  • REMOTE: Trap Factory - "House of Mystery"

Photos provided by Trap Factory Company: Trap Factory Game: House of Mystery Country: Finland 🇫🇮 Language: English, Finnish Type of Game: Remote Escape Room 🗣 Genre: Magician, Mystery Date Played: 4/13/2021 Difficulty (based on 6 players): 5/10 Size of Team: 1-7 Players (Recommended 4 Players, Age 12+) Time: 60 Minutes Price: €80/ Team 🆃🅷🅴 🆂🆃🅾🆁🆈 You received a call from the Magician's assistant requesting for your help in finding something that the Magician needs for his show. The show is in an hour and everything in his room looks like a puzzle to you. Would you be able to find the item and save the show? 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 Our avatar met us on Zoom and greeted us in what seemed like a Magician's dresser room. This is one of Trap Factory's oldest rooms so its mostly equipped with padlocks and combination locks. The props you'll see in this room will be normal items you'll see associated with Magicians like hat, wand, cards, etc. We did discover some hidden compartments in the latter part of the game but it would've been difficult to spot ourselves without the GM's nudges. Perhaps an added clue would resolve this issue. The Telescape inventory system was useful at giving us a closer look at the clues we've collected along the way. It would've been nice if the game could provide us with a 360 view of the room so we could do some exploration separately rather than being stuck together as a group for the entire game. 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 The puzzles were quite easy for enthusiasts especially when we had a group of 6. There was one item that were used numerous times to identify various three digit locks in the room. There were no ways of telling which lock would open with which solution so we also had to watch the GM try each and every one of them. For in person it would be fine since we could have multiple players trying on various locks but it did get tedious watching the GM trying them one by one online. It would help to have some kind of identifier as to which lock belongs to which puzzle for the online version. There was also one puzzle where we had to redo because we didn't know we haven't gotten all the props we needed. That puzzle felt like something that could be translated to Telescape as an interactive puzzle for players versus verbal directions to the GM. 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 Our GM did a great job with knowing when to provide us with some nudges as certain things are just not visible through the camera angles. Being that this was Trap Factory's first remote escape experience, we could definitely see the potential in their future games. This one did not give us that vibe of being in a Magician's room as some things felt lost through the online translation. I look forward to seeing what they'll be able to create with their other 7 games as they have plans to put all of them online in the near future! 𝔼𝕊ℂ𝔸ℙ𝔼𝕋ℍ𝔼ℝ𝕆𝕆𝕄𝕖𝕣𝕤 ℙ𝕒𝕥𝕣𝕠𝕟❜𝕤 𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤 Melvin L. When the game started, we were welcomed into a Magician's dressing room, where we were told that we need to help his Assistant to obtain something important for the Magician. It was a remote escape game, so we will be 'controlling' the assistant in the room itself. On top of that, there was an inventory system (Telescape), that will update the items we have gotten when we have 'seen' or 'explored' it in the actual room with the assistant (or Avatar). The set up of the rooms looks great, truly sticking to the theme of magic. Props and furniture were all in line with the magic theme. There were some interesting and creative tasks to execute that I have never seen in an escape room before, but this also shows that it would have been a more fun room to play in person than remotely. It was mainly a 'searching' for hidden items, panels and props type of room, rather than a mind bending puzzle game (which greater emphasis the fact that it would have been better to play it in person). As per the theme of magic, there will be certain props that you expect to be in this room, for example, playing cards and their suits. The issue I had was it was literally almost everywhere. Thus, it was confusing as you are not sure when is the correct time to use a certain prop, or when was it meant to use another. It also adds to the fact that there are ALOT of number padlocks that contain the same set of numbers. This means that once you find a solution, you have no idea which padlock it goes to, you have to try 1 by 1. In a remote version, the avatar could 'pretend' to try 1 by 1 if your group has a lot of time, or the avatar could 'pretend' to go straight to the correct padlock and try it. I guess this is the advantage of a remote version but it felt weird as they had coloured keys to match with coloured padlocks, but they did not do any matching with their number padlocks. The telescape system encourages players to all work together on some digital puzzles, which was a good point. However, 1 or 2 such puzzles were non linear. That means when 1/2 players are working on the digital puzzle on Telescape, the others could resume the game with the avatar. This has its pros and cons, because for example, I was working on the Telescape puzzle, and the rest were moving on with other stuff. When i finally looked back into Zoom, it was confusing to see what have been used, or which puzzle/padlock have been opened (and it doesn't help they had ALOT) of padlocks, so in a way, I kind of missed out on some stuff and it would have been time consuming to ask the avatar to try something when earlier, my teammates could have already said the same thing. Overall, I would rate this room as Worth a Try, for the hospitality of the game master, the room design and set up and the teamwork involved in some puzzles (Telescape). However, just be prepared to discuss with your team after the game what you have missed as it is easy to be confused in the remote version of House of Mystery. Krista J. Pros: We had a lot of fun playing this one! It's a light-hearted theme, which we always appreciate, and our avatar totally matched that with her bubbly energy. We enjoyed that there were some interactive elements in the Telescape side of things, and generally found the puzzles to be cute and fun. There were a lot of locks, and we really appreciated that the key locks were color-coded. There was one really adorable aspect near the end that we hadn't seen before and wished we could have done in person! We also appreciated our avatar taking the time to talk through the game with us afterwards. We