LOCATION: Los Angeles, California,USA Photo above is property of Stash House πŸ“Β Β ETR DECODER πŸ”‘ GAME: Stash House πŸ“… DATE PLAYED: October 15, 2022 🎬 GENRE: Crime 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 4 ppl): 8/10 πŸ‘₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 4-11 ppl πŸ•’ LENGTH OF TIME: 90 Mins. πŸ’° PRICE: $40.00/ pp (4 ppl) - $33.00/ pp (11 ppl) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private πŸ”“ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes πŸ“– THE STORY In the heart of Koreatown in LA is a nondescript building with a singular green light. You were given the time and date to be at that specific location to discuss a lucrative business opportunity and, when you arrive, you enter into a modern looking apartment. All seems legit albeit a little unconventional. All of a sudden, the TV turns on and the team gets introduced to Ray, a notorious drug lord in the area. He explains that while this business opportunity is available for all who showed up, he wants to vet the groups and only come out with confidants he can trust. He has hidden a number of bags of cocaine around the apartment and tipped the cops off to your location, you now have 90 mins to find and flush each bag and get rid of the evidence. It is time for you to prove your worth or get locked up for life. 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The start of the room was quite unique due to the fact that they didn’t have a lobby. As soon as you enter the door with the green light, you are fully immersed in the experience and with a little bit of instruction, an apartment of puzzles is at your disposal. The puzzle flow was very well choreographed. There is a wide array of conundrums that your team will have to figure out to get all of the bags. They were all fair puzzles and due to the amount and difficulty of them in this room, the flow was very well done. Stash House is filled with one of the largest variety of puzzles in the industry. Due to the fact that it is a 90 minute game, your team will use nearly all of it to solve the physical and mental challenges in this room. The secrets in this game are very well hidden and surprise your team each time one is revealed. They can appear nearly anywhere and reveal anything. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK One of the puzzle interfaces used wasn’t the most responsive and we had to make sure that the buttons were pressed properly in order for the solution to be taken. We had input the proper solution multiple times but the electronics did not register. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? "Stash House" is a challenging game that constantly impresses players on what great puzzle design can look like. Starting with a unique set and building upon it with the other aspects that make a game stand out in this industry, such as the storyline and actions that are taken during the game, it cements itself as a true stand out experience. It is a game built for large groups to work together, our team was filled with four people and we barely got out as experienced enthusiasts. Each person will find at least one puzzle that will be their favorite for them and everyone will contribute by the end. Stash House is an experience with excellent puzzle flow, surprising twists, and shocking reveals to make this a stand out room in the industry. Photo above are property of Stash House ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Limited paid street parking, Venue recommends Rideshare or Public Transit It will help if your team is physically capable. Basic motor functions (i.e. walking up a flight of stairs, crouching, crawling, kneeling) are needed to fully enjoy this game. There is no Lobby and be prepared to wait outside until Stash House is ready for you and/or your group has arrived If you have booked the first game of the day, be aware a roll cage door might be blocking the green light. • Escape Room Era - "Christmas at Franklin's"

LOCATION: Anaheim, California, USA Photo above is property of Escape Room Era πŸ“Β Β ETR DECODER πŸ”‘ GAME: Christmas at Franklin's πŸ“… DATE PLAYED: October 20, 2023 🎬 GENRE: Holiday, Family 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 adults/ 2 kids): 6/10 πŸ‘₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 9 ppl πŸ•’ LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. πŸ’° PRICE: $42.00/ pp ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private πŸ”“ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes πŸ“– THE STORY Santa has sent your group, Seal Team ELF-A, to infiltrate Ben Franklin's home to acquire his newest toy invention. While he is away at a secret meeting, you have an hour to solve the puzzles, examine the trinkets and figure out the devices to find it before he gets back. 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE This was a beautifully decorated Christmas themed room with a Christmas tree, lights, stocking by the fire and more. Though we played it before the holiday season, we felt immersed in the feel of the Christmas spirit. All the puzzles were themed around Christmas using a lot of fun props, as well as there was a lot of items to work with. This allowed us all to be part of the puzzle solving and let us all stay engaged. There was a nice twist in the middle that kept the game exciting. When asked, the kids say that this was their favorite part. Though the puzzle flow was mostly linear, there were a few times we were able to break up into 2 groups and all have a chance to test our puzzle solving prowess. At the beginning, it seemed overwhelming but once we got into the game, we found it flowed well. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK A very minor thing but simply having a lockout safe can be a pain, but the GM also allowed us to check the combination first before entering it which was helpful. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? "Christmas at Franklin’s" was a family friendly Christmas game. The puzzles were creative and there was a wide variety with some that allowed the kids to lead the solve. The story was light and the room had the perfect Christmas feel to it. We played with 2 adults and 2 kids and found it was a perfect number to allow everyone to see everything though up to 6 would fit comfortably in there. Anyone looking for a little holiday cheer anytime of the year, this is the room for you to check out. ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Free Parking Lobby with seating available. • Incredible Escape Rooms - "Spirit Trap"

