Yet immediately upon reaching your desk and ready to take a nap you are prompted with a case that involves a haunted mill where children and adults work under the power of a giant mechanical beast, The Red Lord. Is it the supernatural? Is it a corrupt system in hiding? All you know is that with three deaths already lying in wake, something must be done…Or you can take a nap and deal with it in the morning. You choose. Video above is property of The Mysterious Package Company 🆃🅷🅴 ❞🅻🅾🅾🅺🆂❞ From the moment this package arrived on my doorstep, we already started to feel immersed in the story with a cardboard box stamped with “confidential” and a Post Mortem label. Inside the box was a beautiful faux leather file folder that contains two Penny Novels, a London Directory Notebook, The London Standard News Clipping, six evidence bags labelled A--F, a rules pamphlet, a box checklist, and a Ready-to-Solve Pamphlet. I have always admired the level of detail in MPC’s games and this game still accomplished that with the graphics, specialty printing, and very intriguing items hidden in the evidence envelopes. In addition, the narrative journey of the booklets is something a reader and mystery lover will absolutely adore with all the details and clues. Photo above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 Post Mortem is a murder mystery, choose your own adventure style experience. Unlike the initial Post Mortem games, The Ghost in the Machine does contain two books for the adventure so you will likely need to complete it in two sittings. Using the first Penny Novel (Book 1: Daylight) you start the experience by reading the introduction of the adventure. Using the Directory (which contains a list of contacts you can connect with by locating their lead numbers in the Penny novel), newspaper, and the story you are meant to unravel clues, verify suspects, and create a timeline to solve the crime. Along with the booklets are a series of evidence bags that will be opened only when you are directed to in the Penny Novel. As you read the story and follow leads you will be faced with choices to make. When in doubt, your personal contacts in the Notepad can be used for hints and guidance. On the back of the “Ready to Solve?” pamphlet has 6 questions. Once you feel you have the answers to those questions you can crack open the seal and read the epilogue to get your conclusion. My biggest piece of advice is to take notes. There is a lot of information that you will be piecing through and after the initial introduction this becomes an extremely open adventure. Don’t be afraid to back track and try new things with hopes of new outcomes. Sometimes you’ll come across pages that remark about something you need to have done before arriving to get another page so note it down for matter to come back to. This game is very heavy on logic and deduction but boy the story is JUICY! Note : This game does not have a hint system but there is a facebook group for players to join to discuss the case. Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 Post Mortem is not so much a puzzle style game but, rather, a deduction game. You are given a series of six questions focusing on the motive and circumstances around these deaths. You are unravelling the story as you follow clues, look into suspects, and explore the surroundings. This game will ask you to take leads you find and adjust the numbers (add, subtract, reverse, etc) to find new locations and information or to unlock locations and safes. Things like pattern recognition, logic, observation are essential and you should be prepared to read a lot. This is a story first and foremost that you must arrange by following the clues. The key thing is to take notes and keep track of where you gathered information. You will likely have to backtrack to locations and pages, even across the two books. I found where I became stuck was when I forgot to note down a location and ended up having to backtrack the chronology of the story to find the source again. This slowed down my progress significantly. Note : make sure you are picking pages with intention as you can easily spoil things for yourself if you start reading from random pages. Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 Set in a mechanised and grungy world of London 1894, " Post Mortem London Gothic" provides players with a large and complex murder mystery that truly lets you be a private investigator with the excitement of following the case, making choices on where to go, and unveiling evidence that helps guide you along. The story showed itself to be fascinating and rich which is what I have always loved in Mysterious Package Company. If you love mystery narratives this is an amazing blend of a tactile or reading experience that will leave you wanting more…and thankfully there are THREE other Post Mortem experiences out now to check out! - Mysterious Package Company - "Body of Evidence - Best Served Cold"
Photo above is property of The Mysterious Package Company Company: The Mysterious Package Company Game: Body of Evidence - Best Served Cold Country: Canada 🇨🇦 Language: English Type of Game: Tabletop Games 📬 Genre: Murder Mystery Date Played: January 2, 2024 Difficulty (based on 3 players): 5/10 Size of Team: Unlimited (Ages 15+) Time: Unlimited (Suggested 2+ Hrs) Price: $55,00 CAD 🆃🅷🅴 🆂🆃🅾🆁🆈 When a famous chef is found dead on the night of his restaurant’s reopening in the storage freezer, the Thornhill PD are desperately in need of some answers. As a well known coroner you are being asked to review Christian LeClair’s body and case to provide a second opinion by the head commissioner. The answer lies within what truly happened that day leading up to his body’s discovery in La Promesse and you know people are hiding secrets…time to dig deep and find out why! 