- Juan Pelotas Team - "The Lemon Tree", "The Attic", "Pirate Treasure"
Videos/ Photos provided by Juan Pelotas Team Company: Juan Pelotas Country: Argentina π¦π· Language: English, Spanish Type of Game: Digital Escape Game π» Price:Β Β Free Game: The Lemon Tree Genre: Sci-Fi Date Played: 10/12/2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 6.5/10 Size of Team: Unlimited Time: Unlimited During the planting of a lemon tree, you discovered a old rusty metal box. Inside the box, there's a website address. How is it possible that within something this old there's a note regarding present day technology? We are ready to discover further. The format of the puzzles were all either in text or jpg. Once you figure out the answer you can enter it on the website in order to move forward to the next puzzle. You'll definitely encounter times when you'll need present day technology like emailing, Googling and QR code scanning. If you get stuck, there are hints that'll help you along. The puzzles were quite different in terms of concept from the ones we've played before. Some were actually quite challenging. One puzzle was quite a stretch for us mainly because the wording of the question was confusing (perhaps from the translation?). After decoding, we were still unable to corollate that with the solution that they were asking for. Some puzzles might be easier to visualize if you are able to print the pages out. The count down at the end definitely added that urgency feel of an escape room. The twist to the story line also was added finish. It's definitely worth checking it out especially when it's a free game. Game: The Attic Genre: Horror Date Played: 10/12/2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 8/10 Size of Team: Up to 6 devices Time: 60 Minutes In the 1950s, a wealthy family gave birth to a girl whom they named Carolina. Since she was born with issues that was an embarrassment to the family, she was locked up in the attic. Those who dared to enter the attic never came out...Are you up for the challenge? This is a digital point-n-click game. There's an actual countdown clock so your game will end when 60 minutes is up. You'll get a total of 4 hints so use them wisely. We played this game over a video conferencing platform and used it mainly as a communication tool. You can purchase one code and both enter the game at the same time. The game will be synced in the sense that if you entered a password for a lock, it'll open for the other players as well. The graphics and sound were beautifully designed. There were definitely moments of jump scares that got me to scream a little (but you'll probably be fine. I'm just scared of everything). It definitely helped to have a teammate as there were a good amount of areas that needed to be searched and you'll save time by having one teammate try out the passwords when the other tries to solve the puzzles by putting together all the clues that you found during the search. Definitely take notes as you go through the rooms. It'll save you a lot of time (which you'll need since there's a good amount of puzzles to go through) of not having to click back and forth to the same areas. The only thing we thought was confusing was when we tried out the hint system. The wording of some of them were quite hard to understand and we didn't really get to use it to the fullest potential. Also each puzzle had a three tier hint system. If you want to use 3 out of the 4 hints on the same puzzle, make sure to click out of it and then click back in in order to get the next hint. You will not be able to click to get the next hint if you are in the actual puzzle. This game had a lot of similarities to a real escape room and we really enjoyed it. For the price, it's well worth the value. Game: Pirate Treasure Genre: Pirate, Adventure Date Played: 11/16/2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 3.5/10 Size of Team: Unlimited Time: 60 Minutes ARRR! We are on a journey to find the hidden treasure buried by captain Black Cloak. Can we make it out alive? We've always enjoyed Juan's games as they are great with the graphics and the game's operating system never gives us any issues. You are able to log in as a team and play the together over a video conferencing platform. But if you opened a lock, remember to have your other teammates refresh the page to have this change reflect in their game as well. The option to turn on/off the music was brilliant as we found that for games that could be played as a team, it's essential to be able to turn off the music when the team would like to discuss about the puzzles and sometimes the background music could be distractive. This point-n-click adventure felt a lot shorter than the Attic. We took our time and made it out in 20 minutes or so. This is great for beginner puzzlers or kids. There was about 5-6 puzzles. We were surprised when it ended as we wanted to explore more of the island! Hopefully there'll be a sequel! - Chapel Thrill Escapes - "Welcome to The Belltower"
