  • Enigmania - "Lockdown"

Video/ Photos have been provided by Enigmania Company: Enigmania Game: Lockdown Country: Germany πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺ Language: English/ German/ French Type of Game: Digital Game πŸ’» Genre: Murder Mystery Date Played: May 14, 2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 7/10 Size of Team: No Limit. Recommend size 2-4 people. Time: No Time Limit. We finished in about an hour. Price: €30.00 I wouldn't call this an escape game since the end goal was to solve a murder mystery with no time limitations and no locks to "unlocking". Throughout the game we felt like real detectives going through different types of files like alibi, autopsy report, emails etc...The story line was quite intriguing and it just got even "juicer" as it developed (Perhaps even a little rated R?). Make sure you are familiar with the common social media platforms for the searching. There were a lot of detailed contents that you have to pick out from reading so make sure you love to read! Are you ready detective? (If you do decide to try this game, please remember to let them know that you heard it from"ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) • Audivio Studios - "Pentargo: Quarantine"

Photo have been provided by Audivio Studios Company: Audivio Studios Game: Pentargo: Quarantine Country: Spain πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ Language: English, Spanish Type of Game: Digital Escape Game πŸ’» Genre: Detective Date Played: 5/6/20 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 7/10 Size of Team: Unlimited Time: Unlimited Price: $2.50 (1 Player) $5.00 (2 Players) $7.50 (3 Players) $10.00 (4 Players) $12.50 (5 Players) "Quarantine" was a "text-led" digital game. You can play anytime after you download it. The story started with the disappearance of JonΓ s Colomes, a famous epidemiologist. At the time, he was advising the government on possible outbreaks of viruses and bacteria. His sister Anna Colomes decided to follow the trails and find her missing brother. I'm a big fan of CSI so this was definitely my type of game. The conversation between Anna was pretty smooth as she took various answers and responded reasonably. The puzzles required some website searching which made us feel like real detectives on a case. It would've been helpful for Anna to give us at least how many letters or numbers were needed for the solution as there were times we were unsure how we would be able to know to input the entire answer or partial. Even though the game was translated to English, there was a puzzle that involved you to know Spanish. It was confusing for us as some of the English translation for that puzzle was not a direct translation to Spanish. The puzzles were definitely challenging and we actually learned a type of puzzle that we've never encountered before. This game kept us entertained for more than an hour. If you are up for a challenge and not looking to break your bank, give this game a try! *** We regret to inform this company has closed its doors *** Disclosure: We thank Audivio Studios for providing us with a sample of the game. • Escape Proving Ground - "Escape the Web"

Photos provided by Escape Proving Ground Company: Escape Proving Ground Game: Escape The Web Country: USA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Language: English Type of Game: Digital Puzzle Game (W/ GM) πŸ’» Genre: Spy, Mystery Date Played: 5/5/2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 6.5/10 Size of Team: 1-10 players Time: 60 Minutes Price: $19.99/Household (may be joined by other households) $99.99/Private Game This Audio Escape Game experience is really a hybrid of DIY Escape Game since you'll be needing a printer (although it's only a few pages). You still have to book a set time and date and the game master will be hosting your entire game. There's an intro video followed by mostly online search and find puzzles. Your computer must be set to allow Flash and be able to open PDF files. We really enjoyed the concept of following the trail in these spy inspired themes. We successfully acquired the mole and the name of the shadowy organization with 4 minutes left! If the game master could be a bit more interactive and in character rather than just a clue giver, it would make the game more immersive. There was a surprising twist in the ending that really put a smile on our faces! P.S. They also have a FREE online puzzle for you to try! *** We regret to inform this game is no longer available for purchasing but check out other in-person escape rooms on their website*** Disclosure: We thank Escape Proving Ground for providing us with a sample of the game. Video/Photos provided by Bewilder Box + Eltham Escape Rooms Company: Bewilder Box Escape Room in partnership with Eltham Escape Rooms Game: B.R.U.C.E. Saves Christmas Country: United Kingdom πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Language: English Type of Game: Digital Escape Game πŸ’» Genre: Fantasy, Christmas Date Played: 12/8/20 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 5/10 Size of Team: Up to 6pp Time: Approx. 