- Escape The Room (San Antonio) - "The Agency"
LOCATION: San Antonio, Texas, USA Photo above is property of Escape The Room (San Antonio) 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME : The Agency 📅 DATE PLAYED : August 8, 2019 🎬 GENRE : Spy, Mission 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 8 ppl) : 8.5/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : Up to 10 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins 💰 PRICE : $28/PP ☎️ BOOKING TYPE : Public 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Our next stop in San Antonio, Texas is an old friend of ours... Escape The Room! Escape The Room is one of the oldest franchise companies that originated in NYC and currently has 19 locations all over the US. This location is located in the heart of downtown Riverwalk and very close to the Convention Center. It’s quite difficult to find public parking but there’s plenty of parking lots nearby. The lobby is very spacious with a waiting area. You can easily set up a corporate event in the front. Today, we are agents attempting a secret mission in “The Agency” room. Normally, it’s just the two of us but today we had an interesting mix! We have two newcomers, two enthusiasts and two escape room owners! The room was spacious enough that even with 8 people it didn’t feel crammed. As we entered an office setting, we divided into separate areas in the room and started to divide and conquer. The room doesn’t have too much searching involved but there was a good amount of puzzles. We were happy we weren’t alone this time. The overall flow was quite nice and the game master was on point with the hint system. There was one red herring component which we thought could be changed out as it made the puzzle itself very confusing. One hearing device was also a bit tricky due to the volume being too low and unclear. There were a few design elements of the room that was unique, but some needed a bit more up-keeping. This room would be more difficult to do with just 2 people mainly because of the size and puzzle aspects of it but we did escape with only a few seconds left with 8 people. We have to say from a design and immersive aspect, we still love Escape The Room’s “Jurassic Escape” room the best. We felt that this room fell a bit short from the set design and “wow” moments but overall, we always get a good brain exercise from Escape The Room’s puzzles. We encourage enthusiasts or large groups to give this room a try and let us know what you think! - Escape The Room (Boston) - "The Clock Tower"
LOCATION: Boston, Massachusetts, USA Photo above is property of Escape The Room (Boston) Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME : The Clock Tower 📅 DATE PLAYED : February 9, 2020 🎬 GENRE : Sci-Fi 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 8/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : Up To 10 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE : $28.00/ pp ☎️ BOOKING TYPE : Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes 📖 THE STORY Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock… The adventure began. We were sent on a time travel journey to assist the timekeeper who’s been stuck in a time warp. Can we set everything back to normal? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The set design was beautiful and the theme definitely brought us back to the “Steampunk” era. All the props felt like they were made from real copper and brass. This is probably the second biggest clock we’ve seen in an escape game. It was an impressive centerpiece and it made the entire game feel “lively”. Props to the puzzle designer for being able to come up with so many puzzles surrounding the time theme. There were no repetitive puzzles and they all intertwined perfectly like cogs inside a clock. We really enjoyed using some of the “parts” physically. The “timekeeper” was a great enhancement for the room experience. The finale was well thought out and we understood right away what was to be done to turn everything back to the start. It was great to see a spin off from the normal “lock and key” escape ending. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Some music would've been a great addition to create a sense of “urgency” since time is literally "of the essence" (especially during the end). It would also help with the soundproofing issue (especially during the first part of the game because we were able to hear the outside party the entire time since the front desk is right outside). One prop had a broken part which caused us to not be able to set a puzzle correctly. In the end, it still triggered something to open but we weren't sure if that was manually done or not. There was a reset that had to happen during our game which the game master had to come in to help us. He said this rarely happens, but it was a bit nerve-wracking since it was towards the ending puzzle. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This game was enjoyable from many different perspectives. The set design, props, puzzles were all on par with the storyline with a solid finish. With just the 2 of us, it was quite challenging as there was a lot to do but we were able to warp back in time. Our recommended size would be 4 or more as the room was quite spacious. If you are ever in the area, you should definitely travel back in time in “The Clock Tower”. 🔎 HINT Blank counts as a space as well. ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Street Parking Elevator to 3rd FL Lobby with waiting area & Puzzles Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from " ESCAPETHEROOMers "!) - Escape The Room (DC - Midtown) - "The Submarine"
