room via the files in the google drive. The information is all available in text but the challenge to unpack the clues presented as they aren’t always clear. I recommend always prompting the GM to try the different ideas even if you’re not 100% as our group often got so caught up on developing theories, we didn’t consider testing them out to double check. In fact, some of our best solving came with just trying our first idea even though we were juggling with three other problems. I will note this game can start off overwhelming as you start out with access to eight files that represent all parts of the room you are in. I recommend treating these files as surveying the room. As you look them over, identify the goal and see what might help you.

YouEscape’s "A Monochromatic Adventure" provided an engaging escape room scenario that

really made you think outside of the box. The game can start out quite overwhelming but once you make it through the first room it has some really creative puzzle solutions and the mix of text based puzzling and exploratory puzzle solution helped this game stand out. I recommend this game for people that enjoy video game style puzzles and groups who enjoy having the freedom to try different solutions.

(If you do decide to try this game, please remember to let them know that you heard it from"ESCAPETHEROOMers"!)
