Do note the "blue" circle on the side of the main door, those are emergency exit buttons and NOT the doorbell. Do not press those or else the entire escape room resets and everything opens up. We loved this room from the beginning to the end. The owner did an amazing job building all the props to provide a super-immersive experience. He spared no expense at getting some incredible pieces in there. It's a must-see and definitely ask him to tell you the stories of how acquired them. We saw a lot of high-tech puzzles that we could've have seen at some of NYC's prestigious chain escape rooms. There were no red herrings in the room and the story was very direct and to the point. We highly recommend trying this room if you are ever in the area. We thank the owner for letting us leave our "ESCAPETHEROOMers" signature tag on the door (see below). Feel free to take a photo with it if you are ever there for us! *** We regret to inform you that this company has closed its doors *** #CiciCao #review #escaperooms #escape #rooms #games #springfieldsgreatescape #thevampirehunter #vampire #massachusetts #springfield #ma
- Room ESC - "The Curse of Boar Tavern"
LOCATION : Hopewell, Virginia, USA Photo above is property of Room ESC Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : The Curse of Boar Tavern π DATE PLAYED : November 10, 2021 π¬ GENRE : Mystical, Medieval π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 4.5/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-5 ppl π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins π° PRICE : $25.00/ pp βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Private π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY The legendary Boar Tavern is one of the roughest hangouts mainly occupied by a bunch of scoundrels. It used to be quite popular until it was cursed by some unknown entity. Anyone who enters the tavern disintegrates into ashes once they've had a drink. Do you have what it takes to break the curse and escape or will you also meet the safe fate as those before you... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE Love the originality of "The Curse of Boar Tavern" storyline and the unique introduction video. We were quite impressed with the set design as the owner uses whatever he is able to upcycle to create the room. In this case, he installed a wooden bar table, candle sconces, accent lighting, and a tarp on the ceiling (which was empty coffee bags from his "Guncotton Coffee" shop) all to combine an mysterious tavern in the forest look. Certain hidden areas were cleverly implemented by the disguise from the wood decor. There's minimum amount of tech in this room but the owner was still able to create a few "wow" moments for us through simple "triggers". The use of various characters in the story to build the hint system and having some fun with how the hints were given added some funny moments during the game. Love the lighting and ambience of the room creating that mythical feeling 𧩠MISSED THE MARK One directional type of puzzle was confusing in the beginning due to wording. (update 1/24/22 - owner has reworded this puzzle) Certain props might need to be polished and maintained a bit more. (update 1/24/22 - owner has repaired the prop) Some puzzles didn't feel like it connected with the storyline. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? Although the budget for this room is not as high as some of the other escape rooms we've seen, the quality is actually better than some with a higher budget and tech. It just shows that if you are creative and put your mind into things that you love, it'll show in the actual product. If you're looking for something charming and different with a unique storyline, give " The Curse of Boar Tavern " a visit! Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers βΉοΈ ADDITIONAL INFO At the time we visited (Nov. 10, 2021), the street parking was free. We don't know when and if they are going to change that. There's also a metered parking lot across the street available. The owner also has a coffee cafe right next door called " Guncotton Coffee " with a bunch of really creative coffee & tea concoctions on the menu along with some delicious food. There's also a large indoor & outdoor seating area available. - Philadelphia Room Escape - "Escape From Alcatraz"
LOCATION: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Photo provided by Philadelphia Room Escape πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Escape From Alcatraz π DATE PLAYED : November 6, 2018 π¬ GENRE : Prison Escape π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 7/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : Up To 14 ppl π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins π° PRICE : $26.95 /pp βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Public π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes After our two-floor walk-up, we reached the outside of the door and it said "CLOSED" and we thought we were at the wrong location. Thankfully, we rang the doorbell and our game master was there to let us in. She said that we were the last group of the day. The waiting area had a couple of puzzles to play with. However, the rest of the waiting/ lobby area was extremely messy. We had a choice between "Caribbean Pirate Ship" or "Escape From Alcatraz", so naturally we went w/ the latter figuring that it would have a more intense storyline. To be honest, this room felt like it was in beta-testing and there were a lot of changes that they were constantly making. Our game master was one of the owners and said she has never done an escape room before. As escape room enthusiasts, we highly recommend that the owners, designers, builders, etc experience what it's like from the customer's POV. If you don't know what the competition is like, how can you compare to them. The decor was satisfactory, but the puzzles definitely needed an upgrade. *** We regret to inform you that this company has closed its doors *** #review #escaperooms #escape #rooms #games #philadelphiaroomescape #escapefromalcatraz #alcatraz #Pennsylvania #philadelphia #pa
