Today, we are visiting the West Hartford, CT location to escape one of the three rooms that they offer - "Starry Night". They have street parking and a parking lot available right in front of the entrance. We were fortunate enough to meet w/ the Director of Operations so that we could learn more about the company. In regards to this location, they are positioned in a great area. Attached to the lobby of their CT location is their restaurant/ bar - "Deadbolt Restaurant". This is a great place to stop by before or after your game to discuss your expectations and experience! The decor of the lobby and waiting area has a really unique vintage feel. They have a really cool gadget called "PNEUMAN" which allows you write down and enter any question into a capsule that will shoot to the back and return w/ a response. The staff was extremely friendly and professional. As we entered into the "Starry Night" room, we were instantly teleported to London. The decor definitely went w/ the storyline. The puzzle designs could've been a little bit more linear. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and were able to escape with two people with some time to spare! There's no elevator and you will have to climb two flights of stairs. The lobby area is quite spacious and they also have a party room where they can host events with food and drinks. We were joined by a lovely couple and the four of us were able to move around comfortably in this room. This is probably the largest escape room in terms of size that we've done up until now. The beginning puzzles were a bit more challenging but the ending seemed to die down a bit. The puzzles were quite linear so you'll have to solve most of them together before moving forward onto the next. The decor of the room was meant to be a little bit horrific, but even with a few props, it kinda lacked in design. The bright lights made it easier to play, but maybe for the theme, they should have added some "scary" light effects and sounds. Overall, it was a very fun room and we loved their puzzles. We are definitely considering trying their other rooms in the future. It's about time!! We have been patiently waiting to play trap't Escape Room Adventures' infamous room - "Time Chasers: Race for the Cure"! For this room, you need 4 or more players in order to complete your mission. We were lucky enough to be invited to tag along with some escape room owners that we recently met who also haven't tried the "Time Chasers" yet. We had a group total of 8 players and we all worked well as a team. The "Time Chasers: Race for the Cure" room has received rave reviews from other websites and believe me, it lives up to the hype! As soon as you step foot inside the room you are fully engaged in a time traveling storyline. The only recommendation that we would suggest is if the design of the doorway set the tone for the storyline right from the beginning (like a time warp tunnel or something). Other than that, the room was incredible from beginning to end. Since our last visit to trap't Escape Room Adventures, a lot has changed in less than a year. We were fortunate enough to meet with the owner & developer of the company to learn more about the company. Recently, they've partnered with Ubisoft Escape Games to launch their VR Escape Rooms. Also, we got a sneak preview of trap't's newest room - "Tremors on the Tracks" set to open this year and it is amazing! All the rooms are handicap accessible. The waiting area is quite spacious and the decor really compliments the "Mystified" theme. The game masters are also in costume & character as they reveal the backstory prior to entering the room. The hint system is quite unique in this escape location as the game master physically walks into the room to give you a clue. So be sure to watch your time closely as there could be a bit of a delay. We were joined by two other couples for this adventure and the six of us happily escaped with minutes to spare. There were a few "Gen 1" tech puzzles in the room and some basic ones combined. You can spread out and tackle different puzzles with your group at the same time. We think four people or more should be plenty for this room. The beginning was a bit confusing in terms of the storyline but it did correlate with it until the end. We enjoyed this room and the location and plan to be back for more! *** We regret to inform this game is no longer available for booking but check out other games on their website*** (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) #CiciCao #IRLEscapeRooms #EscapeRooms #MystifiedEscape #SciFi #Connecticut #USA

We felt that we've entered a stormy night as soon as we entered into the room. The lighting and sound collaborated really well with the design. It's a rather dark room, so you'll have to get use to working mainly with flashlights. We were rather pleased to find that even though some hints were hard to hear, they were also given in another way just in case. Mainly because we've encountered situations where clues and hints were unclear due to the theme of the room. It could get rather frustrating for players and waste your time. There was an answer to a clue which we figured out before solving the actual puzzle which was great but not sure if that was a loophole in the game. We did get tied up on one of the problems and the game master physically had to come into the room to help us solve that. Sometimes we feel that it takes away from the play when that happens since it feels like cheating when it isn't solved entirely by your team. Regardless of the minor aspects, we had a lot of fun in this room and would definitely come back again for their future ones! • Mystified Escape Rooms - "Rendezvous With The Renaissance"