🆃🅷🅴 ❞🅻🅾🅾🅺🆂❞ When the game arrives you will be created with a clean, matte cardboard box with the title emblazoned across it. Inside, there is an official internal memo to get you started, a police badge to remind you you are on the job, and a notepad and pen to help keep track. There is an instructions pamphlet that was an absolute joy to open up thanks to the detailed paper crafting of this company. Once you feel ready to begin the game you will have three case files to explore in order that contain witness statements, police reports, news clippings, evidence bags to assist you in understanding and uncover what happened on this day. A coroner’s handbook and evidence cards are the last thing to set aside as you unveil, peeking out from the body bag, is the paper corpse of our victim. It is at that moment you realise this game means business. I continue to find the level of detail in MPC’s games to be quite high and the amount of work that is obvious in the mix of paper styles, the design of the corpse, and even the instruction manual really draws in the player. It compliments the immersion that comes with uncovering the story so well. Photo above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 “Body of Evidence” is a murder mystery style game that mixes deduction alongside tactile body examination to help narrow down the suspect pool. Following a more linear structure, you are tasked with completing the game file by file. After you open your file you can begin examining the clues, reading the case notes, and when you feel ready you can open up the Coroner's Report which will prompt you to answer two questions after you complete different stages of the autopsy (ie. cutting open the body). The answers will direct you to one of the evidence cards and if the answer is correct it will match the pinboard lines across the card. It is important to note your task isn’t just to answer these questions as they will help you solve the murder but they will not provide the answer directly. There is an official timeline sheet for you to fill out that tracks the movements of the different suspects leading up to the murder. Filling this out will help the most. After you have completed all three case logs, the coroner’s reports, and can answer the final questions you can open the “Case Closed” red envelope which has an epilogue to finish up the story and provide a filled out copy of the timeline for you to check out. My advice while playing is to focus on the suspects and the timeline earlier on so you don’t need to spend too much backtracking. The evidence cards slightly mislead if you aren’t following the narrative closely (there are many reasons a body could have a bruise). Once you have the time line going you will feel more confident exploring and don’t be afraid to go back and review information! Note : This game does not have a hint system but the evidence cards provide an answer checking system. Essentially if your chosen answer doesn't match you know you are wrong. 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 “Body of Evidence” is a murder mystery style game with no puzzles per se but a series of deductions and problem solving activities. I found the deduction element of the game to be fun as you’re cross checking testimonies of characters and their whereabouts. In this regard I recommend this game to groups as it gives you a chance to break up the suspects and debrief what you learn. I felt the cluing was well done here. One thing I will note is cutting open the paper cadaver is TRICKY. I recommend either being willing to just tear it open or to have a small scalpel type blade to help yourself. Even with the perforations it was hard to crack things open. Once inside the level of detail was engaging. I did wish the autopsy would give more towards solving but it was well scaffolded and added a new element to this game that none other had. Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 Overall MPC’s first instalment in the “Body of Evidence” series boasts a new level to deduction games that engages audiences and immerses them more actively in the investigation. I found the story to be really well done and the ease of the information coming meant no one ever felt overwhelmed. The ahas as we put the pieces together had my group devouring this game in about two hours and we can see both new and experienced players being delighted by the macabre of this game. I look forward to seeing how the next installment continues to elevate this series. Price: $87.00 USD 🆃🅷🅴 🆂🆃🅾🆁🆈 You and your team of paranormal investigators have just been commissioned to unravel the obscurity inside a mystery manor. An artifact has been stolen and it's believed that the thief hid it inside one of the rooms... Video above is property of The Mysterious Package Company 🆃🅷🅴 ❞🅻🅾🅾🅺🆂❞ The game arrives in a perfectly packed brown box w/ a "Mysterious Package Company" sticker on it. Once you open it, you will discover a vibrant purple & pinkish colored box with artwork of the "Mystery Manor"! There is no assembly required! Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Once you lift the box lid, the first thing you'll notice is the instruction booklet. There is a QR code for you to scan if you decide to opt for the abridged audio introduction. I definitely recommend doing so! It really sets the tone for the game and enhances the experience. There is also decoder wheel, a hint book, a dossier, and a velvet pouch (containing a magnify glass, pencil, flashlight, and a notepad). Underneath you will find a book with 3 ribbons along the side tied to keep it shut! At the bottom of the box, there is a safe (you'll know when it's time to examine it later on in the experience). Note : This game has a hint book with a nudging system. If the hints don't lead you to an answer, there's a grid that you can plug the provided coordinates in to find out. 