Read our reviews on the " Under Pressure " , " Budapest Express " , " TH3 C0D3 " and " Antidote " rooms in Garwood, New Jersey in order to find out more about this escape company. One thing that we really appreciate about Escapology Escape Games is the level of quality in their customer service and their decor. Since it is a franchise, they are required to provide a vintage decor to their lobby theme. In comparison, the Garwood, NJ location is a lot more spacious than Orlando, FL in the lobby area and the escape rooms themselves. The fifth room that we are attempting to escape is the "Mansion Murder" room. We've heard mixed reviews about this room from other escape room enthusiasts. But since our motto is to "escape the rumors", we decided to find out for ourselves. Usually when we experience murder-themed rooms, we automatically expect a sense of eeriness when we are playing the game. In this case, we didn't get that feeling of mystery and suspense. The decor felt dated and could've used an upgrade in certain areas. The puzzle designs were entertaining and went well w/ the storyline. One thing that you can count on Escapology to have is technology incorporated into their rooms and they did not fail to deliver. Today, we are super excited to arrive at one of the original \Escapology locations β Fort Lauderdale! This facility had a great location right on the main strip β Beach Boulevard across the street from the beach and inside a mall complex. Because itβs a mall, thereβs a parking garage located in the basement. Thereβs a ramp for handicapped access and escalator/ elevator options to reach the entrance located on the third floor (top floor). As expected from Escapology, customer service is top notch once you enter the door! The dΓ©cor is consistent w/ the other locations providing a vintage look and feel. This Fort Lauderdale location is quite large boasting 6 rooms to choose from. They also have a party room available for private events. Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Today, we are scheduled to try two of their rooms β βShanghaiedβ and βArizona Shootout!β. Since, their βShanghaiedβ room is one of their older rooms, itβs not available at every location so it was great that we were able to book this one. As usual, the dΓ©cor of the room did not disappoint. Although there was less technology incorporated into this room than weβre used to from Escapology, the puzzles were interesting and went along with the storyline. Next upβ¦ β Arizona Shootout! β. Photo above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Our next room β β Arizona Shootout β is also one of Escapologyβs older rooms. The dΓ©cor of this room definitely set the tone for the storyline. There wasnβt a lot of technology implemented into this room which made everything seem pretty straight forward. In comparison to the other rooms that we've tried from Escapology, "Arizona Shootout" is our least favorite. The puzzle designs and the riddles were fairly basic. We felt that some of the locks and obstacles could've been more challenging or time consuming. We managed to escape with just the two of us in 36 mins & 30 secs putting "ESCAPETHEROOMers" at the top of their leaderboard. Thereβs no such thing as a free lunch. Once you arrive, you realize heβs a powerful drug lord and the only reason he wanted you to come is to be his drug mule and help him deliver his next shipment to the US. Will you join his operations or gather evidence and turn him into the police? The clock is tickingβ¦ Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE There werenβt too many red herrings in the room. Everything had a purpose. Various types of puzzles were present. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK This is one of the rooms we felt that Escapology felt short on regarding the set design. We thought we would be inside of a billionaireβs mansion in the Caribbean. We didnβt really feel the βwealthβ nor βislandβ vibe. One of the puzzles had numbers we needed to see for a code, but it was really faded. Some props definitely felt like they needed an update. In the latter part of the game, there was a prop that didn't really look like it had any relevance to the room. We weren't sure why it was there. Some puzzles were a far stretch in terms of the thought process. We had to use a clue to link them together but still felt like it didnβt have much to do with the story line. We had games with choice endings before, but we didnβt feel a βwowβ moment with this one. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? This was a challenging room even for enthusiasts. We suggest you gather a large team to divide and conquer this room. This room wasnβt our favorite in terms of the set design or puzzles. We have definitely had much better reviews on other Escapology rooms before. The good news is that Escapology Las Vegas has a total of 13 games between their two locations. We are sure youβll be able to find your favorite. One thing that is consistent with Escapology is their excellent customer service. We hope to complete our collection of their roomβs bracelets one day! - Escapology Escape Rooms (Fort Lauderdale) - "7 Deadly Sins"
