  • Mystery Soup Escape Rooms (formerly Lock & Clue) - "Agent Z.E.N."

LOCATION: Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA Photo above is property of Mystery Soup Escape Rooms Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐Ÿ“ย ย  ETR DECODER ๐Ÿ”‘ GAME : Agent Z.E.N. ๐Ÿ“… DATE PLAYED : July 9, 2022 ๐ŸŽฌ GENRE : Spy, Espionage ๐Ÿง  DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 7.5/10 ๐Ÿ‘ฅ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-8 ppl (Recommend 4-5 ppl) ๐Ÿ•’ LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins. ๐Ÿ’ฐ PRICE : $45.00/ pp โ˜Ž๏ธ BOOKING TYPE : Private ๐Ÿ”“ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes ๐Ÿ“– THE STORY While out on a top secret espionage mission, your mentor Agent Z.E.N. has mysteriously vanished. As a result, you and your fellow recruits are now put to the test to demonstrate what you've learned out in the field. Your mission objective is to locate and retrieve a thumb drive that contains sensitive top secret data. Do you possess the skills and tactics to carry out this mission? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ŸŽฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE "Agent Z.E.N." is not your typical spy/espionage escape room storyline. The creator implemented bonus missions along the way. If you've accomplish the main goal and still have time left on the mission, you can go back to work on the bonus cases. We liked that the game also involved some strategy element to it. Since this game is score-based, you might want to see if its worthwhile to spend your time solving the bonus cases or accomplish the main goal and return to base early. When we first stepped inside "Agent Z.E.N." , we thought: "there's got to be more to this room than meets the eye"... and there sure was! Although, we could've guessed where the secret entrance was located, we were still surprised by the "change of scenery". Some of the non-tech puzzles were actually our favorite ones. They really played into the theme of discovering the hidden secrets within a remote location. ๐Ÿงฉ MISSED THE MARK One of the puzzles required us to trigger something in order for us to visualize a clue but the prop felt like loose wires and we weren't sure if we were supposed to touch it or not. Perhaps a more visible sign or clue would help as a player could easily apply too much force and might damage it as well. One of the clues could be confusing in the current state (the owner took our advise and will probably be changing this soon). ๐Ÿน TAKE A SHOT? " Agent Z.E.N. " felt like a hybrid of " The Vault " and " The Sorcerer's Curse " in the sense that it had a good mixture of traditional and tech usage. The puzzles were not as complicated, but there's a lot to solve. As a team of two, we got out with minutes to spare but no time to complete any of the bonus puzzles. There's going to be a lot of running back and forth and if you have a great memory and great at organizing, then you'll have an upper hand with this game. If you want to fully experience this room, definitely bring more teammates. You can easily divide and conquer the tasks. So far there's no team that has been able to complete all the bonus cases yet. Are you ready to take on this challenge? โ„น๏ธ ADDITIONAL INFO Street parking available (metered) Located on the 2nd floor (no elevator) Lobby area with seating available and merchandise for sale Water stand provided This game was played when owned by Lock & Clue (the previous owners) Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Check out our YouTube video for a sneak peek of the location, interview with the owner, the room(s) (no puzzle spoilers) and more: Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from " ESCAPETHEROOMers "!) • Escape New Haven - "The Double Cross"

LOCATION: New Haven, Connecticut, USA Photo above is property of Escape New Haven Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐Ÿ“ย ย  ETR DECODER ๐Ÿ”‘ GAME : The Double Cross ๐Ÿ“… DATE PLAYED : August 8, 2024 ๐ŸŽฌ GENRE : Heist ๐Ÿง  DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 5/10 ๐Ÿ‘ฅ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 4-8 ppl (Recommend 2-4 ppl) ๐Ÿ•’ LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins. ๐Ÿ’ฐ PRICE : $30.00 - $46.00/ pp (depending on day and # of ppl) โ˜Ž๏ธ BOOKING TYPE : Private ๐Ÿ”“ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes ๐Ÿ“– THE STORY As master thieves, you've pulled off some spectacular heists, including the recent theft of the famed "Ark of Atlantis". However, your collaborator on that job double-crossed you and stole it for himself! So, now it's up to you to break into his private gallery, find the Ark, and figure out how to unlock its hidden treasure before he returns in one hourโ€ฆ ๐ŸŽฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE As with their other games, Escape New Haven starts setting the scene before you even arrive via a welcome email. In this case, itโ€™s from your lady on the inside; she gets you prepped for whatโ€™s to come with some practical details but completely within the gameโ€™s story. We love this kind of extra little love and effort to amp up anticipation and get you started thinking about being IN the world. There is great in-world signposting to help guide you in how to crack each puzzle, through both physical items and video messages from your woman on the inside, Simone. (You also have the option of communication with your base of operations, who can provide extra hints if needed.) There was even an unexpected, fun moment that occurred mid-game to drive home the immersion, without being intrusive. This is a fairly nonlinear room, with plenty of parallel tasks to keep multiple people or subgroups occupied along the way. The puzzles are nicely tied to the theme, feature a wide variety of mechanisms, and incorporate components in unexpected ways. Most have multiple levels as well as built-in adaptive difficulty, so that the number of levels you face can be reduced (or entire puzzles cut out of the flow) for groups that are not progressing as quickly. You'll also get to use a wide range of "spy gear" as you work through the room, including both practical elements to streamline solves (like headphones for an audio puzzle), realistic blueprints that offer guidance, and cooler items that will have you channeling your inner safecracker. The overall set design appears quite simple and streamlined, but the original statuettes (conceived and created by the Escape New Haven crew) that you must acquire are beautifully and creatively rendered. It's incredibly satisfying each time you gain access to another! ๐Ÿงฉ MISSED THE MARK There is little narrative progression during the game, and we found the ending a bit confusingโ€ฆwe thought we still had something we ought to try to do when we'd actually finished and won. A bit more of a bang at the conclusion would help wrap up the tension of the great heist! ๐Ÿน TAKE A SHOT? " The Double Cross " is a fantastic introductory game. There is a decent amount of smoothly integrated in-game guidance to help newer groups in solving the puzzles. Coupled with the adaptive difficulty, it's a room that is intended to ensure a fun, successful experience that will keep newbies coming back for more! If you're enthusiasts looking for a brain-burner, this may not scratch that itch. However, younger players, corporate groups, and those curious as to what escape rooms are all about will find this just right, with plenty of tactile, gadget-y interactions that make you feel like a master thief. And we still had fun stealing stuff! Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers โ„น๏ธ ADDITIONAL INFO Escape New Haven is easy to find in downtown New Haven. There is on-street parking (both 2 and 5-hr limit areas) as well as parking lots nearby (both are paid). The location itself is well marked with a big sign on the front of the building. The rooms are located down a flight of stairs. Once inside, there are fun benches (modeled after six sided dice) with storage compartments beneath. They have merch for sale, as well as bathrooms, a coat rack (in a fun room with board games on the walls) and a water bottle filling station - much appreciated after our drive! There are also beautiful movie posters made for each room, crediting the employees who worked on each one and decorated with a Hollywood-approved velvet rope. Will today be your "lucky" day? We'll know soon enough... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ŸŽฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE Imagine our faces when we found out that the escape room was actually hidden inside the trailer in the lobby! We were totally fooled by what we thought was just some fancy decoration. After participating in numerous escape rooms with Bigfoot themes in the past, the exceptional level of immersion offered by this particular game, which takes place in a mobile trailer and involves interactions with Bigfoot himself, distinguished it as a top choice for us. The experience truly evoked a sense of a "close" encounter. We stumbled upon an out-of-the-box puzzle featuring a tiny prop that turned out to be incredibly fun! The realistic experience of confronting Big Foot and the clever use of props to contain him added to our enjoyment of the game. ๐Ÿงฉ MISSED THE MARK The trailer contained a lot of information that could be seen as red herrings. We recommend removing irrelevant decorations. Most of the clues did not align well with the puzzles, making it challenging to establish logical connections. There was an image puzzle lacking clear instructions, requiring significant assistance from the GM to progress. The hint system provided by the GM was limited to pre-written clues, complicating the guidance process. At times, we were uncertain if our inputs were registered, as there was no visual or auditory confirmation. One puzzle early on required multiple inputs contrary to our initial assumptions. In this case, input confirmation is highly recommended. ๐Ÿน TAKE A SHOT? The simulation of a Bigfoot attack in the trailer was an incredibly immersive experience that truly felt like the real deal. The attention to detail was astounding, from the vibrations and shaking that made us feel like we were right in the middle of the action to the realistic sound of Bigfoot stomping in the woods, creating a sense of impending danger that sent our hearts racing. As we frantically gathered the items we had collected throughout the game to trap the creature at the end, the adrenaline-fueled excitement reached its peak. The satisfaction of successfully outsmarting Bigfoot was exhilarating, making the entire experience unforgettable. However, while the overall concept was thrilling, there is room for improvement in the puzzle design to ensure a smoother gameplay flow. Fine-tuning the puzzles to provide clearer clues and a more logical progression would undoubtedly enhance the overall experience and make it even more engaging for players. For those seeking an adventure with the legendary Bigfoot, this simulation offers a unique and immersive opportunity to come face to face with the creature in a safe yet thrilling environment. It's as close as you can get to experiencing the thrill of encountering Bigfoot in real life, making it a must-try for fans of cryptid mysteries and adrenaline-pumping escapades. โ„น๏ธ ย  ADDITIONAL INFO Free parking in front Lobby with waiting area & lockers available Merchandise for sale **Warning This Room is a simulation of a REAL BIGFOOT ATTACK, Which Includes: Extreme Shaking, Motion/Vibrations, Loud Noise, Visual And Lighting Effects** They can disable the motion for players whom wish to experience this game with out the movement Children under the age of 8 are NOT allowed inside. Can you dive into her spiritual world and help her clear this demon from her mind? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ŸŽฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE The presence of live actors made the game more intense. I liked how the game flowed from the beginning to the end. This game was based on the narrative to a certain degree, so the game had several dramatic moments with the actor. Although the live actor was scary (for me!), there was no jump scare part in the game. He was not involved in the time when we worked on the puzzles. I appreciated that we had separate time to focus on the puzzles and enjoy the scary part by the actor. All puzzles fit well with the theme and its story. Most of them were not overly complicated. The structure of the game was quite simple and easy to follow. The next puzzle was guided by the light in the room just like their other games. Hints by the electric message board and our game master were helpful. ๐Ÿงฉ MISSED THE MARK The game master was not present in the room. Yet, there was a point when my game master warned the demon was coming. It might be more immersive if characters or other things in the game let players know that. ๐Ÿน TAKE A SHOT? โ€œ Escape from the Abyss of Nightmare โ€ was a dramatic horror-themed escape room with a live actor. Some content might not be suitable for some people. Yet, there was no jump scare. It may be just right to enjoy the drama, the puzzles, and screaming with friends and family. Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ถ๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ…ผ๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ฟ๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ†ˆ How this Exit game is played, based on the instructions, is that we would begin at the start of the game book. From there, we will encounter different puzzles where each one will correspond to a symbol like a star, square, triangle, etc. Once we believe we solved the puzzle of 3 numbers, we will enter it into the solution wheel. The wheel would tell us what card to take in the solution deck and it will tell us if we are correct or not. If we are correct, there will be instructions on how to proceed. Compared to other Exit games, this one had a linear structure to it, where we would encounter each puzzle one at a time, instead of gaining access to a lot of things all at once. This one had more of a story behind it as well as each puzzle gave us more narrative as we moved to different areas of the school. Exit game components are typically meant to be destroyed to solve puzzles and this one was no different. We found that for some, if you didnโ€™t want to destroy it, you could photocopy pieces of the game and avoid writing on it but there were a couple of puzzles that absolutely need to be destroyed to complete. As someone who sometimes hates to wreck components, we would encourage you though to embrace the destruction and play the game to its full potential, which allows for some very satisfying puzzle solving. Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ฟ๐Ÿ†„๐Ÿ†‰๐Ÿ†‰๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…ด๐Ÿ†‚ Each puzzle was different and was creative in the way that Exit games are. All were done great with thought out flavor text. For anyone who has trouble with color, there was one puzzle where we had a lot of trouble working with the different colors presented. The last puzzle though was satisfying once we got it. The puzzles ramped up well with easier ones at the start and getting us to a well-earned ending. The puzzles were a little on the easier side with their easier rating for this game, which was perfect for the kids. How the hint system works for Exit games is that there is a designated hint deck. Each puzzle has a designated shape. If you need a hint, find the 4 cards with that shape on it. The first 3 cards will give you gradual hints while the 4th card will explain the answer to you. This is the perfect game to introduce new puzzlers to Exit games. The puzzles were at a beginner level but had all the qualities that make Exit games stand out. We played with 3 players which was a good number. There were items for 4 people. Any wizard lovers, Exit fans or people who like clever puzzles would enjoy this game. This one was a spell-tacular and charm-ing game experience. The intro video more fully introducing you to the story also draws you in with strong acting. We were very impressed with the level of tech in this room and the fact that all of it worked perfectly!! On the puzzle side, this led to clean and satisfying tactile solves of the beginner-friendly challenges, making it a treat for your senses. • Arcane Wonders - "Onitama" (w/ Expansion Packs - "Sensei's Path", "Way of the Wind" and "Light and Shadow")

Photo above is property of Arcane Wonders Company: Arcane Wonders Game: Onitama (w/ expansion packs - "Sensei's Path", "Way of the Wind", and "Light and Shadow") Country: USA ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Language: English Type of Game: Tabletop Game (Board Game) ๐Ÿ“ฌ Genre: Abstract Strategy Date Played: September 13, 2024 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 4/10 Size of Team: 2 ppl Time: Unlimited (Approximately 15-25 Mins.) Price: $87.99 USD ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ†‚๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†ˆ " Onitama " is an elegant, fast-paced abstract strategy game for two players that blends simplicity with depth. Set in a tranquil dojo, players take on the roles of martial arts masters, each guiding their students in a battle of wits and movement. The goal is to either capture your opponentโ€™s master or to occupy their dojo's sacred temple space. ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ฒ๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ…ผ๐Ÿ…ฟ๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ…ฝ๐Ÿ…ด๐Ÿ…ฝ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ†‚ The game comes in a beautifully crafted box that elegantly houses all its components. The artwork on the box and most of the interior is visually stunning and thematically consistent from every angle. I particularly appreciated the magnetic clasp, which makes opening and closing the box smooth and convenient. However, the box's long, unconventional shape can make storage a bit trickier compared to more standard game boxes. Inside, you'll find ten high-quality plastic figurinesโ€”five red and five blueโ€”as well as a player mat adorned with exquisite Asian-themed artwork. I especially love that the dojo is represented by a mat rather than cardboard, adding a touch of luxury and enhancing the gameโ€™s visual appeal on the table. The movement cards are also noteworthy; they are oversized and feature simple yet thematic artwork, further enriching the gameโ€™s immersive experience. Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ถ๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ…ผ๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ฟ๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ†ˆ What sets " Onitama " apart is its unique movement system. Each game uses only five randomly drawn movement cards from a set of sixteen, two held by each player and one set aside. On a playerโ€™s turn, they must choose one of their cards to move one of their pieces, then pass that card into the middle space โ€“ their opponent will then receive this card at the end of their next move. This creates a constantly shifting tactical puzzle, as players must think several steps ahead while adapting to their opponentโ€™s evolving options. Movement cards can be assigned to any of your pieces, each card offering a distinct range of movement options for that piece. Similar to Chess, if your piece lands on the same space as an opponent's piece, you capture it and remove it from the game. The cards are placed face-up on the table, so your opponent is always aware of your potential moves and the cards you might play next. This transparency is a key aspect of the gameโ€™s strategy, what benefits you now could later turn into a challenge. Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐Ÿ…ด๐Ÿ…ฝ๐Ÿ…ณ ๐Ÿ…ถ๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ…ผ๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ†‚๐Ÿ…ฒ๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ…ธ๐Ÿ…ฝ๐Ÿ…ถ There are two ways to win - the "Way of the Stone" or the "Way of the Stream". The first player to do either one of these wins the game. To win using the "Way of the Stone" you must capture your opponentโ€™s Master using any of your pieces. To win using the "Way of the Stream" you must move your own Master into the starting space of the opponentโ€™s Master โ€“ their temple. ๐Ÿ…ฒ๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ†‚๐Ÿ…ธ๐Ÿ…ฝ๐Ÿ…ถ ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ†„๐Ÿ…ถ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ†‚ With its minimal components and straightforward rules, " Onitama " provides a deep, contemplative experience thatโ€™s easy to learn yet rich in strategic depth, making each match feel like a mental duel. Fans of Chess or Go will appreciate its complex strategic elements, albeit on a smaller scale. For those who find traditional abstract games too intricate, Onitama serves as a perfect introduction. The compact play area and the open card display enable quick gameplay, especially as you become more familiar with the game. Its portability makes it an ideal choice for outings like picnics or travel. Setup and takedown are effortless, taking only seconds, and the simple rules ensure you won't waste time re-reading them. However, be cautious of analysis paralysis, overthinking moves can slow down the game. To mitigate this, we often set a time limit for each turn. For added complexity, variety, and replay-ability, " Onitama " offers three main expansions and several promo cards that can be collected and integrated