60-90 mins Price: €19.99/Team πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ†‚πŸ†ƒπŸ…ΎπŸ†πŸ†ˆ Someone has kidnapped Santa! Find out who's the evil culprit behind this operation and save Santa before its too late! πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΆπŸ…°πŸ…ΌπŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ…»πŸ…°πŸ†ˆ This is an online "point-n-click" type of game. Once you've assembled your entire team, the "head elf" will be able to start the game. This game is synchronized so if your teammate solves something or picks something up, everyone will be able to see it at the same time. We played the game as a team of two and had so much fun. There were pre-recorded video elements by live actors, buttons to click to give your teammates virtual high fives, and beautiful graphics that makes you feel like you've entered a magical winter wonderland. The timer will start to countdown when you start the game so make sure to keep an eye on it and use the hint system if you get stuck on a puzzle for too long. The ultimate goal is to identify the culprit through clues you've gained as you solved individual puzzles. We really enjoyed piecing together clues from different puzzles we've solved together as a team in order to crack the case. πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ†„πŸ†‰πŸ†‰πŸ…»πŸ…΄πŸ†‚ The puzzles were non-linear and worked perfectly with this type of cooperative play. I was solving something on the first screen while Brandon was roaming around collecting clues on another. We were then able to bring all the clues we've collected together for the final reveal. This also gave opportunities for one player to give another perspective on something another player might have missed or couldn't solve. All the puzzles embedded an element of Christmas in it which made the game feel really festive. I especially enjoyed one of the audio puzzles as it made me sing along with it. If you're not the puzzle solving kind, this game also will provide you with other ways of entertainment. You can be the "cheesy joke" operator or the mince pies collector. There's something for everyone! πŸ…²πŸ…»πŸ…ΎπŸ†‚πŸ…ΈπŸ…½πŸ…Ά πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…ΎπŸ†„πŸ…ΆπŸ…·πŸ†ƒπŸ†‚ This game really bought out the holiday spirits! Since Christmas is my favorite holiday of the year, this game was right up my alley. I loved the vibrant colors on the illustrations, the silly jokes, and the cheerful moments we enjoyed as team when we solved a puzzle together. Christmas is about being together with your loved ones to share the joyful moments with each other and this game did just that! If you have kids (7-10 yrs old) , the creators generously provided a FREE print at home mini escape room game for them! • LockedInHome - "Jurassic Escape"

Photo above is property of LockedInHome Company: LockedInHome Game: Jurassic Escape Country: Hungary πŸ‡πŸ‡Ί Language: English, Hungarian Type of Game: Digital Escape Game (Point-N-Click) πŸ’» Genre: Adventure Date Played: December 18, 2022 Difficulty (based on 6 players): 4/10 Size of Team: 2+ Time: 60 Minutes Price: €15 πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ†‚πŸ†ƒπŸ…ΎπŸ†πŸ†ˆ Working at a park that houses man eating dinosaurs sounds like it should have really good back up security…until a crazy storm takes out the power. The generator thankfully survived but with a battery power of only 60 minutes you need to work fast to get the electricity back up and running before it’s too late…especially with that T-Rex looking hungrily at you. πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΆπŸ…°πŸ…ΌπŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ…»πŸ…°πŸ†ˆ The game provides a little written introduction to the game before you are placed into a Telescape-like space with 360 degree views of the room. Each player can access the game using the login link from your confirmation email but you will all have individual games running, which means when one person advances, the others will not until they also solve the puzzle. The room contains number locks, key pads, and chests that need unlocking to move forward. You can zoom in to inspect things closer and add items to your inventory to use for later. This game also contains audio clues so make sure your sound is on. There is a hint system but, unfortunately it was not in English, so we were able to use it. We also found some of the game did have issues with translating to English and handling items being moved around which required a restart for one player. Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ†„πŸ†‰πŸ†‰πŸ…»πŸ…΄πŸ†‚ The puzzles in this game had a good variety of logic, pattern recognition, decoding, and more. There were some fun little nods to the original Jurassic Park and dinosaurs in general but you don’t need any knowledge to complete the puzzles. A keen eye and ear is really all you need to solve these games. A couple puzzles didn’t feel like puzzles, more like activities which makes me consider this a game for more novice players to break off the game. I also felt the ending was a little lacklustre as a puzzle. That said, I found the locked pads and boxes to be fun and give me a little β€˜aha’ when I clued in exactly what I needed to find. πŸ…²πŸ…»πŸ…ΎπŸ†‚πŸ…ΈπŸ…½πŸ…Ά πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…ΎπŸ†„πŸ…ΆπŸ…·πŸ†ƒπŸ†‚ "Jurassic Escape" provides a quick and straightforward puzzling experience for players looking to relax or for new players looking to test the waters. If you’re someone who likes little dinosaur easter eggs with some traditional puzzling, this is a game to check out! *** We regret to inform this company has closed its doors *** Disclosure: We thank LockedInHomeΒ for providing us with samples of the game. • LockedInHome - "The Big Heist"

Photo above is property of LockedInHome Company: LockedInHome Game: The Big Heist Country: Hungary πŸ‡πŸ‡Ί Language: English, Hungarian Type of Game: Digital Escape Game πŸ’» Genre: Mystery, Heist Date Played: December 17, 2022 Difficulty (based on 4 players): 8/10 Size of Team: Unlimited Time: Approximately 90 Minutes Price: €11.99 πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ†‚πŸ†ƒπŸ…ΎπŸ†πŸ†ˆ As an up-and-coming informant under the leadership of the Professor, it is your job to gain his trust and gather intelligence on how to proceed during the next case. Explore the streets, gather documentation, and piece together the information in this money heist AR case. However, with the number of tabs and various chatbots used during the game, the story ended up becoming muddled, and by the end of the game, our team wasn't quite sure if we were on the side of good or bad. πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΆπŸ…°πŸ…ΌπŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ…»πŸ…°πŸ†ˆ The game mainly takes place using a chatbot feature. You will receive information based on the correct answers given to the group by various informants you will meet during the case. There are also multiple websites and links for you and your team to follow that will reveal secrets that might be hidden in plain sight. It was all made using an in house interface that follows nearly the same format as games previously (link to Relive moments and collect infinity stones review) πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ†„πŸ†‰πŸ†‰πŸ…»πŸ…΄πŸ†‚ This is a game of observation and logical deduction that will lead you to complete your goals. If you provide a couple of incorrect answers, the game will then direct you to a hint page to help you piece together the solutions needed. However, the hints given in this game were hit or miss, depending on where you were in the puzzle-solving process. It is also worth noting that at least one member of your team will need a Facebook and email account. Photos above are property of LockedInHome πŸ…²πŸ…»πŸ…ΎπŸ†‚πŸ…ΈπŸ…½πŸ…Ά πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…ΎπŸ†„πŸ…ΆπŸ…·πŸ†ƒπŸ†‚ "The Big Heist" was a game that did not deliver on its promise of being an action-filled, adrenaline-fueled game that kept players on the edge of their seats while solving puzzles under pressure. Most of the time, the group had trouble trying to figure out what the game was asking of us, and sometimes how to input the answers. With multiple tabs and chatbots active, participating in the story felt more like an exercise in browser management than engaging with puzzles. While there were a few clever moments in the game, there weren't enough to recommend this experience. *** We regret to inform this company has closed its doors *** Disclosure: We thank LockedInHomeΒ for providing us with samples of the game. • Bewilder Box Escape Room/Eltham Escape Rooms - Sector X: The B.R.U.C.E. Project