LOCATION: Glendale, Arizona, USA Photo above is property of Incredible Escape Rooms Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πŸ“Β Β ETR DECODER πŸ”‘ GAME: Spirit Trap πŸ“… DATE PLAYED: August 22, 2022 🎬 GENRE: Paranormal 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 4 ppl): 5.5/10 πŸ‘₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-10 ppl πŸ•’ LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. πŸ’° PRICE: $20.99/ pp - $39.99/ pp ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private πŸ”“ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes πŸ“– THE STORY You and your team were brought here today to explore the haunted house at the end of Cranston Street. Rumor has it, a family of 4 all tragically died there. Will you guys succeed at freeing their spirits or will you all be trapped there as well? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE This room integrated some cool props to give that "spirit" type of reveal. There was a visual puzzle that fit well with the dΓ©cor of that particular room. There was a video that gave us a conclusive ending. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK The game was too bright to fit with the theme. We didn't sense any spirit presence or haunted feeling. If the lights could be dimmed and perhaps a change of ambience from room to room, it'll go better with the storyline. Other wise we suggest changing the actual story and the name of the room. One prop that was used felt like we needed outside knowledge to know what it was used for as all of us haven't seen it used that way before. There were too many props in this room and none of them were bolted down (this is the creator's choice) but we felt that this would be seen as red herrings to players. There was a section in the game where many items could be seen as visual clues but none of them were used at the end. The puzzles didn't really progress with the storyline. We only knew why we were brought into this house and what we accomplished at the end but how did we do it wasn't expressed throughout game play. Manufacture stickers on furniture has to be removed as the numbers could be confusing to players as red herrings as well. There was a lack of sound or light alert for items that we solved and popped open. Game master should have prepared some generic clues to send as typing them during the game could be quite slow. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Incredible Escape Rooms is a new company that opened this year. They are a family business who are eager to learn the ropes and get better as they go. We spoke with the owners and they have expressed that this is the beginning of their adventure with some basic props and items but they are looking into cooler props and improving their storyline. We hope that our suggestions above could be of some assistance for their future games. Currently, these puzzles might be a bit too easy for enthusiasts as we were able to get out with ample time left on the clock. But there are a few puzzles in there where beginners might find challenging. For people who are not really looking for an eerie experience, you might find this room's set up better for you. All of their rooms were very spacious so they could easily accommodate larger groups. We look forward to seeing their improved concepts and rooms in the near future. As you walked into the house, you were surprised by his other profession, a toymaker. What other secrets are hidden within his chamber? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Some puzzle boxes were quite unique. It fit well with the uncle's secret collection. There was an interesting puzzle towards the latter part of the game that needed teamwork. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK There was no storyline to follow in this room. We were confused at the end on how we escaped (the owner did say they are working on an ending currently) None of the items were bolted down in this room (this is the creator's choice) which could be seen as red herring to players. Some puzzles utilized props that probably would need replacement pretty frequently. Some props already felt like they needed some restoration and being a new company they probably want to look into sturdier items. The camera angle for this room might need to be adjusted for the game master. There were times they couldn't see what we were doing as the clues we received were puzzles we've already completed. One prop needed a warning sign and instructions on how to operate it especially when you would be locked out for a few minutes if you input a few wrong answers. The set design didn't really properly represent the title of the room, the poster and the storyline. From the looks of it, it should be more of an eerie type of game and a dark secret is hidden within. We didn't feel vibe with this game. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? • Want to Escape Rushden - "Conspiracy Theorist"

LOCATION: Rushden, United Kingdom Photo above is property of Want to Escape Rushden πŸ“Β Β ETR DECODER πŸ”‘ GAME: Conspiracy Theorist πŸ“… DATE PLAYED: November 8, 2021 🎬 GENRE: Adventure, Mystery 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 7/10 πŸ‘₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-6 ppl πŸ•’ LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. πŸ’° PRICE: Β£18-20/PP/Adults; Β£14-15/PP/Children (pending on the group size) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private πŸ”“ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes (45Min) πŸ“– THE STORY The pyramids, JFK, the moon landings? What is real and what is not? Your best friend is a dedicated conspiracy theory investigator, and has travelled the world in the search for the truth, and brought home many amazing artefacts to boot! But he seemed to be getting increasingly paranoid recently, and now you haven’t seen him for a while (but hey that’s not unlike him) But one morning a note comes through your door from an unseen hand. Your friend is apparently in possession of a mystical artefact that can be used for extreme good, but also extreme evil - and someone wants it. They have kidnapped your friend and they want that item. You bring it to them within the hour and they will release him. Or else…. So, you must break in and search his flat and all the fantastic treasures inside, but he won’t have made finding it easy... 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The room upon entering really does look like the flat of a conspiracy theory nut. Dimly lit with newspaper clippings, things pinned to the walls, a large world map, trinkets and lots of locked drawers. Not much is just decorative - you’ll probably find it all useful! A nice ambient soundtrack plays in the background, which is welcome as it almost helps you concentrate and means there’s never any absolute silence should you be stood scratching your head. You’re given a digital writing board to take notes which is super helpful for code-cracking! Plenty of hidden objects to find, padlocks, codes to crack, tactile puzzles, logic puzzles and tech-assisted progress for a really nice balance. My team-mate, who swore she was β€œrubbish at escape rooms” always had something that she could do and then found she excelled at. I think this room may have changed her mind ;) There is an absolutely brilliant task to be completed which I had a lot of fun with and reminded me very much of a Crystal Maze challenge. This task will definitely appeal to at least one member of the team who is young or young at heart, and relies of skill and patience :) Another extremely clever puzzle that requires communication and patience really intrigued me as to how the β€œroom” knows we got it right, I was convinced it was manually assessed by the GM but no such clever tech! There’s a tv screen in the room that will chime and provide a clue if the GM thinks you need to be put back on track or if you look like you are struggling. Outside knowledge of conspiracy theories may appear to help you but there is no reliance on this, everything you need information wise is available to you. There are plenty of non-linear puzzles so players can focus on different tasks at the same time. That said, communication is key as sometimes you will need to refer to information in one place to solve a puzzle across the room. Two of my favourite moments were a decorative reveal, and also a maths puzzle where the penny dropped so hard on me that it felt like it had hit me from the top of the Empire State Building. Kudos for that sneakiness! Our GM/Manager is clued up on the conspiracies involved and shared some of the information on them with us afterwards that was genuinely intriguing! 