into the base game. ๐Ÿ…ด๐Ÿ†‡๐Ÿ…ฟ๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ…ฝ๐Ÿ†‚๐Ÿ…ธ๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ…ฝ๐Ÿ†‚ Senseiโ€™s Path - This expansion consists of sixteen new movement cards that can be used in replacement of, or combined with, those from the base game in order to have more variety during play. Photo above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Way of the Wind โ€“ This expansion not only adds new movement cards, but it also adds a new piece. The adorable Wind Spirit joins the contest, moving around the board in a neutral manner, since it cannot capture pieces. The Wind Spirit acts more as a defensive token since it can block your opponents and switch place with other pawns (but not Masters). The expansion definitely adds another layer of complexity to the game, albeit a small amount, but it helps keep it fresh and enticing to play. This is an expansion worth purchasing if you are already familiar with the game and looking for more ways to enjoy an already excellent two player experience. Photo above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Light and Shadow โ€“ This is the newest, largest, and most transformative expansion for " Onitama ". In addition to introducing more movement cards, it brings new characters, ninjas, along with lanterns and a unique game board to complement the original. Ninjas move only in the shadows, and their positions are hidden behind a secrecy screen, leaving your opponent in the dark about where they are until they strike. This introduces a hidden movement mechanic, adding a whole new layer of strategy to the game. Lanterns become crucial tools, allowing you to illuminate dark areas and expose the lurking ninjas. However, youโ€™re limited to just two lanterns per game, so they must be used wisely. While this expansion adds exciting new dimensions to gameplay, it also changes the pacing, making the game a bit slower and less streamlined compared to the original. We enjoy incorporating it occasionally, but itโ€™s not an expansion we use every time. Itโ€™s also not recommended for first-time players; we suggest getting comfortable with the base game before deciding whether to add this expansion to your collection. He just called the diner to let us know that he had left his lucky dice in the diner and he needed it to win the race. Will we get it to him in time? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ŸŽฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE The dรฉcor of the diner was spot on. From the details on the leather seats and diner tables to the retro soda machine and jukebox, everything feels authentic. We love it when escape room companies also take into consideration of the floors and ceilings when they design the room and this room was the complete package. Puzzles were on point with the theme of the room and very enjoyable to solve. Everything was used in the room and there were no red herrings. The thought process of one puzzle leading to another was very smooth. Although most of the gameplay felt linear, there were a few puzzles that can be worked on simultaneous at the beginning. ๐Ÿงฉ MISSED THE MARK Always looking for that one hidden element of โ€œsurpriseโ€ in an escape room. Not sure if thereโ€™s any โ€œroomโ€ for an extension but really looking forward to a โ€œpart 2โ€. Currently there are a few dรฉcor pieces that we think can also add a bit more flavor to the diner. During our interview with the owner, they stated that itโ€™s already in the works. There is a small fix needed for some props that may hinder a bit of time during game play if they get lost, but hopefully the owners will figure out a concept that'll fix this issue. Perhaps as enthusiasts, we were hoping that the last piece to solve the ending was actually going to be another puzzle instead of a finale. We were hoping for a little more of a โ€œwowโ€ moment. ๐Ÿน TAKE A SHOT? This room was a lot of fun. We love it so much that we would go back and play it again. The puzzles were not difficult, but they were a lot of fun. This room is great for kids and family to tackle together. The room can comfortably fit a large group, but our recommendation is 4 people for the number of puzzles in the room (although 2 ppl can make it a fun date night for sure). Foodies, please do consider going in on a full stomach or you might be stuck in the diner forever... ๐Ÿ”Ž HINT Look at them separately from left to right. The unfamiliar surroundings create a tense atmosphere, making every moment critical. You'll encounter alien life forms and cryptic messages that could either help or hinder your escape. Your problem-solving skills and teamwork will be tested as you race against time. Can you outsmart the aliens and return to Earth? Video above is property of Lock, Clock, and Peril Escape Rooms ๐ŸŽฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE The room doesn't take itself too seriously, making the experience thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. The lighthearted tone allows players to relax and appreciate the fun elements of the game. The puzzles seamlessly integrate into the storyline, enhancing the overall experience. As you progress, you'll find that the challenges are well-designed and fit perfectly within the narrative. For those who manage to complete the game, a hilarious reveal at the end shifts the entire perspective of the room, adding an extra layer of enjoyment. Context clues sprinkled throughout the room make this reveal even more satisfying, showcasing the top-tier design of Teleporter Trials. ๐Ÿงฉ MISSED THE MARK There are a couple of puzzles in the room that involve mazes. While inherently fun, they don't always make a lot of sense in terms of game structure. This doesn't detract from the overall experience, but it's something to be aware of where the design slightly falls flat. Despite this, the room remains a wonderful experience. Some of the intro videos seem a little cheaply done, but they successfully convey the story and add a humorous element that your friends can enjoy. These minor issues are easily overshadowed by the overall fun and engaging nature of the game. ๐Ÿน TAKE A SHOT? All in all, " Teleporter Trials " is a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. With its immersive storytelling and fun, inclusive puzzles, there is sure to be something for everyone to enjoy. The game does an excellent job of balancing challenge and entertainment, making it an ideal experience for players of all ages. Itโ€™s a family-friendly game that doesnโ€™t take itself too seriously, which adds significantly to the overall enjoyment. The narrative of " Teleporter Trials " is cleverly woven into the puzzles, creating a seamless and engaging experience. As you progress through the game, youโ€™ll find yourself piecing together bits of the story, which culminate in a satisfying and often humorous reveal. The game masterfully drops hints of different story beats throughout, and when the reveal is finally concluded, your group is left with smiles on their faces, feeling accomplished and entertained. One minor downside is that some of the intro videos, while effective in conveying the story, are a bit jarring in their quality. This is a small flaw in an otherwise fantastic experience. The puzzles, though challenging, are inclusive and varied, ensuring that every team member can contribute and enjoy the process. There are a couple of puzzles involving mazes that, while fun, donโ€™t always make the most sense in the context of the gameโ€™s structure. However, these minor issues do not detract from the overall experience. The atmosphere and set design are top-notch, fully immersing you in the world of Teleporter Trials. The hints and clues are cleverly integrated into the environment, enhancing the sense of discovery and adventure. The power outage plunges you into total darkness! Will you be able to restore power in time? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ŸŽฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE The situation is quite unique. Instead of being placed in a pitch dark room to begin the game, we had to find our way into the darkness as part of the storyline. One of the initial puzzles in the game is really interesting. We particularly liked the method of interacting with the prop. Despite the limited space, we never experienced any issues with bumping into each other. In fact, I always sensed a subtle guidance that helped me navigate the room. The puzzles focused on our sense of touch, perception of objects in darkness, and at times even sound. It was an overwhelming sensory experience. Receiving clear instructions on what needs to be done and how many tasks are remaining provided valuable guidance during the final puzzles in the darkness. ๐Ÿงฉ MISSED THE MARK Integrating the hint system through a character into the story could enhance the immersive experience. Perhaps a mechanic or office manager? ๐Ÿน TAKE A SHOT? We have a deep appreciation for the intriguing world of dark escape room concepts, a realm that unfortunately remains relatively unexplored. It is a rare delight to encounter a pitch-dark escape game, with this particular experience marking only the second time we have ventured into such a unique setting. The absence of light in these scenarios serves to heighten our remaining senses, allowing us to navigate through challenges that would otherwise be straightforward in a well-lit environment. The deliberate design of this game aims to immerse players in a world where tactile and auditory take precedence over vision, offering a fresh and captivating perspective on the escape room genre. The chance to immerse ourselves in and discover these alternative senses has truly elevated our gaming adventure! We were provided with clues in a clever manner, conveying essential information for solving puzzles in a secretive, encoded format. This room offered no moments of relaxation; adrenaline coursed through us the entire time. The final revelation presented the most breathtaking scenery we had ever seen. The mix of "wow" and "OMG, how do we escape this?" emotions was unparalleled compared to other experiences. We swiftly devised and executed a plan. It truly felt like a moment of stardom when we ultimately outsmarted The Machine. ๐Ÿงฉ ย  MISSED THE MARK This room is well-designed. The storyline and puzzles were cohesive and logical. It has been some time since we were challenged to utilize all our skills to stay alive. ๐Ÿน TAKE A SHOT? This game at Captivating Worlds is truly a test of skill and wit, standing out as the most challenging among the three we've experienced. Upon initial observation, the room may not seem overwhelmingly difficult, but as you progress, the true essence of the game unfolds, demanding more time and effort towards the final goal. The storyline is crafted to evoke a sense of adrenaline, ensuring that players go through heart-pounding moments that resonate with the overall theme of the game. One of the striking aspects of this game is the incorporation of advanced technology that is novel and impressive. Throughout the gameplay, we encountered innovations that consistently left us in awe, eliciting numerous "wow" moments that added to the overall excitement and engagement. The combination of agility akin to James Bond and the strategic thinking reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes creates a dynamic gameplay experience that challenges both physical and mental abilities. As you navigate through the challenges and puzzles, it is crucial to stay sharp and observant, drawing on a blend of quick thinking and analytical reasoning to progress. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ŸŽฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE Ever find yourself trapped in an escape room, questioning your life choices like, "Why am I voluntarily subjecting myself to this madness?" Well, that's exactly the existential crisis I had when I stumbled into the eerie hideout of a deranged killer. The walls looked like they haven't seen daylight since the Stone Age, and the room was darker than a black hole with a tiny ray of hope struggling to survive. The atmosphere was so thick with the terror of past "victims" that I could practically taste the fear, and trust me, it didn't taste like victory. We had to part ways at the start of the game - talk about drama! I decided to cozy up in a jail cell because, hey, four walls are better than none, right? Meanwhile, my partner in crime had the daunting task of busting me out. Those puzzles really brought out the teamwork spirit, not to mention putting your buddy's loyalty to the ultimate test. Shoutout to Brandon for not leaving me hanging like a character in a horror flick! We liked the puzzles that required us to think fast about the objects around us in order to unlock or activate certain elements, enhancing the realism of the situations. One puzzle required us to be cautious with our hands, and usually, such puzzles offer no way to bypass them. Surprisingly, this one became easier after a few failed attempts, providing us with a path to progress in our escape. Nearing the end, there was a puzzle with a rather long sequence, strategically placed to increase the tension as our time was running out. It vividly evoked the intensity of life-and-death situations. The conclusion of this escape experience remains etched in my memory. The final action is still vivid in my mind to this day. ๐Ÿงฉ MISSED THE MARK Enjoy every second of outwitting the collector. Can't wait for you to try and catch me so we can play another round soon! ๐Ÿน TAKE A SHOT? For those who are passionate about the SAW movie series, or any horror movie enthusiasts, this escape room experience is an absolute must-try. Even if you typically shy away from horror-themed rooms due to fear, this one is worth stepping out of your comfort zone for. Rest assured, there are no live actors to intensify the scares, and the jump scares are kept at a manageable level. The attention to detail in the set design and the intricate "games" you will encounter in the room create an atmosphere that closely resembles a real-life serial killer's lair - a chilling yet intriguing experience that you may not want to encounter in reality, but can safely explore here. Mind Trap Escape Rooms consistently impresses with their high production value, leaving players eager for more. • Ultimate Yokohama Japan One-Day Guide Near Cruise Port!