always find this super helpful, even when we win, because undoubtedly certain members of the group missed some puzzles or aspects. It's great to have the opportunity to have any questions answered. Also - you get to play a game in Finland! Cons: We would have loved a 360-degree image of the room in Telescape, just to allow a bit more multi-tasking. There are also a LOT of 3-digit locks in the room, and it would have been fantastic if they were also coded in some way (like the key locks), so that you didn't have to try every 3-digit combo in multiple locks at random. Thankfully, our avatar was quick in trying out combos! We got a bit confused about one puzzle aspect for a while; we figured it out in the end, but there could be ways to reduce the confusion for those puzzles. Who should play: This is a lighthearted, family-friendly game with a lot of heart. While there are some more challenging elements, this is certainly a game that you could play with kids or non-enthusiasts. If you're not deterred by an abundance of locks, you might also find this to be a really fun and endearing game! *** This game can no longer be booked as a remote game but can still be booked as an in-person experience *** (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) • Lockdown Paphos (Kato Paphos) - "Tomb of the Kings"

LOCATION: Kato Paphos, Cyprus Photo above is property of Lockdown Paphos Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Date Played: April 12, 2022 Genre: Adventure Difficulty (Based on 2 PPL): 4.5/10 Total # of Players: 2-6 PPL Length of Time: 60 Minutes Price: €12-22/PP (pending on the amount of players) Booking Type: Private Escaped? Yes 📖 THE STORY Many ancient wonders have been unearthed in Kato Paphos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the archaeological site of the Tombs of the Kings is located. There have been strange occurrences lately at the Tombs of the Kings: Site X. Our team of archaeologists has been called in to research and report back anything we can find in the sacred tomb... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE We love it when an escape room is themed after or around a local legend or history. This room is inspired by the archaeological site of the Tombs of the Kings which is located in town. It gives us a chance to learn some history while playing the game. When we entered the room, we didn't know what to expect. There was this enormous rock formation and this huge wooden shipping crate. We thought that this was our game and everything that we needed to solve was right in front of us, we were pleasantly deceived. There were a lot of twists and turns which we didn't expect from just looking around the room. The puzzles were not too difficult but a lot of fun to solve especially when "adventure" type of actions were involved. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK One of the devices that we had to find information on felt like there were too many "options" that we had to look through. Perhaps clearing some of the history on it would help identify what we were actually looking for. One of the props in the later part of the game didn't quite fit into the theme. Perhaps a more custom-made prop for that era or something an archeological team would use as a tool could be more fitting. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This is yet another fun experience for families and young explorers. The discoveries made on this journey will definitely surprise them especially if they haven't played many escape rooms before. We were surprised by their set design given that props are super difficult to get on an island country. It really shows that they are enthusiasts themselves and really care about the experience they present to the players. You can be easily hooked after playing one game. Good news is they have two other games at this location: "Wizard School" and "Space Station". Lockdown Paphos also has a newer location with easier and more kid's friendly games at Leonardo Laura Beach Hotel and Splash Resort in Chloraka, Cyprus. They currently have (2) games available there - "The Super Lab" and "Smuggler's Bay". ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Street parking (suggested to park at the mall across the street) Lobby with seating area Some games are located on the 2nd floor Some minor crawling involved in this game Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) • REMOTE: Lockdown Paphos - "Space Station Online"

Photos provided by Lockdown Paphos Company: Lockdown Paphos Game: Space Station Online Country: Cyprus 🇨🇾 Language: English Type of Game: Remote Escape Room 🗣 Genre: Space Date Played: January 17, 2021 Difficulty (based on 4 players): 5/10 Size of Team: Up to 8 Connections (3-6 Players recommended) Time: 60 Minutes Price: Mon-Fri €60, Weekend €80, (Up to 8 Connections) 🆃🅷🅴 🆂🆃🅾🆁🆈 The Space Station was redeployed after 60 years. It seems like all crew members have been evacuated and no one is on board this ship to help stabilize its reactor. If the station hits Earth, the result will be catastrophic. We need to guide the space engineer (send by the agency) via a video transmission to stabilize the reactor and save Earth! 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 Matthew, our space engineer greeted us in his uniform outside what looked like a spaceship. He was in character throughout the game play and we really enjoyed his humor. He had great control with the camera angles. This in turn made us visualize the room and the puzzles with ease. There wasn't really a need for an inventory system for this game since the only item that we really need to see in detail was sent to us through email prior to the game. The only thing I can think of which may enhance the game play would be having audio and interactive puzzles build into an inventory system like Telescape. Although we didn't use any hints, we strongly suggest interactions with Eddie if you have extra time or actually need a hint during the game, We don't usually see many ideas on how hints are given during remote escape room play but this was quite clever. 