LOCATION: Longmont, Colorado, USA Photo above is property of Atlas Escape Rooms Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ย ย ETR DECODER ๐ GAME: The Dragon Egg 2.0 ๐ DATE PLAYED: August 29, 2022 ๐ฌ GENRE: Fantasy ๐ง DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl): 5.5/10 ๐ฅ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 3-8 ppl ๐ LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. ๐ฐ PRICE: $28.00/ pp (Min. of 3 ppl) โ๏ธ BOOKING TYPE: Private ๐ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes ๐ THE STORY After searching for 10 years, you've finally found the entrance to the secret lair of the Grand-Wizard Garius. Rumor has it, that the last remaining Dragon Egg is hidden within. Being that Garius is a powerful dark arts wizard, you know that the task of retrieving this egg isn't going to be easy. Will you get out in time? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE The puzzle flow was smooth throughout the game play. It's also great for teams as the puzzles were non-linear. There's a good mixture of various types of puzzles in the room. There were props in the room that looked like wizard's prized possessions from centuries ago, especially the magic books. ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK There's a decoder that we didn't end up using since we solve the puzzle by deduction. I wonder if that could be avoided somehow as it did cause confusion for us with the left over clue. This room had a safe that required a code and a key but the other room that we played opened with just the code. It might help to keep it consistent especially if players are playing both rooms back to back and this could be confusing as to how the box operates. Props such as a safe might not go with the wizard theme but perhaps decorating the outside to make it more like a wizard's treasure chest might resolve this issue. The ambiance of the room doesn't feel like a wizard's lair. We suggest dimming the lights and adding in some music. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? This escape room was build in-house with minimal tech involved. There's a lot of locks and keys and it's perfect for beginners and traditional escape room lovers. The owner has informed us that the demographic for his region are mostly beginners and the rooms are used a lot for corporate events. We can definitely feel that the puzzles are on the easier side for enthusiast. Although at first glance it may seem everything is in the open, it might not be as easy as it seems to locate the hidden chamber of the Dragon Egg. Dr. Rosen was doing important research at a secret lab to find a cure, when suddenly he disappeared. Your mission is to infiltrate the lab and see if A.S.T.R.I.D. an Artificial Intelligence computer is the reason behind his disappearance... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE The intro was a nice surprise. We totally didn't anticipate that was how we were going to be descend into the lab. Don't let the ordinary look of the laboratory fool you, there's actually a lot of hidden reveals that slowly unravels as we played through the game. The hint system in the latter part of the game was very different. We really enjoyed the interaction with the GM and the way the hints were delivered. Depending on the type of player you are, it could be seen as either scary or humorous. The sound and alerts were on point with all the interactions that was happening when certain items were triggered. There was a lovely "jump-scare" that happened during the game that reminded us that we are in a zombie apocalypse after all. ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK Because the owner wanted to make this game family-friendly, the room was really bright and there wasn't any gory type of props. We thought since this is a zombie apocalypse, this could definitely be a bit more eerie in terms of the ambience. We suggested to possibly have a "fear" version available for those horror fans out there. The input for solutions on the computer was confusing as some required caps and some didn't. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? This room is categorized as "scary" on their website, but for most people it'll be more like jump-scares rather than like haunted house scares. For us, we would have preferred the set design to be more eerie to accompany the theme better. But we understand it might not best suit their demographic. Although, we were really impressed by the tech and puzzles in this room especially when the build is all done in-house. The puzzle flow was definitely there and there were a few tricks with the tech that we haven't seen after playing over 750+ games. We loved the owners creativity and we can't wait to see what they come up with in their new room "Dragon Realm"! โน๏ธ ADDITIONAL INFO Free parking lot right in front Lobby area with seating available Lockers available Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) Currently, he is back at "The Homicide Hotel" and taking the lives of innocent people again! How can you convince the police that he's still alive? Hopefully you'll find the evidence you need before Robert finds you... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE Right from the start, we were immersed into the set design of this old hotel lobby. The intro was given over an audio speaker which made it feel even creepier since we don't know who's speaking to us and from where. Right after we've completed our paperwork for the check-in, we followed our "bellhop" to our hotel room down the spooky hallway. Just as described in the storyline, there were a lot of hidden chambers and passageways in this game. After playing so many room, we've gotten great at detecting where the door is to the next room. This game still managed to surprise us with a few hidden spots. We loved the hint system used in this room. It was so unique yet fit perfectly with the storyline. The set design was as if we walked into a 1940s Hollywood horror movie set. We started off in a normal looking hallway with a stairwell and the deeper we went, the more we thought "Did we just become those people that we would joke about when watching a horror movie on why they would go down this path and wrap themselves like a gift for the killer?" One of the puzzles had a multi-step solve where we had to assemble something in order to use it for another puzzle. This was really clever. The lighting and sound effect was also top notch. Everything was programmed to happen when it should. This made us feel like we were pushed through different scenes in a movie. ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK This is a minor thing but a timer on a device confused us as we normally would think it's an item that we shouldn't touch since it's counting down clock. This did waste some of our time. But other than that, everything hit the spot. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? If you enjoy horror and eerie but to an extent (no live actor or jump scares), this is the perfect game for you. It also has a detective and murder mystery vibe. The script is really want lures the players to come back. We learned things in this game that we couldn't wait to find out more in the next chapter (and there will be one!). When we entered the Homicide Hotel, the outside world disappeared. All we could think of was how not to be caught by this killer and make it out alive. This is what true immersion feels like! โน๏ธ ADDITIONAL INFO Free parking lot right in front. Lobby area with seating. Guests may be in a confined space. Recently, at the auction it was sold to Greg & Alice Williams in hopes to capitalize on its dark history. They named it "Homicide Hotel" and transformed it into an escape room business! You decided to be adventurous and voluntarily check yourself into "Room 303", the room that Robert always puts his next victims in. What could go wrong? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE Right from the start, we were immersed into the set design of this old hotel lobby. The intro was given over an audio speaker which made it feel even creepier since we don't know who's speaking to us and from where. Right after we completed our paperwork for the check-in, we followed our "bellhop" to our hotel room down the spooky hallway. Just as described in the storyline, there were a lot of hidden chambers and passageways in this game. After playing so many rooms, we've gotten great at detecting where the door is to the next room but this game still managed to surprise us with a few hidden spots. You can definitely feel the inspiration in the set design from H.H. Holmes. In this game in particular, we had a moment where we discovered a hidden passageway that gave us goosebumps. As we entered the room, we were instantly creeped out by the dim lighting, discolorations of the wallpapers, a bed that really hopes you would check underneath it, and of course they had to have a static TV. The lighting and sound effect was also top notch. Everything was programmed to happen when it should. This made us feel like we were pushed through different scenes in a movie. The hint system was to dial the phone to connect with the front desk. The creator was very considerate when implementing the audibility for the hint system for the entire team. Although we knew how one of the puzzles worked since we've seen it in other escape rooms before, it was the placement of the prop that made it a unique experience for us. ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK It would be great if the game master could play into character a bit more. We had the owner that day, so he probably doesn't normally GM as much. But a creepy bellhop/check-in person will definitely bring the experience to another level. If we had an actual key that we could put into the keyhole to open our own room, it would make the experience feel more authentic. One of the visual puzzles was a bit of a stretch to visualize. A puzzle that needed numbers didn't really give a clear order on how it should be read. Perhaps an added puzzle with a storyline could easily resolve that. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? The storyline for "Chapter 1 - Room 303" had us hooked right from the beginning. We couldn't wait to get into "Chapter 2 - Dark Heart of the Hotel", as they did a great job at providing a climactic cliffhanger. This game is perfect for me as I love horror-themed games, but I'm not a big fan of live actors and jump-scares. At times, we felt like supernatural investigators and others times, we were like detectives. Our mindset was focused on figuring out the truth the entire time. When we entered "The Homicide Hotel", the outside world completely disappeared. All we could think about was how not to get caught by this killer and make it out alive. This is what true immersion feels like! โน๏ธ ADDITIONAL INFO Free parking lot right in front. Lobby area with seating. Flashing/flickering (not strobe) lights may be present. You have to stop this at once. You decide to sneak into the shop when the owner goes out to lunch. But you only have one hour... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE Instead of having the game master explain the lock usage in the lobby, the prerecorded intro video did a great job with explaining the only locks that will be used in the room that you're about to play and how they worked. This is a great way to make sure all grounds are covered and that all the players received the same information every time. The set design started us off in an alley way where our first puzzle was to try to break into the shop. This was a clever way to start the game rather than just placing us inside. The shop was filled with spell books, wand boxes, magical creatures and more! It definitely had a Harry Potter vibe. There was a physical puzzle where we had to use the wand that was different than the intended way. The ending was quite surprising. It was a clever way of utilizing the story to create a "magical escape". ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK The intro video for the actual story could be done better with an actor in character or relevant footage to the storyline instead. I understand the set design is in a shop and we should be able to see outside but it was a bit distracting when all we see are Muggles. Perhaps utilizing shades or posters would make the shop seem more eerie and mysterious since the owner is "shady" after all. There were two spaces (an alleyway and a second room) that we felt could've been utilized more. Most of the puzzles were inside the shop. The second part of the game went by very quickly. Although the decor was on par, we felt that there weren't too many magical moments that could have happened with some added lighting, fog, sound and/or special effects (especially towards the end). There was a button puzzle that we thought could be better improved by having a certain logical reasoning behind the sequence rather than it just being randomized. For enthusiasts, it definitely made less sense but for beginners they might not mind it as much. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? This wizard themed room was on the easier side in terms of puzzles than the other games we've played in the past. There wasn't too much "mixology" or spells involved which is usually what takes up most of the time. From an enthusiast perspective, I wished there were more puzzles and bedazzling moments. It's a great beginner room and it'll definitely give you that opportunity to feel like a great wizard when you successfully rescue the creature from captivity! He wants to know if you're a worthy apprentice that can carry on his legacy. He has locked you inside his attic which is filled with peculiar things. Will you be able to pass his tests? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE There were a ton of puzzles in this room. Even when you think you've solved all of them, there'll still be bonus puzzles waiting for you. The puzzles were quite different than traditional ones that you encounter in an escape room. They were mostly riddles, word play, and visual challenges. It was interesting to see how our brains worked using a different perspective. If you get through to the end, there'll be a prize waiting for you. ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK Full disclosure, the reset was done incorrectly with our game, so we're not sure how fair this review is going to be. Since the puzzles were linear, it really messed up our game flow. This game is automated and the clues were given on the TV screen. We were unsure what we had done wrong as certain clues that we received were not in line with what we had in our hands. I'm not sure how I feel about the automated clue system in this case as we really needed assistance from the GM in situations like this. I would definitely prefer a GM watching us over the camera as well and giving us more specific hints to the puzzles that we are working on. The TV screen for the clues and hints were placed way too high. It was quite difficult to read as the words were pretty small and it was not comfortable for our necks to be looking up the entire time. Certain props looked like they needed to be updated. There was a huge table in the center of the room which was great for teams to sit down and work on something together. It could also be utilized as a prop for clues. But we didn't find much usage for it which felt wasteful. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? If you love puzzles and don't care much about the set design and immersion, then this is your type of room. To us, it felt more like a puzzle hunt rather than an escape room. Observation is a necessary skill that you'll need it in this game. With some tweaks in the "Miss The Mark" section, this room could definitely be used for corporate or team building events. I would probably market this as a puzzle adventure instead and definitely incorporate live game masters to host the games. With tons of board games and toys at this location, you can easily spend a good amount of time at "The Wizard's Chest" and find the "right wand" for yourself! Our very first room in The First State is "The Lost Tomb" at Escape Rehoboth. We decided to make the 3.5 hour drive to Rehoboth Beach and work our way back. As soon as we arrived at Escape Rehoboth, we were greeted with smiles and hospitality. We were fortunate enough to meet with the owners to learn more about the location. Their location is very close to the beach and they currently have four rooms available. There is a plenty of parking right in front of this facility. On the website, they specify that "The Lost Tomb" room is not wheelchair accessible and not suitable for players with epilepsy. The room design was amazing and definitely well constructed. The puzzles stayed true to the storyline and the kept the gameplay interesting. One of the unique things about "The Lost Tomb" was that we had to figure out a way to get inside the room (the tomb) in order to find something and get out. We managed to escape with two