Photos provided by Chapel Thrill Escapes Company: Chapel Thrill Escapes Game: Welcome to The Belltower Country: USA πΊπΈ Language: English Type of Game: Digital Escape Game π» Genre: Mystery Date Played: 11/16/2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 4.5/10 Size of Team: Unlimited Time: Unlimited Price: Free. If need a game master over Zoom then it's $3/pp Chapel Thrill Escapes is the first student-designed, student-built, student-operated non-profit escape room in the US. Their physical location recently closed down due to COVID so they decided to transform this room to a digital version for everyone to play online for FREE to commemorate it. ππ ·π ΄ πππ Ύππ It seems like Dr. Venable was just about to announce to the world regarding his latest discovery when he vanished at the top of the belltower in 1934. Recently, his distant relative contacted you and want you to find out what he's been hiding in his secret study... ππ ·π ΄ π Άπ °π Όπ ΄ π Ώπ »π °π As we entered the doctor's study, we were given a 360 overview of the room. We strongly suggest playing this game on your desktop. Items that are clickable will show up as either magnifying glass, plus sign or exclamation symbol. We're able to closely examine items when we clicked on the magnifying glass (although there were a few times we needed to zoom even more into the photo by enlarging our computer screen), The plus signs bought up items that we needed to unlock or combine and that was designed with the Google Form platform. Please note to write down the answers or take snapshots of the items you've unlocked as you'll need to reenter the code again if you clicked out of the unlocked item. ππ ·π ΄ π Ώππππ »π ΄π The puzzles were probably in the middle range in terms of difficulty but we could see it being simplified to best suit the online version. The association was more clearly pointed out where as if we were there to play it in person, we would have to connect those dots ourselves. There were some cool chemical reactions during the solutions of the puzzles that we would've loved to see in person but they were able to provide the second best alternative: a prerecorded video. For anyone that needs some help, you can find a video guided hint system here. π ²π »π Ύππ Έπ ½π Ά ππ ·π Ύππ Άπ ·ππ For a student project, we're really impressed by the design. Although there were some areas that could be tweaked to provide a smoother play, it was amazing that they're able to provide this as a FREE game option during these times. Photo above is property of by CU Adventures Company: CU Adventures Game: Floor 13 Country: USA πΊπΈ Language: English Type of Game: DIY Escape Kits/ Digital Escape Game π»π¨οΈ Date Played: 10/29/2020 Difficulty (based on 3 players): 6/10 Size of Team: Unlimited (Recommended 2-4) Time: 60-120 mins Price: $10.00 min (Digital Version), $25.00 min (By Mail) ππ ·π ΄ πππ Ύππ We've been trapped in our office building after-hours and stumbled on a hidden floor that we've never knew about before. Floor 13th is full of secrets that we probably shouldn't have unearthed. But it's too late now...Hopefully, we'll make it out alive by using the clues we've gathered. ππ ·π ΄ π Άπ °π Όπ ΄ π Ώπ »π °π If you have played their first game before, this game was designed on the same platform. There's no limit to how many players can log in with the same access code but we recommend 2-4 players for the best experience. The game also came with a PDF file that you'll need to print out to use alongside the digital portal. If you don't have a printer, there are two options: use their "printerless" PDF edition or purchase the "We PrintΒ You Play Edition" and they will mail the documents to your home. Once the leader logs in, the rest of the players' system will be synced together. The leader is the only one that will be able to pick up items, unlock locks, enter passwords and maneuver certain interactive puzzle pieces. This was a great idea since all team members has to agree to move forward and puzzles had to be solved as a collaborative event. Brandon's favorite part was the automated narration element in the game. He loved that someone would read for him and all he had to do was listen. This narration would happen when we proceed onto another puzzle or location in the game. The immersion was done quite well as besides the narrations, you were even able to hear lighting, thunder and other types of sound effects throughout the game. My favorite part of the game was the fact that the inventory system was so easy to follow. It would show us what locks were opened, what was left for us to do, which document we're suppose to be on for this puzzle, etc... Photos