The only way to save yourselves from an untimely death is to escape the holding cell and find out where the actual thief has hidden the gold and return it to Captain Calabaza before he returns in 60 minutes!! Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The concept of dividing the group up at the beginning so they have to work together in order to escape was quite unique and worked well with the theme of this game. If you have a large group, this room would be perfect as everyone has something to do. There's lots of discoveries to be made and as some people are collecting information, others can be solving puzzles. All the props were made to look like we're on a ship. The room was divided nicely into sections and you can actually feel like you're traveling from one space to another. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK One of the puzzles confused us as the coordinates seemed to be mixed up in terms of how we should be reading them. There was a puzzle that was changed from the previous setting but the clues were still left on the props so that was definitely a red herring for us. One of the sound clues needs to be a bit louder as we had to listen several times but I would imaging with a bigger group it'll be even harder to hear. We were able to solve something ahead of time as we had access to the clue but that confused us in terms of the game flow. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This room is the most difficult room in this location. There's a lot to do and with a group of two it was even challenging for us. We had one puzzle left before we ran out of time. Some of the red herrings/confusing clues also stumped us a bit. The game master told us that this room is still one of their popular rooms as people do love the challenge and who doesn't love a pirate themed room? Prior to the show, we visited his private parlor to try and get an autograph and discovered that he is a murderer!! Now he has locked us inside the parlor and we only have 60 minutes until he returns from his performance. Can we escape in time? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The ambience of the room felt great. As soon as we walked in, the sound and lightning outside the window made the room felt eerie yet full of mystery. One of the props that had we had to use felt quite "magical". Right after we followed the instructions, something revealed itself. The props and clues used stuck to the theme of the game and were all quite easy to understand and follow. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Some props need to be refurnished. One of the logic puzzles was placed at a dim location that made it really difficult to see and work on. The clue also made it confusing on what we had to do with it. The décor in the latter part of the game was great as it contained various magic props except the exit doors kind of took us out of the environment so hopefully the location will be able to hide that in the future. Pink stickers were used too many times on a prop that's not in play. Perhaps use something at least more connected with the theme instead? It does take the aesthetics of the room away. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? If you think you have some " alakazam" in you then give this room a go. This room could be fun for adults but some tricks might really make kids happy. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE There's a good amount of hidden symbols and compartments that felt like works of Leonardo Da Vinci. The large desk was a great idea in the design as it quickly became our workstation. We definitely utilized the chair as well, especially when solving those Math questions. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Props in this room needed updating. There were a good amount of boxes that we had to open. It would have been great if we had some provided direction on which code/key belongs to which lock as there was a lot of trial and error. Be prepared for Math questions. You'll either love it or hate it. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This room is their oldest room at this location. The puzzles and set design is very basic and feels outdated. For an enthusiast, you'll probably complete this room pretty quickly. If you like to learn the ropes with classic escape room puzzles, this might be a great beginner room. Moreover, if you have a large group, this room could be a comfortable fit. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE If you love to open locks and enter codes, you'll love this room. Being that it's a bank theme, everything was locked up. The feeling of retrieving item after item was quite satisfying. When we first walked into the room, it felt very spacious like we're in the lobby of a bank. There's actually not much to do a first but we did enjoy the progression from there. There was one particular action that we had to do to get into the security room that felt really realistic. The final prop that reveal the ending was a nice touch. We anticipated the "exit" but not how it was made. Some laser lights would be even more impactful. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK There's a puzzle that required a good amount of memorization. We were not provided with anything to write on even though there is a whiteboard in the room. Since we're allowed to use phones, we ended up using that instead but it did take us out of the game a bit due to this. Some props needed updating as they were missing from the intended space and we were confused as to if it was actually part of the game or not. One of the props was supposed to be used to open one specific lock but for some reason it was generic and we opened another lock with it too which confused us. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Most of the puzzles in this room were not too difficult. But there's still a lot to do especially for two people group. There's a lot of "follow the instruction" clues but also ones you'll need sometime to solve (hope you like Math!). We did love the concept and the "story" that the designer followed which made us feel like we were in an actual heist. You might also need a good memory at some point. At first, the new homeowners didn't believe in that sort of thing until they started to witness some strange activity. You and your team have been hired to investigate the property and figure out a way to lift the curse so that they can sell it. If successful, you will also get a cut of the profit!! Right when we entered the room, I felt like there were eyes staring at us from various locations. From time to time you could also hear some creepy sounds. They definitely nailed the abandoned manor feeling. Some of the props used in the latter part of the room could definitely make some jump scare moments for players. This is probably the most comprehensive storyline room Amazing Escape Room has created. It was very clear to us what terrible things has happened in this creepy manor. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Some props need an update especially the one we had to use to actually solve a puzzle. One of the clues felt like it was given to the players way too early as it could be relevant to something else so we saw that as a red herring. Items that are not in play should be bolted down. Some items need to be reenforced again. It would be nice to add either light or sound when something opened or was triggered by us. We were told a few times by the GM to check which brings us out of the immersion. One of the puzzles felt a bit confusing to us (although we ended up trying this thought process anyways) on how a 5 digit lock was related to a certain clue as it didn't feel like there could be any relevance in terms of the numbers. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? The balance of the storyline and puzzle usage for this room was quite nice. We would love to see more usage of storyline in association with puzzles for Amazing Escape Room. Although it doesn't have to all be in written format, the player should be able to understand at the end of the game what they've just experienced. Now it's your time. The Warden is preoccupied with a riot in the adjacent cell. Will you be able to escape within the hour before he gets back? Maybe with some help from your cellmates you just might have a chance... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The cooperative puzzles between the two cellmates felt like a real-life jailbreak situation. We really enjoyed utilizing the tools that were provided in order to break free from the first part of the game. The objective of breaking out of jail by having to break out of the cell, figure out an escape route, hardwire computers, and use fingerprint recognition were all great concepts that connected closely with the theme of the room. There was a good variety of different types of puzzles that we had to solve. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK We wish a few more puzzles could be added to the cooperative segment of the game. There was a last-minute puzzle that was added for our team that made the game more challenging but the props used could be confusing to the players in terms of the color strings and post-its. Perhaps that should be clarified somehow. A whiteboard would be quite useful in this room as there was a puzzle that had a pretty long sequence. The TVs in the room should have been used for some sort of puzzle or cluing. Also, the sound system needs to be louder as we couldn't hear the audio clues. One of the clues was displaying a live feed and this could be seen as a red herring to players. We suggest using a pre-recorded video to keep the consistency. The ending puzzle needed a "confirmation" sound. We weren't sure if it actually worked or not even though we had followed the instructions. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? "Prison Break" is Amazing Escape Room Cherry Hill's newest room. It's the most technically advanced room at this location. We like how the creator designed the layout of the room. It made the players feel like they are in an actual jail where they need to break out of their cells first, then come into the guard's office area and then eventually escape to the outside world. The use of physical tools in combination with the technology part of the jailbreak was a nice mix. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Candy, candy, candy! That's all we saw when we entered the room. We felt like little kids again with huge grins on our faces. The set design instantly made us happy with the colorful wallpapers, numerous types of candies, and even a baking oven! If you love puzzles then you're in for a treat (get it?)! For two people, you'll definitely need to "divide and conquer". One of our favorite puzzles was a simple word puzzle but you'll find a wide range of different types of puzzles in this game including logic, Math, search and find, tactile and more! The "transformation" trick at the end was a pleasant surprise to a sweet finale. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK It would be great to associate the locks to the puzzles as there's a good amount of locks to go through the "trial and error" method. Some smaller props needed updating. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This room is definitely a step up from their older rooms in this location. The decor and props were on point along with the way they were utilized in the puzzles. Although I have to say, I did get extremely lucky with the last puzzle as apparently there was some Math calculation (The previous creators must be a fan of Math puzzles. Every room that we've played had some Math puzzles in it.) that needed to be done but I just randomly picked the right pieces. This room will guarantee to make kids and adults happy. Who doesn't want to be surrounded by candy while trying to solve some puzzles? The fate of the human race lies in your hands. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The puzzles all fit closely to the theme of the room. Most of them were Math and Chemistry related. There were a few cool visual puzzles. The ending did add a special effect that made us feel like we've completed the mission and have been saved from the virus. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK The set design felt too much like a regular office rather than a lockdown laboratory. We didn't feel a sense of urgency during the gameplay especially being that there was an outbreak out there and we only have a limited amount of time left. Perhaps adding a countdown timer might help . A prop confused us on where it should be utilized. There was no indication that it should have been placed at that certain spot. There was an item that was very difficult to maneuver . Even by following the instructions carefully, we were not able to get it to work properly. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This room focused more on the number of puzzles rather than the ambiance . We would recommend this room to puzzle lovers (especially if you like Math) rather than people that prefer heavy narrative or tech. If you intend to go in as a smaller group then definitely go with the "divide and conquer" route. Rumor has it, the Chinese Relic that their uncle brought into the house could be the source... Will you be able to find it in time? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Starting in the dark and going into the "unknown" was a creepy way to introduce this cursed mansion. There were some narrative that was introduced in this room as letters from the past which were fitting with the theme of the room. We hope to see more of this type of "introduction" in their other games. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Some props in this room needed to be replaced or updated. There was a tool that we had to use for a puzzle that was really difficult to measure the accuracy. We strongly suggest swapping that puzzle out with a new concept. Decoding in a dark room is already quite difficult to do so we don't think using a small decode (that's very hard to read) and a long cipher was necessary to make this puzzle even harder and more time consuming. A final puzzle was confusing to us as there were multiple ways to solve the puzzle that would have given different answers. Some pen and paper should be provided in this room as the sentences that we had to decode were quite long. Some props had colors on them which were not relevant to the colors of clues that were in different parts of the room. This should be removed as a red herring. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This room is one of their older rooms. We feel that the story has potential to be developed into something even spookier and could potentially have more turn of events that we could discover while playing the game. Currently, we can't really put together a full story. It feels like pieces are scattered throughout the room. We were happy they used the space for this theme as there were a lot of "secrets" to be discovered in this speakeasy and it is definitely not what it seems on the surface. There are a lot to be done in this room so if you love puzzles, you're in the right place. The puzzles all had a sense of "detective" work build into the clues and as we played through the game, we were able to identify people and things that felt like a game of CLUE. We really enjoyed how a maze puzzle was being utilized in this room. This is the first time we've seen it being used this way. The final completion of how the ledger was retrieved was a nice way to end the game. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK One of props felt like it was supposed to be a working puzzle before but now it's just being placed in there as a prop. There were some red herrings in this room that were unused and could easily be removed from the room. We were unsure what the relevance of one of the clues was to the answer input. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Although this is a classic storyline of finding a mobster's ledger to put him away forever, it never gets old. The hidden secrets and items that we discovered along the way was what made the game exciting. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE We like the lighting and ambience in this room. The decor and props definitely has a medieval vibe to it. If you love puzzles, this room had a ton more than other rooms we've seen in Amazing Escape Rooms. You'll be quite busy with decoding, deducting and detecting clues. We were glad a boogie board was given to us to write the answers down. There was a good mixture of puzzle difficult levels in this room. The ending was also presented in a puzzle format versus the classic "you've escaped with a key". We liked this modification. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK The beginning puzzle's sequence was quite long. It could hinder the entire game play of the latter room if it's not solved. This room is located closest to the streets so unfortunately you are able to hear the cars going by from time to time which takes a bit away from the immersion. Although some storylines were present in this room, it was not relevant to the original story. The stories were put in mainly as puzzles but there were no connection to the main character nor to the goal of the game. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This room was probably the most challenging room we've played at Amazing Escape Rooms as two people. There were scattered clues throughout the rooms and long sequence codes we had to decipher. But as enthusiasts we really enjoyed this room as it kept us going and we didn't have any moments where we were stumped on puzzle flow. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The room was spacious so can easily fit one large group (although we were hoping for multi-rooms for some "secrecy" instead of a one room "reveal") There was a deduction puzzle that required multi-step solve that was clever The props and puzzles were all relatable to the lab theme 🧩 MISSED THE MARK The stickers used for non-clue related items and actual clues were the same. It was difficult to visualize which was relevant to the game. We think the clue ones should be either on a separate clue paper or be embedded in perhaps the room posters themselves. There were several keypads in the room where could input different passwords. It would be the best to have an indicator especially if trial and error could lockout the keypads. One of the places where we had to insert the props were pretty sensitive. It was difficult to know if they were activated or not. One particular fob that we had to use to activate a keypad had a "sticker" indicator on top of the keypad. We were using the fob on that sticker for the longest and nothing happened. It was weird to have to use a fob on the actual keypad itself. We suggest swapping this prop out for a simpler version. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This room is great for beginner escapers as the puzzles were quite easy. The manager did say that they will be adding in some puzzles to create a harder version of this room. So if you are booking this in the future, you might have this option by then. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Perhaps it is because it's a newer room but we certainly appreciated the upkeep and the improvement on the set design. They even added in a pretty roof! Different puzzle variations were discovered in this game. We were also able to "divide and conquer" in some occasions. The way of "entering" into the latter room was "fun". The "way to escape" was different than the ordinary "key escape". We much prefer this type of "mission ending". 