people. However, one of the puzzles was a bit harder to see because of the dim lighting, so it took us a while to figure that out. We wish that Escape Rehoboth was closer to us so that we could try their other games! Either way... we shall return! The room design was cleverly constructed with a good mix of technological and traditional puzzles. The storyline was definitely entertaining and kept us engaged the whole time. Our game master was great and extremely helpful. With one of the puzzles we managed to bypass a step and take the easier route. In the United States, there are two locations - Delaware and Florida. BREAKOUT and Novus is the first characters based real escape room game operator in the world which offers the combination of escape games with characters role-playing strategies. Each escape theme room is designed to have its own storyline, mindboggling puzzle, tasks, and stratagems that have to be completed within 45 โ 60ย minutes. The room that we are scheduled to play today is "Dreadnought". As we arrived, there was plenty of parking spaces available. The lobby decor was nice and showcased framed artwork of all the rooms at their location. Our room wasn't reset in time for our game which delayed the start time even though there was no one before us was no one before us. Although they utilized the space of the room design quite well, the decor was mediocre. As we were supposed to be on a ship, we didn't feel quite as immersed into the storyline as we could have. For the most part, the experience was entertaining up until the end. We didn't really feel like there was an ending to the story. Also, one of the "devices" that we found was defected and we needed the game master to come in and try to fix it. Although they paused our time, the device was unable to be fixed and they just handed us the key. We managed to escape with some time to spare but didn't feel like we got the full complete ending. LOCATION: Hilo, Hawaii, USA Videos/ Photos are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ย ย ETR DECODER ๐ GAME: Plantation Escape ๐ DATE PLAYED: April 11, 2019 ๐ฌ GENRE: Adventure ๐ง DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 PPL): 6.5/10 ๐ฅ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 6ppl ๐ LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins ๐ฐ PRICE: $34/PP โ๏ธ BOOKING TYPE: Private ๐ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes Hilo, Hawaii is our first stop on our Hawaii island cruise tour and "Escape Hilo" is the only escape room available on the island of Hilo. Hilo rains a lot and we experienced that first hand when we got off the cruise ship. This island makes a great escape room location for an indoor activity. Escape Hilo is located on the second floor of a building complex built in 1912. Inside the complex, there are quite a few selection of stores and restaurants providing plenty to do. The complex also has plenty of parking. It may be hard to find "Escape Hiloโ, but follow the sign and keep walking left all the way down until the end of the building (you will have to go down half a flight of stairs in the middle section). It'll be the last door to your right at the end of the hallway. We were grateful to have met the developer and owner of the location and at age 23, he's probably the youngest owner we have out of all the escape room locations yet to date. The lobby was very cozy and serves complimentary local drinks to the players. We can tell that he has a great passion for the island and escape rooms and how it was all incorporated in this first room. The room that we are attempting to escape today is called "Plantation Escape". Right from the start, we felt transported to a Japanese immigrant's home. There were many plantations then on the island and this one so happens to be built over an ancient Hawaiian โmenehune" wall. We won't divulge into any of the surprises that we've seen as the story developed, but we were pleasantly surprised at the turnover of events. He cleverly used many island-inspired puzzles in his escape room theme. The puzzles werenโt all linear, so you can get a group in there and divide and conquer in different areas although we suggest probably 4 people would be a perfect size. There's a puzzle in there that you could get stuck on if you donโt have prior knowledge of a certain skill, but the game master will definitely help out if you have any issues with that one. Overall, we really enjoyed the game as the puzzle flow went well with the storyline until the end. We hope that if you are ever in Hilo, definitely give them a try and we also hope to return to try out his new rooms in the future! - Solve The Room Hawaii - "Prohibition Era Bar"
LOCATION: Honolulu, Hawaii, USA Photo above has been provided by Solve The Room Hawaii ๐ย ย ETR DECODER ๐ GAME: Prohibition Era Bar ๐ DATE PLAYED: April 12, 2019 ๐ฌ GENRE: Mystery ๐ง DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 PPL): 6/10 ๐ฅ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 6ppl ๐ LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins ๐ฐ PRICE: $35/PP โ๏ธ BOOKING TYPE: Public ๐ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes Our second stop on the island of Honolulu was "Solve the Room Hawaii Escape Room". They are located in a building complex and the entrance is all the way to the left. The parking lot is to the right of the building. The escape room is on the 2nd floor with easy elevator access. The elevator opens up to their location as they have the full 2nd floor. The waiting area is very cute with a huge chalkboard for you to represent who you are and where youโre from (which we naturally did). There are also puzzles and games to keep you occupied while you are