LOCATION: Mystic, Connecticut, USA Photo above is property of Mystified Escape Rooms Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝  ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Rendezvous With The Renaissance 📅 DATE PLAYED: September 22, 2018 🎬 GENRE: Mystery 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 3 ppl): 7/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 10 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $28.00/ pp ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Read our reviews of "The Paradox" and "Keeper of the Light" rooms to find out more about this escape location. The "Rendezvous With The Renaissance" in comparison to the other two rooms was probably the least immersive in terms of interaction. We felt that the beginning of the room was better designed than the end. The end felt a bit weak and disconnected from the storyline. There were a bit more red herrings in this room that you have to overlook, but it was still minimal compared to some of the other rooms we've seen. We used one clue in this game and was able to escape with three people and 7 minutes to spare. This is one of their bigger rooms in terms of space, but definitely one of the easier rooms in terms of puzzles. Initially, the design of the room didn't really correlate with the story, but the puzzle aspect was fun so we overlooked that. Towards the middle, the story did catch on with the theme. If you were to choose one of the three that we've attempted, we'd recommend the "Keeper of the Light" room for a more immersive experience. LOCATION: Mystic, Connecticut, USA Photo above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝  ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: The Curtain Call 📅 DATE PLAYED: August 21, 2019 🎬 GENRE: Mystery 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 7.5/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 8 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $28.00/ pp ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: No Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers This is our fourth time visiting Mystified-Escape Room Adventures. Previously, we’ve played all three of their games so far: "The Paradox", "Keeper of The Light", and "Rendezvous with The Renaissance". Be sure to read our reviews to find out more about this escape location. They have recently retired the “Rendezvous with The Renaissance” room and replaced it with their new game which we’re playing today: “The Curtain Call” The storyline for “The Curtain Call” had a bit of “Moulin Rouge” inspiration behind it. It seems like Belle, the cabaret’s leading lady at La Rouge Mystere is missing. There are already accidents happening backstage, and we were sent here to solve this mystery and hopefully find her before the curtain call. Today, it’s just the two of us giving this brand-new game a stab. As we entered the room, the set design took us back to what feels like the waiting area behind the scenes to a cabaret show. I would say our “mistake” here was that we didn’t pull hard enough on some of the furnishings as most of the time we’re very careful and respectful of the props in the room. But this caused us a good amount of time as we literally just stood there and pondered for a long time before we used a clue to just to let us know to “pull the furniture harder”. There was one particular puzzle in there that also confused us a bit with the game flow since it could also be utilized again later. Perhaps if that can be fixed somehow, it would make the game flow a lot smoother. There were definitely less locks in this escape game versus tech, but it did make sense whenever a lock appeared. We were stuck on one puzzle at the end mainly because we were not good “searchers” and did not make it out in time. The game master later told us that this piece of the puzzle was intentionally made more difficult to visualize. You really need to pay attention to all details in this room. The props and the storyline were solid in this room as it really made it feel like you were going through a real-life backstage setting. We were amused by the ending as well and always appreciate an escape room that would go the extra mile to show a conclusion rather than just let you out with a key. We appreciate Mystified-Escape Room Adventures’ creative themed rooms as they are always very unique and the best part is, they were all built in-house by a talented female owner. It’s always a different adventure every time at Mystified-Escape Room Adventures and we hope to return soon! • Project Panic Escape Rooms Austin - "Cabin Fever"