Video/Photos provided by Bewilder Box + Eltham Escape Rooms Company: Bewilder Box Escape Room in partnership with Eltham Escape Rooms Game: Sector X: The B.R.U.C.E. Project Country: United Kingdom πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Language: English Type of Game: Digital Escape Game πŸ’» Genre: Sci-Fi Date Played: 4/26/20 Difficulty (based on 3 players): 6.5/10 Size of Team: 1-6pp (Suggested size 2-3pp) Time: Unlimited (Key works for 24 hours) Price: €15.00/Team Love robot jokes? This game had plenty! I love it when humor could be added to a puzzle game as it definitely eases the tension between the teammates during puzzle solving. There is a timer on the top of the screen and you'll get a score at the end based on if you used hints or not. You can also play at your own leisure and not be in a competitive mode. This was the first time we've seen a point and click escape game that allowed multiple players to be able to join in and click on different items at the same time. When we started the game there were just the two of us. We felt great using the mouse to explore different areas and piecing information together for a solution. When we had another player join in, it got really confusing as we were working on a puzzle at the time and by them clicking around we lost our spot. Our advise is to start the game at the same time and inform your group if they are going to be late that they should not click around when they enter as they could mess up the progress of the game. There were one or two puzzles that we had to designate one person to do all the clicking as it became counterproductive when we all tried to do it at the same time. We loved the theme and graphics of this game. Looking forward to Chapter 2 having more puzzle designs that will allow individual players to separately work on some puzzles (maybe in different rooms in the sector?) and then joining the pieces together with the group at the end. This game has great potential for team work and communication. *** We regret to inform this game is no longer available for purchase *** (If you do decide to try this experience, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) Along the way, they will uncover the story of how the station came to be controlled by this AI and the role that they will play in humanity's future. Video above is property of Bewilder Box Escape Room 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The set design in Judgement D.A.V.E. was truly excellent, creating a fully immersive and realistic experience for players. As we navigated through the game, it genuinely felt like we were on a spaceship with all of the bits and bobs one would come to expect.. The attention to detail was impressive, with every element carefully crafted to transport us into the world of the game. From the futuristic control panels to the sleek and high-tech corridors, everything felt authentic and believable. The lighthearted tone of the room. was a standout feature that helped to keep the atmosphere fun and enjoyable throughout. Despite dealing with some potentially heavy themes, the game managed to maintain a sense of levity that made it accessible and enjoyable for players of all ages. This lighthearted tone was achieved through clever writing and the incorporation of humor. One of the standout aspects of Judgement D.A.V.E. was the dedication and performance of the game masters, while not present in the room, they truly gave it their all and were able to bring the story and characters to life in a way that was both engaging and enjoyable for players 🧩 MISSED THE MARK While the narrator was suitable in most parts of the game, at times it felt as though we were trying to solve puzzles while important audio that was necessary later on was playing in the background. This made it difficult to focus on both the puzzles and the story bits that were added into the game. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? "Judgement D.A.V.E." was an exciting and immersive escape room experience with top-notch set design, a fun and lighthearted tone, and dedicated actors who brought the story and characters to life. The attention to detail in the set design was impressive, with every element carefully crafted to transport players into the world of the game. The lighthearted tone of the game was a standout feature that helped to keep the atmosphere fun and enjoyable throughout. The game masters were also a highlight of the experience, bringing energy and enthusiasm to their performances. While there were moments where the audio detracted from the puzzle-solving experience, overall it was an enjoyable and memorable game that left a lasting impression on players. Agency is creating a hi-tech energy source that will power everything. We are here to assist! This is a digital escape game where you'll play on a PC or laptop for best experience. We didn't put this game under the DIY category although you might have to print a few pages if you can't "eyeball" this one puzzle. The flow of the game was clear and very easy to follow. The usage of surveillance cameras and stock photos of things we needed to trace really made us feel like detectives. We also