You and your teammates just checked into Hotel Hijinks. This hotel seems to be full of amenities to explore on like a casino, an arcade, a puzzle hunt, and more! Will you be able to solve the mysteries as a team before time runs out?

🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈

This is a brand new concept of game design in Telescape that we haven't seen before. Created by Mystery Mansion Regina in collaboration with Help Us Escape, this is a fun point-n-click adventure you can play cooperatively as a team or competitively as multiple teams of up to three.

We tried the game in both the cooperative and competitive style. Both style of the game will start off in a beautiful, grand hotel lobby with a massive check-in desk. Each team will check-in here by creating a team name and receiving a room key. For the cooperative game, we were able to travel to each floor via different elevators and it really felt like we're playing a video game. In this mode, you can enjoy the hotel in a leisurely way. All the teammates can travel to the same locations at the same time so they don't miss out on any puzzles. If you're playing in competition mode, you might have to split up and each take on a different path.

At the beginning, you may only have limited areas to explore but once you start to solve puzzles and receive various items in your inventory, you'll be able to open up more secret portals. Besides the main game, there's also a bonus mini game, a puzzle hunt and many arcade games to interact with. Everyone will definitely have something to do.

🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂

No matter which style of play you decide to try, the amount of the puzzles will be the same. We loved the embedded puzzles in various scenery changes from a casino to art gallery to luxury hotel rooms. It felt like many different mini games all combined together to form a virtual puzzle hotel. Although we really loved the concept of building the puzzles within the virtual TV screens instead of having a separate pop up video, the Telescape system can still experience glitches sometimes. If this does happen, just close out of the browser and reenter again.

The game was very easy to follow in terms of the operation side. Besides point-n-click, everything else you need will be in the inventory. Once you used a certain item, it'll disappear from there. The main game is more linear but since there are the added bonus elements of the mini game, puzzle hunt and arcade games, teams will be able to split up to complete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in those different segments. You'll actually be able to check the status of of the other teams during the game. If you're stuck, there are build-in hints and solutions.

This game concentrates less on narrative but more on puzzles and pure FUN! Even if you have completed all the game components, you might still be sucked into playing the arcade and casino games for awhile. Since you have a full 3 days to enjoy the hotel stay after check-in, you can decide when you want the fun to end.

Mystery Mansion Regina will be hosting weekly competitive events where up to 12 teams can sign up and face off against each other. Teams will be timed and the use of hints will add a time penalty, so that scores can be accurately tracked. The first tournament will be on July 11th at 12PM MDT. If you like to play the non competitive way, the individual game tickets will be available starting July 12th. I wonder what the prize will be for first place. But I'm pretty sure for some of our competitive friends out there bragging rights is all they need! By the way, this is just Ep #1. I can't wait for rest of the trilogy!