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 The puzzles might seem quite easy for enthusiasts but it had a nice flow. There were no red herrings and it was quite clear on what we needed to do. There was one physical puzzle that we had to watch Matthew complete but he was quite good at so it didn't drag on for too long. This would've been one that I would suggest putting on an online system where the players are able to play the puzzle on their own to complete this task. We enjoyed feeling the urgency through the timer for a puzzle towards the end. It gave us some flashback memories on when we played in person escape rooms. The only issue we had was that the sequence was quite long so if you mess up the first time, you might not have enough time to complete it (the owner did inform us that you'll still be able to complete the game even if the timer does run out). Our suggestion would be to make this to be a shorter sequence or put it up as an online puzzle for players to complete. Overall, we had a lot of fun with the different puzzle types as there was a good mixture of locks and tech. 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 We continuously emphasize on the importance of avatar's character play for remote escape rooms. If we're playing these games in person, we would be enjoying the tactile aspect of the game. Since we're unable to do so, we are solely relying on the avatar's actions to bring out what we can not feel. Matthew was a natural at this. He made the game really fun for us. Who knows when we'll be able to make it to Cyprus. But thanks to Lockdown Paphos, we can be entertained from the comfort of our homes! 𝔼𝕊ℂ𝔸ℙ𝔼𝕋ℍ𝔼ℝ𝕆𝕆𝕄𝕖𝕣𝕤❜ ℙ.𝕀.𝕤❜ 𝕋𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤 David S. & Sam N. Overall, as a digital room we think it was well put together and worked well. The game master did a fantastic job at making sure to not lead us to the answers and had great camera work (moving slowly, showing everything in frame). There was one puzzle that didn't work as well for a digital experience because the game master was the one in charge of doing it and we were entirely up to the wim of how good he was at it. That being said, I don't think it ruined anything. The overall quality and aesthetic of the game was great and engaging. The game master did a great job of staying in character and engaging with the group, while also not wasting time. The puzzles were decently easy, but I don't know the difficulty of the room. We both really enjoyed the way the game master didn't just inform us of the solution but described them in various ways to still make us think. The game was clearly meant for an in person experience, but it was transitioned well into digital. *** This game can no longer be booked as a remote game but can still be booked as an in-person experience *** (If you do decide to try this experience, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) • Lockdown Paphos (Chloraka) - "Smuggler's Bay"

LOCATION: Chloraka, Cyprus Photo above is property of Lockdown Paphos Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Date Played: April 12, 2022 Genre: Adventure Difficulty (Based on 2 PPL): 4.5/10 Total # of Players: 2-6 PPL Length of Time: 60 Minutes Price: €12-22/PP (pending on the amount of players) Booking Type: Private Escaped? Yes 📖 THE STORY Argh Matey!! Care to board the pirate ship of Captain Jack Pigeon to Smuggler's Bay? Me thinks there be treasure there... Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The owners put a lot of thought into the set design especially being on an island country like Cyprus where it's quite difficult to get props. The room actually has squeaky wooden floors, netted ceilings, treasure chests, real sand, etc... We enjoyed the change of scenery from being on the ship to off the ship. It was nice to be able to "travel" within an adventure-themed game as if you're really searching for that treasure. The room is quite logical and very clear to the point in terms of puzzles as it's intended for beginners and families. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK As enthusiasts, you might be confused by some of the "clues" that are in the room that are intended for beginners and kids since this room is designed more geared towards those types of players. Perhaps the GM can be more active in informing the experienced players to ignore or bypass those " helpful clues" when the time comes as they're not really needed in order to solve certain puzzles. As a pirate-themed game, we felt that some of the 4-digit locks could be replaced with old-looking treasure locks to stick with the theme. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This Lockdown Paphos location is in inside the all-inclusive Leonardo Laura Beach Hotel and Splash Resort in Chloraka, Cyprus. Being that it's located in the hotel, there are a lot of first-timers and families. This game is designed not to be so difficult but more for fun. Many groups try this game first and come back for the second one ("The Super Lab" ) the next day. If you're in the area for vacation and want to give an escape room a try (especially if you have kids), definitely sign up for this treasure-hunting journey! Lockdown Paphos' other location (their original) is in Kato Paphos, Cyprus. They currently have (3) games available there - "Wizard School", "Space Station", and "Tomb of the Kings" . The area has a mall and lots of restaurants. So once you think you're ready for more challenging rooms, definitely check out these as well. ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Free parking lot Located inside the Leonardo Laura Beach Hotel and Splash Resort (all-inclusive) Lobby with seating area Located in the basement one floor down Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) • Puzzle Punks - Dubrovnik Escape Room - "Save King's Landing"

LOCATION: Dubrovnik, Croatia Photo + video property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Date Played:  July 25, 2019 Price: $28-$35/pp (pending on the amt of ppl) Length of Time: 60 Minutes Total # of Players: Up To 5PPL Difficulty Level: 7/10 Public/Private: Private Escaped? Yes Hint: You may have to use it again for a new decryption We have finally arrived in the beautiful city of Dubrovnik, Croatia! Words cannot describe how amazing the city walls are in the Old Town. It's no wonder "Game of Thrones" chose to film a lot of their episodes here. So you can imagine how excited we were to find out that there’s also an escape room here! It's the only escape room company in town and they have a "Game of Thrones" inspired game called “Save King’s Landing”! What are we waiting for? Uber is wildly used here and it’s much cheaper than a regular taxi. The buses will probably end up being more expensive than an Uber if you have a group of people. So, we decided to use Uber to get around everywhere since it's such a small city. As we entered the lobby, there was a small waiting area that has some pretty cool décor from the actual set designs of the movie “Robin Hood” (2018). Currently, they have two games at this location. Other than the one we’re trying today, they also have a room called “Secret Treasures of Dubrovnik” which