🧩 MISSED THE MARK If anything, I’d say the lobby is looking a little tired, but I know this is a priority for them once the rebranding has been agreed, so I look forward to this, and next time I do hope the manager’s doggo who is sometimes in residence is available for wuffles. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? A fantastic theme, wonderful puzzles and use of fun tech and props that are all in-keeping, some non-linear parts where you can make good progress and you will certainly learn some interesting trivia along the way! We had a lovely chat with the friendly manager Ruth who clearly loves escapes rooms, games and fun, and is so welcoming. Thanks Ruth! Want to Escape opened just a few months before the pandemic hit, but has not sat back and done nothing, they built two new rooms during their downtime and now have 4 differently themed rooms to choose from. One of them, the Guardian of the Gallery, has been nominated in the 2021 TERPECA awards. There is a chance a Christmas room may be forthcoming from them too, and if that does happen I will be right there! There’s absolutely no conspiracy here, this is a genuinely fun room - go play! ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO The venue is easy to locate and has plenty of free parking around the back. There are toilet facilities inside and hand sanitiser was provided. In terms of accessibility, the room is situated upstairs and there is a narrow passageway to be negotiated. *** We regret to inform this company has closed its doors *** Disclosure: We thank Want to Escape Rushden for comping our tickets for this game. • Escape The Chop - "Escape The Chop"

LOCATION: Reading, United Kingdom Photo above is property of Escape The Chop πŸ“Β Β ETR DECODER πŸ”‘ GAME: Escape the Chop πŸ“… DATE PLAYED: December 5., 2021 🎬 GENRE: Mystery, Detective 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 7/10 πŸ‘₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-6 ppl (Ages 10+) πŸ•’ LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. πŸ’° PRICE: Β£18-27/PP (pending on the group size) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private πŸ”“ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes (45Min) πŸ“– THE STORY You’ve been asked to visit a typical Barber’s shop in a quiet village outside of Reading. On arrival, you are instructed to ask for a very specific item, and upon doing so, one of the staff will see to your request. There’s a special room out the back where they will take you, and once in there then the real truth emerges. There have been a number of men coming to the barber’s for an appointment, but are then reported as missing. The shop manager is out, thankfully, as this colleague has very strong suspicions that not all is as it seems. The men have been seen coming into this room with the manager, but no-one can recall seeing them leave. Forgetful staff? Some sort of secret back exit? Or something more sinister? This colleague has had no joy working it out, and the manager will be back in an hour. Can you get to the bottom of the mystery before he returns? 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE This experience begins with Immediate immersion - you arrive and instead of saying you are here for the escape room as usual, you have to ask for a very specific item - and the member of staff you speak to will then sheepishly make sure you get to where you need to be. From when you arrive until you finish, all instructions including the usual directions about what to do and not to do are given in character, which adds to the immersion. You walk through a real, working barber’s shop on arrival - and the room you are taken just seems like an extension of the shop - until you look closer… There are a couple of clues in the first room that there is a similarity to the story of another infamous barber, but there isn’t a particularly strong resemblance to the theme, the room has its own style and very realistic decoration! There was a great mix of puzzles - physical, code-breaking, using information found around the room as well as many, many locks of all types. The puzzles are a mix of linear and non-linear as some items you find early on may not find a use for some time, and some need to be built up over time until complete. This was a nice touch. Three puzzles in particular make great use of the most thematic devices in the room - and all three made us go β€œohhhhhhhhh!!!” :) Hints are given in keeping with the room and in character, and may be proffered to help you without asking, should you be on the right track but need a nudge. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Nothing! The room is great as you can see from all the above! Note that this is an enthusiast owner’s first room and has been crafted, decorated and props provided on a budget - he has done a fantastic job considering this. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Definitely! The room is not horror (as it is suitable for older children), or even that scary - it’s more about some gory detail later in the game, and a clever plot twist that ups the urgency which might give you a jump! Alex, the owner, happily told us about his origin story which you can read about on his website, and it clearly extremely proud and excited by his room - and we love the fact that he got the opportunity to create a great room in such an unusual venue! A wonderful first experience from Alex, who clearly thoroughly enjoys the role and seeing people enjoy his creation! Alex has a new room planned in a new location for the new year and we can’t to try it out! ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO There is free car parking right outside, and a convenience store and even a restaurant should you need them in the same block. If you are not driving, check the location and transport availability before you travel. The site and room is all on one level and wheel chair accessible. • REMOTE: Hourglass Escapes Ltd. - "Unstoppable"

