  • Real Escape Game by SCRAP - "Escape from the Lockdown: The Demon Forest"

Videos/ Photos provided by Real Escape Game by SCRAP Company: Real Escape Game by SCRAP Game: Escape from the Lockdown: The Demon Fortress Country: Japan ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต Language: English, Japanese Type of Game: Digital Escape Game ๐Ÿ’ป Genre: Hero, Adventure Date Played: 3/5/2021 Difficulty (based on 4 players): 6/10 Size of Team: Unlimited. (Recommended 4 Players) Time: Unlimited (Approx. 2-3 Hours) Price: ยฅโ€Ž 2,800/ pp (~$27/ pp) ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ†‚๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†ˆ Nine heroes have been captured by the Demon King. They are currently being locked up in the Demon Fortress. It's up to you to connect with them through your "communication crystal", solve all the puzzles and figure out a plan to save them! ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ถ๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ…ผ๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ฟ๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ†ˆ If you've played their first game "The Strange Village" before, then you'll have an easier time with this game as it uses the same online platform. The game starts with an intro video from the mayor of the town. If you remember the "crystal ball" from the first game, it's making its appearance again in this game with the same function: communication. We played this game over Zoom with our team and each of the players logged into the system with their own game code. The game is not synced so it's important to keep your team updated on solutions so you can move forward together. There's a lot of narrative components to this game so we strongly recommend headphones. The narrative is in Japanese with subtitles. At times we found that we had to rewind quite a bit because we were unable to follow so quickly (especially for a part at the end). I hope you're a quick note taker! Our goal was to defeat the "Big 4" first before facing the Demon King. Each hero has special powers that they're able to use on these missions. We love the prerecorded videos of the dramatic reenactments from the characters. ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ฟ๐Ÿ†„๐Ÿ†‰๐Ÿ†‰๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…ด๐Ÿ†‚ Each "level" of fighting with the "Big 4" had mini puzzles that we had to surpass. It actually worked really well for a team of 4 as we each tackled one and quickly went over the puzzle after solving them. We would then join forces to defeat the demon on a "video game" command type of puzzle. This would go on for 4 rounds until we were faced with the final beast. Most of the puzzles were based on word play. I wish there were a few variations in terms of puzzle types. Although one puzzle really surprised us on its reusability. We really enjoyed that one. The final puzzle was also one of our favorites as it gave us that "I totally did not expect that" feeling. ๐Ÿ…ฒ๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ†‚๐Ÿ…ธ๐Ÿ…ฝ๐Ÿ…ถ ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ†„๐Ÿ…ถ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ†‚ This was a heavily narrative based game with light puzzle elements. I am a big fan of anime so the graphics and the actors' voices drew me into a fantasy world right from the beginning. The script was very clever and our favorite part was always the plot twist. You never know what was going to happen and it's usually totally unexpected. I look forward to another "Escape From The Lockdown" series from SCRAP but this time with more puzzles and some variations would be great. I wouldn't change a thing on their narratives though. I haven't seen anything like it out there that's similar to their production value yet. RJ G. A unique and engaging story line Overall production value was very high Videos were entertaining Use of D&D style strategic puzzles worked well Harder puzzles encouraged lateral thinking Cons The game is a bit longer than most which may tire out some non dedicated solvers Some of the early puzzles were trivial This online adventure style of this game was very refreshing. You can tell just how much effort the creators poured into this experience. The game itself is nicely divided up into segments each kicked off by a video to introduce the next narrative chapter. Since the game is as long as a movie would be, you have the opportunity to follow the cast of characters along this puzzle filled journey to it's wild conclusion. Where most other online escape room games devote their time to their puzzles, SCRAP instead carefully constructs full experiences that truly entertain for the duration. The puzzles start off quite easy but eventually become much more involved and challenging as the game progresses. The turn based combat puzzles are well conceived and allow the solvers to take on the roles of the characters in the narrative. The illustrations and images for the puzzles are well polished and fit seamlessly into the adventure as well. Some of the puzzles also require some outside-the-box thinking that really encourage the solvers to pay close attention to the dialog and events of the story. Overall this game is exceptional. It's unique presentation and theater are surely memorable. I would highly recommend this game to anyone. ______________________________________________________________ Jacqueline G. This game was unlike any I've experienced before. It was engaging and fun and at times felt like watching a play. I really enjoyed the fact that there were multiple puzzles to solve at the same time so everyone had a chance to feel