LOCATION : Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA Photo above is property of Escapology Escape Rooms (Fort Lauderdale) Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : 7 Deadly Sins π DATE PLAYED : November 21, 2021 π¬ GENRE : Detective, Thriller π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 7.5/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-8 ppl π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins. π° PRICE : $34.99-38.99/ pp (pending on weekday or weekend) βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Private π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY In the late 19th century, the sinister minister of Crickley Church killed his entire congregation. After they confessed their sins to him, his fractured mind believed that they committed the 7 Deadly Sins. During communion, he distributed poisoned bread and wine to punish them. He then buried himself in one of the crypts hell bent on haunting Crickley Church forever... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE I like the fact that we had to figure out our way in first utilizing what we have from the outside. As we entered into the premise, it felt like we are getting closer and closer to what we are looking for as the scenery of the set design changes. There was a special effect moment during the game that caught our attention. We did enjoy putting the "spirits" to rest. The ceiling height really made a difference especially in one of the rooms as it made us feel like we're actually in a church. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK From the theme and storyline, the room should be a bit spookier than what it is. Perhaps some lighting or sound effects could help with this. Some puzzles in here really needed some out of the box thinking and didn't really have clues to lead us to associate the items together. We got a little too much assistance from the game master which actually hindered our game play since we didn't really have time to think. You might want to ask for clues to be given to you only when you ask for them. There was one decryption puzzle at the end that required something that could be interpreted in two ways from the riddle. We were confused by the wording. Some puzzles didn't feel like they were related to the storyline and were just merely added in for puzzle sake. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? The name of the game made us think the focus was going to be on 7 Deadly Sins but it was more on the haunting and figuring out how to get rid of the curse. The puzzles had potential but were confusing to us as some could be interpreted in more than one way. We felt like we were definitely not thinking in line with the creator's mind that day as this room took a lot more hints than we would usually ask for. I would suggest not wasting any time if you're stuck on a puzzle as there's actually quite a good mount of work that will require spending time on. If you are good at solving mysteries then check out "Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express" which is murder mystery themed escape room at this location (of course they have 5 other rooms as well). - Escapology Escape Rooms (Fort Lauderdale) - "Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express"
LOCATION : Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA Photo above is property of Escapology Escape Rooms (Fort Lauderdale) Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express π DATE PLAYED : November 21, 2021 π¬ GENRE : Detective, Murder Mystery π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 8/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-8 ppl (Recommend Ages 10+) π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins. π° PRICE : $38.99-43.99/ pp (pending on weekday or weekend) βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Private π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY You are Detective Poirot and you have just solved the murder of Mr. Ratchet! As you are about to conclude your investigation, new evidence shows one of the passengers aboard the Orient Express has a more sinister plan... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE The set design was beautiful. As soon as we embarked on the train, we feel like it was actually moving. It was refreshing to see the changes as we go through the train cars. The props and furniture were well maintained. Everything felt brand new. There were a mixture of deduction, logic, Math and physical puzzles in this room, giving us an opportunity to divide and conquer. As we got closer to the end, we felt the sense of urgency. You really can't brute force the answer here so make sure you have time to read through all the evidence. Breaking out at the last minute made the victory felt even sweeter. The ending task provided a nice closure. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK One of the keys had to be reused for another lock. There are also empty slots that caused some confusion as we weren't sure why we had to use that key again and why the first drawer we looked into was empty. There's a location where we had to examine evidence in a glass display. The lighting there makes it pretty difficult to read. A spotlight in the area would be very helpful. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? We've played " Budapest Express " at Escapology's Garwood location in New Jersey and this room had a similar layout but the puzzles and set design has been completed redesigned. This game has more of a "Clue" type of feeling especially when it comes to deducing the murderer at the end. The organization of the evidence and motive was more clearly presented. This game is definitely an upgrade from "Budapest Express". We can see the added embellishments to the props, storyline and characters. If you are a fan of Sherlock Holmes or any type of crime investigation show, you'll feel like a real detective in this room. And if you have more time (the temptation from the shopping mall and the beach is REAL), check out their other rooms (they have 6 other games here!). We played "7 Deadly Sins" here as well. - REMOTE: Escapology Escape Rooms (Las Vegas - Maryland Pkwy) - "Cuban Crisis"