Photos are all property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Geography: On the Western coast of Tokyo Bay, about 20 miles SW of Tokyo. Population: Approx. 3.7 Million Currency: Japanese Yen (Yen) ; Currency Converter Cruise Port: Google Map Location Tender Port: No Best Time to Visit: Fall (late September to November) and Spring (March-May) This cruise port is where we will embark on the Celebrity Millennium ship for a 12-Day voyage (Departs on August 19, 2024 at 7PM) through different islands of Japan, including a visit to Jeju Island, Korea. We are thrilled about this trip as it has been a long-awaited item on our agenda. Arriving a day in advance, we took the opportunity to explore the area and ensure we are punctual for the cruise departure. The majority of our travel within the city was by bus rather than train, and we found the Suica card convenient for all our transportation needs. During our stay in Yokohama, we lodged at the Hyatt Regency where they offer various complimentary amenity items such as nail polish remover, iron, etc. The service was also exceptional. This hotel is an excellent choice if you plan to embark on a cruise the following day, as it is just a 10-minute walk to the terminal. Please be aware that there is an uphill stretch near the terminal where you may need to push your luggage. Yokohama Chinatown is conveniently located just a 7-minute walk away, offering a wide variety of food options. The street is lined with delicious food stalls, making it difficult to decide what to try. To make my choice easier, I opted for the stalls with the longest lines. After purchasing a selection of items, I brought them back to the hotel to enjoy, as seating options are limited for street food unless dining in a restaurant. We traveled by bus to Hammerhead and then proceeded to explore Red Brick Warehouse, Marine & Walk, Shino Pier Cruise Terminal, World Porters, and the Ramen Noodle Museum on foot. The ramen food court at the pier cruise terminal was excellent, offering a variety of desserts to enjoy as well. On the second floor, you can visit the hammerhead for a photo opportunity. We boarded a red "tourism" bus to the Pokemon Center. It's important to ensure you are on the correct route, as otherwise, you might reach the final destination by going the opposite way. This happened to us, but it turned out fine as we ended up exploring a large mall nearby. The bus fare remains constant regardless of the distance traveled. The Pokemon Center tends to be overcrowded on weekends. Upon reaching the 0101 building, you'll find the center on the 8th floor. This location is larger and offers a wider selection compared to the one in Tokyo. The following day, we savored a delightful breakfast at "A Happy Pancake". It's truly delicious. Be sure to arrive early to skip the queues. The pancakes are incredibly fluffy (they jiggle just like how I saw them on Youtube!), with a wide variety of flavors available. Don't forget to explore the seasonal limited-edition options. The flavored coffees are also excellent. Then we went to a new escape room company called " Dark escapE ". The owner generously hosted us to play all three of their games. We really enjoyed the experience. If you have time, definitely check them out! • 3-Day Itinerary: Things to Do in Tokyo, Japan!