like an essential member of the team. I think the progression of the story flowed really well. The things I liked the most were the beginning puzzles, while not overly challenging it was a great group exercise. I also enjoyed the fight puzzles because they were decently challenging but also well constructed; knowing which answer was incorrect was very helpful. The only things I can say negatively are more preference based. I have a hard time reading the conversation while taking notes so that very minimally affected my experience. The game was also super long which may be a deterrent to some. Just as you think "YES! We did it!" you get another prompt which I did not mind but some people may need to take breaks in between videos. As someone who has participated in more than my fair share of escape rooms (both online and in person) I feel that this company really set themselves apart from the rest. I would say this is one escape room that I will not easily forget. I highly recommend this experience! • Society of Curiosities - "The Bewitched Circus"

Photo above is property of Society of Curiosities Company: Society of Curiosities Game: The Bewitched Circus Country: Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Language: English Type of Game: Digital Escape Game ๐Ÿ’ป Genre: Adventure, Mystery Date Played: November 2, 2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 5/10 Size of Team: Unlimited (Suggested 1-4 players) Time: Unlimited (Approx. 30-90min) Price: $12.00 ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ†‚๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†ˆ The town of Lone Tree is renowned for its witch history. Strange occurrences has been happening lately and we've been dispatched by the Magical Mysteries Division to further investigate on this matter... ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ถ๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ…ผ๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ฟ๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ†ˆ Similar to their other game "Mysterious Map Heist", this game is also fully digital. You'll need a US/Canada number if you wish to communicate with the field team via text message. Alternatively, you can also communicate with them on their website with a text messenger window that's already build-in to the game. All international players will probably have to play through this platform. Whichever way you chose, you'll get the same information. Our journey began with sending a "secret word". A connection was made with the field agent once that's established. Based on our commands, we're able to communicate with characters, open locks through solving puzzles and travel from one place to another. At one point, it really reminded us of the movie "The Greatest Showman". Throughout the game, you'll encounter images, various websites and audio files that really connected a fantasy world with the real world. One thing we really liked in terms of the game design is that whenever you opened up an image, it gets stored in the same link so that if you forgot about the information from the previous chat, you can easily scroll down to look at it again. The puzzles were asked in forms of questions by the field agent and you're able to communicate answers to them via text. There are multiple ways to get the right solution to him. It's great that this automated system is not so specific when it comes to accepting solutions as we've played games before where we missed the word "the" in front of a right answer and the automated system would not give it to us. If you get stuck, there's a very detailed step by step hint system on their website. Photo above is property of Society of Curiosities ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ฟ๐Ÿ†„๐Ÿ†‰๐Ÿ†‰๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…ด๐Ÿ†‚ I love the details and relevance of the images used in this game. The towns newspaper, circus tickets, various circus acts, etc were all utilized in their own ways to draw us into the story line. Each piece of information was important and gave a subtle hint either to the current puzzle or a future mystery. The puzzles were not too difficult for experienced players but they were cleverly designed to have you images to the world in the story. You'll also need to remember each item you've collected, what you have used or haven't used and what could be used in the current situation. In certain ways we felt the escape room vibe through this type of puzzle design. We also enjoyed the humor that was added in one of the puzzles and it definitely got us stuck for a good 5 minutes. That was a well deserved "duh" moment... Photo above is property of Society of Curiosities ๐Ÿ…ฒ๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ†‚๐Ÿ…ธ๐Ÿ…ฝ๐Ÿ…ถ ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ†„๐Ÿ…ถ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ†‚ One thing that has always been consistent with Society of Curiosities' products is the research they've done on all the relevant information that pertains to the story line of their games. Whether it's 15th century pirates searching for treasure or looking for the whereabouts of 16th century secret society, you'll guaranteed to experience that era (and learn something at the same time). They are great at making the players feel so immersed that they will get confused on whether the information provided in the game was real or not. They've done it here again...If you've played all of their games already and are fans of their design style, definitely check out their Kickstarter: Fairy Tale Files while you wait for Adventure 3: The Memory Stone! • Try2Escape - "A Pirates Life"

