A colorful looking novel with an 8-bit theme. On the cover is our hero Runt with some fun Minecraft nods everywhere.

I gave these books to my 8 year old son to read since he is into Minecraft. A few days later, when I went back to see how he was doing with them, he told me that he had already read then both and was seeing if we could get more. That should tell you how good these books are.

If your kids have read the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” series, they will be familiar with the format of this book as it is written like a diary from the perspective of Runt.. Asking my son what he enjoys about the books (which he was excited to tell me all) he said he found them funny and also enjoyed the art of the book which helped emphasize and added to the story. The personality of Runt can be felt in the diary style writing because he feels authentic when he writes and breaks the 4th wall when he talks to you, the reader (or the diary). You do not need to know Minecraft to get into these books but you would definitely get more out of the book and enjoy it more if you did.

N/A - No puzzles here. More just puzzling how we haven’t discovered these books earlier.

If you have a child who is a fan of Minecraft and/or Diary of a Wimpy Kid, they would enjoy this book series. They are funny, well written and a fun read for kids. Any book that encourages my kids to read is always a win to me.