liked the use of the different tabs to separate the puzzle categories. These eventually led to a meta puzzle. The experience felt like we're playing in a real escape room where relating clues would be compiled together to unlock a particular lock. The game came with clear instructions for simple navigation and ran smoothly throughout the game. "SIGN" was designed using Unity in 2022 and felt easy to navigate, with the sound effects and the animation. What stood out to me was the general 3D environment of the game and the sleek simple look of it. Items also had an optioned to be viewed in 3D, so I could examine them more closely and could combine them if needed. Photo above is property of Escape Reading πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΆπŸ…°πŸ…ΌπŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ…»πŸ…°πŸ†ˆ The game is presented as a point-and-click game that runs in your internet browser. Escape Reading recommends playing this on a desktop computer, which I agree with. The game boasts a charming narrative that piqued my interest with fairly straightforward gameplay. I particularly loved the cluttered look of the pictures used in the game. They were not distracting but made sense when I needed to search for something. Key items were also glowing, which greatly helped me progress through the game. Some of the inputs were slick as well, mimicking how you would interact with them in real life. The game suggests using pen and paper, creativity, and logic/good memory to play, all of which I had to utilize. Pen and paper, or a screenshot tool, made my life easier when playing this game. Even then, there was one puzzle that I wish provided more explanation on how to get to the solution. πŸ…²πŸ…»πŸ…ΎπŸ†‚πŸ…ΈπŸ…½πŸ…Ά πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…ΎπŸ†„πŸ…ΆπŸ…·πŸ†ƒπŸ†‚ This was a fun, quick hit game. The puzzles were solid and the right amount of difficultly without being too frustrating. Though this game is offered for free, you can give a donation to the Escape Reading at the end. This game took me about a half hour on my own to play through on my own. Definitely worth the play if you are looking for something short to satisfy the puzzle itch. Photo above is property of Teamescape.games Company: Teamescape.games Game: A treasure in Egypt Country: USA πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Language: English Type of Game: Digital Escape Game πŸ’» Genre: Egyptian Adventure Date Played: March 25, 2023 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 6/10 Size of Team: 2 Players Time: 30 Minutes Price: Free πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ†‚πŸ†ƒπŸ…ΎπŸ†πŸ†ˆ You and your friend are archeologists in search of treasure and adventure. One of you is hefty and strong while the other is slight and agile. You make a great team and are both passionate about the study of ancient Egypt. Ancient scrolls and local legends tell you that the pyramid you are exploring contains a secret chamber! Can you find the secret room and the relics and treasures that lie within? Photo above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΆπŸ…°πŸ…ΌπŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ…»πŸ…°πŸ†ˆ β€œA treasure in Egypt” is a short demo game that is free to play. It’s presented as the first chapter of a longer game that is not yet available. The game is played online and is designed for two people. Starting the game is easy. The first player simply shares a code so the second player can join the same game. Each player picks a character, Jack or Lili, then enters the game. You’ll need to also connect via online meeting or phone (zoom or whatever) so you can talk to each other. Hints are always available for whatever puzzles you are currently working on. The phrasings in some of the hints are unclear and the explanations of the solutions aren’t enlightening, but the hint system might give you a shove in the right direction if you get stuck. The game is set in a couple of rooms within an Egyptian pyramid. The visuals are presented in a cartoonish style and are cute and inviting. We encountered a technical issue while playing that impeded our progress. A mechanism in one of the puzzles didn’t work for one of our players, possibly due to a platform or browser incompatibility. Photo above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ†„πŸ†‰πŸ†‰πŸ…»πŸ…΄πŸ†‚ The structure of the game play requires the two players to work together because each player has access to different areas and different parts of the puzzles. There are three main puzzles to solve in β€œA Treasure in Egypt”—an audio puzzle, a collaborative maze, and a pattern identification puzzle. All three puzzles feature a set of hieroglyphics and are input into the same lock. The reuse