Photos provided by Try2Escape Company: Try2Escape Game: A Pirates Life Country: United Kingdom ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Language: English Type of Game: Digital Escape Game ๐Ÿ’ป Genre: Pirate, Adventure Date Played: 10/22/2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 4.5/10 Size of Team: Unlimited Time: Unlimited Price: ยฃ20.00 (ยฃย 15.00 - If you purchase before 11/1/2020) As we put on our pirate's hats and eye patches, prepared our "Caribbean Cosmo" and said "Arrr" to our parrots, we were ready to sail into the high seas to search for Blackbeard's Treasure. Ok....we didn't actually had time to do all of that prep work but if you wanted to play in character, you'll receive a printable PDF attachment after you purchase the game with all the items mentioned. This digital game was quite rare amongst hundreds of digital games we've played as it's fully interactive. We've played many games where if we had a puzzle that we had to be pieced together, we'll need to print the items out. In this game, you'll be able to move jigsaw pieces around and once you assemble the right picture, you'll be allowed to go to the next puzzle. It's quite similar to a point-n-click game in some cases. You'll encounter various types of puzzles from trivia to crosswords to ciphers. Most puzzles will probably not be consider difficult for experienced players. We do love the colorful graphics as this could easily be a game that's fun for kids. If you get stuck, there are hints available throughout the game. Although there are no limits to the amount of players, certain puzzles were really meant for one player. As Brandon was maneuvering the puzzle pieces, I wasn't really able to contribute much and had to wait till he finish the puzzle. Although when it came to decoding ciphers, team work definitely saved a good amount of time. It would've been great if the game could be placed in a portal where multiple players could sign in through one portal so they could work on the interactive puzzles together. If you are a pirate fan, you'll actually learn some history and knowledge on piracy from the game. Should you join this quest for Blackbeard's Treasure? I'll say "Aye!" • Struck Down Entertainment - "The Mad Bomber"

Photos provided by Struck Down Entertainment Company: Struck Down Entertainment Country: USA ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Language: English Type of Game: Digital Escape Game ๐Ÿ’ป Genre: Detective Date Played: 10/5/2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 4/10 Size of Team: Unlimited Time: Unlimited Price: $9.99 The Mad Bomber is planning something evil again. He's planted 12 bombs in different areas in the city and the only way we can dismantle them is by solving his ridiculously, hilarious riddles filled with puns. Will we save our city time? The clock is ticking... This game is designed entirely over videos. It's the first online game we've played in this format. There are essentially 12 videos and each video contains a puzzle. Once you got the answer, you'll type it below the video to proceed onto the next video. If you get stuck, there's an online hint system. If you want to play this in a competitive mode, try to solve it before the timer runs out on the video. Good thing we have a super power called "Pause" and that allowed us to not have to rewind too many times (I know, I know, we semi cheated...). It would be quite challenging on some of the puzzles to finish before the timer runs out unless you are super quick at visualization puzzles and memory. Since the videos were so entertaining, we usually just let it run to the end even if we got the answer just to see what other amusing puns were waiting for us. The puzzles were quite easy and with the aid from those silly puns, it's a great game to play as a group and even with kids. One last thing, watch out for those "Butts"! *** We regret to inform this company has closed its doors *** Disclosure: We thank Struck Down Entertainment for providing us with a sample of the game. • Boxaroo - "Colby's Curious Cookoff"

Photos provided by Boxaroo Company: Boxaroo Country: USA ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Language: English Type of Game: Online Puzzle Games ๐Ÿ’ป Genre: Fun Date Played: 8/25/2020 Difficulty (based on 4 players): 7.5/10 Size of Team: Unlimited Time: Unlimited Price: Pay-What-You-Can ($25 recommended) We became huge fans of Boxaroo's escape rooms when we last visited them on our MA escape room tour. Their "Story Teller's Secret" easily took a spot on our Top Rated Rooms 2020 list. We were very excited when we heard about an online game that they were working on. They came out with a few teaser puzzles at first and we were immediately addicted to the format. "Colby's Curious Cookoff" was a story about a boy named Colby who was looking to win a tri-state cookoff. But before he could attend the competition, he needed to complete a 4-page application to see if he was qualified. We played this game with our good friends Bluefish Games over video conferencing. This was a great way to play the game since there were definitely moments when each teammate had obvious strength at various puzzles (audio, math, crossword, deduction, ciphers, decoding, choice your own adventure, etc...). There were times when we also had to use Google so it definitely saved us time by dividing the workload. The puzzles varied in difficulty level (1-3 red peppers were indicators) and were mixed throughout the game. The game was divided into 4 segments (you could log in and out of the game anytime you want as it'll automatically save your progress). Each segment had various puzzles with a meta