waiting. Currently, they have five escape room games at this location. We tried their "Prohibition Era Bar" game which sets the tone in an illegal bar during 1924's Prohibition Era. The storyline is that Al Capone came in the bar and shot a guy out of revenge and cops came after to raid the bar but you hid in the bathroom so you wouldn't get caught inside of the illegal bar. The good news is that you didn't get caught, bad news is you are locked inside the barย and now have to find a way to escape before the cops return! As the game starts, you feel like you've entered into a different era and the bar setting with bar supplies definitely adds to the surreal effect. For escape room enthusiasts, we felt the room was quite clear and easy to follow in terms of the puzzle designs and we were able to escape with two people with plenty of time to spare. For beginners, it could be challenging as there are some aspects of the puzzles that perhaps you would need some hints to get you going. Overall, we had a great time in this room and hopefully we will be able to try their NJ location one day as well! Check out our YouTube video above for a sneak peek at their location! *** We regret to inform this company has closed its doors *** *We don't want to go into detail and ruin any surprises for you, but you want more info like if the room is a multi-room or what other additional tips we can provide to you, feel free to email us. - Room With A Clue - "A Strange Case"
LOCATION: Honolulu, Hawaii, USA Videos/ Photos are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ย ย ETR DECODER ๐ GAME: A Strange Case ๐ DATE PLAYED: April 12, 2019 ๐ฌ GENRE: Sci-Fi ๐ง DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 PPL): 8/10 ๐ฅ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 6ppl ๐ LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins ๐ฐ PRICE: $34/PP โ๏ธ BOOKING TYPE: Public ๐ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: No Our fourth stop in Honolulu is at Room With a Clue. They are located in the Nimitz complex. The best way to get to the escape room is by going all the way to the end of the parking area, there's a ramp that goes up to the second floor. Go up the ramp and drive down until you see an area that you can turn left into, the escape room will be located to your right. There's plenty of parking up there. The lobby is cozy as they don't have much space but have a total of three rooms currently with a fourth one in the works. The owner builds everything in house and we were very excited to try this "Stranger Things" TV show inspired room theme - "A Strange Case". The story starts in a little town in the 1980s where strange cases of children beginning to vanish starts and as investigators we were sent by a mother of the last missing child to discover if we can find anything in his house for clues. There was a lot of puzzles that was cleverly designed that stuck with the 1980s times frame. I have to say, there were definitely some items in there that I was too young to remember but at least my "old" husband was able to recognize. Our rating on the puzzle difficulty level was based on 2 people as this room definitely have a lot to do and we would recommend a total of 4. Having someone with 1980s knowledge would also make the room a bit easier but without it it's definitely doable. There were definitely a few design aspects we really liked that we don't want to give it away and they were able to use the space of the room very well. Not much red herrings as pretty much what you see had to be utilized. We liked how they stuck to the storyline till the end. We really enjoyed their game and speaking with the owner and we can't wait to go back! Check out our youtube video above for a sneak preview on the interview and room designs! - Adventure VR - "Space, Magic, & Time"
LOCATION: Honolulu, Hawaii, USA Photos & Videos are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ย ย ETR DECODER ๐ GAME: Space, Magic & Time ๐ DATE PLAYED: April 12, 2019 ๐ฌ GENRE: Time Travel ๐ง DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 PPL): 6/10 ๐ฅ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 8ppl ๐ LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins ๐ฐ PRICE: $35/PP โ๏ธ BOOKING TYPE: Public ๐ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes Adventure VR is our last stop in Honolulu, Hawaii. They are located above a "bookstore" in Kaka'ako. There are stairs to take to the second level on the outside. Once you get upstairs, there's two sets of doors and they are the set of black doors to the right which has a little doorbell button that will have VR on it. Ring the bell and the adventure will begin! Currently, they have just the one VR escape game called "Space, Magic, & Time" which was all developed in-house. Their goal is to make many VR escape games for physical escape room locations to add on as a supplement to their escape room choices. Since this is our second VR experience, we felt kind of hooked! They currently have 8 spaces but the max the design of the game currently is for 4 people to play together although they can run two games simultaneously. Each player gets their own VR box so there won't be any bumping into each other situation. Currently their VR headsets are connected to a wire but they will be wireless soon as the wire does tangle as you move around in the game but we didn't find untangling it much of a bother in our game. "Space, Magic, & Time" starts out in a mission control center where you'll be given your first assignment. Each assignment gets harder as it progresses. There's a good mixture of puzzle solving and physical aspects to the game. At one point, we felt like we were actually shooting a real bow and arrow as there was tension felt every time we pulled back. We didn't feel any motion sickness although if you have a fear of height, I think you can definitely practice conquering that in the VR world first. As we get introduced to the VR more now, we can definitely see a trend of where escape rooms might head to next, not replacing but definitely an add on, to the physical escape rooms. - Kauai Escape Room - "Quest for the Lost Continent"
