  • Puzzle Theory - "Kraken's Revenge At Kelpstone Edge Narrows"

LOCATION: Middletown, Connecticut, USA Photo above is property of Puzzle Theory Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Kraken's Revenge at Kelpstone Edge Narrows 📅 DATE PLAYED: October 14, 2025 🎬 GENRE: Adventure 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 6.5/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 3-8 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $29.00/pp (depending on group size) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY Picture this: you step onto a pier near Monterey Bay, excitement bubbling in your chest. You enter the home of Captain Magnus, a legend known for his daring voyages into uncharted waters and encounters with mythical sea creatures. Some folks doubted his tales, but others believed he hid a treasure linked to these creatures. This treasure, rumored to be more than just gold and jewels, might reveal the truth behind his stories and help you escape the rising tides. How cool is that? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE One reason we adore pirate-themed rooms is the immersive set design. It makes you feel like you're aboard an old wooden ship! This escape from reality is what draws us to play escape rooms. And let me tell you, this particular room had some unexpected surprises that you wouldn’t typically find on a standard pirate ship. We faced a thrilling situation that required us to make a "choice" alongside our teammates. Only one or a select few would experience something distinct from the rest. Choose wisely, my friends! While the entrances to the next stages in the game were somewhat predictable, we really appreciated the game set designer's effort. Each entrance was unique and more than just a typical door. It added a special touch! The final puzzle? Oh boy, it was the most challenging one in the game! No amount of preparation could have helped us without all the necessary information. Conquering it was thrilling, and the urgency towards the end? Exhilarating! 🧩 MISSED THE MARK The written clues on the props could use a little sprucing up. A different finish would align them better with the high standard of the rest of the room's set design. From my seasoned player's perspective, some puzzles felt overly straightforward. They lacked logical connections beyond observation and trial with specific locks. However, I can see how beginner players might find this approach quite logical. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT Get ready for an innovative storyline where you're not just playing in an escape room—you’re diving into a story that unfolds within an escape room! We encountered thrilling surprises throughout the game, leading to a truly "unexpected" ending that blew us away with its visual effects. The puzzles struck the perfect balance of challenge, making it ideal for both kids and adults. Wondering if we actually came face-to-face with a Kraken? It's time for YOU to embark on this exciting journey and set sail with Captain Magnus! • Puzzle Theory - "Jungle 2: The Next Dimension"

LOCATION: South Windsor, Connecticut, USA Photo above is property of Puzzle Theory 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Jungle 2: The Next Dimension 📅 DATE PLAYED: December 16, 2023 🎬 GENRE: Adventure 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 6.5/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 4-8 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $160-$248 (depending on group size ranging from 4-8 ppl) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY In the previous chapter (Jungle 1), Dr. X unearthed a mysterious artifact and opened up an alternate dimension. Unfortunately, the dimension disappeared along with his trusted assistant. Now the Jungle Dimension has reemerged! Will Dr. X find out the truth about his assistant this time? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The puzzles in this room are completely built in-house by Puzzle Theory. We were impressed by the smoothness of the tech and props used throughout the game. I remember there were a few delays and glitches from version 1 that are no longer present in this game. The focus of the game is obviously on the game box in the center of the room. The creator had a great vision of how to use the ambiance lighting to emphasize what the players should be focused on as the game progressed. This game will allow the GM to adjust the difficulty of the room based on the group's progression. Some puzzles can be made simpler for less experienced groups and vice versa. We thought that some puzzles could have loopholes where the answers could be guessed correctly by a player and therefore the game sequence could be messed up but the owner showed us afterward how these situations can be prevented by his smart tech in the backend. We were impressed with this system. There's a lot to do in this game and we were glad there's a progression tracker in the center of the game box. This allowed us to manage our time better. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK One of the beginning puzzles could be clued better with a "story" versus just given to the players. We felt that one of the puzzle sequences could be too long (this could be challenging, especially with a group with too many people). 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? You might realize a few familiar props from this room from Jungle Dimension one but all the puzzles are completely different. The beginning and ending of the room also had a little Easter Egg surprise for players who have played their first version. This room had a good mixture of easy puzzles for beginners to figure out and physical puzzles that could take a bit of time even for seasoned players. The lighting, animal sounds, and even your "assistant" during the game will all work seamlessly together to provide you the jungle adventure of your life time. Ready to embark on this journey? • Puzzle Theory - "P.T. Railways: Spectral Rift"

