📖 THE STORY

A time medallion has been located near the series of murders that has been happening lately in the dark alleyways of London. Could they be related? Maybe you can find the evidence that the police may have missed!

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

  • Wow to the set design! We started out our investigation under the starry lights of a dimly lit alleyway. Right in front of us is the iconic red phonebooth. As we walked down the alleyway, we could feel the eeriness like someone's been following us.

  • Certain narratives were build into the game that didn't use live actors but achieved the same effect.

  • There was an unanticipated way of "entering" that made us connect more to our character in the story.

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

  • Usually when the GM tells us the intro story we would listen for the basic ideas but there were actually information that we needed this time for a puzzle. I would suggest having an intro letter in the room as well if that's the case just in case they didn't understand the GM clearly or pay attention to all the details.

  • Hints by the GM were too vague (we found a key and they said "if you found it, you can use it." But later we found out this key was just a prop amongst others that we found and we did not actually have to be used with a lock) and didn't really help us when we requested for further explanation. Also we were unsure if the GM was paying attention to us as we had to repeat ourselves and they didn't seem to know where we were stuck.

  • We were going in as investigators. It would be helpful if a notepad could be provided. There were information that we had to sort out and I didn't think "memory" was the goal of the puzzle challenge. The GM yelled at us when we tried to take notes on the phone but they didn't specify that this was not allowed at the beginning.

  • One of the depictions of a location was a bit off in our opinion.

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

Murder mystery has always been one of my favorite genres. This room's décor definitely set the tone right from the start. In terms of puzzles, it's mostly linear with all tech. Unfortunately we didn't have the best experience with the game master. We always say a GM can make or break a game and this is definitely one of those incidences. So we're unsure how fair we can be with this review as you might have a different experience than us. We do see the potential in this room after tweaking some of the "miss the mark" items. After playing the three games at their Loveland location, I can safely say that Time Emporium Escape Rooms is definitely doing something right. There's a lot of innovative ideas that they are incorporating into the escape room genre and we can't wait to see what they come up with next!
