- Lockdown Escape Rooms (Flamingo) - "Mayan"
LOCATION: Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Photo above is property of Lockdown Escape Rooms ๐ ย ย ETR DECODER ๐ GAME : Mayan ๐ DATE PLAYED : November 10, 2019 ๐ฌ GENRE : Adventure, Legend ๐ง DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 9/10 ๐ฅ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 3-10 ppl ๐ LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins ๐ฐ PRICE : $35.00/ pp โ๏ธ BOOKING TYPE : Private ๐ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : No ๐ THE STORY We are a group of archeologist going into an ancient Mayan Temple looking for hidden treasures. But the structure is not stable and can collapse any minute! We need to recover the treasure and most importantly come out alive! Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE The set design for this room gave us the vibe of entering a jungle. The props used were fitting to the story line. We enjoyed the mixture of physical as well as logic puzzles. ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK It would have been great if the latter part of the game wasnโt revealed at the beginning. If a โkeyโ was needed to open up the gate, it would be more impactful for an entrance. The clues by the game master needed to be clearer. We felt that it was hard for them to see our progress. We clearly missed a puzzle piece we found and didnโt think that was useful but did not get a clue to use it on a puzzle that we were stuck on. One puzzle had an element that could be placed in different ways but thereโs no clear instructions on which way it should be. The explanation that was given to us after the game was basically trial and error. A puzzle that needed precision had to be adjusted in terms of its design since at times it was not reaching its designated position. If lights and sound could be added to the room for โwowโ reveals when puzzles are solved, it could have more of a mystical feel as a sacred Mayan Temple. The walkie talkieโs channel changed since weโre moving around a lot in the room so for some time the game master did not even know we were asking for hints. It would be great to inform the players what channel they should be on in case this happens or tape/mark it down on the walkie talkie. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? We enjoyed the โProject Poseidonโ room much more than this room mainly because the puzzles are more logical there. A larger group would really help with the final puzzle as itโs pretty time consuming.ย Our recommended size for this room is 4-6 people. ๐ HINT Check for a mark for your precision position. Photos above are property of Isolvu Escape Room Company: Isolvu Escape Room Game: The Enchanted Forest Country: USA ๐บ๐ธ Language: English Type of Game: Remote Escape Room ๐ฃ Genre: Fantasy, Magical Date Played: September 15, 2021 Difficulty (based on 5 players): 5/10 Size of Team: 2-6 Players (Recommended ages 8+) Time: 60 Minutes Price: $25/ pp ๐๐ ท๐ ด ๐๐๐ พ๐๐ You have stepped through a portal and landed in an enchanted forest. However, the portal quickly closed behind you and you feel trapped in an unfamiliar place. A storm is brewing and the enchanted forest feels like a dark presence has fallen over it. This seems to be a wizard's hut. Is he good? Is he evil? What can you learn to help you return home and save the forest? Will you have enough time? Video above is property of Isolvu Escape Room ๐๐ ท๐ ด ๐ ถ๐ ฐ๐ ผ๐ ด ๐ ฟ๐ ป๐ ฐ๐ The Enchanted Forest is a remote escape game where you can guide an avatar in the actual room, and let them know what would you like to see/try. Upon entering a Telescape link (where it is being used as an inventory system), we were directed into a Zoom call. Our game master was waiting for us inside. Once we were all in, she gave us a short briefing on the story and we watched a quick intro video on Telescape before the game officially started. It is recommended to have 2 screens (if possible) as you can use one screen for Zoom so you can communicate with the avatar and the other for Telescape. Telescape provided a 360 view of the same room which allowed individual teammates explore the room at their own pace. This also gave a little breather time for the avatar as not everyone will be shouting at her at the same time as some players will be looking at Telescape instead. Anytime a new item is found, it will appear in Telescape to remind us what else can be used. Whenever we used an item, it would disappear from the inventory which was nice to keep us organized. The music in the background was just right giving us a little bit of that magical feel. It's hard to add special effects through online games but there was a moment in the game we've experienced a "wow" moment through lighting and sound. ๐๐ ท๐ ด ๐ ฟ๐๐๐๐ ป๐ ด๐ The puzzles all suited the theme of an enchanted forest. The decor, setup and props all depict a forest that is full of magical things. When solving these puzzles, you can see magic wands, magic lights, colorful lights, music etc. Everything really blends in with the environment. It helps that the puzzle components appear on Telescape