Photos provided by Hourglass Escapes Ltd. Company: Hourglass Escapes Ltd. Game: Unstoppable Country: United Kingdom πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ Language: English Type of Game: Remote Escape Room πŸ—£ Genre: Action Date Played: 3/23/2021 Difficulty (based on 4 players): 5/10 Size of Team: 2-4 Players Time: 60 Minutes Price: Β£40/ Team πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ†‚πŸ†ƒπŸ…ΎπŸ†πŸ†ˆ You're on board a train that's going full speed from London Kings Cross to Peterborough Station. The driver has suddenly collapsed. He left a serious of instructions on how to stop the train but they look really complicated, like puzzles. You are their only hope... πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΆπŸ…°πŸ…ΌπŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ…»πŸ…°πŸ†ˆ Our journey started with our avatar standing inside a "moving" train. The motioned window was a nice illusion prop. Since there was no 360 view provided, our avatar gave us a nice overview of the room. At first glance, it doesn't seem like there was much to do but as we started to examine items closely with the help of the online inventory system "Telescape", we were able to discover a few secrets. Normally you might have to find where the hidden door or passageway would be an escape room but since this was a train themed room so you kind of already knew where the door was located. This actually heightened our curiosity as there could be many many doors that we would need to pass through before ending up in the engine room. We enjoyed this build up sensation. Whenever we collected an item or a new item was discovered by the avatar, we would get an horn blast sound from the train. This was quite nice as sometimes we were not aware that something was send to us in some of the other online games we've played. The avatar used a tripod which sometimes felt cumbersome in the narrow spaces of the train. It's probably best to operate this game with body harness or handheld gimbal. πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ†„πŸ†‰πŸ†‰πŸ…»πŸ…΄πŸ†‚ There was a good amount of searching that had to be done in this room. We were glad the avatar was quick on her feet and was able to automate the search for us. She was also great at directing us to not waste time on items of no interest. Hourglass Escapes did their best with translating some of the puzzles to online version as players were able to interact with some of the items that were collected from the searching process. Majority of the time the puzzles were linear so we had to play as a team. One puzzle did stump us for quite sometime because we couldn't understand the terminology that was used since it's different in the US than in the UK. Maybe the clue system could be tweaked pending on where the players are booking from. πŸ…²πŸ…»πŸ…ΎπŸ†‚πŸ…ΈπŸ…½πŸ…Ά πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…ΎπŸ†„πŸ…ΆπŸ…·πŸ†ƒπŸ†‚ I would imagine this room would be a lot of fun to play in person. There were some ambience and sound that had to be cut out from the online version which could've made the ending feel more intense. Perhaps adding some sound element in Telescape could help achieve this. At the end we escaped with our P.I.s in 47 minutes and 10 seconds! Overall we had a nice and smooth ride onboard the Hourglass express! π”Όπ•Šβ„‚π”Έβ„™π”Όπ•‹β„π”Όβ„π•†π•†π•„π•–π•£π•€βœ β„™.𝕀.π•€βœ π•‹π•™π• π•¦π•˜π•™π•₯𝕀 Paolo F. The scenery is nice and the setting changes, because you immediately understand that there is more than one room, help to create the right level of pressure: the door we will open, it would be the last one or there will be another one behind? In addition to the classic interaction via Zoom, there is also the use of Telescape, not only to better see some objects but also for the resolution of some games. In most cases I prefer the interaction with the avatar to the use of inventories, but I find that in this game the use of Telescape has been well implemented and balanced as the players do not have to be away from the real room for too long. As always I recommend having, if possible, two screens on two different PCs so players don’t have to open and close screens on the same computer. The riddles are nice and although on a couple of occasions we needed a hint from the avatar to solve them, they have never been too difficult letting us to complete the game in 47 minutes. The avatar was in fact good at guiding us and letting us play throughout the time and at intervening to help us only when necessary. The only regret was not having been able to enjoy the music and sound effects that are present in the live game and that would help to immerse even more in the game. The cost is fixed regardless of the number of players but it is absolutely not expensive. The value for money is therefore one more reason to try this experience. ______________________________________________________________ Anna M. The other day I played Unstoppable by Hourglass Escapes with the ETR crew. I really enjoyed our host and thought she was great. I liked that there were a variety of puzzles and they varied in difficulty. I also really liked that they used Telescape to give us a better view of the things in the room. I would recommend this escape room to players with beginning to intermediate experience. *** We regret to inform this game is no longer available for booking but check out other games on their website*** (If you do decide to try this experience, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) • House of Escapes - "Conspiracy"

LOCATION: Nuneaton, United Kingdom Photo above is property of House of Escapes and Salmon Crest Pictures πŸ“Β Β ETR DECODER πŸ”‘ GAME: Conspiracy πŸ“… DATE PLAYED: November 9, 2021 🎬 GENRE: Detective, Mystery, Immersive 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 6/10 πŸ‘₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-6 ppl (Recommend 4) (Ages 14+) πŸ•’ LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. πŸ’° PRICE: Β£20-30/PP (pending on the group size) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private πŸ”“ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes (45Min) πŸ“– THE STORY You are a team of crack detectives who have arrived at this building to investigate a bomb threat. But one of the offices here belongs to Richard Bishop - the son of your very own police chief. Is it a hoax? Just a coincidence? Or a real threat at the heart of your force? You need to investigate and make sure that you uncover the source of the threat, and discover if there is indeed anything to be worried about! Photo above is property of House of Escapes 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE There are two briefing videos. These took place in a separate room and made it feel like you were officially in the briefing room of a swanky police station! The first is a hilarious explainer video for what to do and what not to do in the room. The second is the official case briefing, in the form of a conversation between two officers. Once you leave the briefing room, what next? Well, you listened carefully to the briefing, right? On entering the main room, you may be forgiven for thinking you have accidentally wandered into one of the site’s regular offices, as it is perfectly set up as a modern office, not one padlock in sight, and everything looks totally in keeping with a regular workplace. Well, mostly ;) There is most certainly a sense of urgency throughout the game, driven by various clever environmental and sensory stimuli. It was always clear what we had to do at each stage, and there was plenty of information hunting, physical interactions, logic puzzles and cooperation to be done, which again made the game feel more like a real-life situation drama and less like a playground of combination locks. The tech used in this room is mind-blowing, and, we learned, all made and programmed by the owners. So impressive. No outside knowledge is needed, but there are some amazingly well woven in everyday concepts used in the gameplay that we hugely enjoyed. There is a brilliant hint system that felt so natural and again made the whole experience incredibly immersive and as if you were actually dealing with real life. Everything throughout the site is clean, neat and smart. Another testament to the hard work of the owners. After the game we met our GM Hannah who had been mysteriously hidden away behind the scenes until now, and we chatted for a long time to both of them. They are both just lovely. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK I had watched the trailer pretty soon before attending the game and there was one action shown being completed in the room in it which I felt gave me an advantage when I got to that part as I knew exactly what to do rather than discovering it myself. I passed this note on to the owners so that they could take action and it was a very minor thing - it actually made me feel even more like a detective afterwards, as if somehow I’d gained some β€œinsider info” but being such a clever element within the game it seems a shame to give it away ;) 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? There are very few times my jaw hangs open in response to anything - but this was one of those times (behind my facemask, obvs). From the unassuming entrance in a small arcade in a quiet Nuneaton street, you enter House of Escapes and ascend a grand purple carpeted stairway to THE most amazing space. High ceilings, wooden paneling, stained glass windows, a grand reception desk. Not to mention a large cupboard chock full of escape room and other board games which I was drawn to like a moth to a flame. Anyway, once you have stopped gawping at the majestic venue, you’ll be greeted warmly by one of the lucky team who run the place, and your experience begins. The Covid safety measures gone to by the team are top-notch. There are the usual sanitisers, facemasks etc, but if you can show your covid passport/vaccination card too and then you can go mask free. There are also Airsteril UV sterilisation units in the main public areas (games room and Escape Room itself) so straight away top marks for making sure it is a healthy and safe environment! This site is worth a visit for the beautiful building and wonderful owner/host/GMs Hannah and David alone! But then the game is just fantastic and there is a part 2 to follow soon, along with other games in the other rooms. I can’t wait to see where they take it next. If you have time when you go, chat to David about his other talents, and check out his book. Also, ask if you can see the building’s amazing secret feature that made me gasp with delight! ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO This is no ordinary sit in the lobby and then go to the room and begin experience either! We were taken to a large conference-style room and shown to a table, joined by our host, David. We were given the chance to purchase very reasonably priced drinks and cakes from a small menu, which was a lovely touch, and David took us through the vital information about what was going to happen. Part of this is a digital waiver form which is very easily done by beeping a QR code and filling in your details in a quick form. Payment for your experience and any tasty treats can then also be taken with a digital device. There are also free lockers and very grand toilets which you can use before you begin. A chance to ask questions, and then some final information and background to the room, and we were then given our official detective badges for the task at hand. Once armed with these, we were then officially on duty, and off to our next venue, the briefing room.... A large car park is very close by and free after 6pm. There is no lift in the building so two sets of stairs must be negotiated, but the room itself is all on one level and quite open. They have subtitles available on the briefing video should any of the team need it. They also check for any access needs and medical conditions before you begin to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience, so make sure to leave a good 2 hours for the whole experience. You will feel very looked after! The company also runs corporate events, game and cafe sessions, escape room in a box sessions, custom events and more, so consider them for any of your game and experience needs - I fully intend to go back for a big games party with loads of friends! It looks like a laboratory of some sort. How will you be able to get out of this place? Maybe the previous tenant has left you some clues... Above video is property of ESCAPOLOGIC πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΆπŸ…°πŸ…ΌπŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ…»πŸ…°πŸ†ˆ Our adventure started with an intro video of the backstory. Shortly after, our avatar started the game by giving us a tour of the room. This was nicely paired with a 360 view of the room in our Telescape inventory portal. The room was beautifully designed with a steampunk feel. There were a lot of intricate and interesting machines we had to "operate" on. The camera was a bit shaky at times when the avatar had to maneuver some of the props. We suggest getting a tripod so the players can also visualize what the avatar is doing from all angles. During the game play, there were notes that were found from various places (which were part of the backstory). We really liked that they added audio and music to the notes. This allowed the teammates to proceed at the same speed and enhanced the immersion. Above photo has been provided by ESCAPOLOGIC πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ†„πŸ†‰πŸ†‰πŸ…»πŸ…΄πŸ†‚ There were a lot of "search and find" components in this game. We appreciated the nudges the avatar was able to give us when we couldn't find some of the missing pieces. Finding items is quite a difficult task when playing the game remotely. It's great when an avatar turns on the "automation mode" when it comes to collecting clues for us. The puzzles were quite simple for experienced players and there were a few that felt repetitive in terms of design. ESCAPOLOGIC did inform us that they had to take away a few puzzles that couldn't translate to online mode. πŸ…²πŸ…»πŸ…ΎπŸ†‚πŸ…ΈπŸ…½πŸ…Ά πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…ΎπŸ†„πŸ…ΆπŸ…·πŸ†ƒπŸ†‚ I wish I could play this room in person. There's a lot of physical puzzles that we could only watch the avatar with jealousy. Base on the storyline, this room should have also had some eeriness which felt a bit lost during the online translation. However it was still enjoyable to see the special effects from the machines and cheer on our avatar as she definitely had to work those muscles! π”Όπ•Šβ„‚π”Έβ„™π”Όπ•‹β„π”Όβ„π•†π•†π•„π•–π•£π•€βœ β„™.𝕀.