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 After reading the instructions and listening to the abridged audio introduction (optional), you are now ready to begin your investigation! For the most part of the game, you are going through the dossier case-by-case and using the pop-up book to gather your 3-digit code which you will align with the decoder wheel. Opening the dossier, you'll notice 5 case files separated by their tabs and there are 4 puzzles to solve for each marked in alphabetical order. Packed inside are photos, notes, newspaper clippings, and more evidence to sift through. Setting up the pop-up manor was brilliantly constructed to create your centerpiece. The 3 ribbons that were used to tie the book shut can now be tied to keep it open allowing you investigate each room by simply turning it. Inside the manor, there are over 8 rooms to explore. When we first started, the floor-plan of the manor was a bit confusing. Eventually, we had to put a sticky note up on each room labeling what it was. This entire experience will definitely last about 8 hours. There is so much backstory and interesting things to explore throughout the manor. One thing to keep in mind is that this entire game can be played without the internet. Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 As expected from a pop-up book with so much artwork and attention to detail, there's going to be a lot searching involved in this game (the flashlight provided will definitely come in handy). At first, it's a bit confusing when you open a case file and start to examine all the information as it's scattered all over the place. The puzzles are marked with an alphabet, but figuring out which pieces correlated with the question was a bit challenging. Other familiar puzzles challenges were cleverly implemented into the dossier allowing your team of investigators to utilize their knowledge from past experiences to solve the case! Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 Our reviewers have raved in the past about " NYARLATHOTEP ", " HASTUR ", " The Buried Puppet ", " Post Mortem London Gothic: The Ghost in the Machine ", and " Body of Evidence - Best Served Cold ", so it was great to experience firsthand the level of quality that The Mysterious Package Company puts into their games! Much like the other Mysterious Package Company games, " Doomensions: Mystery Manor " was beautifully constructed with an insane amount of attention to detail. Throughout the game, there were so many "wow' moments that we literally felt like were exploring different rooms and checking behind closets and cabinets! This reminded us a lot of " The Cursed Dollhouse " by ThinkFun but on a much larger scale! Towards the end, we definitely felt like we were inside of an escape room! Twice we both said to ourselves, "wait, there's more?". " Doomensions: Mystery Manor " is the perfect blend for escape room enthusiasts and tabletop gaming sleuths! - Mysterious Package Company: The Curious Correspondence Club - "Chapter I: The Custodian's Keys"
Photo above provided by The Curious Correspondence Club Company: The Curious Correspondence Club Game: Chapter I: The Custodian's Keys Country: Canada 🇨🇦 Language: English Type of Game: Puzzles By Mail 📬 Genre: Mystery Date Played: 9/16/2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 5.5/10 Size of Team: Unlimited (Age 12+) Time: 60-90 minutes (Approximately) Price: $21.95 (free shipping in North America); Monthly Subscription: $19.95/Yearly Subscription: $179 Video above provided by The Curious Correspondence Club Our first Chapter from The Curious Correspondence Club came in an intricately designed envelope. As we "unlocked" the flaps, our adventure began. The story was printed right on the back of the envelope. It seemed like we've just walked into the M.B. Franklin Museum of Natural History. Inside, we had a peculiar meeting with the custodian (or so we thought...). There's definitely more to this place than meets the eye... Photos above provided by The Curious Correspondence Club Chapter 1 came with the outer envelope, a museum ticket, 6 museum tiles, 6 custodian keys, 1 key ring, 1 exhibit lock, 1 custodian note, 1 torn museum sign and 1 souvenir notepaper. A website was provided for easy access to hints/solutions and for entering the last code to reveal the final ending. One thing we would've liked would be a place online where we could enter our answers to check if we got the individual puzzles correct or not (rather than going through the hint section). It would make use feel like we've actually unlocked that passage and would be allowed to move on to the next one. If you were unsure on where to began, reading the custodian's note would be a great place to start. Once we knew what we needed to find, we started to put the clue pieces together. This game was a game of discovery. There were always moments where we felt like our search led us to questions like: "where have we seen this before?" or "oh, so that's what it's used for". As we went through the different exhibits in the museum, each gave us a glimpse of the history and story behind the artifacts. We can definitely see being used for educational purposes. If you are very observant, the puzzles should not be difficult for you. The only part that stumped us for a bit was how to use the keys. These were by far the BIGGEST keys we've gotten in terms of props in a game. It was definitely a "wow moment" for us when we discovered how it was supposed to be used as it felt like a real experience but designed with embedded puzzles. You may also find items/images you might not use in this game. These were merely items that will connect the stories together in the next mailer as legend has it there were 12 curious treasures that fell to Earth long ago. I'm not sure about you but I'm totally excited to be part of this secret society to help to seek and protect these artifacts when they come to light. Stay tuned and see where the next adventure will take us in Chapter 2! Other than the documents you were given, you see nothing but a few