teaches you the culture and history of the location while you solve puzzles. Unfortunately, we only had time for one room... so in we go! The storyline is derived from the "Battle of the Blackwater" scene where our mission (much like Tyrion Lannister) is to find and use the Wildfire to save King's Landing. We can not fail our fellow citizens! As we enter the room, we felt transformed into the GOT era and became knights that have to defend the safety of our kingdom. The props used were quite authentic especially a really unique one that we’ve never seen before. The lighting and ambience along with the music made the room feel very dungeon-like. The room was quite linear so it’s great for a smaller group as you will have to solve the puzzles together in order to move on to the next. Although, the size is quite spacious, it would’ve been great to have some more “wow” moments with the usage of space. Regardless, the set design was beautifully done. We aren't used to using clues twice, but in this case you may just have to so that’s something to keep in mind. The puzzles were pretty on point in terms of incorporating what would be used in that era. The game master was great, and she was very prompt whenever we needed them. In the end, we successfully saved King’s Landing with just the two of us and minutes to spare. Your ticket will include a free photo on the Iron Throne Replica in the official "Game of Thrones" shop in the Old Town. We didn’t have time to go back but maybe you should plan to play this escape room and THEN go to Old Town as we would’ve loved to have that as a souvenir. Guess we’ll just have to go back! Make sure to ask them for the map that shows you the 8 Game of Thrones" activities in Dubrovnik which includes the filming locations. Please note that Puzzle Punks will only take cash if paying on site so make sure you have it on you. If not, there is an ATM that’s quite near (5 minutes walking distance). Photos provided by Puzzle Punks - Dubrovnik Escape Room Company: Puzzle Punks - Dubrovnik Escape Room Game: Secret Treasure of Dubrovnik Country: Croatia 🇭🇷 Language: English, Romanian, Croatian Type of Game: Remote Escape Room 🗣 Genre: Adventure Date Played: 5/31/2020 Difficulty (based on 5 players): 6.5/10 Size of Team: Up to 6 devices Time: 60 Minutes Price: €60 per game / €100 both games (Up to 6 devices) Puzzle Punks - Dubrovnik Escape Room currently offers 2 remote escape room experiences. Since we've already played their "Saving King's Landing" room (see below for a sneak peek at the room and an exclusive onsite interview), we will be playing "Secret Treasures of Dubrovnik" today. Our guide is a museum employee. He believes that there are hidden treasures buried under the museum by a secret society back in 1667. He's willing to share the treasure with us if we are able to help him find them in time... The set design went really well with the story line. We felt like we step foot in an old museum full of artifacts and antiques. They looked like they were from different eras of the Dubrovnik history. Our guide was able to tell us a little bit about each item as we searched of the room. This was quite a special experience as you wouldn't be able to have this in a physical escape room. We really enjoyed learning about the history of Dubrovnik through playing puzzles. There was an inventory list which gave us a closer look on the items that were needed. This was very helpful (In some cases, there was a delay in loading in the photos but they all came through eventually. Ultimately, this did not effect our play) and enabled us to multi-task. Although "Saving King's Landing" might be their more popular game choice due to the "Game of Thrones" inspired theme, we enjoyed this game more. Good news is, if you couldn't decide on which one to play, a discounted price is provided if you decided to do both! *** This game can no longer be booked as a remote game but can still be booked as an in-person experience *** (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) • Mouju Escaping City Parlor - "Perfect Painting"

LOCATION: Nanjing, China Photo above is property of Mouju Escaping City Parlor Photo above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Date Played: July 14, 2023 Genre: Mystery, Supernatural Difficulty (Based on 6 PPL): 6/10 Total # of Players: 3-6 PPL Length of Time: 90 Minutes Price: ¥118/PP Booking Type: Private Escaped? Yes 📖 THE STORY Your art teacher has gone missing for several days now. Determined to find the truth, you led a group of students into their workspace. Soon you begin to realize that some things are better left hidden... 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The writer behind the storyline of this game was pretty impressive. If you were able to follow through from beginning to end, you would find various ways of interpreting the information you found throughout the game. There were even two endings (if you ask the GM at the end, he'll be able to explain both to you)! There were a few cool moments where the imagery and ambiance of the room turned to match the emotional stage of the narration. The clue reveals were followed by solving various puzzles and it was clear and well connected to the storyline. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Being that Nanjing was quite hot in the summer and we had 6 people, it was very uncomfortable being in a room without any AC for most parts of the game. Some props needed to be maintained and updated. This was a dimly lit room and finding some of the information in small fonts was pretty difficult. A few of the puzzles involved images that we had to interpret the meanings in order to correctly understand the story. This was a difficult task as some images could be interpreted in more than just one way. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? "Perfect Painting" was the first escape room game that we played in Mainland, China. This game could only be played in Chinese. There were a lot of clues that were written in Chinese that the player would need to understand in order to solve the puzzles. Since Brandon doesn't understand any Chinese, his main job was searching and solving what he could based on what he could familiarize himself with. On the other hand, I had to interpret the information in English while playing the game at the same time. It definitely added to the difficulty level. This room was probably a good representation of Gen-1 rooms with a heavy narrative in Mainland, China but definitely not one of the top quality rooms in terms of set design or tech. If you're not a native, it would be difficult to find and book games in China as most of the games could only be booked through various APPs as the companies don't have their individual websites. Almost all the games are also in Chinese, so if you do want to go experience the games, you'll have to bring an interpreter. Don't choose games that are heavily involved in role-playing either. Regardless, it was an interesting experience and definitely worth checking out to get a vibe of China's views on escape rooms! • REMOTE: Mystery Mansion Regina - "DTF: Drag Task Force"