π•€βœ π•‹π•™π• π•¦π•˜π•™π•₯𝕀 David M. Contraption is a room that I would've loved to play in person due to the hands-on and interactive nature of some of the props and puzzles. The game felt like it was on the easier side, and a chunk of our time was missed seeing some important props in plain site that can happen due to the limitations of online games via zoom, but the puzzles felt like they belong in the game visually. At times the nudges felt a little too intentional both visually and verbally, and the actor seemed a little too cheerful for being in a life or death situation, but overall it didn't detract greatly from the experience. The clues were fed to us automatically without typing in codes really made their online inventory shine, making that part of the game felt seamless and perfect. The quality of that certainly matched the set decoration in the game, which was fantastic. The narration was also a very nice touch, leveling up the experience to make it feel more grand. Overall satisfying, fun, and great job! ______________________________________________________________ Klaudia Y. The feel of the room is fantastic - even when viewed online! With all the gear, cogs and mechanisms you do feel that you entered a mad professor's world, from which you need to escape. The Avatar host was great, she showed us around really smoothly and without spoiling the game. The room has many hidden spots, so when stuck make sure to have another look around, as we missed a thing or two the first time. There's a good mix of logic and physical puzzles, which keep you busy and entertained. One suggestion I have would be to perhaps limit the amount of additional decorative items, as they added a bit of distraction to our game. They normally complement the vibe of the room, which is amazing, but while playing virtually the whole group usually checks the room together (vs. real life escape game, where each player can explore the found items at their own time) and having decorative items found in different places makes the whole group come back to them a few times to check if they can somehow be used, costing time. All in all though, the Contraption room will keep you puzzling till the very end, with some surprises along the way, and I'm happy our group escaped with 10min. to spare! *** Call to book a remote room. That operation did not go well and all 5 criminals were captured. You and your team decided to give it a go since you think you're better than the others. Can you finish what the others couldn't ? The clock is ticking... Above video is property of ESCAPOLOGIC πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΆπŸ…°πŸ…ΌπŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ…»πŸ…°πŸ†ˆ Right after the intro video of the back story, our avatar took us inside the bank vault. If you think it looks like an actual bank vault that is because it's actually a REAL bank vault! At first glance, you might think there's not much for you to do but you'll get busy rather quickly. The set design really helped to establish that heist vibe as the avatar roams around between breaking into computer systems, opening secured areas and using tools to escape. We really enjoyed how we had to think outside the box in a real life situation on how to assist the avatar. The game is also paired with an inventory system through Telescape. This really helped us with being able to view the entire room in a 360 view setting. Since there are items that you will need to find during the game, it was helpful to be able to feel like you've discovered it yourself on the 360 incase you missed it on the avatar's camera view. Above photo has been provided by ESCAPOLOGIC πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ†„πŸ†‰πŸ†‰πŸ…»πŸ…΄πŸ†‚ This room had a lot of physical puzzles which quickly became our favorite part about the game. It was quite easy to relate the theme to what actions the avatar was taking. The high techs used in this room not only "wowed" us at the appropriate moments but also made sense being that we're in a highly secure bank vault. The toolkit that was provided at the beginning of the game was also a nice touch to connect the players to the heist job. We knew exactly what we had to do. We love the implementation of some of the puzzles. The utilization of all the props in the vault (even though it might not seem like you had to use it at the beginning) was well thought out. Right when we thought we're done and successfully escaped, we're presented with another challenge. All of our minds were blow away with this new area and had an unanimous "wow" moment. This bought us that satisfying smile on our faces while we watched the conclusion video. πŸ…²πŸ…»πŸ…ΎπŸ†‚πŸ…ΈπŸ…½πŸ…Ά πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…ΎπŸ†„πŸ…ΆπŸ…·πŸ†ƒπŸ†‚ This was definitely our favorite out of the two remote escape room experiences ESCAPOLOGIC currently have running online. They are new to the online world but definitely catching up quickly to the veterans out there. The avatar Ed did a great job guiding us through the room and the game flow was great throughout. We ended up having 14 minutes and 21 seconds left. I guess it does look like our team is better than yours huh? π”Όπ•Šβ„‚π”Έβ„™π”Όπ•‹β„π”Όβ„π•†π•†π•„π•–π•£π•€βœ β„™.𝕀.π•€βœ π•‹π•™π• π•¦π•˜π•™π•₯𝕀 Cheryl M. A solid game, and with the use of the telescape live platform, an enjoyable online play experience. The premise is a bank robbery, which made our mission clear and simple: theft. With heist-themed games, I’m always curious to know whether I’m on the side of good or evil. It was a tad unclear, but I believe we returned the valuable vault contents to the rightful owner. The code and lock puzzles made sense for a bank heist. The set had a several meaningful and even one big delightful object/element. Much of game set was black and white and sterile. Again, makes sense for the vault of a bank. In just a few places, it was a little challenging to actually see, particularly when the objects were black or glossy, but these were effectively explained or described to us. During half of the game, we were provided with a 360 degree map/view, but not the other half. It wasn’t necessary for game play, but I did feel a tad disoriented when it wasn’t there. Our Nottingham-based host/avatar was charming, even lightheartedly correcting our pronunciation. We say β€œZ;” he says β€œZed.” All chuckle. He moved swiftly and described his actions concisely. And he oriented us with the ensuing results to each action throughout. Smooth and pleasant. ______________________________________________________________ Jakal B. & Sarah S. This game was a lot of fun. It was really well designed, it had a good variation of puzzles that keep different levels of players engaged in the game, the avatar was really responsive and quick to complete tasks, and there were a lot of small wins that kept you excited throughout the game. All of which really help push you to your final goal and an ending which really fits your accomplishment. We feel The game had a really nice mix of electronic and physical components to it, and even though we were not completing the physical tasks, it had a sense of excitement to each one being completed to move forward. The use of an inventory system in the game was implemented very well and made it simple for us to see what we had on hand. We really liked that we were able to engage in trying to figure out puzzles that were not the main focus of the team at the moment. This gave a nice "live escape room" feel to the experience. The in game avatar was really good about doing everything that we asked and remaining to be a character with no outside knowledge. We would have liked for the avatar to come on screen and introduce themselves as a character instead of saying they were our avatar as the Game master running the game already explained how the avatar would be able to help us. The story of the game being a heist was well done and the decor of the room looked very authentic. We think that it could use a little more lead up to being in the vault. If the avatar could be coming down a corridor or even just opening the door to the vault it would definitely add to realism of the story. At the