LOCATION: Kauai, Hawaii, USA Videos/ Photos are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ย ย ETR DECODER ๐ GAME: Quest for the Lost Continent ๐ DATE PLAYED: April 13, 2019 ๐ฌ GENRE: Adventure ๐ง DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 PPL): 8/10 ๐ฅ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 6ppl ๐ LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins ๐ฐ PRICE: $32-42/PP โ๏ธ BOOKING TYPE: Private ๐ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: No Our third stop in Hawaii is on the beautiful island of Kauai. "Kauai Escape" is once again the only escape game on the whole island. When you get to the front of the store, do not park in the front. They have a large parking lot in the back of their building. The lobby is a small waiting area but very cozy and colorful. We felt a sense of an "island welcome" right away. While waiting, there are plenty of merchandize for you to select from. The Tiki chocolate bars are a must try! Once all settled, we were bought into an archaeological site for debriefing. Right away we felt as if we became explorers in an Indiana Jones movie. Putting our exploration thinking caps on, we began to search and discover around the dig site. There were a lot of surprising elements throughout the game which we will not spoil here but definitely encountered a few puzzles we've never seen before and "tools" we had to use that was very surprising to us as well. As we "dug deeper" into the game, there were many other surprises that were revealed to us, especially from a set design aspect. The storyline was designed well with the ultimate goal and they sticked with their theme till the end. This room was quite challenging for two people as there are a lot of puzzles to tackle and we were puzzled by one of the clues given by the game master and that wasted a good amount of time so unfortunately we were very close to the finish line but didn't escape in time. We would say a group of 4 would be perfect for this game. The owners are a lovely couple who build these games in house. One is the brains for all the puzzle designs and the other a software engineer in charge of making the dream come true. We left with a big smile and a full stomach as we've visited their suggestions to the freshest Ahi Tuna Poke on the island ("Koloa Fish Market"), most flavorful coffee spot with 20+ free coffee samples to try ("Kauai Coffee Company") and last but not least the best shaved ice on the island ("The Fresh Shave")! We will definitely be back to try their other rooms and what more this island has to offer! Check out our YouTube video above for a sneak peek of the location, interview with the owner, and the room below! ** UPDATE - We regret to inform you that "Kauai Escape Room" has closed. - Submerged Maui - "Pele's Stone"
LOCATION: Maui, Hawaii, USA Photos above has been provided by Submerged Maui ๐ย ย ETR DECODER ๐ GAME: Pele's Stone ๐ DATE PLAYED: April 14, 2019 ๐ฌ GENRE: Mythical ๐ง DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 PPL): 6/10 ๐ฅ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: Up to 8ppl ๐ LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins ๐ฐ PRICE: $49/PP (public) or $299-392/Team (private) โ๏ธ BOOKING TYPE: Public/Private ๐ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: Yes This is our last stop in Maui, Hawaii. Submerged Maui is uniquely located in the Wailea Beach Resort - Marriott. The drive to the escape room had us enter into this little hidden oasis of Wailea accompanied by beautiful golf courses. As we pull up to the hotel, the beautiful open air lobby got our attention right away. Valet is complimentary if you are here to play Submerged and they will validate it for you. The hotel also has other vendors like souvenir shops, Starbucks, and restaurants. You can definitely relax and spend some time here. You can walk to the beach from the stairs of the hotel in the back. Submerged Maui has a desk just to the left of the valet area. We envied the owner's everyday working condition as we don't mind NOT escaping from here ever. Once we enter the submarine structure, we were debriefed with a video explaining our mission. We were suppose to retrieve the Pele's Stone to complete our mission. As our adventure began in the deep sea, there were numerous exciting puzzles which led to different "effects" that would happen as we completed the puzzles. This definitely felt like a film production quality set design.ย The sound, lights, lazers, fog effects all played its part perfectly. The game puzzle pieces used were all well made as well and there was a good mixture of key locks and the puzzles were not difficult as the instruction book was quite clear to follow. We felt that this escape room was meant for players to have fun rather than challenge them with difficult puzzles so that they can't escape. We enjoyed this as it was the story that intrigued us with this well designed room. We were able to escape with time left to spare so whether you come with a small group of experts or a large group of newbies, you'll all be able to enjoy the game. Currently, the owner doesn't have another room in the works but we look forward to trying anything that they will come up with in the near future!