- Mouse Trap Escape Entertainment - "Octagon House"
LOCATION : Tampa, Florida, USA Photo above is property of Mouse Trap Escape Entertainment Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Octagon House π DATE PLAYED : November 17, 2021 π¬ GENRE : Mystery π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 6.5/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : Up To 8 ppl (Recommend 2-4 ppl) π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins. π° PRICE : $32.99/ pp βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Private π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY There have been stories about old Miss Winslow and her Octagon House. Rumor has it that the house had an excessive amount of rooms that was designed to trap her guests inside. Now, 15 years later, you and your friends decide to sneak inside the Octagon House to find out if the stories are true. But be sure to remember which door you entered, because once it closes, you might not be able to find your way out... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE This particular set design was super unique. Right when we entered the room, we were faced with 8 doors. The thought of trying to open each and every one of them and not knowing what's behind them added a lot of suspense and thrill to the experience. Each door truly led to a different scenery. It was like they each had their own story to tell. Sometimes it could just be a closet and others, something much bigger. As a player, by entering into just the center space of a "maze", you will felt disoriented but in a good way. Each of the areas had different types of puzzles but you will have to go back and forth in order to piece the mystery together. Some puzzles were quite simple and you just needed good eye sight where as others took some logic and deduction to workout the solution. The room had a nice balance to keep the game's flow. There's a good amount of puzzles to be done with just the two of us. You'll feel the sense of urgency as you get closer and closer to the 1 hour mark. The set design had a surprise for us in the ending. It truly embraced the storyline of a "maze". 𧩠MISSED THE MARK The hallway space felt like it could be utilized a bit more in terms of puzzle ideas as we thought about it throughout the game play but never had to go back for anything other than entering/exiting. One puzzle was not really "accessible" for Cici due to her height. She was not able to see the clues to solve the puzzle. The same puzzle also felt like a "trial and error" type of input as it didn't have particular clues other than the "fit". There were a good amount of decorative props in the rooms that had no relevance to the puzzles. Some felt worn by previous players. It would be great if those can be replaced or bolted down to take out the time needed for "searching" as there's already plenty to do in the rooms. The ending felt a little confusing to us as we were not sure if something was triggered or not as we couldn't hear that final message clearly but we were greeted by the GM so essentially we knew we escaped. It would be great if the ending was made more clear and had a more c limactic finish. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? The " Octagon House " truly brings out the idea of the "unknown". Starting off in a room surrounded by 8 doors and a vase in the center, your fate is truly left in the choices you make next. Although the beginning of the game was linear, you'll quickly learn that as you open up more doors, divide and conquer is your best bet. You'll piece together information as you go but you won't find out the actual truth until you solve that last puzzle. Are you ready to test your luck in the " Octagon House "? βΉοΈ ADDITIONAL INFO There are many free parking spaces right outside the facility. You'll need to climb one flight of stairs (not wheelchair accessible). There's a Lobby area with seating. - Great Escape SC - Escape Room - "Viva Lost Vegas"
LOCATION: Columbia, South Carolina, USA Photo above is property of Great Escape SC Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Viva Lost Vegas π DATE PLAYED : November 13, 2021 π¬ GENRE : Mystery π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 4.5/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-8 ppl π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins. π° PRICE : $ 25.00/ pp βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Private π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY OH NO!! Your flight leaves in 2 hours and you only have 60 minutes to pack you stuff! But that's not issue, you can't remember where everything is!! You've got to retrace your steps and try to remember before you miss your flight!! Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE The bar ambience along with the lighting and the "Vegas" and casino table set up went along with the storyline. Certain props could be a lot of fun (if they were utilized in puzzles). 