LOCATION: Austin, Texas, USA Photo above has been provided by Project Panic 📝  ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Cabin Fever 📅 DATE PLAYED: August 9, 2019 🎬 GENRE: Mystery 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 7.5/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up To 12PPL 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins 💰 PRICE: $30/PP ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Public 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: No We arrived at Project Panic Escape Rooms Austin which is the sister company of San Antonio Panic Room. Read our review of their "Prison Break" room to find out more about this location. Currently they have another location in Dallas. There is plenty of street parking as they are a bit more on the outskirts of Austin. This location is fairly new and you can tell from their brand spankingly clean lobby. They are still inputting more games here but currently they have three up-and-running: “End of the Lines”, “The Gallery” and “Cabin Fever”. Today, we are attempting their largest room which fits a max of 12 people with just the two of us – “Cabin Fever”. The storyline is that we are stuck in a fierce blizzard and we have to take shelter in a nearby cabin. But the old structure will probably not hold for much longer in this storm so we must find a way to call out for rescue. We did encounter a good amount of tech issues while playing this game which hindered some of our gameplay. We actually didn’t get out with us working on the last puzzle, but we believe we could have without these tech issues involved as it made the game very confusing. The review and difficulty level will be based on us overlooking these issues as if we played a fully functional and operational game. As we entered the cabin, we felt immersed right away with the set design. We were very amazed by the quality used on the wood, props, and especially the sound (we heard the wind was blowing the leaves outside and an actual storm brewing out there). The room is very spacious, and a big group would have a lot of fun in here spreading out and searching for clues. A few puzzles were linear but there were some moments different groups can solve things simultaneously. A puzzle at the end didn’t corollate with what was hinted on the answers which made it somewhat confusing for us and that one took some time. One of the mechanisms that we've encountered in the past at other locations was extremely hard to operate in this room. We think it may need to be repaired or replaced due to wear and tear. This also caused a lot of time for us even though we already had the right answer to enter. We really enjoyed the way some spaces were used in the set design. If the aforementioned puzzle and mechanism was adjusted, this room would've been really fun to experience. We can’t wait to return and give their new room a “spin” (*hint on the new room theme*) as we’ve never heard of this theme before! (If you do decide to try this room, please remember to let them know that "ESCAPETHEROOMers" sent you!) ** We don't want to go into detail and ruin any surprises for you, but you want more info like if the room is a multi-room or what other additional tips we can provide to you, feel free to email us. • Room With a Clue - "The Slasher"

LOCATION: Watertown, Connecticut, USA Photo above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝  ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: The Slasher 📅 DATE PLAYED: September 13, 2019 🎬 GENRE: Thriller 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 6/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 8 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $27.00/ pp ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers It’s by fate that we were destined to come try Room With A Clue. We met the owner at another escape room location as they were about to enter their game. They reached out to us after and here we are! Room With A Clue is located in a historic building with loft-like ceilings. There was plenty of parking outside. The building already had a preset ambience for horror but by popular demand the owner has made these rooms family friendly and not scary at all. We were attempting two back to back rooms here starting with "The Slasher". Despite the name “The Slasher”, this first room had nothing to do with murder mystery. “The Slasher” was merely a prisoner who’s been sentenced and has been planning to escape for a long time. He finally successfully locked us in the warden's office and we needed to get out before the poison gas consumed us. The room was quite spacious, and we would recommend a team of 3-4 people. As we entered the office of the warden, we were cuffed. Our first mission was to free ourselves. This was the first time we’ve encountered a room where there was more than one way to solve a puzzle (in this case, an easier way and a harder way). I believe we chose the harder way throughout the game. Later on, the owner said most of the experienced player choose to play the harder way where most of the new players actually saw shortcuts right away. It was a very interesting concept but also rather confusing for us since at times we would find clues or keys which we’ve used for another puzzle already but found another one only to have no use for them. The puzzle designs felt a little out of context to the storyline. At times we would ask ourselves if this was a real situation of us trying to escape this office, would we count objects? If the game flow could clean up a bit with perhaps just one puzzle per key (maybe have two versions of the game: easy or hard) and puzzles to be more relatable to the storyline, this could be a much-improved room. We enjoyed the storyline as it’s always fun to capture an escaped fugitive! Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers * UPDATE - We regret to inform that "Room With A. Clue" has closed. The next room was going to be a bit more challenging as we would have to start out in the dark. It seemed like our uncle Joe was missing along with some of the other town people and we were sent into Dr. Demento’s office to see if he was the reason for the disappearances. He started to act very strangely when he began to develop an incurable brain disease and started to forget things. The room design was set to resemble a waiting area for a doctor’s office. It was quite spacious, and you literally start in the dark. If you must have a flashlight, you can ask the game master for one. The owner asked that we discover “light” on our own and it was definitely a “wow” moment. The only suggestion we had was to incorporate a few more relatable puzzles to that waiting area since it felt like a huge space just for prop use. There was also another puzzle that we discovered later that we thought didn’t really fit with the storyline but merely to use the space. If perhaps the prop or the item we needed to get can relate to why the puzzle was there, it would make the connection to the storyline better. In the latter part of the game, we enjoyed the puzzles much more due to the correlation with the theme of the room. Adding a sensory puzzle was also a nice touch to the puzzle type. “Dr. Demento” is the new room at Room with A Clue. We saw a big step up in terms of the puzzle and room design for this room. They have another room called “The Setup” and because their lobby is very spacious, they have enough room to build a fourth room. The owners are both escape room enthusiasts and build all of their rooms in-house. We would love to see what their next idea would be for their new space and if they can utilize the height of the building for some “wow” spaces, that would be amazing! Mystery Rooms for awhile now as the name really intrigued us. Who doesn’t want to visit a Storyteller’s Cottage? This vintage Victorian house hosted many different types of events like writer’s workshops, story telling events, Harry Potter & Downtown Abbey-themed parties and of course escape rooms! There was plenty of parking in the back of the house. There was a walkway the owner pointed out to use later that connects to the back-parking area, but it may just be easier to go around the block and enter through the front. You wouldn’t want to miss the gorgeous garden entrance anyways! The lobby is beautifully designed with an escape room under construction on the left side (now open - "Save Sir Carter"), a huge event space on the right, and a grand staircase leading up to the two escape rooms on the 2nd floor. You will feel like you’ve entered a fairytale land. The first room we were attempting here was called “The Dame Disappears”. It was inspired by the famous British mystery novelist Agatha Christie’s disappearance. We have been called by the Scotland Yards to come and examine her bedroom while her husband has been called in for questioning and we have an hour to find out what had happened to her. As we entered the room, all the props and decor felt like it was from the 1920's. Since the escape room is in an actual house, there was actually a usable bathroom in the room. We would’ve love to see what the owner could do in terms of utilizing that in a future design but currently it was just being described as “not in play”. There was one puzzle we thought the sequence was a bit off, but the answer was quite obvious so it didn’t hinder our gameplay. We loved the different types of puzzles that was incorporated in the room since it wasn’t all just combo locks but the places that tech was used was still in line with the story. There was a lot of information that we did collect which we ended up eliminating as they were just décor so do make sure you are organized in this room in terms of what’s important and what is merely a prop. We haven’t seen this one particular puzzle anywhere else before. It was quite simple but used well as logically we could see a detective doing that. Moreover, the bonus ending in the latter part was a nice discovery. We can’t wait to tackle their more challenging room next: “The Legend of the Fairy Queen”. Mystery Rooms. Our next room, “The Legend of the Fairy Queen”, was a very fun theme. It was rated more difficult than the previous room we did and when we completed it, we did feel that there were more puzzles in this room. The story for this room was that we’re staying with our grandparents for the summer in their farmhouse attic. Since they weren't home when we got there, our grandfather had set up a scavenger hunt to keep us busy. But as we were finding clues to his puzzles, we discovered someone else also “lives” here and it seemed like they were in trouble and needed our help. There was a lot of information that was visible to us when we entered the room. I would suggest “divide and conquer” would be the best strategy here. As a more experienced player, we did not waste our time on some of the props but I would say it would be more helpful to bolt some of them down as the new players would definitely spend a lot time