LOCATION: South Windsor, Connecticut, USA Photo above is property of Puzzle Theory 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: P.T. Railways: Spectral Rift 📅 DATE PLAYED: May 29, 2021 🎬 GENRE: Sci-Fi, Supernatural 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 7 ppl): 6/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 4-10 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $30.00/ pp (Min. of 4 ppl) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY You've booked tickets for a 1-hour train ride aboard P.T. Railways. Prior to boarding the train, you receive a mysterious letter. Immediately after boarding the train, you realized that this isn't a typical journey. There appears to be some kind of spiritual awakening aboard this train and you must figure out a way to stop it before it's too late! Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Puzzle theory cleverly transformed the original floor plan of a narrow hallway and multiple rooms into a train station. The soda machine, handmade wooden train benches and various boxcars really raise the experience to another level. The accent lighting and sound effects also added to the immersion. The introduction of the game master as a train conductor, checking us in with a train ticket and closing our train doors for the upcoming journey was like preparing us for a Disney ride. We love the storytelling aspect of the beginning of this escape room. The storyline for "Spectral Rift" was creatively orchestrated to provide not just a paranormal experience, but onboard a moving train that has been possessed. Almost like the scene in "Speed" but with a supernatural twist to it that definitely gave us an adrenaline rush. The non-linear aspect of the puzzle design allowed our team to work on various puzzles separately but still bought us together as a team with a conclusive ending. The cooperatively on challenges really enhanced the sense of urgency. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Since this game is replayable as a completely different storyline and puzzle set, some tags and moveable pieces did confuse us in terms of if they were part of this game or not. 🔎 HINT Listen carefully to the spirits... 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This is our 3rd time visiting Puzzle Theory. So far we've played "The Dimension Gate", "The Wizard Realm", "The Jungle Dimension", and "Warehouse 13". P.T. Railways's set design was designed to be replay-able for two separate escape games - "Spectral Rift" and "Rebel Run". It utilizes two different storylines in the same space. We highly recommend trying both games, but in terms of level of difficult, "Rebel Run" is more for beginners with more physical puzzles and "Spectral Rift" has more puzzles and could be a bit more challenging because of that. My personal favorite was definitely "Spectral Rift" but I'm a bit bias towards the paranormal theme as well. ** Puzzle Theory recently opened their new axe-throwing company - "Stumpy's Hatchet House" in Manchester, Connecticut (10 min drive away). You can definitely plan an entire day with friends at their locations with the entertainment options that they currently offer. LOCATION: South Windsor, Connecticut, USA Photo above is property of Puzzle Theory 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: P.T. Railways: Rebel Run 📅 DATE PLAYED: May 29, 2021 🎬 GENRE: Heist 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 6 ppl): 5/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 4-10 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $30.00/ pp (Min. of 4 ppl) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY You've been recruited to hijack the most technologically advanced train designed by P.T. Railways. You have one hour to get into the train conductor booth and takeover the train. Maybe your tablet and an advanced AI will help you? Good luck!! The storyline for "Rebel Run" was more mission-based and had a clear objective. Half of the challenge was to get onto the train and the other half was to figure out a way to hijack it. We love the added twist to the ending. "Rebel Run" also has a good amount of physical puzzles to challenge the players. Because we needed to gain access to the controls and get on the train, there were various obstacles along the way that required certain skillsets. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Since there's a large space for the group to explore and a lot of the puzzles were non-linear, we found that we only got to experience and visualize parts of the game. Many times we wouldn't know what happened in another area or what triggered what. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This is our 3rd time visiting Puzzle Theory. • Puzzle Theory - "Warehouse 13"

LOCATION: South Windsor, Connecticut, USA Photo above is property of Puzzle Theory 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Warehouse 13 📅 DATE PLAYED: February 2, 2020 🎬 GENRE: Thriller, Sci-Fi 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 6/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 4-10 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $27.50/ pp ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Public/ Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY We were about to infiltrate Dr. McCurdy’s “workshop”, Warehouse 13. Town people have been describing him as an antisocial and strange man. Rumor has it he’s been doing human experiments in this warehouse and leaving mysterious markings on the bodies before disposing them. We needed to find evidence before he returns to the warehouse so we can stop his evil doings! Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE We really enjoyed how the game began. Being sent on a mission and not knowing what to expect added the anticipation and we were eager to venture on. The music, special effects, and quality of the props all intertwined seamlessly with the storyline. We really enjoyed a few of the “jump scare” moments. The dramatic entrances along with the fog and sound of the door release felt like we were entering a Disney attraction. One unique puzzle “wowed” us as it looked so real and we weren’t sure if we’re supposed to actually do it. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK The puzzle designs felt a little bit repetitive. It seemed to revolve around a similar theme. Some added logic puzzles would be great especially if this could be altered for a more difficult level upon request for enthusiasts. There was an area during the middle of the game with beautiful set design which felt a bit wasted with only a few simple puzzles and they didn’t really get to utilize the entire set. This game felt eerie at the beginning and we expected a progression with a “darker” finish at the end. The lighting felt too bright later on and took away some of the spooky feel. The space and set design had a lot of potential to create a “wow” ending (perhaps with a “jump scare”) effect. It would have been great to have seen one of the props be put to use for this. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This room’s set design quality was a huge step up for Puzzle Theory. The room was very spacious and would be great for a large group to explore. As enthusiasts, the puzzles were a bit too repetitive and on the easier side. Puzzle Theory does offer levels of difficulty with their other rooms so it would be great to see if they can do the same for this one. They are also working on another concept which could potentially make a game that would be able to be replayed. We can’t wait to see what they come up with! A unique concept with Puzzle Theory which continuously gets you intrigued on playing all of their rooms is that they build their storyline around one core character... Dr. X. We hope they will continue his adventure! 🔎 HINT One at a time. • Puzzle Theory - "The Jungle Dimension"

LOCATION: South Windsor, Connecticut, USA Photo above is property of Puzzle Theory Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: The Jungle Dimension 📅 DATE PLAYED: August 31, 2019 🎬 GENRE: Adventure 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 7/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 6 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $27.50/ pp ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Read our review on “The Dimension Gate” and "The Wizard Realm" to learn more about Puzzle Theory’s location. As we approached our last dimension at Puzzle Theory, we truly enjoyed the feeling of being “transported”. Each room was so uniquely designed not with just themes but the puzzles as well. This time we were looking for a rogue engineer in a jungle, hence “The Jungle Dimension”. The room was dimly lit but you would have lanterns to assist you. Our recommended player size is 3-4 since there will be a puzzle later on that would be much easier if we had an extra hand (by the way, there would be a choice to bypass this as well, but you must really give it a try first). The room was very “colorful” and most jungle props were represented by paintings to resemble the lush greens and animals. Each time you completed a puzzle, you’ll be awarded with a victory sound. It felt like a jungle “party”! We also felt a little “Jumanji” inspiration with some of the puzzle pieces. The latter part felt a little out of context in terms of the room design as we’re not sure what we’ve just entered as it just felt like a room with more puzzles. If it could be designed to correlate with the storyline more (perhaps the hiding spot of the rogue agent but somehow resemble that in the room design), it would create a more “wow” moment for the players. Overall, this was another unforgettable realm in Dr. X’s world. Puzzle Theory is currently working on their largest horror themed room called “Warehouse 13”. We are so excited to go and test out the final product when it’s ready as we heard that this time it’ll be a different Dr’s realm and it’ll have a completely different take! NOTE: This room has some similarities with "The Jungle" at Amazing Escape Room Freehold. There were a few new puzzles we haven't seen here but majority were quite similar. You might want to take note prior to booking. LOCATION: South Windsor, Connecticut, USA Photo above is property of Puzzle Theory Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: The Wizard Realm 📅 DATE PLAYED: August 31, 2019 🎬 GENRE: Fantasy 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 8/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 8 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $27.50/ pp ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Read our review on “The Dimension Gate” to learn more about Puzzle Theory’s location. “The Wizard Realm” was the next room we were being taken into. We recommend 3-4 people as an ideal size for this room. Just from the name alone, I knew I was going to really enjoy this room as I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and this room did not disappoint. Prior to entering the room, you’ll receive your own specialized wizarding school of magic acceptance letter. We were being sent in to infiltrate the school and find out what was happening with the strange readings we’ve been receiving. The props and set design seemed very “magical” and along with the music it really made us feel like we were on a movie set at a Harry Potter production. I particularly enjoyed the plant-like creature which you’re be allowed to take photos with after the game. We went through the first part of the room fairly quickly as the game flow and puzzles were very straight forward. When we got to the latter part, there was one particular puzzle that took us 20 or so minutes to figure out. It was frustrating in the sense that there was no clues that could help you with solving it so you would either have to just keep trying or the game master will have to bypass it for you. We eventually made it work but hearing from the owner later on, most teams don’t really have an issue with it and we probably just messed up the starting sequence. Oops...! Not sure if there could be a solution to where a clue could assist with the team solving this or not as bypassing it would be kind of sad for teams that would like to feel like they’ve solved it on their own. After that hurdle, everything was smooth sailing till the end. This was probably our favorite room here! But wait, there’s still one more! There was plenty of parking outside their facility. As you entered the lobby, there was a cozy waiting area. The victory photo wall was decorated with their “Big Bang Theory” inspired logo and local artist work. All of their games are privately booked. Each game was unique in their own way but all revolved around Dr. X. They have actually retired two rooms already that was the origination point of Dr. X but you do not need to know prior knowledge or have to play these rooms in order. The first room seemed to be the smallest in terms of size out of all the rooms we’ve tried and it’s