too, so participants can try it out instead of asking the avatar to 'try this' or 'try that'. Some puzzles were also interactive within Telescape as well so all the teammates got a chance to try it out. Most puzzles are on the simple side, so enthusiasts might be able to solve some of them quite quickly. There was two puzzles that we think could be better played as IRL experiences rather than online as it doesn't translate as smoothly due to the props necessary to create the effect. For families and younger children, they can be prepared to be amazed as most puzzles are mechanisms that would trigger a magical effect when solved! Photos above are property of Isolvu Escape Room ๐ ฒ๐ ป๐ พ๐๐ ธ๐ ฝ๐ ถ ๐๐ ท๐ พ๐๐ ถ๐ ท๐๐ Overall, I really enjoyed The Enchanted Forest. Even though my team members and myself are considered enthusiasts and the puzzles are mostly on the easier side for us, everything just seems to fall into place smoothly. Hence, it shows that an escape room is not purely about puzzles, but the room set up, execution and game master (in cases of remote games), all play a part in delivering a wonderful experience. We had a friendly game master and immediately made us feel at home upon entering the 'forest'. I will recommend this game to just about any group, but especially for families with younger children as they will definitely have a blast playing this! But hey, aren't we all just big kids at heart? *** We regret to inform you that this company has closed its doors *** Disclosure : We thank Isolvu Escape Room for comping our tickets for this game. LOCATION: Tampa, Florida, USA Photo above is property of Imagine Escape Rooms Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ย ย ETR DECODER ๐ GAME : ReSEArch ๐ DATE PLAYED : November 17, 2021 ๐ฌ GENRE : Adventure ๐ง DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 7.5/10 ๐ฅ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 2-7 ppl ๐ LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins. ๐ฐ PRICE : $37.99/ pp โ๏ธ BOOKING TYPE : Private ๐ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes ๐ THE STORY You and your team have been assigned to retrieve Sub-Zero, a thermo-regulator developed by the sinister Professor Finn. It's located somewhere inside her secret underwater laboratory. Your mission is to infiltrate the lab and escape with Sub-Zero before the professor returns! You have one-hour... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE The latter part of the game's set design felt a lot more embellished. The window (a.k.a. TV screen) with occasional shark appearance does make the underwater feel more realistic. The added storyline during the latter part of the story started to piece all the information together. One really cool apparatus actually made it feel like we're tracking sharks. ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK Some props seem over used in this room. Some TLC is required. Certain items might also need to be reglued if not relevant to a puzzle. One of the puzzles in the beginning of the puzzle was quite confusing in terms of the directional clue. One puzzle that involved "spilling out" something gave the impressing that it would be messing up the space. Perhaps if a bucket was presented we wouldn't need an extra clue from the game master. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? There was a bit of an imbalance between the set design for the first part of the game and the second part. It almost feels like it should be redone to match the quality of the second half. The puzzles themselves are also better reasoned in the latter part. We didn't really understand the relevance of the first half of the game besides needing a way in. There could be less puzzles in that room if it's merely for a secret entrance. The idea behind the room was unique and the twist in the story for who Professor Finn really is made us feel like there's definitely potential in this game. This location is previously owned by a different company. We look forward to seeing how Breakout Games would make it their own when the takeover is finalized. It's believed to be located somewhere far underground. Do you have what it takes to find it? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE When we entered the room, we thought we were on the set of "Aladdin". It really bought memories back when we visited the street markets in Morocco. This is a nonlinear room. It would be wise to divide and conquer throughout the game as it's puzzle heavy. We definitely appreciated each other's strength as Brandon was thankful for my Math and deduction skills while I was thankful for his athletic contributions. The puzzles varied in terms of difficulty level. We actually had moments to enjoy a fun game (well more Brandon than me since I felt more like a Caddie). The tech on the apparatuses in the latter part of the game was spot on with the mythical theme. ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK The puzzles for the beginning part of the game felt a lot more solvable and fun. The second part of the game, the puzzles got a lot harder but in a more tedious way. There were memory testers, alchemy arrangements, and one puzzle that really hurt our necks. From a player's perspective, it wasn't comfortable to be staring for that long especially when the items are too small to identify. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? Overall we did enjoy the game. The feedback we have would be mainly for the second part of the game. Since this game's theme is more on the mythical side and most of the puzzles at the beginning of the game was on the easier side, keeping the consistency would be great. The mythical part also felt like it should be more ancient rather than technical. Definitely don't waste too much time on the first part of the game and bring more people if you're new at escape rooms to conquer the latter part of the room. It really fulfilled our itch for escape rooms during this quarantine period. We didn't know what to expect and was very curious as to how we would feel having someone else play the game for us. Does that mean we're not solving any puzzles? Our avatar was very much in character playing someone who's been kidnapped. This is definitely an important immersive element now in these remote escape rooms since we're losing the light and sound perspective so a fun experience and a positive review depends a lot on how the avatar "plays" the game. We enjoyed the "urgency" reminders though his time checks as it felt like we're actually there. The room was also nicely decorated with just the right amount of decor to avoid any red herring. A nice overview of the room will be sent to you beforehand so you can direct your avatar with ease. I'm glad we were introduced with this positive experience as our first remote escape room as we've been trying more of them ever since! Be prepared with some pen and paper because your game starts NOW! *** This game can no longer be booked as a remote game but can still be booked as an in-person experience *** (If you do decide to try this game, please remember to let them know that you heard it from" ESCAPETHEROOMers "!) Malta. As we tried our best to figure out the public bus system from Valetta, it wasnโt the easiest. If you decide to take the public bus, do give yourself ample time to figure out the ticket system and the routes. We will give a little tutorial in our Malta travel vlog soon. Once we got to the stop โGalluโ, we walked about 6 minutes until we reached the escape room. The area felt quite residential.ย Can you Escape? Malta has a big sign, so you canโt miss it. They are located on the second floor so be prepared for some stairs. Once you enter, thereโs a smaller lobby waiting area but donโt worry if you have a large group as they also have a large waiting/party room that can accommodate more. The room we are trying today is their newest room and we are already very excited by its title: โThe Forbidden Castleโ. Our mission today is to enter the Degabriele familyโs castle to try to find four special gemstones that was stolen from Maltaโs National Museum in 1800s. It seems like thereโs a dark secret in this castle as no one that has entered ever returned. Our recommendations (which is also on their website) for this room is to wear comfortable shoes and clothing, no dangling jewelry and 18+ would be great for safety reasons. Although the game is not recommended for 2 players as there are a lot of puzzles, we decided to take the challenge anyways. We loved the design of the room and how it felt very castle-like. The up-keeping and maintenance was great and everything worked smoothly. There were a few new puzzleโs that weโve never seen before in terms of how they were utilized. Teamwork is the key in this room. There was one tech puzzle that we thought didnโt really fit the era but other than that, everything else was pretty in line with the story. We liked how the ending gave a full explanation as to what the story was revealing. Mainly because we feel some escape rooms forget to do that and then the final puzzle just turns out to be something to just fit it in so that they can get a key and exit.ย We did manage to escape with minutes to spare but this is a fairly large room and you will need to โtravelโ quite a bit but thatโs what made it different and fun! We really enjoyed this room and hopefully we have a chance to return in the future to check out their other creations as currently they have two other rooms here called โSpaceship Escapeโ & โThe Pub Escapeโ. The entire city has been burning for two days now and they still have not yet captured the culprit behind this devastating event. Is it another attack in the long-running feud with the Catholics? A retaliation in the war with the Dutch? Or is it just an accident? Only the result of your investigation can save the city from chaos. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE "Pudding Lane -1966" accurately depicted a historical moment. We really felt the fire around us. The room was smokey and even the temperature was warmer. The puzzles were beautifully orchestrated into the set design. Each storefront had a mini-puzzle which led to the next. The start of the room made us work together in a linear fashion but gave us a chance to divide and conquer in the latter part. There was a traditional maze puzzle that the creator was able to convert into a more intricate idea that we have never seen before. Our favorite puzzles were the multi-step ones. They really made us think back to what could correlate with each other. The set design always managed to surprise us. You never know where the next hidden reveal would be. The narrative ending gave us a clear explanation of the developing story. ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK Nothing to say in this section. We loved everything about the game. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? " Pudding Lane -1966 " is one of our favorite escape rooms on this UK tour. The stunning set design, satiable puzzles, and unique plot took us on a journey that we will never forget. The room - named "Bobo's Bounty" - is based on the golden era Simpsons episode "Rosebud", which for the non cinephiles, is a play on the classic movie Citizen Kane, specifically the main character's titular cherished snow sled named "Rosebud". In this case it is a cherished and forgotten bear, Bobo, symbolic of Montgomery Burns nostalgia for the more innocent and carefree days of his youth, lost during his rags to riches rise, which parallels and parodies Kane's own emotional journey back to his beloved Rosebud. In the episode, during a spell of anhedonia and malaise, Burns recalls the lost bear, wishing to be reunited with what he claims now was the only thing that ever made him happy. Except he abandoned it long ago, only for it to now somehow end up, after a long and improbable journey, in the hands of Maggie, who has presumably hidden it within the Simpsons house. Burns is willing to pay handsomely anyone who can find and return him his precious lost bear, so it's up to you to find Bobo and collect Burn's bounty! Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE God I love "The Simpsons", it is the perfect theme for a TV culture room. Experiencing this room was a Proustian moment that brought on a recollective flood of special memories. I just loved the challenge of plumbing the depth of my brain to remember a show I loved so fondly. It was all so fun and warm and nostalgic. The rooms were a labor of love and a work of art, and a trove of memorabilia and references. The puzzles were cleverly constructed and did a great job of incorporating Simpsons trivia and lore. There was enough for everyone to work on, and the room had a good flow to it. The music speaker hint system works well at helping the game move along, as well as also being a great atmospheric backdrop. The host knew just when the group needed a little nudge to help us move forward. Full disclaimer: you don't actually need to know anything about the Simpsons to enjoy and complete the room, in fact it could very well serve as a great first contact for this cultural touchstone. On the other hand it does help, as a lot of the puzzles are unsurprisingly based on the more popular of Simpsons references. ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK It's cleverly done but low tech, and still generally reliant on codes and locks. So don't expect any highfaluting gizmos or gadgets. That being said they did a good job though with the props and forming puzzles out of them in ingenious ways. Knowing Simpsons trivia could to a degree be a limiting factor, but who doesn't know the Simpsons. Maybe that's a reason to get on your duff and spend some magical hours revisiting the series, it might just culturally embiggen you, and that's a perfectly cromulent take! All the time I was thinking to myself: they have a speaker giving us audio clips and clues, but why don't they have a TV to show us the actual clips, given how great the visuals are. I think that's something they should implement going forward. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? Pound on the table yes. These folks are doing great work, and I think the room is fun as hell, for both the enthusiast and for those peculiar individuals who didn't spend their entire childhood watching the Simpsons. For enthusiasts you will relish the sublime feeling of recalling those golden memories, and for the more initiate type, you will get the very best Simpsons education money can buy. They manage to pack in a lot of nifty puzzles and props and to traverse an impressive amount of popular Simpsons lore. The space is also a work of art and a wonder to behold. The hosts too are quite fun and attentive stewards, you'll be in good hands. โน๏ธ ADDITIONAL INFO Public Street parking nearby Located in a nice trendy neighborhood, lots of amenities nearby Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers *** We regret to inform this game is no longer available for booking but check out other games on their website *** (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from " ESCAPETHEROOMers "!) Our second room here is one of my favorite themes: โThe Magicianโs Secretโ. The story line is that Farazan, a great magician, was performing in his last show at the "1893 Worldโs fair" and just vanished along with a very rare and valuable Queenโs diamond!