👀 THE EXPERIENCE

As one of the self-proclaimed premier haunted attraction in Los Angeles, the Haunted Hayride seeks to scare your pants off at Midnight Falls, a fictional small town set in the 50s where spooks, ghouls and nightmares come to visit for the evening. There are plenty of activities for all who are brave enough to venture forth. In this area, three haunted houses and the titular haunted hayride all seek to provide a terrifyingly fun visit. Check out what happens when crazy clowns take over a meat packing company in the (S)Laughterhouse. Quake in fear as you tour the towns dead in the Midnight Mortuary. Relive your childhood years with more murderous intentions in Trick or Treat, where tricks are far more common than treats. Finally take a tour around the block in a large tractor covered in hay, a ride you won’t soon forget in the Haunted Hayride.

In addition to the haunted houses that one can experience during a trip to Los Angeles Haunted Hayride, there are also plenty of other less intense things to do. Food trucks and vendors are set up in an area off to the side for patrons to purchase and snack upon. The main center piece in the town is a large stage that hosts a live band each and every night. They perform covers of popular spooky tunes and inspirational songs based on classic horror films, they are set to rock your socks off.

The are four ticket levels, Haunted Hayride allows one time into the singular attraction, General Admission allows a single venture into each of the haunted houses and hayride. The next level is a VIP pass that allows a skip the line upgrade for all of the above activities and platinum pass allows an even shorter line and unlimited admission into the haunted houses. Visiting Midnight Falls is complementary and the scares start as soon as you pass through the pumpkin archway.

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

  • The atmosphere is wonderful and they did a great job making Midnight Falls feel like a proper small town. There is a radio station being broadcast throughout the evening giving halloween jokes and commentary on events going on through the night as one would expect to hear live during such an event. The actors do a great job as well staying in character and acting as the residents.

  • One could tell that everyone around was having a great time and having that positive energy permeated through the crowd. The band kept a party-like atmosphere going for the duration of the night.

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

  • The haunted houses, while unique and enjoyable to walk though, felt lacking and were short in duration. There were large amounts of blank space and walking with no effects or actors. Every year this haunt is set up near Griffith Park and because it is a temporary venue, the quality of the set pieces are quite similar to each other

  • The Haunted Hayride was a disappointment. As the titular attraction of the event, you could tell a lot of effort went into its production. The unfortunate part is scares don’t land and there is no cohesive story for one to follow or get invested in. Each portion of the hayride takes you to a small scene where one or two actors come up to the tractor and scream in your face. Wash, rinse and repeat for fifteen minutes.

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

"Los Angeles Haunted Hayride" is a Halloween Party. One filled with scares and live entertainment aplenty. The atmosphere radiates the feeling of an old 1950’s horror film but doesn’t deliver on the scares as one would expect. The venue is well equipped to handle a large number of people and with the influx of patrons all looking for their scares before All Hallow’s Eve, the lines will get long, the earlier you arrive the less crowded and more enjoyable the experience. For those who are looking for a fun night out with some mild scares check out this large event.