above are property of by CU Adventures ππ ·π ΄ π Ώππππ »π ΄π Since the game was designed in a way where the players are able to explore freely throughout the game, we were able to "divide and conquer" in many incidences. But since the leader is the only one that's able to type in the passwords to move on to the next stages, none of our teammates were left in the dark as we always debriefed on the puzzles that was solved and then I entered the password to move on. I have to admit, we did make a fairly big mistake at the beginning as I did not read the instructions clearly and was the only one that was using the "printerless" PDF. The "printerless" PDF essentially assembled all the puzzles together for you which if you had printed the regular PDF file, you would have had to cut and piece together the clue papers in order to see the puzzle reveals. So essentially I skipped a step and was feeling quite good about myself as I was flying through them while my teammates were wondering how I was getting them so quickly. I was also confused at why they are not seeing what I'm seeing. This lasted for more than half of the game until I finally realized that we were looking at different PDFs. So definitely make sure you and your teammates have the right PDF before you proceed. Unless you intentionally want to be the genius of the night...π π ²π »π Ύππ Έπ ½π Ά ππ ·π Ύππ Άπ ·ππ We played this game with our friend Michelle from "Society of Curiosities" and with a team of 3, it really worked well. We each took on different roles for various puzzles that needed teamwork and separated during the times we needed to look for clues in different areas of the game. The puzzles were not extremely difficult but was a lot of fun to venture together as a team. Although the story line and game design was on the eerie side, there were no jump scares whatsoever. Even though I used the easier version of the PDF to complete the game, I'll still proudly take this certificate of completion as it's too good to pass up! πβ Check out our interview with the creators to understand more on the development side of these game (Coming Soon): (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) - CU Adventures - "The Lost Temple"
Photo above is property of CU Adventures Company: CU Adventures Game: The Lost Temple Country: USA πΊπΈ Language: English Type of Game: DIY Escape Kits π¨οΈβ Genre: Adventure, Mystery Date Played: 5/21/2020 Difficulty (based on 4 players): 7/10 Size of Team: Up to 6 players (Recommended 2-4) Time: 60-120 mins Price: $10.00 (Digital Version), $25.00 (By Mail), $115.00 (Deluxe Version) This was the best "multiplayer platform" digital game that we've played so far. Once you downloaded the game, you were able to assign one host who would be the only that could interact with items and input codes. The other players could join in the game as companions who would be able to simultaneously receive messages as the host performed an action. The tabs on the bottom of the screen will tell you which locks haven't been opened, what files were used, and what items were still in your inventory. We also checked out the hint system and it was very well designed to give the minimal amount to push you forward. The music provided created a nice ambiance for the game but with four of us playing on zoom, we had to opt to mute it. If you do decide to play at home or with a smaller group, definitely play the music to have the full experience. There were some documents that required some reading and as players we always try to push this job onto others. This is where we really appreciated the creators adding in the option of the voice recordings. We loved the graphics throughout the game. The aged coloration and the decors really made us feel like we were inside an old temple. The puzzles were designed like a "search and discover". We would go from room to room to find different clues and solve various puzzles. Eventually we had to put them together and there were a lot of "aha" moments. There was one puzzle that I really enjoyed which we haven't seen used in a print and cut game yet. The use of the point and click had a nice balance with the paper portion of the game. We didn't necessarily had to cut out all the papers but it did make visualization easier. One of our teammates really enjoyed the crafting aspect of the game so we designated all the "hard work" to him. Although we eventually escaped, there were pieces of our memories that "the lost temple" entrapped forever. We can't wait to see where CU adventure takes us on their next journey! - Sherlocked PH - "The Cabin"
