A series of murders have occurred and has caught the attention of the media. It seems to be the work of a serial killer and nobody knows when he will strike again. The media has named him the "7 Sins Slayer" as he seems to be obsessed with the 7 sins. Due to this fact, the police suspects that there will be more murders to come as his '7 sins" have not yet been completed. Therefore, the police have engaged you, Dr. Casey Gold, for assistance with this case before the he strikes again!

The "7 Sins Slayer" is a murder mystery game where you will be watching videos of witness statements, reading their background and whereabouts at the time of the crime, analyzing autopsy/crime lab reports and other forms of documents to eventually establish the motive and alibi of each suspect until you can narrow it down to the killer. The game is broken into 2 rounds and there is a handy guide to suggest what you should investigate first. Feel free to not follow it and investigate according to your own plan. However, this game has A LOT of information so beginners might want to follow their recommended order. There are also templates to download, such as filling in the timeline of every suspect/incident. These are optional and you can choose to not do so if you don't want to lower the difficulty of the game.

After you feel that you have gotten the answer, there is a PDF file that will explain to you every single aspect of the case, such as why Suspect X is not the killer. It is really a comprehensive file to ensure that every loose end is covered on the path to unmasking the truth.

This isn't exactly a puzzle game, but more of a deduction game. I would say the closest resemblance to a puzzle will be a logic puzzle? Like if you discovered that someone isn't present a few miles away from the crime scene, it means he is not the murderer. That is about it, with some slight references to the 7 sins. So there is a bit of matching to see which victim falls under what category, but it is mostly deduction and elimination based on the information and facts that you gather.

I have played a fair share of games from Murder Mystery companies such as Hunt A Killer, Unsolved Case Files and Murder Mystery Parties. "Catch A Killer" by My Mystery Party will fall on 2 ends of the spectrum, depending on what kind of player you are. For those who love murder mysteries, I personally feel "Catch A Killer: 7 Sins Slayer" blows all of the other games I have out of the way. It is not just a game, it feels ridiculously real. The amount of effort and time taken, wow, I am not sure how they manage to find a writer to write a killer case like this with that much information and still not write themselves into a loophole. For those who have played the games that I mentioned earlier, just imagine the amount of text from those to be multiplied by 3x or 4x and somehow, everything still links together and there is a satisfying conclusion to the case. Of course, the entire game is not just words - there are maps, diagrams, pictures and videos to make this case a truly memorable one for me and it is the closest thing to solving a real life case. Highly recommended for those who like deduction. But be prepared, for there is a lot of information that you will have to sort through and definitely carve out enough time because you will definitely need more than one evening for this game (unless you play through the entire night, which I did).