LOCATION: Washington, DC, USA Photo above is property of Escape The Room (DC) Photo above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME : The Submarine 📅 DATE PLAYED : November 9, 2021 🎬 GENRE : Thriller 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 9/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-8 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE : $27.00 - $42.00/ pp (pending on group size) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE : Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : No 📖 THE STORY You have just been informed that 8 members of your team are trapped at the bottom of the ocean! In order to save them you must board a submarine and descend to the depths of the sea. This rescue mission is extremely dangerous as you've just been briefed that the captain has gone insane and the oxygen supply is running low! And who knows what else is in the deep sea? It's going to take more than just your navigational skills to find your teammates, rescue them, and return to the surface! Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE We love the walkway leading to the submarine. The rusty metal submarine body led us all the way to the entrance. The lighting was perfect for the scenery. Sound was done really well throughout the game to constantly remind us that we're under the ocean. You were even able to see fish swimming around the circular windows. Of course there were more surprises revealed to us as we continued on with the rescue mission. The "urgency" feeling was constantly reminded during the game play. It almost felt like we're completing missions in chapters. The graphics used during one part of the game was done really well. We thought we're actually traversing in the bottom of the ocean. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK This room is extremely difficult for two people. We almost feel like suggesting that it should be a min 3 people type of game. At one point during the game, one person will need to be actually stationed some where as a certain puzzle will need to be attended to the entire time or else the other members won't be able to work on the rest of the room. Perhaps there could be a bypass for that mechanism when there's a small group. There were a couple of challenges that had a lot of repetition. You'll need to do a string of actions in order to receive something. During a 60 minute game, it was pretty difficult to achieve considering this room had a lot of puzzles that needed "divide and conquer" type of collaboration. Some mechanisms did not react right away and we had to waste time waiting for them to react. This also caused game play time. There's too much intuition (like we were suppose to know how a submarine should operate) and hand holding in the game. The GM basically narrated to us what the next step should be and how we should accomplish it. This could be easily fixed by implementing these commands into the game itself as clues rather than having the game master tell it to us. Immersion felt lost through this type of interaction. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Escape The Room has a lot of locations and so far we've played " The Dig ", " The Agency ", " The Clock Tower ", " Cartman's Escape Room ", and " Jurassic Escape ". " The Submarine " was definitely their most difficult game in our opinion. If you like to give this game a try, we recommend going with a large group. If you like mechanics and the feeling of operating a submarine, then this could be your chance to make that dream come true! ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Street parking will be pretty difficult to find. There is a parking lot one block away from the escape room. Metro station is right outside the facility. Take one flight of stairs or elevator down to the lower level. There is a lobby with seating area and it's large event to host a group event. - Escape The Room (DC - Penn Quarter) - "Jurassic Escape"
LOCATION: Washington, DC, USA Photo above is property of Escape The Room (DC) Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME : Jurassic Escape 📅 DATE PLAYED : July 6, 2019 🎬 GENRE : Adventure, Dinosaur 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 8.5/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : Up To 8 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE : $32.00-$34.00/ pp (pending on group size) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE : Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Our first time at Escape The Room was at their NYC location. They were the first escape room to open in the U.S. Currently, they have expanded their franchise to 19 different locations. Today, we arrived really late to catch their last game at the Washington DC location. Since it was a Saturday night, it was easy to find parking right in front of the building with no fees. I would imagine during the weekdays it would be difficult as it’s located on a very busy street. Once we got buzzed in, we headed down to the basement. The lobby area was very cute with puzzles and seats for the guests that waited for their games. Be sure to check out the dinosaur egg that they are hatching! We’ve been dying to try their “Jurassic Escape” room at the NYC location but never had the time and we’re glad that we didn’t because this location’s “Jurassic Escape” room is much larger and definitely added to the immersive experience. Our mission is to stop the evil corporation that is cloning dinosaurs and make sure that the clones don’t take down the Nation’s Capital. As we made it down the hallway, the sound of the dinosaurs startled me and the image of them waiting for their “dinner” keeps popping up in my head. As we entered the room, it’s a scene that I can’t describe. I felt so tiny as we were thrown inside of dinosaur holding cell and held captive. We are now officially actors in the Jurassic Park movie. This is the first escape room that we were able to understand how smell can be incorporated into an immersive set design. If you are curious as to what