Videos/ Photos provided by Sherlocked PH Company: Sherlocked PH Game: The Cabin Country: Philippines π΅π Language: English Type of Game: Live Stream Escape π» Genre: Detective, Murder Mystery Date Played: 9/7/2020 Difficulty (based on 6 players): 6/10 Size of Team: 5-11ppl Time: 90 Minutes Price: Php249 per player ($10 per player for international bookings) We gathered some of our old friends and headed up to the woods for a weekend getaway. All of a sudden, a scream broke out and one of our friends was murdered! We needed to figure out who's the killer or else anyone could be next... "The Cabin" was a very unique online game format that we haven't experienced yet. It was a hybrid of a digital point-n-click (controlled by a game master via our commands) and an audio game. Depending on how many players book for the game, there'll be a role assigned for each player. Prior to the game, the game leader will have to fill out a form to assign a specific role to a player. It would be great to discuss this in advance with your teammates and assign them according to their strengths. We had a team of 6 and our roles were lead investigator, lead interrogator, forensic chemist, forensic pathologist, fingerprint analyst and inventory keeper. We were given different documents that only pertained to our job at the beginning of the game. Most of the time we were able to play collaboratively but there were a few times we had to wait on our teammate in order to move on. If we had an inventory system then we would be able to work on things simultaneously. Our favorite part of the game was when we were broken into two teams and into breakout rooms. We had to work together to solve puzzles in order to eventually reunite with everyone. Communication was key here and that's why this game is great for team building in so many ways. We also really loved the twist in the narrative and how the story was unveiled as we found more evidence through solutions from the puzzles. There were a lot "wooo" and "ahhhh" moments. One suggest we had would be to actually have someone read out the narrative part like a story and perhaps add some more music elements to create a more immersive atmosphere. This was ultimately a digital game souped up with a perplexing plot that a group of people could play together collaboratively. We really enjoyed it and can't wait for their new game to come out! *** We regret to inform this company has closed its doors *** Disclosure: We thank Sherlocked PH for comping our tickets for this game. Videos/ Photos provided by Pebble Escape Rooms Company: Pebble Escape Rooms Game: It's Alive/Hyde & Seek/Escape From Castle Dracula Language: English Country: United Kingdom π¬π§ Type of Game: Digital Escape Game π» Genre: Horror Difficulty (based on 2 players): 4/10 Date Played: 8/24/2020 Time: 60 Minutes Size of Team: Unlimited Price: Β£10.00 each or Β£25.00 (All three) Pebble Escape Rooms current have three point-n-click digital escape games. They are all horror themed and could be purchased as a bundle for a savings of Β£5. The puzzles were not difficult but we really enjoyed the graphics of the games. One minute we were in Dracula's Castle, the next we were in Dr. Jekyll's laboratory and finally, we ended up trying to rebuild Frankenstein! We played the game over video conferencing and was able to use the same link to enter the game at the same time. The game was not synced so both of us would have to enter a password in order to proceed. As each "scene" typically had just one puzzle, it felt quite nice to maintain a steady flow throughout the game. One thing we were hoping to see was more variations in puzzles as several similar concepts were used in all the games. There was a button where you were able to type in notes. This was quite helpful especially if you didn't want to go back to the previous pages for clue pieces you'll need for the meta puzzle at the end. The final countdown clock at the end of each game definitely bought back that realistic nerve wracking feeling of being in an escape room and having only few seconds left before we were locked in forever. Even though the games were horror themed, they were not scary at all. These definitely could be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. *** We regret to inform this company has closed its doors *** Disclosure: We thank Pebble Escape Rooms for providing us with samples of these games. The visuals felt more surreal and had a video game vibe to it. It took a bit to get use to the controls as it's not a direct straight or back like how you would use it on a controller but we were able to manage to use left and right for most of our searching. The graphics were great. It was as if we were in a museum. There were many clever ways the game designer was able to incorporate puzzles in the posters. He was also able to utilize objects throughout the 3D space. Some reminded us of puzzles in an actual escape room. Every time we went around the room we were able to discover something new. There was a lot of memory required for this game since there was no