called “The Dimension Gate”. Our recommendation is 2 people if you’ve played escape rooms before. Prior to starting the game, we were asked to fill a survey of questions which we later found out they actually became part of a puzzle in the room which was a nice personal touch. The room itself will let you pick the difficulty level pending on if you choose to use certain hints or not. There was one particular puzzle that we got stuck on which took several levels of “connecting the dots” to solve. In this room, we were supposed to go and find out what was happening to the people that were being sent into this Dimensional Gate that Dr. X invented. The entire room felt futuristic and heavy with mechanical equipment. There were no physical lock types in here which made sense with the theme of the room. The only thing we felt maybe could be a bit clearer is the way the “assistant” told the story as we still were not sure what had happened to us at the end. Perhaps a more “wow” moment could be added for the ending. We still really enjoyed this room from a set design aspect and puzzles as some are quite unique and we haven’t encountered them before. But no time to waste, on to the next realm! • Escape Room 60 (South Burlington) - "Green Mountain Ghost Hunt"

LOCATION: South Burlington, Vermont, USA Photo above is property of Escape Room 60 Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Green Mountain Ghost Hunt 📅 DATE PLAYED: May 4th, 2025 🎬 GENRE: Paranormal 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 4 ppl): 6/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-12 ppl (Recommend 2-6 ppl; Ages 13+) 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins 💰 PRICE: $30.00 - $49.50/ pp (pending on group size) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY Aside from her inn, Great Grandma Netty (aka GG) had a passion for two things: puzzles and collecting ghosts! (And she was definitely a cat lady.) Sadly, she recently passed away, but her paranormal friends are still here and starting to get restless. With the inn’s grand re-opening scheduled for tomorrow, the ghosts are threatening the inn’s future, and it’s up to you to set them free. How many can you help move on before sunrise? 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Rich with local nods and flavor. As Vermonters, these are near and dear to us, but visitors are likely to recognize most as well. We love that this game feels so distinctly Vermont. A standout piece of tech is used to extract the ghosts from the haunted objects and help them “move on”. It creates a really cool effect, and we appreciated the care in individual, themed creations of each ghost. Lots to do and parallel puzzle paths, especially later in the game. Although there are seven total ghostly objects currently available (and room to add more), as of our visit (>7 months after opening), five was the most a group had found in their original 60 minute game. I do think some enthusiasts could get all seven. (We played with our daughter and a friend the first time around, so were not quite as competitive, and found four.) You can get a discount to replay and (if you choose) start the game with the things you already did unlocked or just do a speed run through the previously completed puzzles (as we did, allowing us to see details and puzzles we hadn't done the first time). Charming narrative touches, from the intro video explaining the unique paranormal storyline to the individual ghost vignettes. Rather than one linear story, the game delivers mini-tales for each haunted object that are infused with local charm. There is a puzzle involving smell, which can often be hit or miss, and we did struggle to distinguish some of the scents. However, most of the items also had visual cues pointing us towards the correct answer, which we very much appreciated! Cute hint system: you earn hints by finding hidden cats and kittens. It fits Grandma Netty’s vibe and makes players feel more empowered to use hints since they’ve “earned” them. Given the higher volume of puzzles, you might consider using them a bit sooner than you otherwise would. While there are some tech reveals, the many solves primarily utilize traditional locks. However, with some unique formats (e.g., only one directional lock) and helpful symbols related to the relevant puzzle next to each 4-digit lock, we never had to guess which code should go where. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Players are told that finding 1-2 ghosts is equivalent to “escaping” this room. Yet, with 7 to uncover currently, there are more puzzles than most teams can finish in one attempt. While we took advantage of the offer to replay, it could be frustrating for out-of-town players who don’t have the time to return. An option for a double booking or longer time slot could help! One puzzle could use a bit more signposting, leaving us unsure whether we had enough information to start and keeping us from most of the 3rd puzzle track in our first attempt. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? "Green Mountain Ghost Hunt" rivals "Vermonsters" as the Vermontiest escape room around. Its challenge comes more from the sheer volume of puzzles than their individual difficulty, making it accessible to newer players while still offering plenty to do for enthusiasts. The lighthearted, slightly spooky tone (described as being in the vein of Disney’s Haunted Mansion) makes it a great choice for families (we’d say ages 10+) and anyone who prefers their ghost stories with charm instead of chills. While we’ve enjoyed all the rooms at Escape Room 60, this one joins The Vermonsters as our local standouts - the perfect way to get some local flavor while getting your escape room fix. 🔎 HINT Spooky dolls are always getting into fights with one another. One stab and they’re dead! ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO "Green Mountain Ghost Hunt" is at Escape Room 60’s South Burlington location (along with "The Tomb"), in the “Blue Mall.” There is free parking (usually readily available), with food also available nearby. There are no lockers inside, but there is a coat rack or you may bring things into the room with you. A bathroom is available, and there is seating in the lobby. • Escape Room 60 (South Burlington) - "The Tomb"