end of the game, We wish the final task had been explained in a bit more detail. We thought we were just escaping until we looked around a bit. (There is a chance we were told this information, but we were very excited and didn't hear what was said to us in the moment.) If there was more noise, or lights, etc to create a sense of urgency in those moments, and then our "source" got in touch with us I think it would have been a bit more clear. This would likely give a chance for the excitement to die down and everyone to be able to hear what's being said. Regardless of this, the ending for the game really tied everything together and made us want a part 2 of the game, leaving us ready to play another escape room immediately after this one. *** Call to book a remote room. You have been sent to help retrieve all of these artifacts from the mines before a bomb goes off, or you run out of oxygen! Video above is property of Cave Escape Nottingham 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The first task was to watch a video, cleverly presented on a projector of the age, and there will be more of these videos to find and watch as you progress. There was also a lot of reading to be done in the room, so task someone with narrating these or pass them around to get the full experience of the story. The puzzles were extremely well woven into the theme and the props so distractingly real that you want to just examine and admire them, rather than cast them aside and move on. Hints come via two brilliantly delivered methods, totally in keeping, and are delivered to you automatically to keep you on track. There are locks to open, puzzles to solve, as well some more challenging elements to the room where communication is key. There is a lot to do - and don’t be fooled by the apparent sparseness of the room - this cave holds many secrets! 🧩 MISSED THE MARK This room felt pretty solid to me. I have nothing to report in this section. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? When we arrived at Cave Escape, we had to buzz to enter, which gives you the feeling of arriving at a secret headquarters where you are there to accept your mission 😊 The lady in the lobby, Becky - was absolutely lovely, super friendly and happy to chat. The lobby itself is spectacular. A beautifully decorated large room adorned with the most amazing treasures and trinkets, you could spend a few hours just exploring up here, and we even relaxed here in between games! All this as well as the fact that their games are built into an actual cave system under the city makes this a very special venue indeed. Our GM, Chris, was in character and gave us our briefing upstairs, and then we descended some steep steps into the incredible cave rooms where our challenge lay waiting. We entered, and I was immediately blown away by the authentic feel and vintage paraphernalia in the room. We were given a few more instructions and then left alone to get cracking! We completed our mission with only just over 1 minute to spare! We were glad because obviously this gave us the maximum amount of value from the room, and there’s certainly enough to keep you going for that long. The fastest team has escaped in 33:42. History lovers will especially get a kick out of this room, and I definitely feel it’s one for adults rather than children, but no one could fail to be impressed by the attention to detail in this room, the effort made to bring in props and technology that blend seamlessly to give life to the story and authenticity to the experience. The effort gone to by the team is top-notch. Highly recommended. πŸ”Ž HINT My top tip for this room is to listen carefully, read carefully and make sure you are clear on the objectives - ask lots of questions! You’ve only just been located and brought in to complete the task - and you have only one hour left before - well, it doesn’t bear thinking about! Can you find the arrow in time?! Video above is property of ESCAPOLOGIC 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The game starts in the Sheriff’s rather grand office where he works and rests. But it is no ordinary office! Some items around the room reveal their secrets as you explore, and suddenly a secret that usually remains hidden is revealed. One of my favourite parts was not a puzzle at all but something you had to do to progress! There are some extremely clever reveals, backed by technology of course, but they still seem of the time and not out of place. The decoration and the environment of the room are spot-on, totally immersive and transport you to the age. There is a gentle music playing which adds to the atmosphere. The puzzles focus mainly on locks and manipulation of items and the environment rather than codes, logic puzzles or the like. Photo above is property of ESCAPOLOGIC 🧩 MISSED THE MARK It is very dark in the rooms. We resorted to turning our phone torch on at one point to see what we were doing! Of course this is all done on purpose for atmosphere so not really a criticism, just a heads-up! One puzzle was a little ambiguous and made us ask for our one and only hint (delivered in a clever way) - but we spent a lot of time on this going down the wrong route as the actual answer wasn’t that clear. Just a few more puzzles to do would be nice! We escaped in 31 minutes which was a great achievement but would have happily spent a lot more time in there doing things. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? The game is very linear, and there was just enough to keep the 3 of us busy. A lot of communication and working together is required, but the spaces are narrow and dark so it's good that it is limited to 5. This room will thrill any history buff, Robin Hood fan (and you're in Nottingham so you'd better be!) or looking for a very atmospheric room with some clever tasks and surprises. Video above is property of ESCAPOLOGIC 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE A very quaint living room in a 1920s mansion is your first port of call. Vintage furniture, artwork and decorations are perfectly chosen to make this room seem of a bygone era. This room has the most amazingly clever mechanisms and twists and turns. Literally! The puzzles in here are physical manipulations, information hunting and communication. Very good communication is required between team members which adds to the feeling of co-operation. There is a nice flow to the room and you can see what progress you have made via very obvious means. Puzzles include some clever use of objects that I hadn’t come across before in a room. Think outside of the box! 