looking through each and every one of them. The clue system did become problematic during our game, but our game master came quickly to the door to assist us with hints when we needed it, so it did not delay our gameplay. There was one puzzle that became confusing to us because there’s a certain temporary puzzle in place as some pieces were missing and a tech item wasn't functioning. We think it would probably be best to either remove the puzzle or repair the current as it did trouble us a bit with the temporary clues that were in place and disrupted the game flow. We did enjoy a lot of the details that were put in this room in terms of utilizing everything on toys and games with the relatable age frame. It made us feel like kids again and doing a real scavenger hunt. The latter development of the storyline was also entertaining. We love the décor changes throughout the storytelling. The only thing we felt could improve would be to incorporate more puzzles and distribute it more evenly throughout the game rooms as the last part of the game felt a bit “empty”, but it was supposed to the “wow” ending room. Great Scott!! Mystery Rooms in Storyteller’s Cottage was such a pleasure to visit. We didn’t want to leave at the end. The owner had to have spread some kind of “magic dust” in the air because we will definitely be back! We went in with three people total and accomplished about 70% of the room. The owner is a very friendly guy who builds all his rooms. The waiting area could use some updating. There's not much high tech materials used but he did stuck to the theme in terms of the props he used. Although there's a few props in there that needed some updating as some were torn by other players. The great thing about this location is that even if you have two people you can still book the room as a private party. *Since we've played this room the owner has revamped the room to make it "less scary" for the players although we didn't felt that at all and now it's called "Lost in Space". * We regret to inform this company has closed its doors * #CiciCao #IRLescaperoom #EscapeRooms #UltimateEscape #MindBreak #Sci-Fi #Connecticut #USA

  • Ultimate Escape, LLC ("MindBreak Escape") - "Secret Agent"

LOCATION: Norwich, Connecticut, USA Photo above is property of Ultimate Escape, LLC 📝  ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Secret Agent 📅 DATE PLAYED: March 31, 2018 🎬 GENRE: Spy, Espionage 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 3 ppl): 6/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 8 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $24.99/ pp (Public), $200.00 (Private) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes We went back to give this place another try, this time in their "Secret Agent" room. We had three people this time and was able to book it as a private party. As mentioned in our first review of the "Alien Abduction" room, the waiting area could use some updating. Since the owner builds his own rooms, there's not much technology involved. Most of the puzzles were operated by number locks. The puzzles were quite linear and a bit easier than the "Alien Abduction" room that we tried. There were a few "tools" we've never encountered in this room that was clever and well incorporated into this theme. Overall, it's a great beginner room to tackle. * We regret to inform this company has closed its doors * #CiciCao #IRLescaperoom #EscapeRooms  #UltimateEScape #MindBreak #Espionage #Connecticut #USA

  • Ultimate Escape, LLC ("MindBreak Escape") - "Quest For The Throne"

LOCATION: Norwich, Connecticut, USA Photo above is property of Ultimate Escape, LLC Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝  ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Quest For The Throne 📅 DATE PLAYED: July 15, 2018 🎬 GENRE: Medieval 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 4 ppl): 6/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 8 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $24.99/ pp (Public), $200.00 (Private) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: No Finishing off their last room, we came back with another couple totaling four people to attempt the "Quest For The Throne" room. As mentioned in our previous reviews on the "Alien Abduction" and the "Secret Agent" room, the waiting area could use some updating. Since the owner builds his own rooms, there's no high tech equipment incorporated into your experience. Most of the puzzles were operated by number locks which we don't mind as long as they are logical which in this room they were. The hint system is quite unique as he basically puts the hints in correspondence with the puzzle folders. So it's extremely tempting to look at since they are right there and the hints are pretty much unlimited. We did use a few, but definitely tried to refrain from any temptation. The design was minimal to the theme but there was one "cool" gadget. It seems like sometimes it may be a bit "stuck" depending on how you use it. We did appreciate that the room didn't have too many red herrings and it was direct and to the point. The "Quest For The Throne" is definitely recommended for beginner escapers to try. * We regret to inform this company has closed its doors * #CiciCao #IRLescaperoom #EscapeRooms  #UltimateEscape #MindBreak #Medieval #Connecticut #USA