𧩠MISSED THE MARK There's too much decor in the room that were movable which could be seen as red herrings. Some "search and find" aspects of the room didn't really have much cluing so it was literally search anywhere and everywhere. Certain part of the room felt unfinished from a construction standpoint. Some puzzles were really logic leaps for us. We wouldn't have worked it out if it wasn't for the hint There were no "wow" moments in the room. You already know where the next door and that could be easily hidden with something to make it more surprising. The final hint was confusing as we were not sure if we've solved the room or not. It felt like there's a lingering puzzle as we haven't open one of the objects but apparently that's not supposed to be opened. There should be clear indication to a player if certain items are never supposed to be opened prior to the start of the game. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? Full disclosure: we played this room as pretty much the first group so it was still in beta testing stage. The day we went, the camera and walkie talkie was also malfunctioning so we had to wait quite awhile for answers to our hints in the room. I'm sure this has been fixed by now. The owners of Great Escape SC are enthusiasts themselves. They took over this business not long ago. The customer service is great as they are super friendly. Currently this room is a gen 1 room that has potential to become a really fun experience if some tech were added in. The puzzles also need some assistance as we were not able to follow along with the thought process of the creators. We did give a lot of notes to the owners after our game play so hopefully they've implemented some of them. Looking forward to what they do with the place in the near future! βΉοΈ ADDITIONAL INFO There's plenty of free parking in front of the facility. Lobby with seating. These stories were believed to be just rumors until the location of the glove was discovered. It appears to be in the collection of the traveling baseball museum and they are visiting your town. The private tours only last 60 minutes, will you be able to find it in time? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE If you're a baseball fan, you will love the history and memorabilia's in this room. The first room was decorated and felt like a museum 𧩠MISSED THE MARK The dΓ©cor in the latter part of the game didn't feel like a continuation from the first part. It felt more like random furniture pieces placed inside a room. If the museum idea can be incorporated in there as well, it'll make more sense with the storyline. Some props that were involved in a color puzzle need some TLC especially as it was hard to see. We had difficulty piecing together clues and the logic behind some of the puzzles. It felt like some were logic leaps that would make sense to the creators but hard for the players to connect with. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? The owners of Great Escape SC are enthusiasts themselves. They took over this business not long ago. The customer service is great as they are super friendly. We've given them a lot of suggestions on puzzle ideas which hopefully will make these games and new games have a better flow. As enthusiasts, we did feel some frustration with this game but perhaps for new players, they might see things that we have difficulty seeing. LOCATION: Beaufort, South Carolina, USA Photo above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Wizard's Academy π DATE PLAYED : November 14, 2021 π¬ GENRE : Magic, Fantasy π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 7/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 3-8 ppl π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins. π° PRICE : $28.00/ pp βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Private π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY He who shall not be named is plotting his return!! In order to do so, he will need the collection of magical objects that he's created! Mysteriously, they have gone missing and the prime suspects are from Defense Against The Dark Arts Classroom!! You must find the stolen magical objects and prevent him from returning... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE I personally enjoyed the little "test" that was given prior to entering the room (yes, I don't mind a bit of challenging Math outside of the 60 minute timer). It felt like an entrance exam into the academy and a little warm up before the real challenge! The props and decor had us thinking about scenes from Harry Potter right away. As we explored the room, various "magical" things would happen. One special tool that wizards use all the time was cleverly used in this room to give different types of "magic" reveal. We really liked the way they paired it with puzzle variations. The artwork in this room is pretty amazing. They clearly depicted things that would remind you of the wizard world. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK The lighting in the room makes it difficult to see certain clues. There was a "search and final" puzzle that took us a while due to this issue. The clue that we needed to find was also quite small as the search tool that was provided also minimized our search parameter. Also perhaps providing one more tool might help with the search rather than depending on one player since the puzzle is linear so the rest of the players essentially can only wait for a result. One other puzzle's clues were also pretty difficult to see. Perhaps enclosing it in a darker space would help. Since there are various areas we could explore in the room, when we activated a door by solving a certain puzzle, we were unsure where and what opened. Perhaps a light source or sound could help with this. We had to use a bit of "trial and error" during one of the latter puzzles as we're unsure the description of the prop with what was contained in the bottle. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? This game is pretty linear. I would recommend a smaller group as the space also gets a bit tighter as you journey on. Anyone who loves Harry Potter or just wizardry in general can really enjoy themselves in the "Wizard Academy". If you are lucky enough to graduate then definitely challenge yourself with their "Criminally Insane Asylum ". We enjoyed the feel and the decor of the lobby area even though it was simple. We highly recommend that you check out the bathroom as they've even added a touch up there. We heard of this "5Gen High-Tech" room for awhile now and finally got the chance to get out there and try it out. This room definitely did NOT disappoint. We were joined by another couple and felt that four people was just the right amount (especially if you are claustrophobic). It was getting a bit warm in certain places due to the enclosed space. We definitely felt that it was important for the set design to make you feel like you are immersed in an ancient Egyptian tomb. Pretty much everything in the room is tech operated and there are some cool ones that we haven't seen used in other rooms before. There was one puzzle that was quite annoying in the room which we had to physically ask the game master to come into the room to help us. It seemed as if that happens a lot with this puzzle where assistance is needed so this could possibly be the most difficult puzzle to solve in the room. Other than that, we had a lot of fun. *** We regret to inform you that this company has closed its doors *** #review #escaperooms #escape #rooms #games #escapeburg #thetomb #tomb #newyork #brooklyn #bklyn #nyc #ny

Please read our other review on " The Tomb " for more details on their location. After playing "The Tomb" we were invited to try out "The Bunker" room as beta testers. We were joined by three other game masters there who used to help with the creation of the other rooms. This review is solely based on our experience as beta testers as the room was still in process. It does not reflect the finished product or how they are going to improve it. We really enjoyed the set design in the beginning and the storyline. As we progressed, there were issues obviously with the tech part and it lasted more than two hours. We also realized that the ventilation was not great in the rest of the rooms as it got quite warm while we waited. If you are claustrophobic, then this room might not be the one for you. There's one particular area you'll need to spend a good amount of time in, but hopefully they make some updates. It seems as if this room did need a bit of knowledge of Russian history. Although both rooms were "5-Gen High-Tech" rooms, we felt that "The Tomb" was much more well designed and had a clearer storyline. *** We regret to inform you that this company has closed its doors *** Disclosure : We thank Escapeburg for inviting us to beta test the game. LOCATION : Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Photo above is property of ESCAPEability Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Escape From Mars π DATE PLAYED : November 14, 2023 π¬ GENRE : Sci-Fi π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 5.5/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-8 ppl π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins π° PRICE : $39.00/ pp βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Private π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY You and a team of brave explorers were forced to make an emergency landing on Mars. The worst part of it all, is that there's a solar storm heading directly towards you! Will you be able to repair the ship and bring your team safely back to Earth in time? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE There was a cool way for us to "open" and "enter" the initial area. The props and set design went well with the theme of the game. The transformation of the set design from one room to another was quite a big contrast. One moment you were on Earth, then all of a sudden you're on Mars, and then...(you'll need to find out on your own). Other than logic puzzles, we also enjoyed the fun little physical puzzle that we had to maneuver. The finale mechanism that brought us home was a nice surprise. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK One prop that we had to activate had a specific way we had to input a sequence. We were also unclear about where to input the sequence. This needs to be more clear. In the latter part of the game, we weren't sure of the functionality of certain buttons as they weren't lit. It would be great if they could light up. Or else we will think they are just props. One of the items we acquired towards the end should be placed in something a bit more prominent rather than just on the floor since it was an important item that we needed to bring us home. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? The set design and lighting for this room were a big improvement from the other rooms at this location. The game felt like it was going through a story and each room was the next chapter. The game also had a conclusive ending that made us feel like we've completed our mission. We look forward to seeing Escapeability's new room and where they are heading in the future! LOCATION : Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Photo above is property of ESCAPEability Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Pompeii π DATE PLAYED : November 14, 2023 π¬ GENRE : Adventure π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 4.5/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-8 ppl π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins π° PRICE : $39.00/ pp βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Private π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY Today is the day of the eruption of Pompeii. You are still locked up in your cell as gladiators and have no idea what's going on in the outside world. Hopefully, you'll be able to escape, head to the dock, and sail away in the last ship! Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE "Divide and Conquer" is always a type of gameplay that we enjoy. You will be able to start in separate cells in this game and will need to help one other in order to free yourselves from the prison cells. In comparison to the simple designs of the previous rooms, a lot more detail was put into the making of the final room. It was a nice way to "escape". 𧩠MISSED THE MARK The set design didn't really have an ancient city feel. We are still unsure what the transitional second room is supposed to resemble. Perhaps dimmer lighting could also help with the ambiance. There should be an added clue or storyline for the first puzzle. Currently, it feels like a "trial and error" scenario. Some props need maintenance as a few mag locks didn't function correctly. We actually thought some of the broken props were done on purpose for a puzzle but they weren't. So this eventually became red herrings in the room. There was a puzzle that required a good amount of items to be counted but the props didn't feel "significant" enough to be used in that way. We were surprised when we got the right answer. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? This room is probably their oldest room at this location. When compared to their other rooms, the puzzles were easier and the props and set design were more run down. This room could use some revamping to catch up with the industry standards. If you are new to escape rooms, perhaps this is a good warm-up room for you. If you are looking for more of a challenge, they do have three other themes for you to try out at this location! LOCATION : Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Photo above is property of ESCAPEability Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Casino Takeover π DATE PLAYED : November 14, 2023 π¬ GENRE : Heist π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 6/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-20 ppl (Duplicate Room available) π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins π° PRICE : $39.00/ pp βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Private π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY Your mission is to infiltrate Bugsy Siegel's casino and go through his tests to win the ultimate prize. But are you the only one in this competition? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE There are a lot of mini-puzzles and multi-step puzzles in this room that allowed us to "divide and conquer". We also had chances to work on puzzles together. This is a great setup for competition mode. The set design was full of fun "games" that you would see at a typical casino. I only wish that some of these could actually function versus just a standstill prop. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK There was a puzzle at the beginning that had multiple clues printed on the same prop. This confused us as we weren't sure which clue to use for which puzzle. Some clue or prop could be hidden until later on to resolve this issue. The ending seemed to be missing with the "non-competitive" mode. We opened the door with the last puzzle but didn't really have a victory feeling. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? This game has two identical rooms split by a transparent window. The game can hold up to 20 people so it's definitely a team-building type of game. We played the game together as one but feel like the competition mode would be more fun and more exciting. If you play in one room, you actually don't get to play a final challenge (you and your team might come neck to neck to fight for the right key to get out). In addition, this game also contained a good amount of Math and Logic problems. So make sure to pick the right teammates and hopefully your team will be the one to bring in that big prize! LOCATION : Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Photo above is property of ESCAPEability Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Cabin in the W oods - The Unknown Part 1 π DATE PLAYED : November 14, 2023 π¬ GENRE : Thriller π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 5.5/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-8 ppl π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins π° PRICE : $39.00/ pp βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Private π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY You've been assigned a difficult mission as rookie detectives. You are to investigate a cabin believed to be the "Dollmaker"'s lair. Once you step in, the door locks behind you. Can you escape in time before becoming the next victim? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE We felt the eerie vibe of the cabin right when we entered. Above the dim-lit fireplace, there were all missing person's posters. We instantly felt shivers down our spines. The puzzles were creative in that they used various information and props from the theme of the game. There was one prop that we saw used with a directional lock that we haven't seen used in other escape rooms before. Puzzle solvers would love this room since there's a lot of mystery to be cracked and locks to be opened. Majority of the time, this game was linear. The puzzles had a nice flow throughout the game. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK Some props need a restoration. A better cluing system could be implemented where GM could become a character in the story instead. This will help maintain the immersion. The clue for one of the puzzles was confusing as the answer had more parts than the clues given. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? This room was a collaboration project between the GM and the owner. We really enjoy rooms like this as you will be able to feel the creativity from different mindsets. It also makes the GM able to give better hints since they designed the game. This room was also the most "complete" room in terms of connecting a storyline to the theme. Although the ciphers used in this room are fairly common to enthusiasts, beginners might find this room challenging. So play this room last and use the other rooms in this location as warm-ups. One suggestion we have for this room is that it could use a bit more jump scare or at least voice/sound to have the players feel like a killer is watching somewhere...With that said, we can't wait to see what part II would be like! - Amazing Escape Room (formerly Escape Trappe) - "Spellcaster"
LOCATION: Trappe, Pennsylvania, USA Photos/ Videos are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Spellcaster π DATE PLAYED : December 1, 2019 π¬ GENRE : Magic, Fantasy, Mythical π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 6/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : Up To 10 ppl π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins π° PRICE : $28.00/ pp βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Public π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY We were a group of wizards in training and our mission was to find the Sacred Crystal of the Ancients from the evil sorcerer βDark Ravenβs" chamber. We have to return it to the rightful owner. If we donβt do this in time, βDark Ravenβ will extinguish the sun and the world will enter eternal darknessβ¦ π― HIT THE BULLSEYE βDark Ravenβ βs chamber really suits the wizardβs name. The entire room was designed with pitch black background. This added to the ambience of a dungeon feel. Moreover, it amplified the special lighting effects when they were revealed. We liked all the βmagicalβ feel of the props used in each puzzle. All of them felt like they belonged in a wizardβs realm. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK We donβt mind the usage of trick locks, but we thought one was enough as normally they are considered as βtime consuming puzzlesβ especially when itβs hard for game masters to give clear instructions when the players are stuck. Perhaps an illustrated clue would help. There was no βhintβ as to how to start a particular puzzle in the latter stages. It felt like most players would ask for a clue.Β Even when the answer was revealed to us later, there was really no particular reason why it had to be done that way. There was a bit of a delayed reaction to a certain puzzle. The game master had to tell us to try again another way in order for it to finally operate. Β πΉ TAKE A SHOT? Although the rooms are quite spacious, we felt that there werenβt as many puzzles to accommodate. Our recommended group size for this is 4 people. Youβll enjoy this room if you are a fan of magical and mythical worlds. Finding things was a bit of a challenge in the room since like magicians, black on black is how they trick the human eyes. Test out your wisdom and see if you can keep the world safe from βDark Ravenβ! π HINT Are they in order? Additional Info Lobby with seating area Parking in front Party room available ** Please note : all the games currently at this location were originally owned by Escape Trappe and now acquired by Amazing Escape Room. They are exactly the same. The owners are currently talking about revamping some of the rooms and a new game has already been added! - Puzzle Out Room - "Grand Theft Jer$ey City"
LOCATION: Jersey City, New Jersey, USA Photos are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Grand Theft Jer$ey City π DATE PLAYED : September 14, 2018 π¬ GENRE : Heist π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 4 ppl) : 8/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : Up To 20 ppl π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins π° PRICE : $32.00/ pp βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Public π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : No This escape room is located one flight up and there are no elevators. There's a waiting area with plenty of seats when you first arrive, but not much decor except for photos of the past players. We've played a similar themed room - "Ultimate Heist" at "Clue Chase" in NYC. In comparison, this one wasn't as enjoyable. We brought another couple with us to try out this room, but we weren't as immersed as the other room. It's pretty much just a room full of different types of puzzles to solve. This is definitely more fun with a lot of people since everyone could tackle a puzzle being that they aren't linear at all. We were too involved in solving the puzzles and robbing the money that we forgot to leave time to actually escape at the end. This is why we ultimately failed. So be sure to keep that in mind during your gameplay. We did notice that a lot of the puzzles felt worn out and there was one puzzle where you clearly can see where the answer was because it's been placed there numerous times. The concept was a lot of fun, but hopefully they can revamp the room for for future players. *** We regret to inform this company has closed its doors *** #review #escaperooms #escape #rooms #games #puzzleoutroom #grandtheftjerseycity #grandtheft #heist #newjersey #jerseycity #nj