puzzle at the end. The game was full of surprises. Just as we thought we were done, there was yet another meta puzzle after what we thought was the finale. The storyline was very cute and used a lot of funny puns. Some jokes that were embedded in the answers really gave us that "ah...har har...." moment. We also love the cute graphics. The interface was great and easy to use as we didn't need to print anything out and were able to draw, input, drag, and at one moment even played a little "video game". The only thing we're unsure about was how the hint system would work since we didn't use any. There was a light bulb at the end of each puzzle where if you got stuck, you could email for help. I could see some players might get frustrated if the responses were not immediate. Also, there were a few puzzles I'm not sure how they would be able to write a hint for unless the players could bypass the puzzle. Regardless, this was definitely a really fun game to gather a team to tackle. If you do complete the game, you'll join us on the leaderboard with a full 35 points! You'll definitely need to earn your spot though. Some puzzles really made us work for it but the ending was definitely satisfying. We are already itching for their next project and hopefully, it'll come out soon! The game started with an entertaining video message from Professor Julius Invicta. The professor thinks that Doctor Aiden Medway and his evil Deleter Robots are set out to delete events from the past so the world can run purely on technology. Our mission is to help the professor to secure these historical moments before they get deleted forever! The puzzles were embedded in various historical events or places. It was fun to learn about the history behind some of these railways, castles, etc...We really liked the creativity behind the relevance of the answers to the puzzles as they lead to the beginning of the next story. One thing we wish that could've been better was the interface. Whenever we had to enter an answer, a new window would have to open, leaving us with many tabs at the end of the game. It also was causing a bit of delay in loading the game. Other than these minor issues, we really enjoyed a game that was not only able to entertain us with the puzzles but also was able to provide us with additional knowledge that we were unaware of prior to the game. Thanks Nick for providing a FREE game during this difficult period for everyone. *** We regret to inform this game is no longer available*** #ESCAPETHEROOMers #AtHomeGames #EscapeRooms #KentEscapeRoomReviews #Invicta #DigitalEscapeGame #OnlinePuzzleGames #Detective #Sci-Fi #Action #SaveTheWorld

  • WayOut Oy - "S4MP0 - Part 1: Uprising"

Videos & Photos provided by WayOut Oy Company: WayOut Oy Game: S4MP0 - Part 1: Uprising Country: Finland ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎ Language: English Type of Game: Digital Escape Game ๐Ÿ’ป Genre: Adventure Date Played: 8/11/2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 6.5/10 Size of Team: 1-5 Players Time: Unlimited Price: โ‚ฌ15 Wayout Oy created more than just an online game. S4MPO was more like a cinematic movie. It reminded us a lot about the movie "Mad Max: Fury Road". The world was pretty much a wasteland. It was destroyed by natural disasters and wars. A cruel privileged party called Ylinen ruled The North with a powerful operating system called S4MPO. We (Takojat) had joined forces with the resistance (Vรคki) and our mission today was to help them take down S4MPO. This was how our adventure began... S4MP0 could be played alone or with friends. We played on one device but you could easily play together over Zoom or on a big TV with a shared screen with a large group of people. Audio definitely added immersion to this game so make sure you have good headphones or speakers. It'll also help with the clarity when it comes to the audio puzzle. Although we didn't use Google much, the game does allow you to search for information that you are not familiar with. We do foresee novice puzzlers not be familiar to some of the ciphers in the game. As we entered our code to start the game, the world disappeared around us. We were drawn into the virtual world right away. From sleuthing our way through the guards to successfully infiltrating into S4MPO's control center, all the actions made us feel like James Bond. The entire game's conversation elements were mostly through a computer response portal. The puzzles were mainly on separate links that we had to open up. Aino and Agent Seppรค were part of the crew that was helping us with the take down. Adding in characters in the game made us feel closer to the actual situations. We enjoyed the little video break every time we solved a puzzle. It served as a story teller and informant for our next mission. The puzzles were not too difficult but we enjoyed the variations and loved seeing the familiar ciphers we normally would encounter in other games. The selling point for us with this game that differed from other digital games was the way they were able to use the beautiful illustration videos to tell a story. It was quite emotional to watch from beginning to end given the situation we are in right now. If we don't protect the world we love, one day it could become this wasteland. Will we lose our freedom and subdue to a higher power or will we have the will to fight back? It was quite symbolic to the Coronavirus fight we are currently in. With the industry struggling to survive this pandemic, we were privileged to experience some of these talented puzzle/game creations so definitely support them by trying out this game! S4MPO part 1: Uprising definitely left a very