shipping crates and barrels. Will that be enough for you to uncover the secrets within this creepy shipping dock? Video/ Photos above provided by The Curious Correspondence Club 🆃🅷🅴 ❞🅻🅾🅾🅺🆂❞ Similar to the packaging in Chapter I, you'll receive Chapter II in an envelope with a different but equally pretty sticker. The back story is printed on the inside of the envelope so open with care. Inside you'll find 1 strong box, 1 strong box note, 1 strip of negatives, 1 photographer, 6 cargo crate panels, 1 wharf map, 3 warehouse documents, 1 warehouse clipboard, and 12 crate assembly tabs. We really liked the color choices for the graphics of this game as it created that dark, rusty warehouse vibe. Photos above property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 This game needs to be played in a linear fashion. We strongly recommend reading the your objectives before starting the game. It'll be much either to organize the clues together. As we ventured through the game, it felt like we're part of an action movie. From identifying the whereabouts of the entrance to the correct warehouse to looking for the artifacts in the right crate to ultimately escaping by sending out the proper distress signal, the entire game felt like a "007" assignment. You'll have your "M" to help you out incase you get stuck. As were game pieces that needed to be constructed in this game, we really appreciated the photo aspect of it in the hint system showing that final look. Photos above provided by The Curious Correspondence Club 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 The puzzles were definitely harder than the first game but that might differ from person to person. If you are good with sp atial visualization some of these puzzles may be a breeze for you. We had a difficult time with one of them but good thing the hint system was quite helpful. Although the puzzle itself was difficult to solve, it was still our favorite from a design aspect. We really like the interactive aspect of puzzle pieces especially when it's closely tied in with the storyline. There's essentially 4 puzzles in the game before you get to the finish line. If you want to know if you got the previous answers correctly, you'll need to go to the hint section and click the solution button. It would be great if we could have a separate portal to enter the individual solutions instead of just having a place to enter the final solution incase players doesn't want to go to the hint section to avoid accidental spoilers. 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃 This was a cool concept of closely connecting the storyline and the actual pieces being used in a puzzle game. We were surprised at how much play time we got out of one little envelope. We suggest using the hints if you get stuck on a puzzle for too long as it does take the fun out of it. Regardless you should definitely attempt the "arts and craft" aspect of the game. It does make it stand out from some of the tabletop games we've seen. Cautiously navigating through the hectic crowd, we find ourselves inside a Tinker's Workshop. The old man at the workshop seems to be hiding something...perhaps a long lost secret? 🆃🅷🅴 ❞🅻🅾🅾🅺🆂❞ Similar to the previous games, the game components came in a pretty envelope with a sticker particular to this chapter. I did notice that they've improved on the glue that they've used from the previous envelopes as it's much easier to rip open how without getting the envelope destroyed. You'll want to be careful when opening up the envelope as the storyline is printed on the inside of it. The game components include: 1 leather pouch, 1 reversible workstation/patent certificate, 1 newspaper clipping, 3 invention schematics and 1 mechanical device. Photos above provided by The Curious Correspondence Club 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 The Curious Correspondence Club has a great writer. We are able to clearly visualize the story setting once we started to read the back story. This one in particular not only provided visual sensations but also audio and smell. We were able to sense everything as we "walked" down the alleyways. From the first look, you might be scared from all the gears and schematics as it looked like only an engineer would be able to complete this game. Once you understood what you're looking for and follow the clues that pertains to that specific puzzle number, you should be able to figure out the solution. If you still have issues, there's a detailed hint system on their website. We really loved this game. From the design concept to how we're able to utilize the components to formulate a solution, there were "wow" moments throughout the game play. 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 The puzzles really took us by surprise in this game. Initially we thought it was going to be a lot of decoding (and there was a bunch) but not in the way we imagined. Sticking with the idea of watches and gears, the puzzle design perfectly utilized those components to reveal their secrets. You should pay attention to every piece of paper (even ones you think might not be important) as there were a lot of hidden reveals. The physical construction aspect of the game pieces has always been a favorite feature of ours and The Curious Correspondence Club definitely outdid themselves with this one. Photos above provided by ESCAPETHEROOMers 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 This was our favorite game from The Curious Correspondence Club so far. The graphics, storyline, and puzzles flawlessly integrated with each other. There were a lot of surprises we didn't anticipate. The artifact is definitely hidden somewhere in those tents. From the message we heard on the radio, we only have an hour before the enemies return back to the camp grounds... 