inventory system. At times, we didn't know what we collected and what hasn't been used. It's important for you to search through everything especially when a new action triggered something. Our favorite part was the ending. It was not only a cliffhanger but it tied everything together and definitely left me with chills! * Please note that this game is best played on a computer using Google Chrome Web Browser (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) We've been a fan of this online puzzle series since the beginning. Each chapter unlocks into a different adventure and there seems to always be a theme. Our favorite is the Disney one. Every object you click on will give you a clue which you'll have to piece together to form an answer for the meta-puzzle. In some cases, you will need the assistance of Google. We didn't mind that at all since we actually learned a lot about people, music, random facts, etc. With "Palace of Destiny", you never know what magic lies in the next chapter and that "mystery" is the best cliffhanger for us! Photo above is property of PALACESPHERE (By Palace Games) Company: PALACESPHERE (by Palace Games) Game: The Ruby Palace Country: USA πΊπΈ Language: English Type of Game: Online Puzzle Game π» Genre: Fantasy Date Played: 8/22/2020 Difficulty (based on 4 players): 6.5/10 Size of Team: 3-4 Players (Recommended) Time: 1-2 Hours (Approximately) Price: $20.00/ pp (Unlimited Group size) Video above is property of PALACESPHERE (By Palace Games) If you are a fan of "Palace of Destiny" (a free online puzzle adventure by Palace Games), you'll want to continue your journey to "The Ruby Palace". The interface is pretty much the same in terms of entering a room that has a few other rooms with a common theme. You'll need to combine the clues in all the rooms to unlock the door with a password in order to continue on to the next room. There's a self guided hint system if you get stuck. There were definitely a few added surprises in "The Ruby Palace" that we haven't seen in "Palace of Destiny". When we received a mysterious letter from a long lost relative, we were very excited to be invited to visit the Ruby Palace. Of course we had to invite some friends to join us. I was able to register my team through the Game Admin Portal (GAP) with our game code. This allowed me to register my teammate's names, emails and set a time and date for them to join in on the game. Since we had a group of 4, we divided our team to team A and B. Each team could have a leader and we could chose to either work collaboratively or competitively. We played the game on a video conferencing platform collaboratively. Each teammate received an invite in their email and when we were all ready, we pressed "PLAY" together. The game was synced in the sense that once a teammate entered a password, the door would open for the rest of the teammates. We were able to roam around in the palace in various locations at the same time. This really helped with certain puzzles that included clues in different rooms. The few differences between this game and the free game was that we didn't have to use Google for outside knowledge, we were able to interact with each other for certain puzzles and the story line was more defined. Our favorite puzzle wasn't actually one that needed solving or deciphering. We really enjoyed this particular puzzle that felt like a Charades game and instantly bought laughter to our game. We hope to see more of those types of "puzzle" being put into this game since on this digital platform, there's no limit to team size and it would be really fun if the entire team could participate in an aspect of a puzzle. The puzzle difficulty level actually felt easier than the puzzles in the free game. It took us around 56 minutes to complete the game. Perhaps it's more gear towards the general public since we could totally envision large corporate companies utilizing this platform for team building. It's very easy to form teams for departments and see who would win the competition as each game has their own internal leader board. The Ruby Palace is just the first in the Jewel Series by Palace Games. We can't wait to see how they would develop the stories and the different rooms in The Sapphire, Emerald and Diamond Palace! Once the entire team is assembled, everyone will start the game at the same time. The game is not synced so each team will need to complete their individual puzzles in order to move forward. It felt very competitive to us since everyone was solving puzzles at different speeds. There is a midpoint to regroup should the team members decide to wait for each other. You can play the game with two people as a minimum required team size but certain puzzles would be easier to solve if you had more teammates. The ideal team size is 4. There's a build-in hint system should