intriguing cliffhanger at the end. We can't wait to see how they will develop this story in Part 2! *** We regret to inform this game is no longer available for purchasing but check out other in-person escape rooms on their website*** Disclosure: We thank WayOut Oy for providing us with a sample of the game. Our mission was to help our friend Winglebert, who's stuck in the British Museum, to find a bomb that's been hidden inside the museum. "Help Winglebert Save the City" is a digital game designed by using the Facebook messenger platform. Once you start the game, you'll be given options of either to read the story or to listen to the story. You'll be using the British museum's virtual tour website as a resource for the game as well. It's a fun website to explore just on its own. You'll able to learn about various artifacts from all over the world through the years AD 2000 all the way to 2 Million BC! The puzzles will be presented to you via photos, audios or video clips. There were quite a few objectives that you must answer correctly before you can proceed onto the next part of the journey. Some answers were quite specific, so for the intermediate game (they also have a beginner version of this game which is easier since the answers were given as multiple choices) we had to play around with how to answer certain questions in order to get the one they would accept. If you got stuck, there will be a self guided hint system that you could use. Since we are avid travelers and love to learn about the history of the places we visit, this was a lovely alternative for us to enjoy "traveling" from the comfort of our home. • William O'Connell - "Subtext"

Video/ Photos have been provided by William O'Connell Company: William O'Connell Game: Subtext Country: USA ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Language: English Type of Game: Alternate Reality Game (ARG) ๐Ÿ’ป Date Played: 8/3/2020 Difficulty (based on 1 player): 2/10 Size of Team: Unlimited Time: Unlimited Price: $6.99 "Subtext" was an interesting ARG that we haven't experienced before. Most of the game will be played on text message (if you don't want to use your number, you can use VoIP service like Google Voice to receive SMS) but you'll also need internet and email to interact with the characters in the game. The game started with us getting a text from an unknown number. It was great that you are able to check on their website which numbers are part of the game. With so many scams these days, I could've easily blocked the number with a message coming in as "Hello? Are you there?". It was quite ironic since the person who contacted us wanted us to proof our identity to him instead. In this context, the game was quite relatable to the real world. Since the game wanted you to feel like this was a real life experience , there'll be moments of "pauses" used during the game where the character would be going to sleep or taking a "break". This is why the game may take over a few days to finish. You can also play at your own pace by pausing the game anytime by typing "pause" to the number. This was not a puzzle type of game. So if you are looking for ciphers or codes then this is not the game for you. The concept was closer to a detective story where you would have to dig out information from details that would be provided to you. If you like twists in a story line, this game definitely have something waiting for you at the end. For us, we didn't feel quite immersed as some of the other games we've played. We thought the game could use some more visuals or video components. It would be great if there could be some choice elements for the players as well since there were moments in the game that we saw some opportunities. The highlight for us with this game was the creativity post game completion. There are some "goosebump" moments that we are still uncovering today... When you purchase the game, a link will be sent to you via email and you'll have 7 days to login to play the game. The portal will also provide you with a PDF file (which you can chose to print or not print) that you'll need to figure out the puzzles. A final beauty to combine the first two components is the audio stories. Each chapter will start with an amusing audio story from a character. This got us immersed right away. As some accents from characters were quite hard to understand, it was great that a written version of the narrative was provided as well. Our mission was to travel to Pluto to find out what had happened to the missing team of Research Base Persephone. There were 4 characters in the story and each had their "headquarters" along with puzzles unique to their story line. We really enjoyed the various types of challenging puzzles. It was nice see that there was a good balance of easy and difficult puzzles. If you do get stuck, the self guided hints were pretty easy to follow. There was a few riddle solutions we didn't understand but was able to figure out the password by visualizing the whole word. Our favorite part was the ending meta puzzle. It was a clever multi-step puzzle that we took some time searching through the game. It was helpful to play it together over Zoom since we were able to cover more areas. This game gave us the feeling that was similar to a GM led audio escape room. Since the creators have a background as podcasters, it was no surprise that they were able to make the characters feel alive. The artwork was also great at portraying the character's emotions and the scenes. We felt like we were being "guided" throughout the game by their narrations. Lastly, let us give you a useful tip: be very careful of what you chose at the end... (If you do