📖 THE STORY

You've finally decided to go with your group to end Dracula's reign of terror once and for all. All you have to do is venture into his crypt and drive a stake through his heart. I hope you chose the right teammates because some just might bite back...

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

  • What a cool concept! We've actually never played an escape room like this. We each had to choose a character card. These character cards could have negative or positive powers (it so happened I chose a positive one and Brandon chose a negative one). These cards are picked at random by yourselves. The cards have different types of powers in the room. For instance, a positive card might give you more light, more time and free hints whereas a negative one might do the opposite. When you solve a puzzle, you can choose which card you want to activate. Activating a negative card will cure your teammate and take away the negative effect. Activating a positive card will gain you that extra help that you need. You can only activate cards whenever you finish solving a puzzle.

  • I can't believe this room is automated as well with all of these added elements. The lights, time and other special effects could be altered as the game is played so every experience will be unique to your group.

  • This company is amazing at set design. Out of the three 30 minute games, this set design was my favorite. There's a part in the game (I don't want to spoil it for you) where the creator utilized every space they can think of in order to create an added visual to enhance the crypt feel.

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

  • One of the special effects is for you to be able to skip a puzzle so with luck and more people in the group, you might be able to skip a lot of puzzles. So to avoid this issue, they are adding more. During the time we played, they were installing a new puzzle but it wasn't complete yet which confused our game play.

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

Staked! A vampire Tale is their newest room. This is also our favorite room out of the three. From set design to puzzle variations to player's involvement to special effects, it had it all. And they did it in 30 minutes too! I would have loved to play an entire hour though. It definitely has potential to expand into a bigger space and storyline. For us, we love the concept of assigning a role to the players. It gives the players opportunities to role play while solving puzzles which adds more immersion to the experience. I hope we see more developments like this from Time Emporium Escape Rooms!