of the hieroglyphics makes it difficult to determine which elements go into each puzzle as you explore the game space, and some of the hieroglyphic representations are hard to distinguish from one another. Time is running out, and she desperately needs you to break into her co-workers computer account, to ensure that the newest update to their social media companies site - Sincere Screen - goes off without a hitch. She thinks we can locate the files, it's just that they are buried in a maze of the digital personal effects of her co-workers charmed young adult life. πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΆπŸ…°πŸ…ΌπŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ…»πŸ…°πŸ†ˆ "Break the Internet" is a multiplayer point-n-click online escape room game, created in the Telescape platform. Up to 8 players can work together simultaneously navigating and engaging with the game. We were able to coordinate and work through the game pretty smoothly, each going in our own directions while simultaneously working on their own little bit. There was enough content to keep us all busy and working in our own directions. After watching a phone video of a desperate Styriam, you are left to break into her co-workers computer. The interface was very realistic and had a throwback vibe to the Windows 95 of yore. Going through her affects and searching for clues to go deeper into her files was like entering someone's mind, or their diary, which was in this case created by an identifiably young, precocious, bubbly, whimsical, paint the world positive, type of person. It was all steeped in a visual explosion of colors and fantastic imagery and literature, alongside the mundane data of her day to day life. They did a great job representing the fragments of her personal inner world, and made the process of guessing her passwords a revelation from out of the things she held dearest. The puzzles were perfectly layered, with several levels forming together with congruency of a well fitted jigsaw puzzle. It also had a fun nostalgic, retro, tinge, an aesthetic obviously inspired by easily recognizable young adult tropes. It was well directed and never frustrating, though sufficiently challenging. πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ†„πŸ†‰πŸ†‰πŸ…»πŸ…΄πŸ†‚ Overall, the puzzles were well designed, often having several levels of conceptual depth, to be peeled back in layers like an onion. You were simultaneously challenged to identify the overarching scheme as you solved and place the individual puzzle pieces within it. There was a good variety of puzzles, from physical manipulation, to visual puzzles, to games, riddles, and more classic escape room fare. It wasn't always the most difficult, nor the most ingenious, but it worked well. They did a really good job of coding the solution within the manipulation and solution of some of the puzzles as well, which I thought was pretty neat. And it was all so cute and fun and on theme. I can say we had a pretty lively time as we worked through the game. πŸ…²πŸ…»πŸ…ΎπŸ†‚πŸ…ΈπŸ…½πŸ…Ά πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…ΎπŸ†„πŸ…ΆπŸ…·πŸ†ƒπŸ†‚ It must be a lot of fun to be part of a university club that designs escape rooms. This one really felt like a labor of love, and you could really feel that the game was a production born out of many minds, each lending their own unique genius and touch. I think the team did a great job, and really showed depth and learning in the design of the game. It was perfectly layered, consistently structured, and well directed. There was enough for all of us to roam about and stay busy with, but also enough direction and organization to keep us collectively on point. The theme and aesthetic felt unified, visually interesting, and realistic. The puzzles were interesting, varied, and well embedded and coded into the material. Overall the game was cute, clever, and fun. And somebody please get Styriam an agent, quick! All this being said though, they did a lot with the medium, the game was still a brief and straightforward affair, interesting and engaging but still dramatically slight. It was over all too quickly and left me wanting more, which is not the worst thing to be said. In terms of difficulty, for a gang of adept puzzlers like ourselves you could probably cut through this one pretty quick. But I think for the average group it was just right, and you are likely to at least get a good hour-ish of quality adventure time. The price is certainly right, and it may be snack size but it's worth the bite. I'm really excited to see how the group will outdo themselves next time. I think these kids could really push the envelope. I'm expecting them to really wow me. Who knows, one day they may just break the internet for real.