Photos are all property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Geography: Japan's capital. Located in the Kanto region of Honshu. Population: Approx. 37 Million Currency: Japanese Yen (Yen) ; Currency Converter Best Time to Visit: March-April & September-November We chose to spend a few days in Japan before starting our 12-day cruise in Yokohama. Our arrival was on August 15th, 2024, at 2:30 PM. We decided to book a stay at the Hilton Tokyo due to its convenient location for our planned destinations. I hope you find this blog "things to do in Tokyo" useful for your trip planning. Upon arrival, we took advantage of the Airport Limo Bus service straight to the hotel, which was a more cost-effective option at ยฅ1,400 per person compared to other transportation methods. As a special gesture for our anniversary, the hotel upgraded our room and even gave us a complimentary gift. This allowed us access to either the downstairs buffet or the executive lounge upstairs, which also offered afternoon tea and cocktail hours. Additionally, the hotel provided easy access to the subway line from the lobby. Amenities at the hotel included an indoor pool, lounge, gym, and tennis court. I highly recommend staying at this hotel! Day 1 (half day) Following our hotel check-in, we proceeded directly to Omotesando street for a quick lunch at Kaiten Sushi Ginza Onodera HONTEN . By 4:30 PM, the establishment was already bustling, so without a reservation, you may experience a slight wait. We found the place somewhat overhyped considering the prices. The conveyor belt wasn't operational, the sushi was mediocre (some pieces didn't taste fresh), and we had to fetch our own water in terms of service. Complimentary hot green tea is available, and you can prepare it using the provided powder at your table. Our next destination was Mipig Cafe , which is conveniently located within walking distance from where we had lunch. Along the way, you can also pass by Koffee Mameya , Cat Street (great for shopping), and the famous BPC Donut. If you are a fan of mini pigs, this is a must-visit spot. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance as they tend to be fully booked. Upon arrival, you will be provided with clean slippers and asked to store your belongings in a locker (except for your phone, which you can keep for taking photos). Once seated, you simply wait for the pigs to approach you (though the staff will assist if needed). The pigs range from 2 to 9 months old and you will be given a blanket to protect yourself from their nails. These adorable creatures make cute sounds and enjoy chewing on their own saliva. They are also trained to use a litter box. Each visit lasts for 15 minutes, after which you will be called to leave. There are some fun and themed cafes right across the street but some do close early and need reservation in advance. , Some of the delicacies you can try on this street include the famous Marion crepes, candied strawberries and many ice cream places. The area is bustling with shops and Gachapon machines. Heading uphill, you will eventually reach Harajuku subway station at the end of the street. In case you're still feeling hungry and looking to have a late-night sit-down meal, consider visiting " Kushiyaki Bistro Fukumimi Shinjuku " for delicious yakitori and other appetizers! But if you are interested in exploring bars and nightlife, then you must visit "Golden Gai" and "Omoide Yokocho"! Day 2 Due to our jetlag, we had initially planned to visit the Tsukiji Outer Market for some delicious fresh sashimi since we'll be up early anyways. However, upon arrival, we learned that the market was closed due to a Japanese holiday and a typhoon. Undeterred by the weather, we decided to explore Japan anyway! Armed with an umbrella, we made our way to Hie Shrine . Although there is no entrance fee, visitors must climb approximately 30-40 steps to reach the top. The striking orange columns at the shrine provide a wonderful photo opportunity. Up there, you will find several temples, including one where a fee is required for prayer. We had lunch at " Syabu-yo ", an all-you-can-eat shabu shabu restaurant for 80 minutes. We opted for the premium set, which includes pork and beef with a choice of two different broths. You can select up to four broths by paying extra. It's important to place your order promptly upon seating, as you won't be able to order during the last 10 minutes of your allotted time. However, you can stay an additional 10 minutes beyond your table time to finish your meal. Be sure to time your final order correctly. Once you've placed your order, a robotic server will bring your food to the table. Remember to take items only from the blue-lit tray and leave any plates you want to be cleared at the bottom. The meal includes vegetables, drinks (some are complimentary, while soda and alcoholic beverages cost extra), dipping sauces, and desserts such as waffles, ice cream, cotton candy, and shaved ice. If you want more broth, you can order it through the app, which has an English version for easy use. After finishing your meal, take the check to the front desk for payment. The meat was delicious, and we were completely full afterward. While we were already in Shibuya, I decided to visit my favorite store, "Shibuya 109". Strangely, the store doesn't have the same appeal to me as when i visited back in high school. The clothing there now appears like cosplay to me. We quickly changed our plans and decided to visit " Mega Don Quijote " instead. It's amazing! You can easily lose track of time in there, with the brainwash songs playing in the background. Two hours passed by quickly in this huge 7-floor store. Everyone coming out seemed to be carrying more than they could with their two hands. I was surprised that we ended up spending over 5000 Yen and qualified for tax-free shopping. Most people would usually take a cart and shop from each floor and take the cart to the elevator. This could be time consuming as the elevators are quite small and they really couldn't fit many people at once. I suggest carrying either a basket or your own bag and avoid the cart. Since the tax-free counter is on the top floor, it's more practical to start from the first floor and work your way up to the seventh. Walking a bit further down the street, we arrived at Shibuya Parco . The atmosphere here is distinctly different than where we were before. The crowd is not as dense and the stores mainly comprised of high-end brands. However, with Ninento and Pokemon center located in the building, you will encounter numerous families with children once you reach that floor. Additionally, there are several themed cafes and a Starbucks on the same floor where you can take a brief break. Starbucks offers seasonal selections worth exploring. If possible, consider visiting on a weekday. Day 3 Our last day in Tokyo was jam-packed. We woke up early, enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the hotel, and headed straight to Art Aquarium . I highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance to streamline the check-in process. The aquarium opens at 10AM, and on a Sunday, there was already a crowd waiting. Upon arrival, head directly to the 9th floor where the restroom is located, as guests are encouraged to use it before entering the venue. Access to the aquarium is only available through the 9th floor, where visitors can then take an escalator down. While there is no reentry, you are free to explore the aquarium at your own pace. Follow the signs for a guided path to see all the fish displayed as art. It's truly fascinating to witness. A visit to this