As an expert semiologist you know your way around symbols. Your ability to decode languages is unmatched but you’ve now come across what may be your greatest foe contained inside an unfamiliar pyramid. This architectural wonder is covered with strange symbols that are unknown to the world. Will you unravel this mysterious language or will this pyramid’s secrets remain hidden forever?

The structure of this YouEscape follows the same style as the others. You start on a Zoom meeting with your GM where they will provide you with a google drive file and an introduction to the task. There is also a table fixed on the Zoom screen that contains locks and components you will need to open over the course of your journey. This game is a little different in that there are no words after a brief introduction. This game is entirely solved using images, symbols, and numbers that you must find meaning in. Their meaning will translate into a pattern or a series of numbers that will allow you to move further into the pyramid. You will not need anything but what is provided with the Google Drive. Once you solve a box you will be directed to open the next google file needed to move forward. As you reach the end of your game your choices will dictate if you get the good ending or bad ending.

This game largely revolves around discussion amongst your members to solve things. The GM is there to maneuver items at your request or provide hints (up to three) when you ask.

As I mentioned before, the puzzles themselves are entirely without any writing. Rather, you are given symbols with colours and arrows that help guide you. Through the links and photos you move through translating the steps, finding words and numbers, and applying them to the logic puzzles. I found the last puzzle to be my favourite as it unfolded itself quite beautifully without using a single word. I recommend this game for team plays as we found discussion was key for this game because of the lack of words. Through talking aloud about what we see and notice we built a better picture. Overall I really enjoyed the set up and execution of this game. It really captured the essence of puzzling by taking away the exposition we sometimes get in a puzzle to allow players to unpack things for themselves.

"#17: Mutus Liber" is another excellent YouEscape game with its unique focus and excellent collaborative puzzles. This isn’t a game I would recommend for new puzzlers but for a team of regular puzzlers this will do an excellent job to test your chops and let you have fun digging into a puzzle together. Our team used no hints, but we did have to knuckle down on the second task and we loved it.