LOCATION: South Burlington, Vermont, USA Photo above is property of Escape Room 60 Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: The Tomb 📅 DATE PLAYED: May 31, 2024 🎬 GENRE: Ancient Temple 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 4 ppl): 5/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-12 PPL (Recommend 2-4 ppl; Ages 6-12 must be accompanied by an adult) 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins 💰 PRICE: $30.00 - $49.50/ pp (pending on group size) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY A team of archaeologists may have gone too far in investigating a newly discovered tomb, displacing some ancient items of great importance. Since then, strange and terrible things have been happening. Are you able to return the pilfered artifacts to their rightful places and reverse the pharaoh's curse? If not, the whole world may be doomed, as the curse will unleash its full wrath in 60 minutes. 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE It felt like we were in an underground tomb! Immersive for sure, dimly lit but plenty of lights were provided so it was easy to investigate, archeologist-style. There were some fun and surprising uses of modern technology, which were smoothly integrated into the room so as not to take away from the sense of being somewhere ancient. It's a larger space, and there are multiple things to do in multiple places so it is ideal for a group! The scale was impressive as well, with hands-on puzzles taking up plenty of real estate and feeling authentic. The puzzles themselves aren't overly difficult, but they are a lot of fun and utilize a wide variety of the typical features of an archeological dig in a tomb. They are well designed and make sense - no guessing what the designer was thinking! 🧩 MISSED THE MARK There was one puzzle that was a physical challenge of sorts that provided the only real source of frustration. The challenge was in navigating it, not understanding it. There was a potential work around, which helps. It's a bit more of a checklist sort of room - you need to complete all the tasks, but the story doesn't necessarily develop as the room unfolds. There was one visual puzzle that we found difficult to resolve, but we were able to work it out via process of elimination. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This is a super fun, playful room. There are lots of large objects and artifacts to interact with in the course of solving puzzles, which makes it ideal for birthday parties, families, and bachelor/bachelorette parties. It would make an excellent first room, as it's memorable, achievable and fun without being simplistic. The wide range of puzzle types means everybody - rookie to veteran - will find a time to shine! ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO There is free parking available both in front and rear lots of this shopping complex; while it was ample when we arrived, evidently it can fill up at peak days/times, so allow a bit of extra time in case. There is a small lobby and bathroom available. There are no lockers available, so plan to leave any valuables at home or bring them in with you. • Escape Room 60 (Williston) - "Area 51"

LOCATION: Williston, Vermont, USA Photo above is property of Escape Room 60 Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Area 51 📅 DATE PLAYED: March 10, 2023 🎬 GENRE: Sci-Fi, Aliens 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 4 ppl): 5/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-10 ppl (Recommend 2-4 ppl) 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins 💰 PRICE: $30.00 - $33.00/ pp (pending on group size) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY An incredibly dangerous and adaptable alien specimen has escaped its containment within this government facility. You need to get in and lockdown the facility before the government takes drastic, nuclear measures to remove the threat - in just 60 minutes! Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The game doesn’t take itself too seriously, and you’ll enjoy all kinds of alien visitors along the way - I even got attacked! Beware… While there are quite a few traditional locks in the game, they come in many varieties and we rarely questioned which code matched which one. There are several rewarding tech integrations in the game, which enhance the ambience and also contribute to gameplay. We particularly enjoyed a few of the highly tactile puzzles, and one interesting prop we hadn’t seen before! The decor is comprehensive and befitting of a top-secret government facility, making for an immersive experience. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK There was one tech item that is a cool gadget that works in the theme and was part of my favorite puzzle, but it was quite fiddly and we were delayed for a few minutes trying to get it to work. While there is some tech in the room, it relies heavily on traditional locks of various flavors, many of which were very close to the floor and a bit awkward. An additional flashlight would have been handy for some of these as well! This is currently their oldest game, and there is some evident wear on some of the locks and props - though this didn’t detract much from actual gameplay. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? "Area 51" is a fun, family-friendly game with some surprises - both silly and cool. While it has the lowest success rate of their current rooms, it also has fewer puzzles, so enthusiasts (who may find them more approachable) may get through it a little faster. Though, we definitely experienced part of the “curse of the enthusiast” - making some assumptions about how things would play out that were incorrect. A good reminder to pay attention and keep an open mind to avoid jumping to erroneous conclusions. If you only play one game at Escape Room 60, we would still recommend "Vermonsters" for its unique local flavor, but Area 51 makes a great additional room if you have time! ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO There is a bathroom available and a lobby with seating. They are located in a shopping plaza-type area with a reasonable amount of free parking available in the lot. There are restaurants and a green nearby for grabbing grub and relaxing after you're finished or fueling before you start. • Escape Room 60 (Williston) - "Spellbound!"