Photos provided by Mystery Mansion Regina Company: Mystery Mansion Regina Game: DTF: Drag Task Force Country: Canada 🇨🇦 Language: English Type of Game: Remote Escape Room 🗣 Genre: Fantasy Date Played: 9/25/2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 6/10 Size of Team: 3+ Players Time: 60 Minutes Price: $20.00 CAD/ pp (A portion of each ticket will be donated to the Regina non-profit organization, Lulu's Lodge) *All content of this room has been reviewed and approved by the Drag Community and is not intended to offend any parties* We've been sent by the leader of the DTF (Flo Mingo) to infiltrate the traitor Ruby Hymen's lair. She has an evil plan to steal all of DTF members' powers! We must stop Ruby and help the team to get their powers back! Just like the photos below, this was such a fun and colorful experience. Right from the beginning, the design of the puzzle had an embedded message with the story line. Brandon picked it up right away. I was too busy looking at the various colorful feather boas and outfits. Like the other remote games played at Mystery Regina (Seen and Cut Throat), this remote experience was played over zoom along with Telescape as the inventory portal. With the two of us it was quite difficult as there were a lot of reading (edit on 9/29 - the game designer has informed us this has been cut down significantly) and character play throughout the game. Since this was also a shorter experience than their 75 minute game, it'll definitely be helpful with more teammates so you can split the work load. Most of the puzzles were not difficult but the dim lighting made it hard to search and see certain parts of the room and props (it would be helpful to keep certain "tool" ON for the game). We also found one puzzle a bit confusing since it had a symbol that could be associated with another puzzle. Although Telescape's photos did help make certain clues clearer, we still think color puzzles are to be avoided in remote rooms with dim lighting (edited on 9/29 - the game designer has changed this puzzle to be interactive on telescape). Mystery Regina's creativity with their story lines are always very unique (especially the adult humor component). We haven't seen any escape room dare to tap into that territory but we especially enjoy those giggly moments. The remote avatar was a great add on to this innovative set. Without giving away too much, you're able to actually control the avatar with different commands. If you like to be interactive with your avatar and watch/listen to them do silly things, you'll definitely get a kick out of this game. And if you are lucky, the real Flo might even pop in and congratulate you on finishing your mission! *** We regret to inform this game is no longer available for booking but check out other games on their website*** (If you do decide to try this experience, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) Videos/Photos provided by District 3 Escape Rooms Company: District 3 Escape Rooms Game: Interrogation Room Country: Canada 🇨🇦 Language: English Type of Game: Remote Escape Room 🗣 Genre: Detective Date Played: 12/4/2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 6.5/10 Size of Team: 2-8 players (Suggested 4-6 players) Time: 60 Minutes Price: CAD $27/pp 🆃🅷🅴 🆂🆃🅾🆁🆈 You've been bought in for questioning as a suspect for an attempted heist at a museum. Do you actually want to stay for this interrogation or shall we try for an escape plan? 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 We played this escape room over Zoom with a live avatar and an inventory system on Telescape. We started the game with the avatar giving us an overview of the interrogation room. The set design really portrayed the theme pretty well since there's not much in the first room other than a table and some chairs. Although this is one of their older rooms, the set design was still pretty well maintained. We liked the progression of the game as more were revealed at a later stage. Telescape was great for keeping objects we found in line and really helped us to be able to visualize the clues more clearly. One thing the avatar did really well was his subtle hints at items that we would be able to see really easily in person but hard to discover on camera. You have two free hints to use that won't cost you on your final score so do take advantage of those. If you have time left definitely attempt the Easter Egg puzzle! 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 This room had a lot of unexpected "tools" that were utilized with the puzzle elements. We had fun discovering them throughout the game play. It was great that the avatar was able to set the camera down on a stand while he was solving a physical puzzle for us as it really helped us envision how it should've been done if we were playing there in person. There was a good amount of reading clues in this room but since they were in the inventory portal, one teammate could be assign to that (of course it's me) while the other continued to solve other puzzles. We did feel that the clue items we found in the inventory system could be more interactive for players rather than just jpgs. There was one clue we missed which if the items were enlarged into single clue photos, it could possibly be avoided. 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 District 3 Escape Rooms did a great job with bringing in that intensity of an interrogation room through the set design, sound effects and puzzle design. From starting off in an fairly empty room to discovering it's secrets along the way, we're able to come up with a successful escape plan. If you want to experience the "scare factor" on a full scale level, you'll have to visit them in person! (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) • REMOTE: Mystery Mansion Regina - "D'Vile's Curio Shoppe"