dinosaur poop smells like, you need to be here! Although it seems like there’s not much to do in the first area, do not linger. Try to solve the puzzles ASAP in order to move on to what lies ahead. There’s a good amount of puzzles to divide and conquer especially if you have just two people like us. The sound system and visual effects is insane in this room! Till this day, we can still hear and see what it felt like when we were inside the room. The puzzles went along with the story line and the props used were very authentic to what you would actually find in that situation. We did get lucky with one or two of the puzzles and that helped us escape the room with seconds left. After the game, we spoke with our gamemaster and learned that they have a bunch of options to change up the puzzles they have in the room so perhaps if you played another time, you might experience a different set of puzzles! Currently, the DC location has three games: “Jurassic Escape”, “The Agency”, and “The Dig”. You can check out our NYC location’s review on “ The Dig ”. We received the exciting news that they have a South Park theme escape room called “Cartman’s Escape room” that’s coming to their location soon. They actually got to work on concepts with the co-creators of South Park - Trey Parker and Matt Stone to make the iconic animation come to live! Given Escape The Room’s continuous top of the line immersive design sets, we can’t wait to give this one a try! When you get upstairs to their location, there's a small waiting room in the front and an even smaller room in the back. But usually there's still a crowd and you will just have to stand. We liked the designs of this room as it resembled a "dig site" quite well. There's not that many locks or puzzles to be solved, so this room is more for it's set design more than anything else. There was a bit of a glitch in one of the tech parts as when we solved the puzzle there was a delay in the opening of the door. We had a group of 6 people and escaped with plenty of time left. I think it was just the right amount of people. It might feel a bit crowded with eight people and there weren't that many puzzles that we had to divide and conquer. We will be back to try their new rooms in the future! Wendy and the lost boys are in need of assistance. The notorious Captain Hook has captured the three children and trapped Pan. Wendy has discovered a way to communicate through a magical mirror from Neverland. She asks for your help and that of your companions to travel to Neverland and locate the treasure map that Captain Hook is after. Prepare to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to Neverland! Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The diverse set designs in this game resembled scenes from a storybook, keeping us captivated throughout the gameplay with their continuous alterations. In the game, there were some instances where the visual cues and props had a "magical" feel, as one would anticipate in a fantasy setting. The animation at the conclusion of the game featuring all the characters from Peter Pan was enjoyable to watch and contributed to the storyline. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Certain puzzles seemed to have been included in the game solely for the sake of being puzzles, lacking any connection to the storyline or the characters. Certain props require improved upkeep. One of them failed to activate correctly, leading us to repeat a puzzle multiple times. Towards the conclusion, there was a puzzle with a perplexing clue. It could potentially be unveiled once a specific puzzle is successfully completed. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Count me in as a huge fan of all things Disney! This particular game cast us as heroes embarking on a quest to locate our lost friends (Peter Pan and his crew) and liberate them from the clutches of the villainous Captain Hook. I thoroughly enjoyed the seamless transitions between different rooms/scenes as we delved deeper into this fantastical realm. While the puzzles may not have been overly challenging for enthusiasts, they were engaging enough to keep us occupied. It truly felt like a nostalgic journey back to childhood, highlighting the magic of escape rooms. Ready to take a break from adulthood for an hour? - Deadlocked Escape Rooms - "The Reading Witch"
LOCATION: Reading, United Kingdom Photo above is property of Deadlocked Escape Rooms Photo above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME : The Reading Witch 📅 DATE PLAYED : June 3, 2025 🎬 GENRE : Horror 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 6/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 4-6 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME : 120 Mins. 💰 PRICE : £160.00 (4 ppl), £180.00 (5 ppl), £200.00 (6 ppl) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE : Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes 📖 THE STORY Join forces with a group of TV detectives and explore the eerie forest rumored to be the home of the enigmatic Reading Witch. Unusual noises and ritualistic chants have been reported in the area, yet no one has ever returned from the cabin. Do you believe you can debunk the myths, or will you become ensnared in the witch's trap? Video above is property of Deadlocked Escape Rooms 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE I love the creativity involved in crafting this storyline. If someone told me I was going to play a horror witch game, I'd probably say "No way" (being the scaredy-cat that I am). But if you tell me I'm just on a TV set trying to debunk a witch rumor? I'm all in! We have a peculiar fascination with any game involving cabins, so when we entered the forest with a creepy cabin, our eyes lit up, eager to find a way in, only to be surprised by yet another twist... The balance between scare moments and puzzle-solving was perfect, giving players a chance to "breathe" and clear their heads when finding solutions. Once that's done, you get to enjoy a short dramatic scene just like in the movies. The props played a unique role in the story, and we really loved the "engagement" required to unlock and reveal certain secrets with them. We played as a duo, so we had to divide and conquer at times. There were moments where the creators intentionally designed different "encounters" for us, allowing us to share different stories with each other after the game. The finale had a big twist that truly brought joy to our faces when we escaped. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK We thoroughly enjoyed this game. The only suggestion we might have is to challenge yourself to create an even longer version...Too soon? 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This game is absolutely a step up compared to all the other Deadlocked Escape Rooms we've experienced! From the incredible set design to the captivating storyline, the inclusion of real-life actors, stunning special effects, and mind-bending puzzles, we were completely immersed! Normally, I'm not a huge fan of horror because I either end up being chased or become too scared to concentrate on solving puzzles. But this game nailed it, offering those suspenseful moments like in a scary movie where you expect something to happen, but nothing does—until the unexpected takes you by surprise. It's an exhilarating adventure, and if you're even a tad curious about the world of witchcraft, it's absolutely worth the trip to Reading, UK, to dive into this fun and thrilling escapade. Plus, who wouldn't want the chance to be famous on a TV show set? You might even bump into an A-list celebrity or two on set... ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Free parking for customers. The escape room is located down one flight of stairs. Small lobby with seating Minor crawling is required Live actor "Sensory friendly" and lower player count available by request. 18+/Parental Advisory The "Reading Witch" was named the best in the UK. LOCATION: Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Photo above is property of The Escape Game Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Legend of the Yeti 📅 DATE PLAYED: February 10, 2026 🎬 GENRE: Sci-Fi 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 6 ppl): 7/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 8 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $49.99/ pp ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY An expedition vanished in the Himalayas searching for a legendary gem. All that remains is a deserted, snow-covered outpost, whispered about fearfully by locals. They warn of the perilous mountain, an ancient guardian of the jewel, and the existence of the Yeti. Now, it's your turn to brave the cold, trace their path, and uncover the truth. Be cautious — the thin air limits time, and not everything on two legs is human. Are you brave enough to unveil the Legend of the Yeti? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The set design transports us to a snowy mountain area featuring a mysterious cabin, immediately captivating our curiosity about its interior. All the props are perfectly aligned with the storyline. Enhancing the lighting with dimmer settings and special effects could further elevate the atmosphere. The game boasts surprising elements that set it apart from a traditional escape room. We thoroughly enjoyed an "encounter" moment that seamlessly fit the storyline and kept us engaged until the game's conclusion. The non-linear setup of the puzzles makes it ideal for multi-player participation. There is always something engaging for everyone to tackle. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK We believe that additional puzzles could be incorporated at the beginning of the game, given the available space. If you've played their "Gold Rush" game before, you might notice some familiarity with the set design. Although the puzzles and props have been updated, we wish they had introduced more twists in the secret passages or reveals used in this game, especially for their fans who will undoubtedly recognize it. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Get ready to dive into one of the most thrilling Himalayan mysteries: The Legend of the Yeti! This captivating tale springs from the rich folklore of the Sherpa and Tibetan cultures. The Yeti captured Western imagination during the daring British expeditions to Mount Everest in the 1920s. Most Yeti escape rooms we've encountered portray him as a fearsome creature, but this one offers a delightful twist, showcasing him as kind and helpful! It's fascinating to see the diverse interpretations of this enigmatic figure and how each creator brings the legend to life. If you're a player who loves a dash of mystery without the chills of horror, you'll adore this charming version of the Yeti legend! ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Located within the Area 15 complex. Escape Room Las Vegas Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Project Zeta: The Human Experiment 📅 DATE PLAYED: February 13, 2026 🎬 GENRE: Sci-Fi 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 8.5/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 3-6 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 90 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $35.00 - $45.00/ pp ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY You planned a quick getaway to Vegas to enjoy the Strip, a buffet, and maybe win some money. Unexpectedly, you hit a jackpot, and in a burst of light, your plans change. Instead of watching a show, you become the star of Project Zeta. You awaken in an alien place with unfamiliar technology and illuminated consoles, clearly meant to challenge you. This is your chance to show what a human can do. It's time to prove your worth in The Human Experiment. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The set design was incredibly immersive. As soon as we entered, we felt as if we had been transported onto an alien ship. The abundance of lights, buttons, and screens convinced us we were journeying through a distant galaxy. The in-game character was really entertaining, providing assistance and adding both mystery and an unexpected twist at the end. A particular part of the game caught us completely off guard, and we thoroughly enjoyed the "transportation" experience. The puzzles required both storyline-based thinking and pure logic, but we especially enjoyed those that engaged our senses. The space utilization within the room was excellent, making us feel like we had numerous areas to explore, and we truly lost track of our real-world surroundings. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Certain parts of the game involved reading of supplemental story elements and clues, which might make it challenging for players to discern their next steps. We recommend that verbal or visual clues remain on screen or repeat until the task is completed, as they can be easily missed, particularly in larger groups. Some language was unclear in one of the later tests, and we felt that there were too many questions for this stage. The finale could have been more impactful, as other special effects throughout the game were more impressive. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Disclaimer: We beta-tested this game before its public release, so some issues mentioned in our review may have already been addressed by the creator, and your experience might differ from ours. We've been eagerly anticipating the release of this game for so long, and the excitement of finally experiencing it, even as play testers before the public launch! If you're a fan of sci-fi, especially anything related to aliens, you must check out the set design. It's incredibly impressive, not just because of the space but also due to the hidden secrets within. The hallway puzzles are the closest to an escape room experience, with clever clues and challenges, while the rest felt like engaging tasks and tests, perhaps even reminiscent of video games. Everything perfectly aligns with the storyline and theme. We can't wait for everyone to dive in and share their experiences inside Project Zeta! ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Free parking lot right in front of the location. Lobby with waiting area and puzzles. LOCATION: Stompetoren, Netherlands Photo above is property of The Brotherhood Photo above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME : The Brotherhood 📅 DATE PLAYED : November 10, 2024 🎬 GENRE : Thriller 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 7/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-4 ppl (Ages 16+) 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME : 90 Mins. 💰 PRICE : €179/ Group ☎️ BOOKING TYPE : Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes 📖 THE STORY We live in a world plagued with unhappiness, dissatisfaction, craving, and emptiness. The brothers and sisters of The Happiness Project have developed a training process to help recruits shed these negative feelings and replace them with joyful fulfillment. While their methods are unorthodox, everyone who eventually leaves reports being changed by the experience. Will you be able to withstand the initiation challenges and rituals in order to emerge renewed, ready to set the world aflame as a soul reborn? 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The environment is by turns intense and heavy. The atmosphere is curated to provide not just sights and sounds that transport you but also stimulate all of your senses. The construction is from metal and stone, adding gritty realism to the weight of the adventure itself. It is a large space with many dark areas and dim lighting, but we were able to see everything we needed, as well as make our way around without fumbling. The experience moves smoothly between generating an ominous sense of dread and providing some time and space to process the experience and work on the puzzles. Some of the puzzles are more challenging than many found in the more experiential horror/thriller rooms of the Netherlands, and require you to draw upon multiple sources of information and work effectively as a team, which we very much appreciated! The story develops as you move through the many stages of the initiation, and provides an interactive, satisfying conclusion in which you are a full participant, rather than observer. No ending video wrap-up for this room! You make it happen. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK The atmospheric nature of the hint system, coupled with the acoustics of the space, made a couple of hints a bit hard to understand the first time given, but that was never an obstacle to finishing some of the trickier puzzles. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? As long as you speak decent English and are OK with crawling, getting a bit dirty, and toying around with some heavy religious themes, the answer is a resounding yes! We emerged with a fresh coating of gratitude, as well as an appreciation for the amount of work put into building this experience in an otherwise empty space. It has a solid set of puzzles, an appropriately oppressive feel, and a thoroughly developed story arc. Another excellent room in the Netherlands' collection of thriller experiences (and one that non-horror-lovers like Krista can still enjoy)! 🔎 HINT Don’t be afraid to look towards the action! ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO The Happiness Experience (which is run by The Brotherhood) is located in an industrial park of sorts, that belies the zen nature of the welcoming. While there is no exterior signage, the number of the building is clearly marked. When the time is right, you can let yourself into the quiet, peaceful entry, and then store your things in a lovely rattan box before using the restroom. The warmth and ambience resembles that of a waiting room at a spa, and gave us the feeling that we were about to get a relaxing massage, or perhaps do some calming yoga. The tastefully sparse decor allowed our minds to settle and our thoughts to merge with the universe. - ROOM Escape Room - "The Archaeologist"