decide to try this game, please remember to let them know that you heard it from"ESCAPETHEROOMers"!) Photos have been provided by Keyhole Escapes Company: Keyhole Escapes Country: United Kingdom ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Language: English Type of Game: Digital Escape Game ๐Ÿ’ป Date Played: 7/28/20 Size of Team: Unlimited Price: ยฃ8.00 Game:. Lighthouse Rescue Genre: Adventure Difficulty (based on 2 players): 6.5/10 Time: Unlimited Theย light on an infamous lighthouse has gone out. We have been sent here to solve this mystery and hopefully switch the light on before the ships run into danger. This browser based game had many entertaining puzzles. Once you solve a puzzle, the answer would be the code for you to enter the next area. There's no printing needed but pen and paper would definitely come in handy. One thing we realized that was helpful during our play was to keep the previous tabs open as you may need to refer back for clues. If you press the back button, you'll have to enter the password for the next pages again in order to progress to where you were previously. You'll have a good amount of tabs open but we found that to be easier than having to type the passwords over and over again. The puzzles were designed to be relevant to the story line. We found them to be medium in difficulty level. One thing that could use some improvement is the hint system. We had to use it for two of the puzzles but couldn't understand how the answer was achieved. It would be great if there's an added explanation. This game had no time limit, so take as much time as you need as there'll be some searching involved! Game: Camping Crisis Genre: Adventure Difficulty (based on 2 players): 6/10 Time: Unlimited We arrived at our holiday destination but there's an issue that we have to solve before we can fully enjoy ourselves. The game design was the same as the previous game so feel free to read above for details. The only thing we did differently for this game was that we played it over Zoom. We both used the same access code and entered the game at the same time. It was a lot easier and more enjoyable to play the game this way. We were able to search in different areas and combine our resources for the puzzles. One of the puzzles felt like some outside knowledge would be needed. We did have to use Google to eventually figure out the answer. There were a good mixture of math, logic and cipher type puzzles. We didn't need as much cluing for this game as the previous but it would still be great if the answers were explained clearer. Between the two games, we liked this one better. It could also be because the game flow was better now since this was our second game and the Zoom definitely helped with the communication. For fans that have played both games already, check out their newest game: "Zombie Experiment Gone Wrong!" • Deadlocked Escape Room - "The Insiders"

Photos provided by Deadlocked Escape Rooms Company: Deadlocked Escape Rooms Game: The Insiders Country: United Kingdom ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Language: English Type of Game: DIY Escape Kits ๐Ÿ–จ๏ธโœ‚ Genre: Detective, Mystery Date Played: May 22, 2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 7.5/10 Size of Team: Unlimited Time: Unlimited Price: ยฃ9.99 "Insiders" was by far one of our favorite digital escape game that we've played so far (we've done about 50 now). This game incorporated pretty much everything we've seen in terms of types of puzzles. They ranged from scouring online for clues, point and click adventures, print and cut and of course the basic logic puzzles incorporated in files. We haven't seen a company put so much effort into a game and make the cost so affordable for the players. You could tell that they are true puzzle lovers. There were a total of three chapters and every chapter gave us close to a full 90 minute play. This was not a simple game and at times you'll get frustrated but the end result always felt bittersweet. The story line was very important for us as every chapter had a great cliffhanger that made us beg the creators to sent us the next chapter prior to when we were suppose to obtaining it. My favorite moment was when I discovered that the components we used to solve puzzles were parts that we could use to construct a cute robot at the end. Since I didn't realize this during game play (as we were timing our selves and rushing to complete the game), I had to go back and reprint and cut out the pieces again. So my advise for you is definitely make the puzzle pieces perfect the first time. But I didn't mind it at all. I had to make my Xellda flawless! • Deadlocked Escape Room - "The Cyphstress"

Photos provided by Deadlocked Escape Rooms Company: Deadlocked Escape Rooms Game: The Cyphstress Country: United Kingdom ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Language: English Type of Game: Digital Escape Game ๐Ÿ’ป Genre: Detective, Mystery Date Played: July 26, 2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 6.5/10 Size of Team: Unlimited Time: Unlimited Price: ยฃ10.00 "I know a place where the waves grow tall..." With the voice of a beautiful mermaid (at least that's how we imaged it) singing a memorizing yet puzzling song, this was how "The Cyphstress" started... Since both of the game creators have acting backgrounds, it's no wonder this game felt like a high quality movie production. From sound elements to graphics to character interactions, we were amazed by how much was put into a single game. Once you purchase the game, you'll get a code which would allow you to login to a website. From there you'll experience a series of puzzles (one of the