Legend says that in the year 381, St. Theodulus, the first Bishop of Sion, returned from Rome carrying two precious gifts: the vine shoots that would one day shape Valais, and a sacred bell from the Pope. What no one saw was the Devil himself, tricked into hauling the heavy bell for the Saint.