LOCATION: St. Gallen, Switzerland Photo above is property of ROOM Escape Room Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: The Archaeologist 📅 DATE PLAYED: January 17, 2026 🎬 GENRE: Adventure 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 7/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-6 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: 119 CHF - 199 CHF ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes [41:00] 📖 THE STORY You are archaeologists on a daring expedition into a Central American mine rumored to hide the entrance to a long-lost Aztec temple. After years of searching, your team finally uncovers the abandoned mine shaft believed to lead to the buried treasure. But the deeper you venture, the more you realize time is against you. The shaft’s oxygen supply will only last one hour, and if that wasn’t enough, word of your discovery has leaked, local authorities are on their way, intending to shut your operation down. 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Strong Sense of Progression & Momentum The adventure unfolds like a true expedition. Each puzzle solved opens the path forward, triggering new environmental reveals and keeping the pacing consistently engaging. The story moves hand-in-hand with the gameplay through a combination of audio clips, letters, and staged transitions that maintain narrative drive throughout. A Fully Realized Adventure Setting This room is far larger and more elaborate than expected. The journey transitions seamlessly from the surface down into the mine and ultimately into the temple itself. The set is beautifully constructed with: richly themed props, multiple environmental layers, special effects, and cleverly designed transitions (the elevator sequence, in particular, is a standout moment that truly sells the descent into the depths). Small details; loose stones underfoot, scattered foliage, atmospheric lighting further elevate immersion and give the space a genuine archaeological- expedition feel. Logical, Enjoyable Puzzles for All Skill Levels Though marketed as an adventure room with intermediate difficulty, we found the puzzles to be approachable and intuitive. They blend physical components (props, mechanisms) with observational tasks, and most solutions rely on deduction rather than obscure leaps in logic. For example, tasks had us repairing critical infrastructure before we could use the lift, working out how to use the dynamite found in the mine, and then solving ancient Aztec puzzles in order to unlock the treasure. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Confused puzzle layout in the endgame The final section includes a notice board that essentially outlines how to solve each puzzle. While helpful for beginners, it felt overly hand-holding for an experienced team. It also clashes slightly with the narrative premise—if no one has ever entered the temple before, why would such a guide be waiting inside? 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This is an idea room for smaller experienced teams of two or three, or larger beginner groups. An impressive set design coupled with simple yet thematic tasks is likely to offer an enjoyable experience for teams both young and old. ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO The lobby features a full bar, snacks, ample seating, and lockers. There’s also a lounge area with free-to-use computer games, perfect for passing time before or unwinding afterward. Not wheelchair accessible. - The Escape Ventures - "Phantom Files: The Investigation of Lockturne Manor"
LOCATION: Port Charlotte, Florida, USA Photo above is property of The Escape Ventures Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Phantom Files: The Investigation of Lockturne Manor 📅 DATE PLAYED: January 16, 2026 🎬 GENRE: Sci-Fi, Paranormal 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 6/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-6 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 90 Mins. 💰 PRICE: Starting at $53.99/ pp ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY As newly recruited members of the Spirit Stalkers, you’re feeling ready to prove yourselves by tackling a real haunting. Lockturne Manor, a spooky old house with a big reputation, is your first assignment. Suited up in your official jumpsuit and amped up with an aggressively catchy theme song, you’re sent inside to gather evidence, wrangle restless spirits, and show that you’ve got what it takes to join the paranormal pros. Who you gonna call? Apparently…you. 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Haunted house immersion: The environment nails the spooky manor vibe, with strong set construction supported by effective sound and lighting. There may have been the occasional arm-clutching and “oh…you can go first…”. Spooky yet ridiculous: TEV’s signature tongue-in-cheek humor shines here, balancing mild jump scares with playful moments, actor interactions, and that ridiculous theme song that gets you hyped before you even cross the threshold. Ghost-hunting gadgets: We loved getting to use a variety of paranormal tools that made us feel like active Spirit Stalkers, not just puzzle solvers in a spooky room. The tech is smoothly integrated and absolutely scratches that Ghostbusters itch. A finale worth busting ghosts for: Everything builds toward a fun, high-energy climax that ties story, puzzles, and gadgets together in a really satisfying way. We totally rocked our first day on the job! 