Photo above is property of Escapology Escape Rooms (Las Vegas) Company: Escapology Escape Games (Las Vegas - Maryland Pkwy) Game: Cuban Crisis Country: USA πΊπΈ Language: English Type of Game: Remote Escape Room π£ Genre: Espionage, Thriller Date Played: June 2, 2020 Difficulty (based on 3 players): 7/10 Size of Team: Coming Soon Time: 60 Minutes Price: $29.00/ pp Video above is property of Escapology Escape Rooms (Las Vegas) Escapology is going to have a remote escape experience soon! We've recently beta tested their " Cuban Crisis " game which is being hosted at the Las Vegas location. We were CIA field operatives and our mission was to infiltrate Fidel Castro's palace, locate the secret KGB office, and found out who was responsible for shooting down the American plane. This was the first remote escape room we saw using the the split screen inventory in the zoom app. It was quite useful to not have to toggle through different tabs and to be able to have zoom open to a full screen (if you are using a single device). The only downside was that only one item was able to be shown each time. So, if you wanted to take a look at another item, the game master will have to swap it out for you. It still worked fine throughout the game but hopefully Escapology would be able to come out with a solution where multiple items could show up all at once. The camera also felt a bit shaky but since this was beta testing, we hope the issue would be fixed during the actual launch. The game consisted of a good amount of puzzles and kept us busy for almost an entire hour. Most of the puzzles stuck to the story line of war related theme. There were many decoding opportunities and we were very glad to have a "real" agent with us who can decode without looking at the "cheat sheet"! One of the puzzles didn't feel like it belonged and was quite confusing to us so hopefully that will get revised when the game launches. We've always enjoyed Escapology's professionalism as a company and have played many of their on site escape rooms. We hope to see more remote escape room ideas come to live from them! *** We regret to inform this game is no longer available for booking but check out other games on their website *** (If you do decide to try this game, please remember to let them know that you heard it from" ESCAPETHEROOMers "!) - Escapology Escape Rooms (Las Vegas Town Square) - "Who Stole Mona?"
LOCATION : Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Photo above is property of Escapology Escape Rooms (Las Vegas Town Square) Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Who Stole Mona? π DATE PLAYED : August 25, 2022 π¬ GENRE : Detective π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 4 ppl) : 5/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-8 ppl π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins π° PRICE : $39.00/ pp βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Private π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY Someone has stolen the world-famous art piece by Leonardo Da Vinci, the "Mona Lisa"! The Louvre is offering $50 million dollars as a reward for anyone who can bring it back. Your intel is telling you that Vladirmir Stepanov, a dangerous businessman could be hiding it in his private gallery. Since the reward is extremely high, you decided to give it a shot. But if you get caught, it'll be all for nothing. Time is of the essence! Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE The room was quite spacious just like an art gallery should be. There were 4 of us and we each took on a maze puzzle (4 in total) which was quite fun since we felt like we had a little internal competition. There was a mechanism in the room that was cool to watch when triggered. It felt like a secret prop that was hidden by this private art collector. You actually got to read a little history behind the items/paintings in the room. It was a smooth way to transition them into puzzles. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK The ambience/lighting felt the same throughout the game. We thought perhaps at the end when we triggered the painting something would have changed. There was also no sound to accompany the experience. It was missing a "wow" ending. Being that this is a single room experience, we completed it quite quickly. Secretly we wished there were more puzzles or something that would give a secret reveal. Although I think previously the room did have more puzzles as there were some props in the room that we didn't use and the GM has informed us that those puzzles no longer work. We think it's best to take it out or fix it as currently it's seen as more of a red herring. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? This game could be a great beginners room for people that want to attempt an escape room. Although it's more on the traditional side, you'll get a sense of how to associate items with each other and how some standard escape room puzzles work. For enthusiasts, it might be on the easier side, but you'll still get that lock opening satisfaction. Take what you absorbed in this room and give their " Star Trek: Quantum Filament " a try! βΉοΈ ADDITIONAL INFO Free parking in the mall area. - Escapology Escape Rooms (Las Vegas Town Square) - "Star Trek: Quantum Filament"
