In YouEscape’s first horror game of their series, your team is in for a story filled with twists and turns trying to return to reality as you know it. The team has no-clipped into a new reality; the strange and unusual is the norm. No-clipping is a term used in video games where there is a bug in the system and your character is able to roam around the map without any boundaries. Following this logic, Analog Horror creates the uncanniness of perceived experiences. Will your team make it back to your own reality or learn to accept this new normal.

"#19 Analog Horror" is played with a live host over Zoom and is extremely simple to understand the controls. The game master will lead you through and introduce the team to the story. There is a table littered with items that will be useful to the game that are shown as the game starts. What use are these items to your journey is up to you to find out. All players will have access to a google drive that has files that the game master will let you know when to open. Some files contain pictures while others include websites and clue information. Simply solve the puzzles that are presented to you and discuss out loud as much as you can; for the game master will give hints and help guide you along in your journey of the uncanny. It is highly recommended that you play this game on a computer with easy access to the internet and tabs on your browser. There are aspects during this game that are meant to jump scare, YouEscape warns everyone when they are coming up to make sure this experience is best enjoyed by all players and their own comfort levels.

The puzzles in this game all are related to the theme... uncanny. It is the type of horror that when you look at an object, your mind knows that something isn’t quite right even though you have seen this object hundreds of times before. Each chapter builds upon this concept and there will be solutions relating to perceived reality and unique imagery. The actual solutions of puzzles vary in both difficulty and complexity leading to some rather unique solutions and locations along the way. As most of this game is played over the internet, some websites will exist that players have never seen before but contain powerful tools to solve each puzzle. The logic flow between each enigma was very well thought out and understanding how the answer is derived makes sense for the puzzling enthusiast.

"#19 Analog Horror" is a unique game that uses the internet to its fullest extent in order to properly convey an eerie story that will be enjoyed by all players. Whether it be searching for a face that people around the world have seen, recreating images that seem to come from nothing but a description, or listening into conversations that you can’t seem to remember having, each and every step in the game adds to the world that YouEscape created. Add onto that well timed sound cues and videos to enhance the game and you have an escape room that knows how to properly use its medium.