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Minor poltergeist activity: We ran into a few moments where wear-and-tear showed and a little maintenance was needed to keep the puzzles and flow moving as intended. However, these were isolated incidents in an otherwise polished experience. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? "Phantom Files" feels like a delightful mashup of Ghostbusters and Scooby-Doo, with just a hint of Paranormal Activity. It’s totally goofy in parts and more spooky than scary. While we’d consider it family-friendly overall, the occasional jump scare still packs enough punch to earn some genuine screams (the group before us proved that). The set design draws you right in, the mix of traditional locks and fabulous tech delivers the experience, and the 90-minute runtime makes it perfect for those who want to really settle into a longer investigation. If you’ve ever dreamed of channeling your inner Egon, strapping on a jumpsuit, and busting some ghosts, this is absolutely your call to action. ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO This location has free parking outside. You have use of lockers, bathroom, and a small seating area. Note: This game is only partially wheelchair accessible. - Escape Legends - "Dragon Treasure"
LOCATION: Sherwood Park, AB, Canada Photo above is property of Escape Legends Photo above is property of Escape Legends 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME : Dragon Treasure 📅 DATE PLAYED : March 30, 2024 🎬 GENRE : Fantasy 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 6 Players) : 5/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-8 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME : 50 Mins. 💰 PRICE : CAD $28/pp (Adult - 18+), CAD $17/pp (Youth - Under 18) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE : Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes 📖 THE STORY Heading into the grand Citadel, you’ve heard of a legend where a powerful dragon is guarding an enormous treasure hidden inside these walls. Your quest is to locate the entrance to those catacombs and brew a sleeping potion to put the dragon to sleep so you can grab the treasure. 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The room had some carefully crafted props with a lot of attention to detail. Some of our favorites included the magical staff, the leather journal and scrolls, the iron padlock as well as some of the references hidden in the solutions. The set design of the room was impressive. The stone walls and feel of the overall room made for a fantastic atmosphere. There was a wide range of puzzles, varying in type and difficulty. This worked well with the non-linear beginning that allowed us all, including the kids, to be working on different puzzles simultaneously. We appreciated the GM keeping a close watch on our time and progress and offered some nudges to ensure we would be able to see the ending. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK One minor issue that we did encounter was that there was a cipher where the runes used on the puzzle didn’t exactly match the key provided which resulted in some confusion. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? " Dragon Treasure " was an excellent family friendly game. Escape Legends is passionate about escape rooms, and it displays through their room design. The set of the room had an immersive feel from the stone walls to the leather scrolls. The puzzles were creative and had a mix of challenges. We played with 4 adults and 2 kids which worked well for the non-linear beginning to allow everyone to be busy at the start but there were a few times, we found too many people were in each other’s way. We found 4 people would have been just right. Any Lord of the Rings fan or Dragon Hunters out there should try out this room. ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Free parking Lobby area with seating available Drinks & Snacks available for purchase (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from " ESCAPETHEROOMers "!) #MatthewLui #IRLescaperoom #EscapeRooms #Canada #Fantasy #EscapeLegends #Alberta

Cooper has gone cold. The FBI has one final chance to find the lost money, an apartment they believe belongs to Cooper. Sending in their best detectives, you and your group are tasked to investigate the apartment and see if you can find the stolen money. 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The room was a combination of tech and non-tech, which worked with some clever props and puzzles. The set design had the right amount of detail. There was not too much to distract us with red herrings but enough that we felt immersed. For any fans of D.B Cooper and the story behind him, there are a lot of easter eggs hidden in the room and puzzles. Though all the puzzles were solid, there was one puzzle that stood out to us with a great eureka moment and was quite satisfying when solved. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK This was a solid room overall with no major misses 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? " DB Cooper " was a well-designed room. The owners are very passionate about escape rooms and you can tell through the conversation with them and the little details in the room. The puzzles left us all satisfied as we solved them without any of them feeling like they overstayed their welcome. The room design had the right amount of immersion as well. This would be a great room for beginners and anyone who is a fan of the D.B. Cooper case. We played with 3 people and felt there could be room for a few more.