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Many of the triggers for a successful solve require the GM to manually activate something, and to progress you sometimes have to wait a short time to move on, where you might feel you’re not making progress. In their most difficult room, this feels like a hinderance, especially with so much to be done. If you are not on track though, hints will be delivered to you to make sure you are not falling behind time. You can hear their horror room - Butcher - being played next door. We never heard anyone actually scream but it could be a bit off-putting if they did! Photo above is property of ESCAPOLOGIC 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Working together is key here - there was more than enough to keep 3 of us busy together at times. Two player teams may struggle. Make sure you examine everything thoroughly - we suffered a little from seeing what looked like a puzzle and then diving in, without looking at the bigger picture first to see how things could be connected. This room is very quaint and fun - anyone should enjoy this room especially if you love retro and vintage style. Not really one for kids - the puzzles are difficult and require understanding of old technology which young ones will probably find baffling! As mentioned on the site and in the briefing, anyone who suffers any sort of motion sickness, vertigo or instability would probably not enjoy this room. Become immersed in the world of Warhammer and make your way from the passenger quarters through to the escape pod to depart the damaged ship Evadere before it is torn apart. Video above is property of ESCAPOLOGIC 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The game is immediately immersive from the offset - the outside of the room looks and feels like a spaceship, the part you enter for your briefing looks and feels like a spaceship, and the whole of the game indeed, feels and looks like a spaceship. The decoration is phenomenal and you can see that a lot of budget has been put into the environment and the atmosphere for this one, including lighting, sounds, special effects, props, movement, technology and more. This is most definitely an escape - not a room as such - but the urgency with which the soundtrack and the lighting instill in you is palpable. You feel like you really have to achieve the tasks to get off the ship - or else! You are helped along the way by Servitor - the pilot of the ship who is helping guide you to safety but is wounded. Go to him for help - he has lots to offer. The puzzles focus on physical manipulation of items and the environment rather than codes, logic puzzles or the like. Think keypads rather than padlocks. There is also a good level of communication required. A few more puzzles would be nice, especially if there are 5 people playing. We escaped in 32 minutes which was a great achievement but would have happily spent a lot more time in there doing things and feeling the rising urgency ☺ 🧩 MISSED THE MARK It is very dark in the ship. You will also need a good level of mobility as there are some very physical movements and actions required to get about the ship. Warhammer β€œlore” is that they had a lot of technology they didn’t understand onboard their ships. So if you don’t understand it either, or it looks like something that isn't completable or not actually useful - don’t waste time trying to figure it out, move on. The final part of the experience is a moving module which after I exited felt very lightheaded and dizzy. I’m not normally one for any sort of motion effect but this one did affect me. If it happens to you, tell your GM, sit down and close your eyes. It will pass. Photos above are property of ESCAPOLOGIC 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Pros should escape this room in a very short time so don't rush, just enjoy the authentic experience and good luck! This room will thrill any Warhammer fan of course, but also any general sci-fi fan, or anyone who has ever thought they would love the chance at escaping from a perilous situation (whilst never actually being in danger!) or looking for a very atmospheric room with some clever tasks and surprises. It does call for some dexterity as well as climbing and crawling, so a great one for kids just don't wear your best trousers!! Although a discount was generously provided, it does not impact our opinion on the review whatsoever. #HelenBailey #IRLescaperoom #EscapeRooms #SciFi #ESCAPOLOGIC #Nottingham #UnitedKingdom

With the help of the awakened Keeper, your team of Guardians must defeat the Mushroom king and save the world! Photos above are property of Headlock Escape Rooms πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΆπŸ…°πŸ…ΌπŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ…»πŸ…°πŸ†ˆ This game takes place entirely on Zoom with no additional website needed. Your Gamemaster takes on the persona of the Keeper in the form of an intricately crafted hand puppet who guides you across the land. The lands themselves consists of a series of dioramas from The Emerald Cave to Toadstool Village and more. The game starts with an introduction as you need to find the blade to stop Paxillus before beginning your journey to his castle. As you travel across the land to each location the Keeper is faced with new challenges that bars his way to Paxillus and your team of Guardians must help him. You also have an inventory board that you fill with weapons, potions, and more on your journey. I felt an old school video game vibe during my play-through that continued this fun level of nostalgia I felt from the set and style of the challenges set out for you. Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…΄ πŸ…ΏπŸ†„πŸ†‰πŸ†‰πŸ…»πŸ…΄πŸ†‚ The puzzles within the game take the standard components we’ve seen before but the video game style and the whimsical theme made them relevant and fresh to our eyes. Each puzzle presented itself as a trial for the Keeper to pass and they provided a nice variety of puzzles that utilized the setting well. I enjoyed the use of the inventory board and how each item worked to provide key clues for certain tasks. I also liked the puzzles that really utilized the hand puppet’s size as it reminded me maneuvering the Keeper as a video game character instead of thinking of it as the hand of the Gamemaster. In many ways this felt like a video game with puzzles rather than an escape room. There were two puzzles I felt could use a bit more sign posting but gentle nudges were provided and helped us move along. With a group of three, we completed it in around one hour and twenty minutes. The creator did explain that the time allotted is what they found most people needed. This isn’t about being the fastest to beat the game but, rather, the journey. πŸ…²πŸ…»πŸ…ΎπŸ†‚πŸ…ΈπŸ…½πŸ…Ά πŸ†ƒπŸ…·πŸ…ΎπŸ†„πŸ…ΆπŸ…·πŸ†ƒπŸ†‚ What makes this virtual escape room stand out for me is the uniquely designed dioramas on which your journey takes place. They are colorful, vibrant, and the aesthetic takes on a funky whimsical theme that is consistently seen and felt throughout the whole experience. Every new scene we entered I had to take the moment to just look around and admire the set design down to the little figurines that turned out to be characters you would engage with in adorable text conversations. Another facet that endeared me was the use of musical numbers that livened the experience during transition times. The songs are catchy, hilarious, and filled with puns that adults and children alike would enjoy. We encouraged the creator to share the sound score with players afterwards and they are considering it! "The Keeper & the Fungus Among Us" is a funky magical journey in a fantastical world with a nostalgic video game vibe any person could enjoy. The creative sets engage players and the clever use of music gives players the feeling that they were in more than just an escape room. You became a Guardian, a hero in the making, out to stop the evil infesting the land. Your tasks challenge your mind to not only think outside the box but also decide what kind of hero you truly want to be. Are you up for it?