LOCATION: Williston, Vermont, USA Photo above is property of Escape Room 60 Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Spellbound! 📅 DATE PLAYED: April 30, 2022 🎬 GENRE: Fantasy 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 6/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-12 ppl (Recommend 2-6 ppl) 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins 💰 PRICE: $28.00/ pp ($99.00 Min) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY The evil wizard Orlock has stolen the Sphere of Souls and hidden it away. Worse yet, he has locked up your wizarding tutor and stolen his wand! You and your team have 60 minutes to find the wand, locate your friendly wizard, and reclaim the Sphere of Souls. 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE We went in expecting a Harry Potter themed room and were pleasantly surprised to find it was an original wizard's lair. The room was rich in decorations, providing a lot of fun and interesting materials to scan and process (and play with) initially. Once we had explored the room it was clear where to start, and the puzzles unfolded in a logical, linear manner from there. Although there were quite a few locks, each one was different in terms of number of digits or letters, so it was always clear which solution went with which lock. We were lucky to have a fun, optional puzzle added in!! (Experienced players can inquire about this option). Beyond the locks, there were several tactile puzzles that were fun to explore. Each item is used only once, so it's easy to keep track of what is and isn't in play at any time in the game. Pen, scratch paper, calculator, magnifying glass, etc. are all provided should you need them. There is one specific eye-catching centerpiece that provides a sense of anticipation, and delivers a quality pay-off. There were also several times where we expected a specific outcome and appreciated that we were totally wrong! Great for families and kids both, thanks to the fun decor as well as the relative challenge level of the puzzles. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK The linear nature and relatively small room area could make it less engaging for groups of 8 or more. For fans of searching, there's not a huge amount to hunt up. We had a lot of fun playing, but if you're looking for a high degree of difficulty, this room may not be for you. Audio is required to solve a couple of the puzzles (non-dialogue, so very difficult to transcribe in any meaningful way), which would make the room difficult for hearing-impaired individuals. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? I think this room is fun for kids or groups of newer escapists, or for experienced puzzlers looking for a fun and breezy night out. We cruised through a lot of the puzzles and locks during our hint-free escape (two of us, often tackling puzzles cooperatively). A larger group of serious puzzlers unopposed to taking hints could cut 10+ minutes off that time. We thoroughly enjoyed our 52-minutes in this endearing, magical game. 🔎 HINT Numerous times, I thought the shifting portrait was of Jean Valjean. ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Parking is plentiful as this game room is located in a four-sided plaza around a green area, with ample spaces on all four sides of the green. There are also restaurants and a movie theater in the same plaza, making for a full and fun night out whether it is date night or a more social outing with a group of friends. Escape Room 60 is clearly marked and easy to find. We had the same great GM - Turner, that we had for our previous game - "Vermonsters" Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) #DaveBristol #IRLescaperoom #EscapeRooms #Fantasy #Wizards #EscapeRoom60 #USA #Vermont

  • Escape Room 60 (Williston) - "Vermonsters"

LOCATION: Williston, Vermont, USA Photo above is property of Escape Room 60 Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Vermonsters 📅 DATE PLAYED: January 9, 2022 🎬 GENRE: Cryptids, Carnival 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 5/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-8 ppl (Recommend 2-6 ppl) 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins 💰 PRICE: $28.00 - $49.50/ pp (pending on group size) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY Seeking shelter in a snowstorm, you wind up in a strange cabin…you soon discover that it belongs to Balthazar, a carny who runs a freakshow of oddities. He's searching for the rumored cryptids of Vermont - the Awful, Bigfoot, and Champ (the monster of Lake Champlain). These creatures would undoubtedly be stars in his sideshow! It’s up to you to figure out what’s happened and save Champ. Photo above is property of Escape Room 60 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE This is such a fun and original theme! The mixture of carnival and cryptids is unexpected but highly entertaining, and we loved that it also incorporated authentic Vermont lore. For the most part, the decor is a fantastic mixture of the two, with creepy clowns, giant Bigfoot, an animatronic fortune teller, and so much more. There is lots to look at, and it feels both like a homey log cabin and bizarre hideout for a crazy cryptid-hunting carny. We had to take a few minutes after the game to just go back and appreciate everything and take it all in (when we were not laser-focused on puzzling)! This is not a scary room, and it doesn’t take itself too seriously, but there are definitely some somewhat creepy decorations that add to the ambience. Coulrophobes beware! There are a lot of traditional locks in this game, but they come