Photos provided by Mystery Mansion Regina Company: Mystery Mansion Regina Game: D'Vile's Curio Shoppe Country: Canada 🇨🇦 Language: English Type of Game: Remote Escape Room 🗣 Genre: Thriller Date Played: 12/22/2020 Difficulty (based on 5 players): 5/10 Size of Team: 3+ Players Time: 75 Minutes Price: $25.00 CAD/ pp 🆃🅷🅴 🆂🆃🅾🆁🆈 Estelle Jacobs is a local paranormal Youtuber. Her boyfriend went missing and she decided to go investigate on the disappearance herself. She was last seen at the D'Vile's Curio Shoppe. We were sent here today to inspect inside the shop and hopefully find some information with regards to her disappearance. 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 This game was played over Zoom with 2 live avatars and the Telescape inventory system. Right at the start of the game, you'll feel the eeriness from the intro and the set design. Most of the game will be quite dark (although the avatar does have a flashlight to shine on certain areas) so we suggest using the 360 view in Telescape to help you navigate the room. The avatar was very clever at controlling the player's field of vision in order to create certain "effects' that gave us the "goosies". We kept saying to ourselves, "wait, did you see that?" Don't blink! You might just miss something! 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 Sticking with the theme of the room and the storyline, most of the puzzles had a voodoo shop/fortune teller vibe. Since the room was quite dark, we felt that one puzzle during the later part of the game play needed some subtle hint from the game master or else it might be hard for the player to detect it themselves. Perhaps, redesigning the puzzle with black light might help in this situation. One other puzzle felt like it took too long to "reset" if the players wanted to try another answer and it was also hard for the player's to see with the camera angle (we've been informed by the owner that this puzzle has been changed and runs much smoother in game play). Overall, we enjoyed most of the puzzles and our favorite one was the one where interaction was needed amongst the whole group. 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 Mystery Mansion Regina has done several remote escape games online now ("DTF: Drag Task Force", "Seen", "The Detective's Story", and "Night Terrors") and they've improved on the quality every time. They've always try to come up with new concepts through storyline and technology. This room is actually a sequel to "Night Terrors" so we recommend you playing that room first for the continuity of the storyline. If you like to solve a good spooky mystery, you'll enjoy yourself in D'Vile's Curio Shoppe! Also, if you are a fan of this mystery, watch out for the finale coming March of this year! *** We regret to inform this game is no longer available for booking but check out other games on their website*** Disclosure: We thank Mystery Mansion Regina for comping our tickets for this game. • REMOTE: Mystery Mansion Regina - "Sleepy Man"

Photos above provided by Mystery Mansion Regina Company: Mystery Mansion Regina Game: Sleepy Man Country: Canada 🇨🇦 Language: English Type of Game: Remote Escape Room 🗣 Genre: Horror(14A) Date Played: 6/14/2021 Difficulty (based on 5 players): 5.5/10 Size of Team: 2+ Players Time: 90 Minutes Price: $25.00 CAD/ pp (Min. of 4 players required) 🆃🅷🅴 🆂🆃🅾🆁🆈 If you haven't played Night Terrors AND D'Vile's Curio Shoppe, this game might not make sense to you as it's the ending of this trilogy. Numerous attempts have been made from various people to try to rescue Alex from the Sleepy Man and they all failed miserably. This is your last chance to find your missing teammates Sam and Alex. 🆃🅷🅴 🅶🅰🅼🅴 🅿🅻🅰🆈 Our game started with what seemed to be a distressed call from our avatar over Zoom. Initially I thought it was prerecorded since the scene started from outside. It was a clever way to start the game. This game has a total of 2 avatars so that at one point it's actually better to have the Zoom on gallery mode rather than pinning it on the main camera (Update: this issue has been fixed by the creator so the transition is now automatic). You'll figure out why that is during the game. It was quite different and we haven't experienced this type of integration in Zoom before but it worked really well with the storyline. You'll still have the Telescape as your inventory system but the purpose of it for this game was more focused on the cinematics and narrative rather than using them as clues for puzzles. The set design, lighting, sound and camera usage were really well thought out. There were definitely moments that I got chills down my spine. At one point my palms were sweaty for the avatar and wanted to scream: "He's coming! Quick! Hide!" I don't want to giveaway too much but I really loved the way Mystery Mansion Regina was able to make the spiritual world come to "live" through an online production. 🆃🅷🅴 🅿🆄🆉🆉🅻🅴🆂 This was a story-driven experience rather than puzzle heavy game. You'll need to read through some information in order to understand the context behind a certain scene or what you'll need to do next. Since there is something evil lurking in the dark, you'll probably also need to learn a few spells. I was kind of glad to be playing this game online than IRL as I don't think my mind can solve puzzles while having to worry about what's behind me. One thing Mystery Mansion Regina did really well on was the way they were able to utilize the two avatars. We've played games with two avatars before but it just felt like one is holding the camera and the other is just showing us the room. Both avatars here gave us their individual stories and later actually came together to help each other solve puzzles in order to escape as a team. This made the experience felt real like we're actually survivors from a horror house. 🅲🅻🅾🆂🅸🅽🅶 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂 If you want to experience this game the right way, make sure you turn off your lights, put on your headphones and if possible, play this on a split screen. This is one of those games that you'll reminisce about even after the game has ended. Questions like "How did they do that?" and "OMG, did you see that?" kept popping out of us. If this was made into a horror movie, I would totally watch it. Afterwards, I'll probably be praying that the Sleepy Man doesn't come visit me in my dreams. Well enough introduction from me, are you ready for your nightmare to begin? *** We regret to inform this game is no longer available for booking but check out other games on their website*** Disclosure: We thank Mystery Mansion Regina for comping our tickets for this game. • Vortex Montreal (Latin Quarter) - "Tempus Evadere"

