📖 THE STORY
Unjustly sentenced to life in Blackgate Penitentiary, your only chance for freedom is the 60-minute guard shift change. Use makeshift tools, navigate cell blocks, and avoid detection to escape before the guards return.

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE
The puzzles incorporated several hidden elements that evoked the ingenuity one might expect from a prisoner attempting to escape.
There were instances where collaboration was necessary, requiring us to use items from our respective cells to devise a solution. We particularly enjoyed the segments where we could create physical tools to aid in our escape, similar to a real-life scenario.
🧩 MISSED THE MARK
The set design was perplexing, as one of the jail cells included an exit door, which detracted from the realism of the jail cell for the players.
The Game Master was not fully attentive to our game. We had the correct code for a puzzle, but the lock did not open on our initial attempt. Since he did not provide any feedback, the box remained unopened until we requested a clue. At that point, he confirmed the code was correct and asked us to try again.
There was one thing that ordinarily we would not do in an escape room as we are very careful with the props in the rooms and in this case I feel like it should have been mentioned before the game that we are allowed to do that.
For some reason I was able to get out of the escape room before Brandon was able to escape from his cell. So the entire game ended with him still being in the cell which made the game play out of order. This could should be avoided as it was quite confusing for the players.
🏹 TAKE A SHOT?
This game is great for beginners looking to explore the world of escape rooms. Throughout the game, you will discover clues that need to be pieced together, and you will also gain an understanding of effective teamwork. As enthusiasts, we found certain aspects of the game rules confusing, as they differed from what we typically follow, and the lack of prior warning made it challenging for us to adapt. I even faced a moral dilemma at the end, questioning whether to leave Brandon behind and escape on my own. Some of these issues could be mitigated if the Game Master provided clearer explanations at the start and paid closer attention to the players. There are numerous themed escape rooms at this location, so perhaps we chose an easier one? If you have played others, we would appreciate hearing your experiences!