you need it. Your score will be ranked at the end according to your own group's time and hints used. ππ ·π ΄ π Ώππππ »π ΄π This game's puzzle design is very different than their previous game "The Ruby Palace". In "The Ruby Palace", there were more logic/trivia type of puzzles where we felt like the team is able to work together more versus in this game, it's more independent. There were a few areas where we were able to help each other with verbal cluing but most of the time you'll need to solve these on your own by using "point-n-click". The game had a lot of "machinery vibe" ( love the graphics!) where the players have to control gears, pipes, switches, paths, etc...We did use share screen a few times on our Zoom to inquire assistance from our teammates versus the hint system. Although I'm curious how the hints would be written for some puzzles as it's not something that you would be able to instruct verbally. There was one puzzle in there that you'll either hate it or love it. It felt like we're playing an arcade game. Some of our teammates found it quite soothing to be able to do something totally out of the puzzle world but some felt it was way too long and got a bit frustrated. The ending puzzles felt more playful rather than intense like the ones in the beginning. Although the few puzzles at the end didn't really connect in terms of the relevance to the storyline, we enjoyed having that little break with easier puzzles and finally seeing that finish line. π ²π »π Ύππ Έπ ½π Ά ππ ·π Ύππ Άπ ·ππ There were some really cool game designs we haven't seen before utilized in the puzzles. It almost felt like physical puzzles in an escape room. If you are looking for more of a competitive game with your team, I'll go with "The Sapphire Palace". If you are looking for more of a cooperative game, I'll go with "The Ruby Palace". In terms of difficulty level, "The Sapphire Palace" does feel more challenging mainly because it's much harder to bypass (it's not just entering a password to move on, you'll have to solve the puzzles). I can't wait to visit another palace! A heavy green door awaits you with a curious lock. Anything is better than staying locked in the dingy basement so forward you must go and continue your adventureβ¦ Video above is property of PALACESPHERE (By Palace Games) ππ ·π ΄ π Άπ °π Όπ ΄ π Ώπ »π °π With your game voucher and log in, the team leader is able invite team members to the game by sending them an email. Once you are all on the page you are asked to select an animal to use as your avatar (dragon, hippo, swan, lion, etc). This game is a cooperative game that requires all players to work together in order to unlock each door. In quite a few of the puzzles, our team of five faced the issue of one player having to sit out on the physical element of the puzzles so if youβre playing with more than four people, I would recommend assigning a rotation before you start digging into a puzzle to ensure everyone has an opportunity to play during the experience. This game plays very much like a video game where you must maneuver your character around to complete certain tasks. Every member is required for the tasks to be completed and only then can you move forward. The goal is to travel further into the gardens to collect a series of tokens and find the angel. There is a hint system for this game in the top left corner of the screen where a lightbulb icon resides. There is also a leaderboard system that gives teams points based on their time of completion β it does not take hints into account. This is the third installment to the Palace series, but each game can be played standalone. Photos above are property of PALACESPHERE (By Palace Games) ππ ·π ΄ π Ώππππ »π ΄π This game's puzzle design is quite different from its predecessors. Unlike The Sapphire Palace, The Emerald Palace is more akin to the problem solving logic puzzles you see in retro gaming more than anything else. You are orienting geometric pieces with increasing difficulty, trying to move all the character across a terrain with rules you must discover, and more. There is no outside information required to complete these tasks. The animations were beautiful and cute to fit with the garden theme from the little armadillo you are shooting around the room to the rabbit you were helping. I found the collaboration element to this game was quite fun as we all worked together but I was anticipating more puzzles in a traditional sense. This game I would say is more geared towards corporations looking for teambuilding activities than escape room enthusiasts. There was one set of puzzles we found a little repetitive but the final one had a really unique twist that forced you to rely on your teammates to complete the tasks. Our team completed this game in 1:16:54 without any hints; we did experience a minor glitch that