teammates would need a FB account) until you find your way to a beautiful island. It was definitely nice to escape the real world for a bit and enjoy this virtual vacation. The puzzles were innovative and the sound effects was a huge factor for creating that immersive atmosphere. There were many "gadgets" that "wowed" us during the game. The two highlights for us were the use of the drone for the overview of the island and the periscope for the ocean. The game had two parts and the first part finished with a nice meta puzzle that interwove all the previous components together. It was great for the creators to thought of a way for the game to be "recorded" with pieces that you could refer back to even after we closed out of the game. This way we were able to go back to part two with no issues a few days later. Part two was a collaborative type of interactive play. We saw a similar concept in "The Insider" before but this one was the favorite out of the two. We were able to login to the same portal and play the game over Zoom. The puzzles really tested the way we worked as team. Precision was the key for solving this part. It was a lot of fun blaming each other when something didn't work. We thought this was an easier puzzle than the one in "The Insider" and the reward was also more desirable. Who doesn't want learn how to brew the secret recipe of the Siren? As we came to the end of helping adventurer "T" to find the lost recipe and the mythological Siren, we longed for a part three. Although we didn't get that wish, a nice performance by our two favorite actors to conclude the story was sufficient. Throughout the game you'll be able to be entertained by their humorous interplay. Oh, there's one final thing I must warn you guys. The song is very addicting. Brandon, who's semi tone-deaf , has been singing it till this day. He's a great rapper but he's definitely not putting me to sleep with that voice. If you are looking for several hours of fun that's less than paying a ticket for a movie, you'll have to give this game a try. If you are lucky to be in the zone where they deliver the Siren beer, a reward will be awarded at the end of the game. I'm sure replaying the game with the a bottle of Siren will shed some new light to the puzzles and the story! • Deadlocked Escape Room - "The Movember Virtual Moscape Room"

Photo above is property of Deadlocked Escape Rooms Company: Deadlocked Escape Rooms Game: The Movember Virtual Moscape Room Country: United Kingdom ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Language: English Type of Game: Digital Escape Game ๐Ÿ’ป Genre: Adventure, Comedy Date Played: October 2, 2020 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 5.5/10 Size of Team: Unlimited Time: 90 Minutes (Approx.) Price: ยฃ15.00 (1/3 of the proceeds goes to Movember) This is the third digital game we've played by Deadlocked Escape Rooms. "The Insiders" and "The Cyphstress" have been on our top digital games list for awhile so we're always excited for new games created by them. Their games are always well worth the cost in terms of play time and quality. Most of the time, their games are more geared towards experienced players but this new game would be a great place to start if you are just a beginner puzzler (Although we have an insider's secret for you. If you are a veteran puzzler and want a harder/extended version of this game, add "EX" at the end of your game code). This game was designed in collaboration with the charity organization Movember. Movember's mission focuses on menโ€™s health on a global scale on issues like mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. Throughout the game you'll meet characters from their previous games like T, Wexell Corporation, etc...The story line is based on T being stuck at work but desperately needs his shaver to get ready for Movember. We were sent by him to help his colleague Joey on this important mission. One thing we love about Deadlocked Escape Room's games is that they are able to take you out of the virtual world with their narratives and visual story telling components that makes you feel like you are in the real world with the character. If you want to know how real those videos are, the creator actually got injured during filming while doing one of those stunts! We love the energy through out the game. Joey, T and Rohin were hilarious characters and I think I spent more time watching the "choice your own adventure" videos rather than playing the puzzles. We tried the extended version of the game and finished in 2 hours (experienced puzzlers can probably finish in shorter amount of time but this is not a game you'll want to rush through). On your adventure, the only things you'll need is Facebook, pen& paper and internet. There will be no need to print anything for this game. If you've played the previous two games before, you'll know that there's always a signature puzzle that'll be harder than the rest and this time it was a visual challenge. Once you've surpass that puzzle, it should be smooth sailing from there. Throughout the game, you'll have a chance to unlock 6 achievements and do note that if you press on anything that states "assistance", it will count as you've used a clue. A final certificate of completion will give you your "score" at the end. Please do stay until the very end of the game for a special appearance by our very own Brandon (Aka InvAsian) and a very catchy song (we think) in the end credits called "Press Pause" - inspired by the Movember movement performed by InvAsian & J. Artiste. This game could be played as a solo player or as a team. Either way you'll have tons of fun solving puzzles while supporting a good cause and learning about how you can help with global issues. We are thankful for Deadlocked Escape Room & Movember for creating this game and including us in the creation for such a great cause. We hope everyone could support and spread the message to check on your Mo-Bros and Mo-Sisters and see how they are doing during this difficult time and perhaps reconnect and invite them to play a game with you! • Deadlocked Escape Room - "Tunnelling Through Time"