in many varied formats (directional, key, keypad, varied length word, varied length number, color-coded, Chinese splitting spring, and even a date lock). As such, players are spared the frustration of having to run around trying to decide which of several identical locks your particular answer should go into. We found this system to work very smoothly, and got to repeatedly experience that satisfaction of the lock clicking open! Throughout the game, props and technology were integrated into the puzzles in a number of entertaining and satisfying ways, and there were quite a few surprises and reveals along the way. This kept the momentum and energy up consistently. Some of the carnival-themed interactions made me feel like a giddy little kid at the fair. Lastly, the pen and paper provided was a small but helpful detail to facilitate solving a couple thornier problems. There was a really nice variety and number of puzzles, with fairly minimal searching. As enthusiasts, this was not the most difficult room for us, which is certainly appropriate for the market. However, we still really enjoyed the puzzles. There was great flow, plenty of tactile interactions, everything made sense, and it all worked really smoothly. Our GM, Turner, had plenty of enthusiasm and energy. After a recent frustrating experience with over-hinting at another venue, we very much appreciated that, at one point when we got stuck for a bit, they offered a hint without forcing it on us. We decided to give ourselves a few more minutes and were able to get the satisfaction of the aha moment that comes from figuring it out ourselves! We definitely do take hints plenty of times, but it was nice to have the option to struggle a bit when we were not quite ready to give in. They also gave hints in character, which is always way more fun (even if we weren’t sure exactly who that character was). 🧩 MISSED THE MARK There is no single, major WOW moment or huge reveal in this game. Thankfully, as mentioned above, there are many fun smaller surprises to keep you going, and the theme itself is incredibly memorable. There was more story development in this room than in many that we have played, primarily discovered through notes you read along the way. Our purpose was clear and Balthazar's motives made sense. However, as is often the case, there were still some parts of the tale that didn’t totally make sense to us and could perhaps be tightened up a bit more. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Whether you’re from Vermont or just visiting and want to get a bit of local flavor, Vermonsters is a really entertaining way to learn a little Green Mountain lore. And what Vermonter wouldn’t want to rescue baby Champ, the sea monster of Lake Champlain? The unique and playful theme, along with its associated decor, is vibrant, charming, and refreshing - a real stand out for this room! If you’re into creepy cabins, clowns, carnivals, or cryptids, step right up. As enthusiasts, it was not a nail-biter, will-we-make-it-out level of difficulty, but it still took two of us 48 minutes. We definitely appreciated the number and diversity of puzzles and the overall smoothness of the experience. This would also be a fantastic room for both families and newbies, particularly in slightly larger groups. Come combine Vermonsters with a little fall foliage, Ben & Jerry’s, and maple syrup, and you will have the full Vermont experience! 🔎 HINT Carnival rides turn you around and flip you upside down! ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO There is a bathroom available and a lobby with seating. • CU Adventures in Time & Space - "Game Night"

LOCATION: Urbana, Illinois, USA Photo above is property of CU Adventures in Time & Space Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Game Night 📅 DATE PLAYED: May 14, 2026 🎬 GENRE: Adventure 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 6/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 4-8 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $32.00/ pp (4 ppl), $27.00/ pp (5-8 ppl) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY You’ve gathered at your buddy’s house for the DnD night…you think this might finally be the session you complete your 6-month campaign! But his annoying little brother has hidden all the pieces somewhere...can you find them all and get your quest back on track? 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Strong NPC interactions: Our GM was fantastic. They did a great game intro as our buddy, the Dungeon Master, as well as playing another in-game character. They balanced humor, drama, and guidance, and did a fabulous job improv-ing off their interactions with us. Immersive early-game reveals: There are two moments in the first section that were particularly memorable. One very much brought us back to our youth in the 80’s, while the other pivots into absurdist fantasy. We were grinning like we just rolled a nat 20. Excellent environmental progression: The game begins in very retro 80’s nostalgia, with some very authentic touches, before expanding into the fantastical realm. The attention to detail, scale of some elements, and overall progression feels surprisingly epic. Unexpected structure: Midway through the experience, the game delivers a nice twist – like any good adventure campaign. It was a fun variation of a fairly common mechanism, which we really enjoyed. Escalating stakes and momentum: The game steadily ramps up the scale and thematic stakes as you progress. It was hard for us to anticipate what might come next, but we were always excited to see how the story would develop! 