🆃🅷🅴 ❞🅻🅾🅾🅺🆂❞ As always, we love the packaging. You can refer to our previous reviews for details. This chapter had 1 reversible arithmascope body, 1 chapter envelope, 5 reversible tents, 2 scope lenses, 2 scope drums, 1 reversible camp mats, 2 invention schematics, 1 flashlight bulb and 1 ticker's note. Photos above provided by The Curious Correspondence Club 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 With all of the games from The Curious Correspondence Club, we always feel that we're trying to recreate the scene from the backstory. This chapter felt closest to reality in terms of what we're able to "build" out. Through the subtle hints on the memo paper, we're able to follow the character's actions as he descends to the camp grounds. Once he reaches the ground, we're able to assist him by making tools that he'll need on the mission. There were a lot of assembling needed for this mission. The only complaint we had was the fact that some insertions kept falling out and we had to hold it wit our hands while playing through the game since we needed to use them to decode, It felt quite cumbersome since we had to use the same paper for multiple purposes. you really had to handle the parts with care as due to the various ways we had to use them, some parts were breaking apart. Other than the issues with the construction, the idea was super clever. We loved the transformation of the clue papers and how we were able to utilize them for different purposes. Photos above are properties of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 The puzzles were more intricate than the previous chapters. We did have to use hints for some parts. It would help to have photos in the hint section for this chapter since at times we're unsure if we had the items assembled correctly or not. Some solutions were not matching up to what we've had after the construction was completed and we couldn't tell what we did wrong even with the hints. Our favorite puzzle in this chapter was a visualization puzzle. I was amazed at what was happening once all the components were placed in the right positions. It also seamlessly tied in with the storyline. 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 This chapter's concept having us "assemble" the storyline was amazing. The way the creator was able to design puzzles with so many of these reversible puzzle pieces was something we haven't seen before. If they were able to make the insertions on the assemble parts bit more sturdy and easier to join together, it would have made the game even more enjoyable. We have always been big fans of The Curious Correspondence Club's ingenuity. I can't wait to see what we'll be able to "create" in the next chapter! Photos above provided by The Curious Correspondence Club 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 You'll need to be a good reader and instruction follower for this game. You'll be following his footsteps to discover which spots are the right ones to dig and how to interpret the findings. The Curious Correspondence Club is great at creating innovative "gadgets" from paper. This time the cool little shovel and the scratch offs really gave us that "digging" sensation (although we still ended up using a coin as it didn't quite do the job but we still appreciated the idea). Photos above provided by ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 Since there are 4 sacred sections you'll need to explore in this temple, there will repetitive steps you will have to take to solve some of the puzzles. If you are confused on how to start, we strongly suggest looking at the hints. Once you're on the right path, come back and repeat the steps for the other sections of the puzzles. This was definitely a challenging chapter so don't be shy on taking hints. There were several steps you'll have to take before reaching a solution. Since the puzzles were linear, if you started with the wrong idea, you won't be able to continue with the journey. When we finally realized how everything worked together, we're impressed by the thought process behind the puzzle maker. Photos above provided by ESCAPETHEROOMers 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 The Curious Correspondence Club loves to let the players build their own playing grounds and this time was no exception. We constructed our own temple map, excavated the marked spots, and figured out the meanings behind the sacred shrine and symbols. These clues eventually led us to the artifact. The journey was definitely not an easy one but who said retrieving artifact was going to be an easy job? We finally have 5 in our hands now. Where could the 6th one be? I mean there's got to be a hidden passage somewhere right? It's time to begin our exploration... 🆃🅷🅴 ❞🅻🅾🅾🅺🆂❞ Normally we're not big fans of reading materials, but we absolutely love the writer behind The Curious Correspondence Club's narratives. They are very descriptive. As you read through the words, they will create images, sounds and sometimes even smell in your mind. So make sure not to skip the backstory that's printed inside the envelope. In this chapter, you'll receive 1 anonymous note, 5 reversible room tiles, 1 manor key, 1 reversible portrait, and 1 interactive bookcase. Photos above provided by The Curious Correspondence Club 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 Your better equip yourself with a magnifying glass and some good lighting for this game. We had a few "finding Waldo" moments but it definitely went along with the theme of "exploring" the manor. We really loved the graphics in this chapter. As you go through the 5 different rooms in the manor, you'll discover various embedded puzzles. The hidden elements really bought out the mysterious vibe of an old manor. The design of how to decode the passwords in this chapter was also quite clever. Certain aspects of the game made us feel like we were in an escape room. Photos above provided by ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 The puzzles in this chapter were a lot of fun. Maybe