LOCATION: Montreal, Quebec, Canada Photo above is property of Vortex Montreal 📝  ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Tempus Evadere 📅 DATE PLAYED: June 14, 2022 🎬 GENRE: Magic 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 Players): 7/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-6 PPL 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: CAD $30/PP ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: YES 📖 THE STORY After being drafted into war and seeing humankind at its worst, a magician has gone home after many long years on the battlefield. Locking himself away from the world, people say that he either went mad or sold his soul to the devil. One day, he disappears and leaves a note to his friend revealing that he has hidden a clock in his house and when the time counts down, humanity will disappear and time will return to the beginning. Will you be able to get to the clock in time? Photo above is property of Vortex Montreal 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The room used the space well. It was not a large area, but it seemed bigger than it actually was when we were going through the room. A lot of the props were beautifully wood cut. Some of the props and gadgets were really creative and fun to solve. There were some nice surprises in the game and the story. There were a few times there were some “fake outs” in where we thought something was going to react a certain way but did something complete different. As per the theme, there were a lot of clocks and a lot of clock/time-themed puzzles, all of which were really cool to check out and were relative to the storyline. There were some great tech and non-tech puzzles alike. There were a few that we weren't sure if they were even tech puzzles or simply some creative ways to get things to work without any electronics. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK The hints were offered on a television screen near the entrance of the game. When we were in the final room, it did take some effort if we wanted a hint to go back (some crawling was involved) to the beginning to push the hint button, read the screen and then head back to the final room. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? We found this escape room location very close to where we were staying, just off the trendy Latin Quarter. There were some wood cut props in the room that made for a fun experience. We were also impressed with some of the puzzles because we thought they were tech puzzles but afterwards, it seemed to be just simple gears and non-electric mechanisms in the background. We played with 2 experienced players but there were some tricky puzzles in there. One tip we would offer is to make sure to examine things closely and check all the details. A fun escape room to play if you are in the area which is also very close to some bars and restaurants. ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Game can be played in French or English You will need to crawl through a space and there are stairs in the game Lobby with seating area Paid Street Parking, recommend using public transportation to get here Strobe lights will be triggered at one point, but it can be turned off (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) #MatthewLui #IRLescaperoom #EscapeRooms #Magic #VortexEscapeRooms #Canada #Quebec

  • A/MAZE (Old Port) - "Tesla's Enigmas"

LOCATION: Montreal, Quebec, Canada Photo above is property of A/MAZE Photos above are property of A/Maze 📝  ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: Tesla's Enigmas 📅 DATE PLAYED: June 18, 2022 🎬 GENRE: Science 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 2 Players): 6/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-6 PPL 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: CAD $30-40/PP (pending on group size) ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: YES 📖 THE STORY Nikola Tesla, the great inventor and engineer, created many wonders in his lifetime including the radio, X-rays and A/C current to name a few. Knowing that some of the people he worked with could not be trusted with his machines, Tesla hid them away in Montreal in a secret study. Using puzzles, enigmas, and riddles, he concealed his most prized discoveries so that one day, only people with the greatest of minds would be able to see them. Years have passed and with his study forgotten, a restaurant was built below. You and your friends have now been contacted by the restaurant to investigate the study as the electricity in the building is acting up and some strange noises are coming from upstairs. 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The set had a nice Victorian feel to it with the wallpaper and décor of the room such as the table and lamps. The room also had a steampunk feel to it. We had a view of the restaurant below and could see a large tesla coil that reacted to the room. The props and puzzles were fun to play with and had high quality look and feel to it. They worked well into the décor of the room. The puzzles were mostly tech-based and had some clever discoveries to be found. There was one puzzle that stuck out, as it revealed itself with a lot of effects and one other puzzle that was simple but very creative. The story and the puzzles flowed together as it did seem like a laboratory/workshop of an inventor and we got to play with so many of his gadgets to progress. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK There were a few puzzles that did not react when we solved them. We would then have to contact the GM and he had to trigger the puzzle manually on his end. We found one puzzle could have had better instructions or labelled better. We also had trouble with it because a prop for a different puzzle could also fit into the slots for this one. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? "Tesla’s Enigmas" was located within a small restaurant/bar in Old Port named “Inventions”, which also has a Nikola Tesla theme to it. The room's set design very much immersed you into a Victorian study with some steampunk aspects to it. The puzzles and props we got to interact with felt realistic and made for a fun experience throughout the story. If you are looking for an evening with friends or your partner to have some drinks and play a casual escape room, this would be a fun option. ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Located within the restaurant - “Inventions” for food and drink You will need to climb stairs in the game Photos above are property of A/MAZE (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) #MatthewLui #IRLescaperoom #EscapeRooms #Science #Steampunk #Mystery #Tesla #AMAZE #Montreal #Canada