🧩 MISSED THE MARK It was a fabulous game, and as mentioned above we really appreciated the way the game progressed overall. But, for us, the ending was the least rewarding section, even though the set, effects, and concept were all really cool. Partly, we were less clear on the reason behind our task, but we also found the challenges in that section less fulfilling. Not that it was bad, it just felt less climactic after so many satisfying moments earlier on. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? "Game Night" is totally radical, dude. It’s hard to believe that it was originally a pop-up for GenCon! Although it’s now been modified as a permanent installation, it still shows that CU Adventures doesn’t do anything half-assed and has incredibly high standards. It captures both the 80’s nostalgia and the fantasy of DnD perfectly. There’s no need to be familiar with the roleplaying game, but there are plenty of nods to appreciate if you are. While it still played quite well at two, this is one that is good for bigger groups, with a number of opportunities for individual roles and tasks. The actor interactions also really bring a lot to the table here. They’re generally brief but fun and don’t require a lot of players, making it a good introduction to playing with actors (and more approachable for those who aren’t a fan). It’s playful and fantastical, with plenty of surprises along the way. So grab your party members and come see if you can come out on top in this epic game night! Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Private lot with a good amount of parking. The generous lobby/waiting area where you check in has both shirts for sale and a creative, co-operative version of tetris you can play. There are bathrooms and a water cooler available. There are no lockers, but you can leave your things in the rooms themselves. On the other side of the building, you’ll find Parcadia – a very cool mini-golf experience with a tavern, a mini puzzle-hunt, and lots more in the works! Across the street there is also a food hall with a variety of options. • 60 to Escape (Gurnee) - "Starship: Final Frontier"

LOCATION: Gurnee, Illinois, USA Photo above is property of 60 to Escape Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝 ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Starship: Final Frontier 📅 DATE PLAYED: May 15, 2026 🎬 GENRE: Sci-Fi 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 6/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-6 ppl 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: $40.00 - $45.00/ pp (depending on # of players) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes 📖 THE STORY You’re embarking on an intergalactic journey and put into cryosleep, expecting to awaken in a half century at a bold new world. However, something’s gone dreadfully wrong, and the ship has woken you…now you find out that you’re on a collision course with the sun! Can you and your team turn things back around? 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Spacey, futuristic environment: There were some cool props, décor elements, and interactions on the ship that helped make you feel like you were really there. One, in particular, was quite entrancing and we could have gazed at it a long time…which we kind of did, as a search fail left us stuck in the small entry room for much longer than we should have been! Subtle tie-ins: As with many of 60 to Escape’s games, you’ll find a number of Easter egg references to the company, staff, and their other games. (For example, Calastof is a mix of the two owners’ names). We appreciate these personal details and how they can tie together aspects of what are otherwise very disparate worlds across their experiences. Clear goals: There’s a nice checklist of duties you need to take care of to get the ship back up and running so you can avoid burning yourselves to a crisp! This clear structure helps to focus your attention right away and clearly indicates when you’ve accomplished something, so you can see how you’re progressing through the main section of the game. Fosters communication: As with many of 60 to Escape’s games, there are several well-implemented split information puzzles, providing great opportunities across multiple spaces for teamwork and communication. They even have a built-in speaker and microphone system between the two most distant areas to keep it easy to communicate from afar! 🧩 MISSED THE MARK One fiddly bit: There was one slightly finicky puzzle that led to a bit of frustration. However, it would have been easier with more players, and it was still a good test of teamwork and communication! 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? "Starship: Final Frontier" is a great game for larger groups, with lots of opportunities for collaboration. It’s a very tech-based room, with plenty of futuristic gadgets to play with! And you’ll need to have a keen eye, as there’s some tricky searching to be done. You’ll also have power to determine your fate with a choice at the end. So, if you’ve always dreamed of joining NASA (though…probably without the flying-into-the-sun part…), now’s your chance to hop on the spaceship and take control! ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO This location is inside the Gurnee Mills Mall (so plenty of free parking), to the left of the food court when you enter through entrance J. The lobby/waiting area where you check in has both shirts and some mainstream tabletop puzzle games for sale. There are bathrooms available. There are no lockers, but there are hooks and a spot on the floor in each room where you can leave your things.