meant one of their members got stuck on the perimeter of the game but eventually they were able to shoot themselves back into the game. Photos above are property of PALACESPHERE (By Palace Games) π ²π »π Ύππ Έπ ½π Ά ππ ·π Ύππ Άπ ·ππ The Emerald Palace's focus of providing whimsical retro game experience succeeded in creating an engaging cooperative adventure amongst team members. This game has a focus of bringing players together to face challenges and you get a sense of camaraderie while trying to complete each task. If youβre more interested in traditional puzzles, I recommend taking a look at Palace Spheres other games: Palace of Destiny is currently free to play on their website, The Ruby Palace provides similar a cooperative gaming atmosphere with a focus of puzzles, and The Sapphire Palace provides a higher level of challenge for those wanting to test their brains. Now itβs your turn to decide which palace do you want to visit! - Escape2Win - "Mad World"
Photos provided by Escape2Win Company: Escape2Win Game: Mad World Country: Portugal π΅πΉ Language: English, Portuguese Type of Game: Digital Escape Game π» Genre: Fantasy Date Played: 8/3/2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 4.5/10 Size of Team: Up to 6 Devices Time: Unlimited Price: β¬6.99 "Mad World" is a digital escape game designed with an inventory portal we are very familiar with: telescape. We've used it for many remote escape rooms before but this was the first time we've seen it being used with a digital game. After receiving the link, we signed in to it at the same time and used PubHub to communicate with each other. Our goal was to help the unicorn to get back home safely. The game began with a photo of a room. We were able to click on areas in the photo that had interactive items. If an item could be picked up, it would show up in the inventory. The game was also synced in a sense where if one player entered a password, it'll update the same for the other player. The puzzles were not too difficult but having two players definitely helped with the search process. We also found it useful when one player was reading out clues and the other was deciphering them. Our favorite moments in the game was the prerecorded videos from the unicorn. The videographer chose an animated cinema feel that bought us into a fantasy world. We took about 35 minutes to finish the game with one hint (there was one puzzle we were confused about from the way it was photographed and have since made suggestions to the company). It was a lot of fun feeling like kids again. This game is definitely family friendly and I'm sure your kids will love to meet the unicorn! *** This game can no longer purchased but can still be booked as an in-person experience *** Disclosure: We thank Escape2Win for providing us with a sample of the game. - Escape2Win - "The Haunted Dinner"
Photos provided by Escape2Win Company: Escape2Win Game: Haunted Dinner Country: Portugal π΅πΉ Language: English, Portuguese Type of Game: Digital Escape Game π» Genre: Horror Date Played: 4/17/2021 Difficulty (based on 5 players): 5/10 Size of Team: Up to 6 Devices Time: Unlimited (Once you press start, you have 48 hrs to finish the game) Price: β¬20.00/Game ππ ·π ΄ πππ Ύππ Strange things have been reported by guests staying at the Escape Hotel. They could never finish a peaceful meal in the dining room. Madame Butterfly, a famous medium, has been hired to deal with this matter but she needs as much positive energy as she can get. Will you help her? ππ ·π ΄ π Άπ °π Όπ ΄ π Ώπ »π °π This a digital point-n-click game that you can play with a group of friends. I suggest for the team leader to set up a video conferencing call for the group. This would be used for communication between the players. In the game, every player will be able to see each other's cursor. If a player collects an item, it'll go into an inventory folder where all the players will be able to see that item. If a player solves a puzzle, it'll unlock for all the players. It's best to communicate how you solved the puzzle with the entire team before unlocking a lock as it could trigger a video and confuse the other players. In this game, you'll encounter a few ways to unlock items. There are normal number locks and key locks but also items you'll need to combine in order to make something appear or react. If you haven't played a game in Telescape before, make sure you read the instructions carefully at the beginning. The game is staged in the eerie dining room of the Escape Hotel. You're able to interact with various items that could potentially show a video or play a creepy sound. This is one of the rare occasions that I actually got a few jump scares from a digital game. ππ ·π ΄ π Ώππππ »π ΄π The puzzles were not too difficult for enthusiasts and most were non-linear. Since we're able to