LOCATION: Montreal, Quebec, Canada Photo above is property of Find the Key Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝  ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: The Unknown 📅 DATE PLAYED: March 11, 2023 🎬 GENRE: Horror, Survival 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 3 Players): 6/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-4 PPL 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 45 Mins. 💰 PRICE: CAD $28/PP ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: YES 📖 THE STORY The experience that awaits you is beyond just an ordinary escape room. As you enter, you realize that you have been thrust into a game that you never willingly chose to play. What's more, the game is realistic, blurring the line between reality and fiction. Your mission is to leave alive, but the stakes are high, and the choices you make will have lasting consequences. This is not just a game anymore... It's up to you to decide how the story will unfold. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE During the game, our team encountered a difficult and unsettling choice that had to be made. It would come to have a profound impact on the story of the game. It was a moment that challenged our moral compass and made us question what we were willing to sacrifice to escape. To begin, the game masters led us to the room in character, which instantly set the tone for the time to come. Their commitment to the experience was impressive and helped to immerse us into the game world. Once inside, the attention to detail was apparent, with the set design and props creating a truly eerie atmosphere. From the flickering lights to the unsettling sounds, the horror of anticipation was felt by all 🧩 MISSED THE MARK As we progressed through the game, the storyline became more complicated and difficult to follow. The game tried to introduce plot twists to enhance the experience, but with the intense and terrifying atmosphere, our team found it hard to keep up with the twists and turns. It's worth noting that there are some narrow crawl spaces in the game that could pose a challenge for larger players. However, the game provides workarounds for these situations and only one team member needs to navigate these areas. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? "The Unknown" excels in creating a gripping atmosphere and maintaining its flow throughout the game. There are plenty of jumpscares, psychological dilemmas, and moral debates to be had while playing this room. The puzzles are mostly well-designed, although there were a few instances that left us stumped. The split start room is a great feature, with one of the most inventive communication methods we've seen in a game. The story can become convoluted at times, but the unique set design, puzzles, and hidden spaces make up for it. Overall, "The Unknown" is a great choice for horror enthusiasts looking for a thrilling experience. ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Street parking (metered) Must be able to ascend and descend stairs For the best experience, players should be able to have full physical movements with their body (crawling, squatting, etc.) This game can be played in English & French Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) • Vortex Montreal (Plateau) - "The Dragon's Prophecy"

LOCATION: Montreal, Quebec, Canada Photo above is property of Vortex Montreal Photos above are property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 📝  ETR DECODER 🔑 GAME: The Dragon's Prophecy 📅 DATE PLAYED: March 11, 2023 🎬 GENRE: Fantasy 🧠 DIFFICULTY (Based on 5 Players): 5/10 👥 TOTAL # OF PLAYERS: 2-6 PPL 🕒 LENGTH OF TIME: 60 Mins. 💰 PRICE: CAD $33/PP ☎️ BOOKING TYPE: Private 🔓 ESCAPED/ COMPLETED?: YES 📖 THE STORY Two years ago, Vortex journeyed to the fantastical kingdom of Anka, where dragons still roam the land. During their adventure, they became friends with the enchantress Oriana, daughter of King Clodion. Thanks to her magical abilities, she has been able to keep in touch ever since. Recently, Oriana reached out to Vortex through a portal to ask for our help. The King has become pale and despotic over the past couple of months. He has ordered the execution of many innocent people and is waging a merciless war. Although Vortex typically avoids getting involved in local politics, they suspect that something more sinister is at play. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The immersive set design of the basement is exceptional, given its dark and grimy atmosphere, it transports players to another world. The highlight of the game is a remarkable diorama in the initial room that not only adds depth to the storyline but also serves as an interactive puzzle that needs to be solved during the course of the game. The puzzle flow in the game was very enjoyable. It was a nice mix of physical and mental challenges that kept us engaged and entertained throughout the game. One of the things we appreciated was how well all of the puzzles and locks fit with the immersion of the game. It really helped us feel like we were part of the story and added to the overall experience. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK The absence of a dragon in a game with such a theme was a slight letdown for our team, but it did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the game. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? One of the unique aspects of playing this game was that the game master spent an additional 15 minutes before the start of the game to explain the story and the world of the game. While this is not necessary for the gameplay, it was a valuable experience that helped create a bond between our team and the game master. It's not something you see often in other escape rooms and added to the overall enjoyment of the experience. The hint system in this game was a unique feature that added to the immersive experience. When a team needed a clue, they could summon a goblin guard who had helped them get to the basement. The guard would appear periodically to assist as needed, but the team had to be careful not to reveal their true intentions. Overall, it was a clever and fitting way to incorporate hints into the story world. "The Dragon's Prophecy" is an exceptional game that offers a seamless puzzle-solving experience with breathtaking scenery. Each section of the game is enjoyable and caters to different play styles, ensuring that everyone in your team will have a great time. If you're looking for a fantastic escape to a fantasy world, take a step into the Kingdom of Anka and give it a shot! ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO Paid Street parking Located on second floor Offered in French & English This game can be played in English & French Photo above is property of Vortex Montreal (If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!)
