📖 THE STORY

It was supposed to be a fun day where you and your crew board the U.S.S. Discovery to give it a routine check up before sending this 23rd century state of the art Star-fleet for an upgrade to the modern 32nd century standards. Suddenly, the bridge has informed you that the ship has just collided with a quantum filament causing major damage to many places. Will you be able to repair the ship in time and save all the crew members?

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

  • This was one of our favorite set designs from ESCAPOLOGY so far. As we entered the room, it literally felt like we were on a spaceship. There were manuals and screens on the walls, many types of buttons and doors that would open up to other chambers. The sound effects and lighting made the emergency protocol felt even more real. If a little hydraulics could've been added underneath the floor to mimic the turbulence, it would have been perfect.

  • There's a lot of puzzles that were designed to incorporate teamwork. Even with a group of 4, we really needed to work together. Although some puzzles could be solved simultaneously, most would require at least a pair to pass information to each other. Since we were a team of engineers, it made sense that we were supposed to work together.

  • The props were pretty futuristic. Items that we had to connect together looked like they belong on a spaceship and the input devices were also all high tech.

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

  • There was an interesting puzzle that gave us a limited time to solve. We didn't end up completing it in time, but I wondered if we did. Would it have been a bonus mission? If any of our readers did, please email us and let us know what happens! Somehow the game just automatically bypassed that puzzle once the time was over so we didn't actually get to solve it.

  • The writing board we received wasn't working properly since it wouldn't erase what I've already written. This device is quite important in this room as there was some math and logic puzzles that definitely needed to be written down. So make sure you got a working one.

  • We found one of the puzzles confusing as the marker for where we had to measure wasn't exact. Also the prop that we had to use was missing a few pieces so we weren't sure if it was even working properly (we ended up holding it up with our hands and it worked).

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

The initial space was quite small and we really think 4 people is the optimum number for this room. We definitely appreciated that the game master had informed us that a "certain input device" will be used multiple times as this is also quite rare in an escape room design. But since we're on a spaceship and the device could be seen as "the motherboard", it made sense. Observation was key in this game as screens and props were constantly changing. We do think this is definitely a step-up for ESCAPOLOGY's games as normally their routine is to enter a code and escape out of the door. But this time the code actually had a purpose and storyline. We felt that we repaired the spaceship and brought ourselves and the crew members to safety. This game is definitely on the harder side, so pick your strongest crew members and head on over to the U.S.S. Discovery now!