it's because we felt like we could relate them to ones we've seen in escape rooms. There were a lot of discoveries and associations to be made throughout each area of the manor. When we made the connection ourselves, we felt quite proud and patted ourselves on our backs. When we didn't and saw the hint on how the puzzle worked, we were still impressed by how the creator was able to come up with that puzzle. There were many "wow" and "duh" moments in this game. If you are good at searching, with a good amount of patience, you should have no issues with these puzzles. Photos above provided by ESCAPETHEROOMers 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 This was another enjoyable chapter from The Curious Correspondence Club. We love how the concept of their puzzles are always trying to create the physical setting of the space we're in. This time we were able to explore the manor, use a key, decipher hidden areas and eventually retrieve the artifact. My favorite moment in this game was when Brandon and I were racing to find an item with each other and bumped each other in the head. It was definitely an "ouch" yet funny moment at the same time. This is how dedicated we are as puzzlers! No head injury will stop our quest for the artifact! Bring on your 7th challenge now! Photos above provided by The Curious Correspondence Club 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 You might be overwhelmed by the amount of props that came with this game. But you'll quickly notice that there are various slits on different clue pieces. It might help to assemble some pieces together first. Definitely start off by reading the data printout. We found some valuable clues on there and was able to use those clues to thread the information together. As always, it's very important to be observant for The Curious Correspondence Club 's games. They are great with hiding details in their graphics. We definitely missed a few. We love the fact that they use a lot of tactile puzzles and can turn simple paper clues into 2D/3D props. In this chapter, we essentially build out a computer. The utilization of the mouse as how it would be in real life was very clever as well. Photos above property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 This was another challenging game from The Curious Correspondence Club . The puzzles were not too difficult once you recognize what they're looking for and could follow their thought process. The tough part was where to get started. One thing that did take us a long time to figure out was recognizing the hidden embedded codes. You really needed to have good eyesight for this game. It would've helped if the clues were bigger as they felt too crammed together for us to easily notice the embedded message. Once we knew what we're looking for, we had to use hints to bypass a few. We definitely recommend using the hint guide for this game to make sure you assemble everything correctly before going down a rabbit hole. The hint system was quite useful in this game as it doesn't just have the nudging hints but you'll also get photos of the finished assembly. Photos above property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 Although we weren't able to complete all the puzzles on our own, it was still great to be able see the process. Not many puzzle companies we've seen could use their paper clues to tell a story so vividly. Perhaps I just really like tactile puzzles but it's a lot more engaging than words on a paper or searching on the internet. After reading the backstory, you're able to build out the scenes with the clues provided. This is why we're always very excited to see new chapters of The Curious Correspondence Club in our mailbox. Hopefully we'll be able to complete the final chapter without any clues and become a true Guardian! Photos above property of The Curious Correspondence Club 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 At first glance, you might be overwhelmed by the amount of items you've received for this game. Perhaps it's because this is our 8th chapter with CCC that we're finally catching their drift on their game design. It's important to look over everything before picking a point to start as there's always something that serves as a guidance and sometimes there's even a password manager. Like previous games, we had to assemble clue pieces together and many things could be utilized more than once. I love how the creator was able to use simple paper items and modify them into complicated real life tools. We had items like a compass, an axe and even a pocket knife! The graphics were very detailed but also easy to read in comparison to some of their previous games. This made it easier for us to associate the clues that we've discovered with the puzzle elements. As always if you get stuck, there's a comprehensive nudging hint system on their website. Photos above property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 We really enjoyed the puzzles in this game. I think it's the first CCC game that we were able to finish without looking at hints! The puzzles were non-linear so we split up right from the beginning. We were once again amazed by the creator's ability to design the puzzles into the narrative and be able to make the simple paper clues come to live. One minute we're wondering how and where we would use the axe, the next we're wowed by their imagination. The difficulty level felt just right for us as the game gave clear cluing that led us to the right path. Photos above property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 I felt like a warrior after this game! Most of the time, CCC puzzles are quite difficult. Without using a hint to complete this game was a big victory in our books. I would love to see more of this type of difficulty from CCC. I think majority of the players would find puzzles that they don't have to rely on hints to be more enjoyable. This one was another job well done! To your surprise, a familiar face appeared in front of you, It's Millie Milton. As you just started to inquire about her whereabouts, an urgent voice came through the train radio. It seems like there's an issue with the engine and there's no way to remove the artifact until the train becomes stabilize. Can you make across the 5 train cars? Hopefully Millie will be able to guide you through this difficult task. 