ย HmmโฆI wonder what happened there? We were sent into the room to investigate this century old mystery. As we entered, the theme felt like we arrived at a circus fair. The maintenance of the condition of the room and props were great. We knew from the previous roomโs mistake that we had to start cracking down on puzzles right away as there seemed to be a lot of obvious non-linear ones, we each can take on. There was one particular puzzle we felt the wording was a bit confusing, so we had to use a hint on that just to make sure we were in line with their thought process. It was fun to follow through once we knew what they were going for. There was a good amount of tech mixed with the traditional locked puzzles in this room. One prop took a while to operate on as it had to be very exact. This puzzle was also a bit more challenging for me to operate on as it took some strength and having a height advantage would be helpful. Even though the difficulty level was rated higher for this room than the pirate room on their website, we were able to escape with two people with ample time left on the clock. That is why itโs hard to rate the difficulty levels for the escape rooms as what one determines as easy may be harder for another. Overall, we enjoyed this room, but we are super psyched to try out their โQuarantineโ room next as thereโs quite a bit of โexcitementโ we heard that awaits us in thereโฆ. There is plenty of parking available at their location. They have a cute little lobby area with plenty of seating and youโre offered a bottle of water and a bracelet for the game that you are playing, so collect them all! The first game weโre attempting today is their โPirates of the Golden Skullโ room. Like usual, itโs just the two of us (note that our difficulty level rating above is based on 2 people). Our mission was to steal the treasure from the infamous captain David S. Calabaza but unfortunately, we were caught and now we are trying to escape The Plunder (his ship) and take the hidden treasure with us. Upon entering, we were divided right away. I like these separation chambers as it makes us HAVE to work together to solve the puzzles but it also feels a bit more like we are competing with each other to see who would get out of the room first (cโmon, do you have to ask who won? ). We felt the set design was on point along with the lighting and sound effects and it felt like we were in an actual pirate ship. As usual, we took our time to absorb the roomโs design elements and forgot that we were on the clock. We also had a bit of a slow start in the beginning and wasted about 10 minutes in that first room (I guess the coffee hadn't kicked in yet). That was a mistake. Once we realized that there was a lot to do ahead, we had to start to pick up the pace. This game does require some searching as well as problem solving so with just the two of us it was a bit difficult. There were a few pieces that I thought could be a bit challenging with my height (5-feet), but good thing my other half got me covered.ย The dim lighting (while great for the ambience) made it quite hard to see. Especially for some of the essential clues that we needed. We appreciated that the design props stuck with the theme of the room and the puzzles were very relatable to the storyline throughout. For this room I would recommend at least three people as having an extra pair of hands for item searching while others try to piece together other puzzles of the room would probably be the best way to tackle this room. Unfortunately, we were a few puzzles away from getting out, but it was still a lot of fun to see the ending explained. ย ย We did see the disclaimer on their website for enthusiasts that there may be a similar game found at another escape room in NJ. We havenโt encountered this problem yet, but it is something to take note on if you have played many pirate-themed rooms in NJ. You might want to call them just to make sure prior to booking. Now that weโre warmed up, we canโt wait to redeem ourselves in โThe Magicianโs Secretโ room next!ย Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from " ESCAPETHEROOMers "!) You are part of the Revenant Corps which is a special task force team assigned to break in to the base and save humanity! Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE From the moment we stepped inside the room our mission began. The briefing video really set the tone and provided us with a sense of urgency from the beginning. We love zombie storylines that hypothetically put us in survival mode. The set design was an eerie laboratory. It fees like something might pop out at you any moment but there's no live actors (unless you request one). Everything was high tech and looked like a scene from Resident Evil! For the puzzles designs, there was a good mixture of physical challenges, traditional & tech-based locks that we needed to open! Some physical challenges involved making an antidote and the steps to that really made us feel like we're trying to save the human race! ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK Certain keypads in the room functioned differently than the others. We overlooked to try one until a bit later because we thought we needed a code as all the others needed one. That particular one only just needed a swipe. Perhaps make that one different than the others so players wouldn't assume the same action. One particular puzzle needed knowledge of time zones which wasn't really given on the clue. It would help to add that on in case players are confused about and would be easier for game masters to clue with the numbered lines. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? In " Quarantine ", there's an optional version to have a live actor inside the room playing a zombie chained up. As the time dwindles down, the chain starts to get loose. As an added challenge, if the zombie manages touch you or one of your teammates, you are then required to go into the quarantine chamber pod for 2 minutes. Obviously, Cici opted out of this version. But if you like the thrill of a zombie changing after you while solving puzzles, definitely give it a go! Otherwise, the "scaredy cat" version....I mean the regular version is just as great! So far, we've played all 4 rooms available by Solve It Sherlock - " Pirates of the Golden Skull ", " The Magician's Secret ", "Quarantine" and " Legend of the Pines ". The local legend has it, anyone who doesn't find the 3 sacred stones in time will be cursed forever. Since the stones are of great value, you decide to take your chances and leave it up to fate for the next 60 minutes... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE The ambiance lighting really made a difference in this room. The red aura added a mysterious feel along with a hidden danger vibe right when we entered the temple. Although the room is a square-shaped room, the owner definitely gave some thought as to how to make it harder for the players to guess where the hidden entrance to the second area is located. The game flow was pretty smooth. We discovered items that led us to solve the first puzzle and then the next. Some parts of the game were linear but there were others that we were able to divide and conquer as well. There was a good variation in physical, visual, music, and memory puzzles. It was nice to have a confirmation on the finale versus having to exit with a key. There were no physical keys and locks in this room which made sense in an ancient temple. ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK The cipher wheel was a bit confusing as we were unsure of the starting point. Also, the usage was quite different than what we were used to as it wasn't actually transcribing anything. One of the items in the journal had a drawing of an item that we haven't seen in the room. Perhaps the physical item changed? I don't think we ended up using that page. The input on a chest needed some clarification on where the pointers are located. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? We enjoyed the fact that there wasn't a lot search and find involved in this room. Typically, ancient temple rooms also have a lot of translation puzzles but we were delighted to find out that they went a different route. The storyline and the goal of the game were in congruence. It was a fun room and can easily be completed by beginners as well. This is the first set design built by Solve it Sherlock in-house. They did a great job, especially being a family-owned business. There were a lot of details that went into the temple walls, vines, and drawings of the ancient symbols. We can't wait to see what they come up with in their next adventure! โน๏ธ ADDITIONAL INFO This room is on the 2nd floor but they do have same-level access. This room is wheelchair accessible. Legend has it, that there's been sightings of the Jersey Devil in this area. The park ranger has done extensive research on this mythical creature and thinks he has finally discovered the information that could save him. Unfortunately, the park ranger is no where to be found and you and your friends will have to find a way into the station, find his research and finish what he started! Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE We love games that starts you off outside of the room and you'll have to figure your way in. With "Legend of the Pines", you start in the forest staring at the facade of a Ranger Station. The set design was incredible! There were pine needles all over the floor, a creaky porch, a generator, and an outhouse. Right when we step foot into the escape room, we felt like we're transported into a new realm. We really enjoyed the fact that we had to think about how to get into the cabin like in a real life situation. We needed to use the props that were provided in order to make things work. All the puzzles made sense given our environment and tasks at hand. Physical puzzle designs were implemented at the right time and enhanced the gameplay experience by doing so. Although the room itself is not as big, the creator used every inch of the space. From the beginning, the story slowly unraveled before us which led to a climactic ending and we were pleasantly surprised! They definitely did NOT disappoint with delivering that "wow" ending!! ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK With a game this solid, it's hard to say what we thought missed the mark. Without giving away any spoilers, the only thing that comes to mind is that one of the puzzles required extreme accuracy in order for something to happen. Certainly not a deal breaker at all. You Just have to be patient and give it a few tries. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? The "Legend of the Pines" was extremely story-driven with enough information to truly allow you to feel part of the narrative. We definitely felt like characters inside of a Grimms' Fairy Tales! So if you love story-driven games with a good mixture of physical and logic puzzles, you must visit Solve It Sherlock and try this game!! - Sure Locke Escape Rooms - "Tooly Theatre"
LOCATION: Athol, Massachusetts, USA Photo above is property of Sure Locke Escape Rooms Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ย ย ETR DECODER ๐ GAME : Tooly Theatre ๐ DATE PLAYED : October 3, 2021 ๐ฌ GENRE : Mystery ๐ง DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 ppl) : 5.5/10 ๐ฅ TOTAL # OF PLAYERS : 4-8 ppl ๐ LENGTH OF TIME : 60 Mins. ๐ฐ PRICE : $30.00/ pp (Min. 4 ppl required) โ๏ธ BOOKING TYPE : Private ๐ ESCAPED/ COMPLETED? : Yes ๐ THE STORY The mayor has placed booby traps inside of the Tooly Theatre in order to protect his secret plans. You have one hour to get in, find the plans, and escape before the mayor arrives. But be careful...he's definitely not making this easy for you... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers ๐ฏ HIT THE BULLSEYE The concept of finding a way inside of the " Tooly Theatre " was an added bonus (Full disclosure we didn't get to experience it because we had a mix up with the clue that was handed to us but from what the owner told us it's a fun puzzle to figure out). Since this is an abandoned theater, the props used (old soda and popcorn machines, teared up posters and dusty theater seats) really portrayed the storyline. ๐งฉ MISSED THE MARK ** Full disclosure - the owner did tell us that they will be opening this room soon and it's still being beta-tested, so below is what we've experienced during this process. The owner has informed that the game can be set to various difficulty levels so during our game, we had a lock that was used in a previous game and although we had the correct combo it didn't open and the GM had to give us the code instead There were some big logic leaps in some puzzles that as enthusiasts it was quite difficult for us to wrap our head around. There were some spots on the wall that we had to discovery that served as red herring as they had no relevance to the game. This is a gen-1 one and there was a prop used in there that we had to use a bit more than "two finger strength" to open as most of the scenarios that would've been a magnetic lock but since this is a manual operation, we were worried about breaking the prop so a clue was used. ๐น TAKE A SHOT? Since we played it in beta testing stage and gave a good amount of feedback to the owner, we hope the game will be more ready to be played in the future. The concept is fun and there are some elements in the game that we saw potential in but in the current stages, there's still a good amount of work that needs to be put in to polish up the game. The introduction and game mastering needed to be improved as well. The game flow wasn't there as some of the more established escape room. But since they are new, we hope to see some improvements from them in the near future! โน๏ธ ย ADDITIONAL INFO Street parking available (metered) Lobby area with games Merchandise available for purchase Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers *** We regret to inform you that this company has closed its doors *** Disclosure : We thank Sure Locke Escape Rooms for comping our tickets for this game. Being that its steps away from the brand new MGM hotel & casino, it's a great way to "escape" from the casino for some real fun. The lobby feels more like a bar setting and the owner did express his intention to acquire a liquor license so can add alcohol to his food and beverage menu that he currently offers. The owner is amazing with his carpentry and electrical engineering skills. He builds all the rooms by himself. There's definitely a few innovative ideas and props that he installed in there that we've never seen before. There was a few hiccups while we were playing with the tech puzzles but he was able to correct it immediately (we could've given a higher rating if these issues didn't occur). We felt that one of the puzzles was quite physically challenging with two people, but he said he's going to fix that so it can be a bit easier for the future players. There's no red herrings in the gameplay and the theme of the room felt quite immersive. We decided to try his other room - "The Vampire Hunter" back-to-back. *** We regret to inform you that this company has closed its doors *** #CiciCao #review #escaperooms #escape #rooms #games #springfieldsgreatescape #thearchaeologist #massachusetts #springfield #ma