LOCATION : Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Photo above is property of Escapology Escape Rooms (Las Vegas Town Square) Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Star Trek: Quantum Filament π DATE PLAYED : August 25, 2022 π¬ GENRE : Sci-Fi, Space Mission π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 4 ppl) : 7/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-6 ppl π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins π° PRICE : $39.00/ pp βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Private π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY It was supposed to be a fun day where you and your crew board the U.S.S. Discovery to give it a routine check up before sending this 23rd century state of the art Star-fleet for an upgrade to the modern 32nd century standards. Suddenly, the bridge has informed you that the ship has just collided with a quantum filament causing major damage to many places. Will you be able to repair the ship in time and save all the crew members? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE This was one of our favorite set designs from ESCAPOLOGY so far. As we entered the room, it literally felt like we were on a spaceship. There were manuals and screens on the walls, many types of buttons and doors that would open up to other chambers. The sound effects and lighting made the emergency protocol felt even more real. If a little hydraulics could've been added underneath the floor to mimic the turbulence, it would have been perfect. There's a lot of puzzles that were designed to incorporate teamwork. Even with a group of 4, we really needed to work together. Although some puzzles could be solved simultaneously, most would require at least a pair to pass information to each other. Since we were a team of engineers, it made sense that we were supposed to work together. The props were pretty futuristic. Items that we had to connect together looked like they belong on a spaceship and the input devices were also all high tech. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK There was an interesting puzzle that gave us a limited time to solve. We didn't end up completing it in time, but I wondered if we did. Would it have been a bonus mission? If any of our readers did, please email us and let us know what happens! Somehow the game just automatically bypassed that puzzle once the time was over so we didn't actually get to solve it. The writing board we received wasn't working properly since it wouldn't erase what I've already written. This device is quite important in this room as there was some math and logic puzzles that definitely needed to be written down. So make sure you got a working one. We found one of the puzzles confusing as the marker for where we had to measure wasn't exact. Also the prop that we had to use was missing a few pieces so we weren't sure if it was even working properly (we ended up holding it up with our hands and it worked). πΉ TAKE A SHOT? The initial space was quite small and we really think 4 people is the optimum number for this room. We definitely appreciated that the game master had informed us that a "certain input device" will be used multiple times as this is also quite rare in an escape room design. But since we're on a spaceship and the device could be seen as "the motherboard", it made sense. Observation was key in this game as screens and props were constantly changing. We do think this is definitely a step-up for ESCAPOLOGY's games as normally their routine is to enter a code and escape out of the door. But this time the code actually had a purpose and storyline. We felt that we repaired the spaceship and brought ourselves and the crew members to safety. This game is definitely on the harder side, so pick your strongest crew members and head on over to the U.S.S. Discovery now! βΉοΈ ADDITIONAL INFO Free parking in the mall area. Β Yes π THE STORY It's 1944 during World War II and you're onboard the US Navy's submarine - "The Steel Shark". Your mission is to venture off deep into the North Atlantic Ocean to spy on the German Battle Cruiser, Scheer. Suddenly, the submarine begins to plunge to the depths of the sea. Can you determine the cause and more importantly, bring the submarine back to the surface? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE The last time we played " Under Pressure " was 4 years ago. At that time we didn't escape and we were one puzzle away. T his time, we felt the same adrenaline rush again as we were getting down to the wire but managed to successfully escape in time! "Under Pressure" was the first submarine-themed game we ever played and the set design still competes with other company's today. The large windows looking out to the sea, the lighting, and the props all contributed to the experience. At times, you'll also hear the siren and the warning timer that tells you how many minutes you have left before your oxygen runs out. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK Some of the props felt like they needed some updating due to wear-and-tear. Some of the puzzles required logic leaps. If we weren't changing our mentality to just try everything, we might not have gotten the solution without a hint. For the majority of the game, the room's lighting is pretty dim. Although, one flashlight can be discovered along the way, it might be better to provide at least 1 per two players as a large group (the website says you can accommodate up to 10 people) will have issues with sharing just one. The final puzzle needed some sort of confirmation on how many it needed for a solution as the reveal was confusing as it could be read in various ways. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? We were vacationing with the family at the all-inclusive resort - Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana and we of course had to look for an escape room and we were so happy to find an Escapology on the premises! Although we've played almost all of the Escapology games already, not escaping this one was always at the back of our minds. The owner was very accommodating to let us play (although we pretty much don't remember any of the puzzles at this point). If you need your escape room fix, this is pretty much the only location in the Dominican Republic! Currently, they have 3 games - " Under Pressure ", " Antidote ", and " Narco " but will be bringing a 4th one to their facility soon - " 7 Deadly Sins "! Not only were his explorations legendary, but he documented every adventure along the way. Archibald's last discovery was an abandoned temple in The Lost City where he unearthed a secret treasure! Sadly, the temple door slammed shut, trapping him inside until this day!! With his journal, can you locate the treasure and escape the temple before it's too late? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE The temple vibe in " Lost City " was clearly portrayed by the Mayan symbols, tree vines and accent lighting throughout the room. There were some cool tech gadgets added in the room that made us feel like we found secret triggers inside the temple. The placement of the reveals were great as it was easily spotted by our team. The puzzle flow was nice. We kept going without needing hints. All the clues were very clear. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK The exit could be done in an immersive way rather then entering a code as it doesn't really fit the Mayan theme. Certain locks felt not in line with the time period. It was too high tech to be in an ancient temple. One trigger was really sensitive. We didn't solve the puzzle but the box popped open on its own. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? I love temple themed escape rooms as they always provide that mystery feeling. This room definitely gave that vibe right when we entered. Everyone was hidden until you peel the secrets away. This room is great for newbies as the puzzles were not too difficult but still need the players to connect the dots with the items that they discovered. If you are into exploration and puzzle hunts, then definitely give this room a try! βΉοΈ ADDITIONAL INFO Free parking lot in front of facility Lobby area with seating and games Merchandise available for purchase Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from " ESCAPETHEROOMers "!) Gotham City, a city overrun by crime and injustice, is in urgent need of heroes. Batman has launched a new training program for Gotham City Guardians in response to the increasing threats. You have been specifically chosen to participate in a challenging new training session aimed at helping you exceed your limits, apprehend criminals, and uphold justice alongside the Caped Crusader. In order to demonstrate your capabilities, you must compete in a demanding training exercise devised by Batman. Are you ready to accept the challenge? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE I love the idea and plot of training the recruits to support Batman in rescuing Gotham, rather than immediately thrusting them into the mission. This approach allows players to undergo the same demanding training as Batman by conquering challenges and staged scenarios that he has set up for them to experience. Being a fan of superhero games, I really value the opportunity to immerse myself in a top-notch set design. We acknowledge that not all companies can achieve high-quality production design. Escapology excelled in creating the set for " Batman: The Dark Knight Challenge". Not only did it look like a sophisticated training academy, but it also truly felt like one. Watch our trailer video above to get a glimpse of what we mean! The puzzle challenges were distinctive and aligned well with the game's overarching mission. Players were required to become acquainted with Batman's weapons and utility belt, as well as analyze information. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK After being stuck for around 10 minutes trying to work with the resources we had, we discovered that the next item we needed was already unlocked and accessible. It would have been helpful to receive a notification or a hint from the game master when it became available. Although several events were triggered, there were no accompanying notifications. We proposed incorporating light or sound effects to indicate these occurrences. One of the puzzles failed to activate, leading to further confusion as we questioned whether we were approaching it correctly. There was a puzzle based on subjectivity that we mainly solved through trial and error. We would have preferred a more logical approach to solving it. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? Our current top pick among Escapology games remains " Scooby-Doo and the Spooky Castle Adventure ". The game's captivating blend of mystery-solving and eerie ambiance truly transports us into the world of Scooby-Doo and his pals. However, a new contender has emerged that is on the verge of claiming the top spot. " Batman: The Dark Knight Challenge " offers a distinctive gaming experience by plunging players into the realm of Gotham's masked vigilante, Batman. One of the standout features of this game is its innovative incorporation of a "training program." This feature allows players to embody Batman himself, gaining valuable insights into the challenges and scenarios he encounters while safeguarding the city. The training segments not only enhance the game's realism but also provide a deeper comprehension of the skills and strategies needed to be a superhero like Batman. As we traverse the virtual streets of Gotham City, we are not only enthralled by the exhilarating gameplay but also find ourselves delving deeper into the enigmatic persona of Batman. The meticulous attention to detail in replicating Batman's universe heightens the immersive quality of the game. Each mission and puzzle we tackle feels like a piece of a larger narrative, amplifying the satisfaction of every triumph. βΉοΈ Β ADDITIONAL INFO Street parking with meter or garage near by Lobby area with seating and games Merchandise available for purchase Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from " ESCAPETHEROOMers "!) - Escapology Escape Rooms (Fairfax) - "Antidote: Chemical Warfare"
LOCATION: Fairfax, Virginia, USA Photo above is property of Escapology Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Antidote: Chemical Warfare π DATE PLAYED : June 4, 2024 π¬ GENRE : Thriller π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 4.5/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-8 ppl π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins. π° PRICE : $79.98 (2 ppl) - $319.12 (8 ppl) βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Private π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY Dr. Walter Brandt is a prominent chemical weapons expert working for the United States government within a clandestine division identified only by a cryptic code. He has been creating highly potent viruses designed to swiftly and accurately eliminate enemy forces. Dr. Brandt's groundbreaking research has attracted the attention of foreign nations, who have lured him to develop a lethal virus capable of swiftly killing their adversaries. Having gone rogue, he now poses a threat to the US and potentially humanity as a whole. As a team of scientists exploring Dr. Brandt's deserted laboratory, your mission is to locate the sole known antidote to virus TS-51 before it falls into enemy hands. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE Upon our entrance into the lab, an urgent message began to play, immediately conveying the importance of our mission. The decor perfectly complemented the atmosphere of a clandestine laboratory filled with hidden mysteries. We particularly enjoyed the multi-step deduction puzzle in this game, as its content and logical reasoning were coherent. Instead of a "key escape," the finale was mission-oriented, and we found great satisfaction in successfully completing it. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK It would be beneficial to remove decorations that could be seen as red-herrings. The 60-minute room seems to lack sufficient puzzles. Had we not come across some perplexing clues, I would have anticipated making our escape sooner. Some puzzle inputs lacked clear directions, causing confusion about the correct order (left to right or right to left). An image used as a clue was unclear regarding the quantity it referred to. Additionally, one of the clues was hard to see. An image clue clearly indicated a specific input amount, but the lock did not correspond to the solution. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? The set design and special effects in the room truly stood out as remarkable aspects of the experience. The attention to detail and creativity in creating an immersive environment were commendable, adding a layer of excitement to the overall atmosphere. However, while these elements shone brightly, the puzzles presented a different challenge. It was evident that some puzzles lacked the finesse needed to seamlessly integrate into the game. The flow of the game seemed disrupted at times, requiring a smoother transition between tasks to enhance the overall gameplay. There were instances where the inputs provided did not align well with the puzzle clues, leading to confusion and a sense of disconnect for the players. Moreover, one particular puzzle proved to be excessively intricate, posing a significant hurdle in terms of interpretation and completion. In comparison to their previous Antidote game, some players may find themselves longing for the familiarity and satisfaction that the older game offered. βΉοΈ Β ADDITIONAL INFO This game is an updated edition of their previous game " Antidote ". The town and the surrounding areas have been haunted by monsters and ghosts and it's been suspected that the ghouls might have something to do with it! Your team and the gang at Mystery Incorporated are tasked with searching inside the Spooky Castle to find out what happened! Unfortunately, once you and your team step inside, the door closes behind you, locking you in while Mystery Incorporated have been locked out! Luckily, the gang is still able to help you out in a magical way...As you venture on, you discover the source of WHERE this evil has been created! Now you must figure out WHO it's being created by? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers π― HIT THE BULLSEYE First of all, I'm a huge fan of Scooby-Doo and when I found out that Escapology was creating a room for it, I was super excited! But on the flip side, I also had a lot of expectations as the bar was set pretty high to deliver something so iconic! Luckily, Escapology did not disappoint and and we were really impressed with the set design AND the puzzles! The storyline was a lot of fun, creative, and mysterious at the same time and bought back memories of the TV shows we watched when we're young (Who am I kidding. I still watch them whenever they are on TV). If you think about it, Scooby and the gang were essentially escape room enthusiasts solving puzzles and finding out a way to escape. Creating a live in-person experience was a no-brainer! The set design felt like we stepped inside one of their cartoon episodes and got to be part of the gang at Mystery Incorporated. The dark blue colors and fireplace glow effect definitely gave it a spooky castle look. The puzzles had us using pretty all of our senses. Smell was even part of one of them! We also really enjoyed the usage of the Scooby snacks. 𧩠MISSED THE MARK We're pretty happy with the entire experience. If we had to nitpick, there was one puzzle that we had to assume a certain way of how a route would have went but there seems to be multiple interpretations as Cici was confused about it but I was able to figure out the right path. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? Don't be fooled by the cartoonish look, the puzzles were actually pretty challenging and there's a lot to do in the hour. We actually had to really concentrate and continuously solve puzzles to escape in time (I think we had about 10min left). For beginners, we suggest having at least 3-4 people. Anyone that's a fan of the Scooby-Doo will not be disappointed playing this game! But even if you are not a fan of the cartoon, you'll still have a great time. This room is great for kids but also adults who wants to be a kid again! If you still want some more entertainment after the escape room, head over to their sister company Wamesit Lanes and bowl a Turkey or two! - Escapology Escape Rooms (Holmdel) - "Saving Santa"
LOCATION: Holmdel, New Jersey, USA Photo above is property of Escapology Escape Rooms (Holmdel) πΒ Β ETR DECODER π GAME : Saving Santa π DATE PLAYED : December 2, 2022 π¬ GENRE : Fantasy π§ DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 4.5/10 π₯ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-8 ppl π LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins. π° PRICE : $36.99/ pp βοΈ BOOKING TYPE : Private π ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes π THE STORY 'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the... "Knock, Knock". Who could that be at the door? Santa goes to answer it and he is greeted by Mick MacNasty and his gang of evil Christmas thieves. They are here to steal all the toys and keep it for themselves! They kidnap Santa and the North Pole immediately goes into chaos! Mrs. Claus contacts a group of clever children to help - "The Worldwide Child Detective Agency" (which is YOU)! Can you save Santa and ultimately save Christmas? π― HIT THE BULLSEYE The dΓ©cor was festive and colorful with plenty of things to search through. One of those things was a fully decorated Christmas tree! Kids would probably forget that they're playing an escape room and start rummaging through the presents! We love the storyline and the introduction of "The Worldwide Child Detective Agency" to the rescue! What better way to get kids to participate then assigning them a task to rescue Santa and earn brownie points on the "Nice" list! 𧩠MISSED THE MARK The puzzles were a lot of fun and creatively implemented. However, it did take us awhile to adjust our approach to solving the puzzles. We were reminded by the game master to change our thought process. Since the room was designed for kids, some things must be "interpreted" from their point of view. One puzzle was very time consuming. They did intentionally added it in there since we're enthusiasts to increase the level of difficulty (so you might not have it or you might get the easier version). This was one of those game design aspects we don't really enjoy in escape rooms. As players, we would assume everything in the room would be movable and that it won't affect game play. If the difficulty level was caused by the fact that we've moved an element and have to remember where their original location was, then we don't think that's fair to a player. πΉ TAKE A SHOT? Although "Secret Santa" was a room designed for kids, some puzzles might not be easy as it seems. Kids see things differently and have different perspectives than adults. We were definitely over thinking on a lot of the puzzles in that room. So if you decide to play this game, go in with a simple mindset. Because it's a seasonal game, Escapology re-decorated one of their pre-existing rooms to "spruce" it up and add that magical holiday touch! The room that they temporarily transformed into "Saving Santa" at the Holmdel location is "Budapest Express" which made it feel like we were on the "Polar Express"! Christmas is right around the corner and what better way to celebrate than an escape room with your family and friends? Come save St. Nick and you might just earn yourself a surprise ending π π HINT Make sure you're looking at it from "eye level"....