🆃🅷🅴 ❞🅻🅾🅾🅺🆂❞ Read our previous reviews on more details about the packaging. In this chapter you'll receive an envelope with the backstory (printed on the inside), 5 logo cards, 1 handheld radio, 7 reversible train carriage tiles, 3 reversible radio cards, 4 reversible fuses, 1 lumber tag and 1 valve wheel. Photos above provided by The Curious Correspondence Club 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 Normally with " The Curious Correspondence Club" games you'll need to discover the starting point on your own or you can freely choose where to start from. This chapter felt more organized and you actually have a device that will guide you through the steps of the game play. It's definitely necessary as this is another difficult chapter in terms of the puzzles in our opinion. The "CCC" surprised me again on the creative side with the design of this device. It's used both as a guide and a hint giver. If you successfully solve the first 5 puzzles, you'll be facing the final meta puzzle. Don't be shy on using hints from their website as it was great for us to understand what type of answer they are looking for and where to find the correlation. Once we knew that part, it was much easier to solve the remaining puzzles. Photos above are Properties of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 Most of the puzzles required multiple steps to get to the solution. Since they are not linear, you can complete them in any order. If you didn't want to use hints, I would suggest picking on an easier puzzle (you'll know which one it is) to find out what type of answer they're looking for. From there you can attempt a harder one and so forth. There's not much "search and find" type of puzzle in this game. We encountered some Math, deduction, decoding, and word puzzles. Make sure you have a lengthy table for the last puzzle. In my opinion, the meta puzzle actually felt like the easiest one out of all the puzzles but it was the most fun to solve since there was some assembling that was involved. Photos above are Properties of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 I feel like I'm just repeating myself at this point but we are big fans of "CCC". I've read mixed reviews on other player's opinion on what they liked about the games and what they didn't and I feel like a lot probably has to do with the difficulty level of the puzzles. It's not really meant for beginner puzzlers and you really need patience with some of the games. I do feel some big changes with the game flow of this game. Although the puzzles are still challenging, there's a much clearer sense of direction for the players to take. What hasn't changed throughout the chapters is the ingenuity of their game design. Every chapter is filled with surprises from simple paper props. You never know what they would transform into. Many times, they are able to create an object or item that you would use in real life. I'm very excited about Chapter 10 as we're about to face something we've long been waiting for... Getting in won't be easy but good thing you have help. Besides Millie, you were greeted by two other guardians at the entrance. Will you succeed at infiltrating floor 64? 🆃🅷🅴 ❞🅻🅾🅾🅺🆂❞ This envelope felt quite thick comparing to the previous ones we've gotten and that is because there's a good amount of content inside: 5 fingerprint strips, 1 fingerprint scanner, 5 camera feeds, 1 reversible floor plan, 2 chamber walls, 2 report appendices, 1 defector's note and 4 smoke strips. Photos above are properties of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 Once you see the content of this game, you'll know right away that there's going to be some "construction" action. I'm always quite excited about the assembly part of the game as that's a special trademark for all of The Curious Correspondence Club games . Most of the game play will revolve around the 64th floor's floor plan. In this game, the creator is making the players think about how the story will develop. If you've made it to a floor that's full of security cameras, what would you do next? Perhaps find a route that has defective cameras? Then what? Think about your end goal. We really enjoyed this type of cluing as it's not really through words but through a narrative that you're creating through game play. Photos above are properties of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 There's essentially two parts to this game: getting to the designated location on floor 64 and then getting out safely with the artifacts. To us, the puzzles in the first part felt easier as pattern recognition and looking for clues embedded in images felt like puzzles we've seen in escape rooms before. The second part challenged us to construct the puzzle first and then solve them by using a special tool. The game did not come with the tool but it should be a fairly common household item (for experienced puzzlers, you'll definitely have this in some other games you've played before). It would be helpful if the creator could add an image of the constructed image as it was quite difficult to visualize it through the text clues on if we've assemble it correctly or not. Photos above are properties of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 The chapter made us feel like James Bond. Hiding from security cameras, breaking fingerprint scanners, and avoiding laser beams were like things you'll see in a action film. Normally Brandon is not really a fan of deduction puzzles but the creator did a great job with the one in the game as it incorporated visual clues rather than text. It was a lot interesting to follow this way. This chapter also felt bitter sweet since one hand we really want to find out about the big finale but on the other, we really don't want it to end. Good news is that they already announced that season two is on its way! Good thing past Guardians have left you some directions and clues. Think you're smart enough to figure them out? 