This game is based on the ancient Antikythera mechanism which was discovered near the Antikythera coastline back in 1901 with a mixture of Greek mythology. You are now a proud owner of this amazing mechanism. Will you be able to discover the secrets hidden within?

The Antikythera Tablets came in a handmade high quality wooden box. Inside you'll find 5 tablets, 4 different sized gears, some small sticks and a roll of string.

When you first receive the game, there's a wooden plaque affixed on the top of the wrapped box. This is a hint for the final answer so you can leave that by the side and unwrap the paper wrapping. Your first mission is to figure out how to get the box to open. There's no need for brute force. It will open when the right paths align.

Once you get into the box, you'll discover 5 tablets. These are all individual puzzles that can be solved in any order. You might also realize that there are other small components like gears, sticks, and twine that came with the game. These will need to be used alongside the tablets. If you read the story on the tablets, you should be able to figure out what you need as the assisting tools.

The workmanship on this box is AMAZING! The attention to detail on all the number/letter carvings, the discolorations on the wood, and the images of the mythical creatures really bought out the mystery element of this game. It even smells great!

Each of the 5 tablets had a physical and a logic component that you'll need to solve in order to get to the final answer. Most of the time, the nudge from the storyline is the best place to get started. Once you think you know how to maneuver the tool or the tablet itself, then trial and error might be your best bet for at least the start of the journey. We started with the jigsaw puzzle which I'm not sure if it was the right choice or not but WOW, the endless options (as some pieces can fit in various places)! This one we decided to use a hint as it did take quite sometime to figure out the starting point. If you get stuck, there is a well explained hint and solution page which can be accessed through their website.

Once you figure out the pattern to the answers, the game might become easier as you'll know what to look for. I still suggest figuring out the answers rather than skipping the fun in solving for the reveal (although one puzzle will definitely give your arms a workout). The complexity behind how the creator is able to put together these gears and locks is mind-blowing. We were constantly "wowed" by the secrets and reveals throughout the game.

We haven't played anything like to The Antikythera Tablets before. It really feels like those fancy puzzle boxes that we would see on a Chris Ramsey video. What I really love about this game is not just the clever puzzle mechanics but also the way the creator was able to use it to tell a story. As you maneuver a cog left and right or trace a path with a twine, you're also picturing a Greek mythology appear right in front of your eyes. By completing each task, you're one step closer to the truth. YOU are the TRUE hero in this game!