🧩 MISSED THE MARK We were hoping some puzzles could be added into the artwork themselves as it felt like a waste for them to be just decors. A prop in this room was very difficult to use. Either the mechanism needs to be replaced or the prop itself needs to be redone. There were a lot of color puzzles in this game and this could be quite difficult for players who have issues with colors. There is a puzzle where we thought there should be a clue as to where to input the answer. It didn't really have any relevance to why it was supposed to be put there and in that format. One of the puzzle clues could be seen as a red herring as there is a physical poster with the same item in the room but we were given a clue paper that had less of a relevance to the puzzle itself. We were quite confused and had to ask for a hint to get clarification. This would be a much better puzzle if the hint was placed on an actual item that was already displayed in the room. A puzzle closer to the end was quite confusing as there are multiple ways to solve it. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This is a fun room overall. We did feel the "secrecy" as to the hiding place of the doctrine and had a sense of accomplishment when it was found. If you have issues with color puzzles, definitely bring some teammates with you to this room. If they are able to remove some of the red herrings this could be quite solid in terms of game play. It’s clear that there’s a murderer nearby, but if you want to catch him, you’ll need to move quickly! You have one hour to investigate the premises, gathering the clues you need to get inside the killer’s mind and hopefully prevent him from taking another victim. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The room’s atmosphere does a great job of being creepy while still feeling safe and fun to be in. There are jump-scares and gore, but they don’t overstay their welcome or make the experience oppressive. Instead, the tone is scary in the way that a good haunted house is: you jump a bit, then have room to laugh at yourself about it and continue on with the puzzles. Puzzle flow is excellent. There is often more than one puzzle active at a time so everyone stays busy, while at the same time each puzzle doles out enough clues to maintain the feeling of chasing a good lead. We only got stuck once (on the last puzzle), but were really satisfied when we eventually got over the hurdle! The room has very little fat on it. Just about everything present in the room will be useful, and anything that isn’t is usually obvious and doesn’t distract from the puzzles themselves. No need to worry about red herrings or multi-use clues here! 🧩 MISSED THE MARK A minor quibble, but after we solved the last puzzle, the timer kept running for a couple minutes while a story event played out, which made us anxious that we hadn’t finished the room yet. The staff was able to tell us our actual time, but it would have been nice for the clock to stop earlier so the group can enjoy the story event without worrying that it might be another puzzle, and so the screen displays the correct completion time at the end. There wasn’t a good place to put things down since we were instructed not to put anything on most of the surfaces in the room. It also would have been nice to have pen and paper, though the puzzles could be completed just fine without. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? My team and I had a wonderful time playing “ The House on Clinton Road ” and in writing this review I had to get nit-picky to come up with any critiques, and all those I could think of are both highly fixable and don’t seriously detract from the game experience. Both the puzzle flow and atmosphere on display here demonstrate a high degree of polish, which makes it all the more impressive that this is Fairfield Escape Room’s very first room. While not immensely challenging, the puzzles here are still satisfying to solve and connected together so well that my team was constantly on the move, chasing lead after lead in a way that felt like an action-packed investigation. Most puzzles weren’t extraordinarily complex, but I usually prefer a simpler puzzle with watertight logic over a multistep monstrosity that requires several big leaps in logic to solve. With a tight focus on the former option, the result here is a room that is approachable for beginners, while still plenty fun for those experienced players looking for a quality experience over raw difficulty. All told, “ The House on Clinton Road ” is a strong first room for Fairfield Escape Room, and one that I would recommend for just about anyone, so long as they can handle horror as an escape room genre. At time of writing, this is the only escape experience open to the public at Fairfield Escape Room, but I will certainly be back once more are available! ℹ️   ADDITIONAL INFO Fairfield Escape Room is on the second floor of a business complex, accessible via stairs or an elevator. We really enjoyed tackling an "unconventional puzzle" right at the start of the game, which perfectly complemented the theme. Solving a puzzle while uncovering the background story was a brilliant method to "force" us to learn about the storyline. A later puzzle offered a unique "perspective" that is rarely seen in escape rooms, yet it aligned with the theme perfectly. The game concluded with a narrative delivered by a character from the game, providing a much more satisfying finish than merely watching the clock stop or having the GM greet you at the end. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK This room would greatly benefit from more "jump scare" moments to amplify the "haunted" atmosphere. Adding sound effects would also be advantageous. One of the clues was challenging to read in the dim lighting, prompting us to use a clue. There's a space in the game that could be better utilized, whether through additional decor or more puzzles. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This room offers an exhilarating experience for both beginners and seasoned enthusiasts. While some puzzle solutions might be more apparent to experienced players, beginners will encounter their first "wow" moments with the reveals. As you progress through the game, you'll uncover the reasons behind the manor's haunting and the sinister events that took place. We appreciated how the storyline unfolds through puzzles, catering to players who prefer not to read extensively in an escape room.