🆃🅷🅴 ❞🅻🅾🅾🅺🆂❞ It's awesome to see the big "X" on the stamp behind the envelope. We made it to chapter 10 and this time we're going underground! In this envelope, you'll find 6 wall tiles, 1 reversible tile map, 5 photographs, 1 revisable sewer cover, 1 lever arm, 1 lever body, 1 matchbook and 1 photo wrapping. Photos above are properties of The Curious Correspondence Club 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 After 10 chapters of The Curious Correspondence Club, you would think we're experts by now but every game is like learning a new game for us. The way they want the players to put together the "scene" for them is always out of our expectations. This one was no different. Right away we saw the various symbols and patterns on the manhole. It really felt like a secret society had left their markings and the only way in is to figure out the password. The next part is when we usually sit for almost thirty minutes trying to figure out how to start the game. Definitely pay attention to the backstory as it'll give you some subtle hints. For this game, we had to use a hint to start. Once we saw the hint, the first thing we said to each other was: "Ok, that's clever." Therefore, please use hints for this game as it'll keep your momentum going and make it more fun than getting frustrated by sitting there for hours. Photos above are properties of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 Once we had the nudge, figuring out the first solution was quite easy. The next puzzle took us the longest as visually it was definitely a challenge. But the entire design made perfect sense as I would imaging it's quite easy to get lost in a tunnel. In this game, there's a good amount of observation puzzles. You might think that this section was quite easy but it's just a breather that will lead to the multi-step puzzle for the ending. Once again, the use of that prop was perfectly timed with the storyline but it will definitely challenge your math skills. Photos above are properties of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 From day one, The Curious Correspondence Club captured our hearts with their stunning artwork and intriguing storyline. Although we're still struggling with the difficulty of their puzzles, we're always excited to see their envelope in our mailbox. I would have never imaged how they would be able to use the props such as the levers and gears and build an entire storyline around a sewer. The cliffhangers are really good too. But good thing we don't have to wait too long for Chapter 11. Also, this time we actually know where we'll be going: The Starfall Tower! Photos above are properties of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 Ok, I have to admit. I took a few deep breaths before starting the game. I knew CCC was not going to make this last chapter easy. Reading from the storyline gave us a bit more guidance in terms of what we needed to build from the paper materials and how they should be utilized. Since origami was my high school hobby, the assembly part was not so difficult. I loved how CCC was able to bring this artifact to live. It's just as I imaged but a lot prettier. The blue on black print for the tablet screens made the small fonts really hard to read. I wish that could have been done in another color choice. There's a few things that had to happen simultaneously in this game. You will need to understand how to operate the actual artifact, the glove, the holo projector for most of the puzzle interpretations. I strongly advise the usage of hints if you get stuck. There's a good amount of steps you'll need to repeat for some puzzles so you'll definitely get a chance to try some on your own. Photos above are properties of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 We almost have to use hints and solution check on most of the CCC games we've played. If you look back on our reviews, we've gotten frustrated at the beginning but only to learn that this is not the fun way to enjoy these games. We actually felt like we've improved on our puzzle solving skills while studying the hints and solutions. It's insane how the creators thought of how some of these puzzles worked together while using these paper components. I know there's mix feelings out there about the difficulty level of these games but we're definitely fans. It's hard but it all makes sense when you read through the solution. I do admit sometimes these puzzles make me feel like I have to play more games in order to "level up". This game in particular was a toughie. I was able to get through half but once the holo projector came into play, it definitely got a lot more complicated. The sequence and steps to get to each solution was also lengthened for this game. You'll need to rotate, adjust, readjust in order to finally get to one solution. This might have to be repeated several times. Just be patient since this is the finish line! Photos above are properties of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 We finally concluded our journey with CCC with this final chapter. This fun adventure was definitely something we looked forward to every month in our mailbox. The story was engaging especially with the cinematic ending that gave me chills as the voice actor read through the final lines. I hope this is not the end...Because how many games have you played before that allowed you to assemble an Iron Man type of glove yourself and look so cool while solving puzzles?