place is definitely worthwhile. At the end of the tour, there is a gift shop offering unique souvenirs. You can complete the visit in as little as 30 minutes or take your time exploring. After seeing numerous positive reviews on Tik-Tok, I made a reservation for " Manten Sushi Omakase " and I must say, it lived up to the hype. The restaurant was located in an underground food hall tunnel. If you spot any openings leading to an archway, step inside as it's much cooler in the tunnel during hot summer days than outside. The entire meal cost around $60 per person (payment required in advance when booking on their website). We were served over 20 dishes (only a few photos are shared here) with water as the only beverage included. Every dish was flavorful and exceptionally fresh! It was my first time trying fresh ginger in chunks rather than slices. Additionally, we were offered complimentary hot tea at the end of the meal. Following lunch, we embarked on a one-hour train journey to reach the outskirts in order to visit the stunning Hana Biyori garden. I recommend purchasing tickets in advance to avail of a discounted rate. If you are planning a day trip, you might also have time to explore the amusement park connected to the garden. Upon exiting the subway station, you will find a complimentary bus that will transport you uphill to the entrance (located on the left side after you exit the station). You can take this bus back as well, just remember to inquire about the final bus departure time. Upon entering the park, head directly to the Starbucks area where you'll find a bulletin board. Check the schedule for the light show, as it varies depending on the season. Once you have the timing, ensure you arrive at the large hall area 5 minutes before the show starts, as access will be restricted. The otter viewing station is also located here. After capturing photos in this section, you can explore other parts of the park such as the waterfall, garden, and temples (there are short stairs leading to the top). You can either complete a tour of the entire park within an hour or take your time and stay longer. Since this is our final meal in Tokyo, we decided to go big or go home! We took on the challenge of the " Ginza Happo " all-you-can-eat seafood buffet (a bit tricky to locate in the basement)! Priced at around $80 per person, it seems worthwhile only for those who can consume a substantial amount of seafood and meat. The seafood was notably fresh, featuring king crab legs, Alaska crab legs, crawfish, oysters, shrimp, sashimi, sushi, conch, snails, etc. There were also various hot dishes, Japanese starters, salad, a variety of BBQ meats (beef, pork, horse, etc.), and desserts. The price also included unlimited soft drinks and alcohol (beer, wine, sake). The buffet has a 2-hour time limit, and excess leftovers will incur additional charges. I would have preferred more choices for dipping sauces and marinated meats. Personally, I would have rather spent the money on another exquisite omakase experience. Ensure that you allocate enough time for exploring Tokyo airport, as there is a food street and an observation deck that are worth visiting before going through customs! Note that the priority pass lounge at this airport is rather small and offers limited food options, with consistently long waiting times. The bathroom is located upstairs and is separate from the seating area. While you may consider using the shower facilities, overall, it might be more worthwhile to spend your time elsewhere. • Ultimate Two-Day Osaka & Nara (Cruise Itinerary)!

Photos are all property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Geography: Third largest city of Japan, located on the main island of Honshu Population: Approx. 2.7 Million Currency: Japanese Yen (Yen) ; Currency Converter Cruise Port: Google Map Location Tender Port: No Best Time to Visit: Fall (October/November) and Spring (March-May) Celebrity Millennium, our ship, arrived at Osaka port at 8AM on August 22 and is scheduled to leave on August 23, 2024 at 3PM. Many passengers opted to visit Kyoto, with some staying overnight, but as we had already been to Kyoto, we opted to discover Osaka and take a day trip to Nara on the following day. Although there was no complimentary shuttle service at this port, the walk to the subway took approximately 7 minutes. Day 1 The owner of Studio Escape graciously hosted us upon our arrival, so we visited the studio immediately after the ship docked. The experience was truly remarkable, and we strongly suggest making time for it if you can. Following the exciting adventure, we strolled over to Nanba Yasaka Jinja to capture some memorable photos. Afterward, we proceeded to stroll to Kuromon for lunch. The wide array of choices made it challenging for us to decide. Eventually, we settled on a delightful okonomiyaki restaurant where the staff skillfully squeezed the mayo high up in the air. Our next stop was to the underground shopping center, which housed the renowned Donguri Kyowakoku (Ghibli store) and was conveniently linked to the subway. We indulged in some treats from Mister Donut and took a break at Starbucks. With limited seating for food stands and a scarcity of garbage cans, Starbucks was the best option if you were looking to unwind. After a tiring walk, we opted to treat ourselves to a body massage at "Jin" near Dotonbori street. It turned out to be a great choice, leaving us feeling rejuvenated as the sun had set (During the summer, the heat is intense when walking outdoors.). Following that, we explored the street, indulging in the renowned street food such as Takoyaki Kukuru (known for its long queues, but not as bad for takeout) and the 10-cent cheese pancake nearby. Additionally, there are charming coffee shops (we suggest "Hoshino") along the street where you can enjoy watching boats glide along the river. Our final stop of the way was " Teamlab Botanical Garden " which opens at 7:15 pm. Having read a few reviews, we opted for this one over the Tokyo venue, a decision that may have been regrettable. The display consisted of approximately 6 outdoor sections. It was visually appealing, but the visit felt quite short, especially with the added discomfort of the heat and mosquitoes. Be prepared to walk a lot. It's a long walk from the subway and back (there's no transporation inside the park area). I suggest choosing the teamLab experience in Tokyo instead. Day 2 Because we needed to return to the cruise by 2:45pm, we departed for Nara at 6am. Arriving just as it opened at 7:30am meant that there were very few people there at that time. Opting for the bus to a rear entrance seemed to shorten our walk and brought us near the main Todaiji temple. Please be aware that only cash is accepted for the entrance fee, which amounts to 800 yen for adults. The experience of entering the temple was truly worthwhile. While there were a few deer inside, most of them were outside the temple, and we had several encounters with them on our way back to the bus stop leading to the train station. They didnโ€™t require feeding to approach, but be cautious not to have any loose items as they might follow you and attempt to nibble on them. After Nara, we decided to head to Osaka Castle. We found the walk to be quite challenging due to the heat. As a result, we opted to take a photo nearby instead of going inside. Just across the street, there was a Q mall offering a few food choices and a fantastic coffee shop where we grabbed a quick bite before returning to the port. Make sure to visit for a ride or at least take a photo with the iconic Ferris wheel located just outside the port!