divide and conquer, we finished in about 29 minutes. For enthusiasts, I would suggest having no more than 3 players for this game. We were also able to come up with an answer to a puzzle without using one of the clues that was given which confused us at the end as we thought we never used that clue. I really appreciated the clarity of the audio for this game, especially for the puzzle elements. The ways we were able to utilize the Ouija board and other "spiritual" items really bought out the spooky vibe in this game. Just when we thought we're done, there was more to be discovered... π ²π »π Ύππ Έπ ½π Ά ππ ·π Ύππ Άπ ·ππ If you want something not too difficult in terms of puzzles and something spooky in terms of ambience, then you might want to be a guest at this haunted dinner. If a digital game doesn't satisfy your cravings, then you can check out their live actor online version of this game called "Madame Butterfly". See trailer below: πΌπβπΈβπΌπβπΌβπππππ£π€ βππ₯π£π πβπ€ πππ π¦πππ₯π€ Helen B. This was another Telescape based experience similar to those I had played before - where a real room is filmed/photographed and then the interface allows you to look around, interact with certain things and enter codes to progress. The room has a house of horror look to it - not for the faint-hearted but nothing super scary, more creepy :) This one had a nice mix of puzzles and some clever touches - the rest of my team were solving things left right and centre while I was hunting for hidden areas or clues, and we moved along at quite a pace. We didn't come across any technical problems and the inventory system and code entry worked well. This would be a great game to play around Halloween or with any horror or occult fans! *** This game can no longer purchased but can still be booked as an in-person experience *** Disclosure: We thank Escape2Win for providing us with a sample of the game. - Control The Escape - "Villainous Vaccine Ventures"
Photos have been provided by Control The Escape Company: Control The Escape Game: Villainous Vaccine Ventures Country: United Kingdom π¬π§ Language: English Type of Game: Digital Escape Game π» Genre: Thriller Date Played: 7/27/2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 5/10 Size of Team: 2 Players Time: Unlimited Price: Β£6.50 We are renowned scientists that have been kidnapped by a villain. He's forcing us to make the vaccine to cure the world from the pandemic and to make him rich for life. We need to escape from his evil plan but first we have to get out of this dungeon! This game is a point-n-click game that can be played with a single player/team or multiple players. It's very easy to operate and if you get stuck, there's a self guided hint system. You'll be able to use the same login after purchase and play over audio/video conferencing. We chose to play it over "PubHub" since it was more efficient to search various areas and double check each other's work. The game will not sync each player's actions so if you opened a lock, the other player will also have to use the same code to open that lock. The fact that there's no inventory list in the game and there's a good amount of space to explore made it feel like we were playing in a real escape room. We needed to remember where we saw something and what we haven't used. This was when having two people became beneficial since we were able to remind each other of different clues we saw in different locations. There were a good mixture of logic and math puzzles. Some of them didn't feel like they coordinated to the story. We were able to complete the game in about 40 minutes or so but for beginners it might take longer especially if you don't use any of the hints. It's nice to know that they have two new games in the works! We can't wait to see what "Astronomical Oxygen Disaster" and Games Night Bust Up" is all about! *** We regret to inform this company has closed its doors *** Disclosure: We thank Control The Escape for providing us with a sample of the game. "Astronomical Oxygen Disaster" was their newest game but it was shorter in terms of play time than "Villianous Vaccine Ventures". In this adventure, our goal was to find the hidden back up oxygen supply in the space ship as we were running out. There were about 6-7 puzzles throughout the game. The puzzles types included a mixture of Math, riddles, audio, etc. One thing that we overlooked was that you will need to use something more than once. We did love the bits of humor that was implemented into the game as it was definitely relevant to the current situation. If you are looking for something quick and fun, give this a go. They are currently offering it at a discounted price as well! *** We regret to inform this company has closed its doors *** Disclosure: We thank Control The Escape for providing us with a sample of the game.