Photo above is property of Deadlocked Escape Rooms Company: Deadlocked Escape Rooms Game: Tunnelling Through Time Country: United Kingdom ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Language: English Type of Game: Digital Escape Game ๐Ÿ’ป Genre: Sci-Fi, Adventure Date Played: April 2, 2021 Difficulty (based on 2 players): 6.5/10 Size of Team: 1-6 pp Recommended Time: Available for 1 year after purchase ( 90-120 min of game play) Price: ยฃ15.00 (100% of the proceeds go directly to the charity (minus credit card fees to the banks) ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ†‚๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†ˆ Joey Beamish has recently accepted a contractor's job at The Brunel Museum's Thames Tunnel in London. There seems to be some network issue at the site. Thames Tunnel was the worldโ€™s first underwater tunnel and it runs 1,300 ft long and 75 ft deep. The tunnel was originally designed for horse-drawn carriages, but was mainly used by pedestrians. Later it became a popular tourist attraction. As Joey started her tests for the network, she found herself accidentally tunneling through time! You are her only hope to get her back to present day. Solve the puzzles to power up that teleportation device! Video above is property of Deadlocked Escape Rooms ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ถ๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ…ผ๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ฟ๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ†ˆ You can play this point-n-click game one of two ways: 1. Purchase one game code, set up a Zoom call and have someone in your team share their screen so your group can watch and contribute to solving the puzzles together 2. Use one game code and start the game at the same time with your teammates (up to 6 players). Set up a Zoom call as communication portal but play on separate devices. I would suggest the latter option so you can fully experience all the game components (especially the puzzles) on your own. The game won't be synced so whatever one player inputs into the game, the other players will have to enter in as well. Headphones are strongly recommended as you'll literally feel like you're watching a movie. As you solve puzzles, you'll be awarded with amusing characters and engaging dialogues. I love how the creators were able to incorporate historical references in an entertainment way. The sound effects were super crisp. You could even hear the echoing in the tunnels. One great feature of this game was that it'll autosave your progress. So if you logged out or closed your browser, you could log back in anytime and start from where you left off. Make sure you save any codes you were solving prior to logging out just incase you'll need to input them again. The game will give you a final progress report at the end so it's good to know that your timer will be paused when you're logged out of the game. Photos above are property of Deadlocked Escape Rooms ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…ด ๐Ÿ…ฟ๐Ÿ†„๐Ÿ†‰๐Ÿ†‰๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…ด๐Ÿ†‚ I love the wide range of puzzles that Deadlocked Escape Rooms was able to incorporate into this one game. You will experience some search and find, light sleuthing on the internet, strategy puzzles, complex deduction puzzle, multi-step decipher puzzle etc...One minute you're trying to figure out how to turn on some lights and another you'll be throwing some coconuts at a carnival to win some tickets. There was never a moment of boredom. I love how they never forget to add the element of humor into their game design (try not to poke that poor man too many times). The interactive strategy puzzles were probably my favorite. This is where I think your teammates might be playing "catch up". Some players might be able to get it very quickly whereas others might not be able to pass that level. If you do get stuck, there are nudging hints build-in to the game. And if you still need help, there's a full walkthrough video that you'll receive when you purchase the game. One other cool game design feature that I don't normally see in other games is the accessibility options. There are written notations for color blind players and subtitles if needed. ๐Ÿ…ฒ๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ†‚๐Ÿ…ธ๐Ÿ…ฝ๐Ÿ…ถ ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ†„๐Ÿ…ถ๐Ÿ…ท๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ†‚ We truly enjoyed this experience. This wasn't a simple digital game but more like a puzzling journey through immersive theater. I loved the graphics, sound, characters, costumes and most importantly the narrative. Deadlocked Escape Rooms always strives to give their players as much as they can in terms of value. They're always pushing new boundaries when it comes to game design and technology. We've been fans since day one when we played their "The Insiders". Thank you for yet another beautiful production and taking us along for the ride. โค Check out our interview with the creators to understand more on the development side of their game: *Currently only available for purchase within the UK (UK VAT is included in the price).
